Pg 203: THE GAINESBORO SENTINEL, Gainesboro, TN, Saturday, October 12, 1907: Summers Loftis: A very pretty wedding was solemnized Tuesday morning at 8 o clock at the residence of David Loftis and wife, when their daughter, Miss Mary, and James M. Summers were made husband and wife. Bro. Benton Draper performed the ceremony in a few well chosen words. The room was beautifully decorated with ferns and pot flowers. The bride and groom, accompanied by Miss Mary Hart and Mr. Thorton Ladd, of Nashville, marched into the presence of a few relatives and friends to the sweet strains of Mendelssohn s wedding march, executed by Miss Georgia Carter, and there assumed the obligations which made them husband and wife. During the ceremony O Promise Me was rendered. The bride was much admired in a picturesque gown of net over white satin, and a bouquet of white carnations and ferns. The maid of honor wore white silk and carried pink carnations and ferns. The bride is one whose character and loving disposition is so well known, not only here, but where ever she has visited, that comment by us is unnecessary. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Loftis, and was born and reared in Gainesboro, TN. To all she is the same a loving, kind hearted, sympathetic woman, possessed of strong will and loving disposition. The groom is a prominent citizen of Sumner County. He is a gentleman in the true sense of the word and enjoys the respect and confidence of all with whom he has come in contact. The bridal party left immediately for Double Springs, and will visit the Jamestown Exposition and other points east. Mrs. Summer s traveling suit was blue silk with hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. Summers will be at home to their many friends after next Tuesday at their country home near Hendersonville. The Sentinel with the host of friends and relatives extend to Mr. and Mrs. Summers it hearty congratulations. May God smile upon their union, and my peace and happiness mark their path through life, and when the end shall come may neither have an act or word to look backward to and regret.
