3 HUSBAND NOTES: Alonzo Putnam NAY According to the Jackson District Library, Jackson, MI, John and Thirza came to the Territory of Michigan in 1835 from Peterborough, New Hampshire with his two brothers and his first cousin, Pitman Nay, and they all purchased land in Henrietta Township, Jackson County, Michigan. They were living there during the time that Alonzo was born. In the same records there was a reference to John having participated in the first "election" in Henrietta township, placing him there at that time. Alonzo may have been born on the 40 acre farm purchased by his father, which today can be identified by a crossroad intersection. Ancestral file #1PBP-43 shows Alonzo's birth 22 Nov Alonzo's headstone shows birth in 1935, though Temple Records Index Bureau. IGI Batch Sh 55, Source Call No , Film, shows birth of Alonzo Nay to John Nay and Thurza Angelina Hale on 22 Nov 1936 in Jackson, Jackson, MI. IGI Batch Sh 82, Source Call No , Film, shows Birth of Alonzo Putnum Nay to John Nay and Thirza Angelina Hale on 22 Nov 1835 in Jackson, MI. LDS Ordinan ces: Baptized 18 Sep 1980, SL; Endowed 12 Feb 1858 EH; Sealed to Parents 15 Jun 1983 PV. LDS Vital Records Library in the LDS Family History Suite shows birth as 22 Nov Wife's death cert. Utah #CL Family history/millie Tate; Fountain Green & St. John church records. Two different documents in an application for Indian War Veteran Medal, signed by Hannah Huggins Nay (his wife) records Alonzo's death as 3 Sep 1910 at the age of 75 years. This date conflicts with the headstone inscription in St. John Cemetery of 4 Sep. 1909, also funeral card printed at the time of his death. WIFE NOTES: Hannah Potter HIGGINS OR HUGGINS Married: Alonzo Putnam Nay 09 June 1861 in St. John, Tooele, Ut 1850 Dover,Ocean,NJ...Ancestry.com pg Springville,Utah,Ut...Ancestry.com pg 29 CHILD NOTES: Thirza Emiline NAY Birth and death: Personal knowledge of child #2. Husband and wife both re-baptized 12 Sep 1888 in St. John Ward. Wife's original baptism was in Fountain Green. CHILD NOTES: Harriet Elizabeth NAY Harriet Elizabeth Nay married 1st, Joseph Young Hansen; had 3 children by him. He is said to have died in a logging camp accident, somewhere in Oregon. She married 2nd, William Howard Hooper when her 3rd born was 3 months old. They had 8 children during the 14 years of their marriage. Eldra Bounds does not know the reason that they were not married in the Temple, as William Howard Hooper also raised her 3 children from her prior marriage. William was killed in a mine cave-in 13 Nov 1903, leaving her with 5 living children to raise. It had always been the desire of Harriett's heart to be married in the Temple so on 6 Mar 1912, she was married to the husband of her deceased cousin, Simeon Cook Drollinger, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had no issue. (Note by Eldra Bounds) Rebaptismal date of Harriet Nay found in records of members early to 1913, St John Ward, Tooele Stake # CHILD NOTES: William Alonzo NAY Ancestral File #1PBP-RC shows birthplace as Richfield, Sevier, UT on 8 Jul It also shows sealing to parent date and Hannah Potter Huggins as the husband. CHILD NOTES: Ormus Franklin NAY Name found on different records as Ormus, Arnus, & Armus. 3
4 CHILD NOTES: Hannah Edna NAY CHILD NOTES: John Chester NAY CHILD NOTES: Lorena NAY Death (11 Jul 1915): Died while giving birth to a son who also died. Listed as Lorraine or Lorena in the Ancestral File. Information about her and her descendants from Joy Wilder, granddaughter. 4
