1 2011 Indiana Conference Page 579 ADDENDUM (The following is the report of the Conference Secretary which was delayed in its receipt. It is included here as a part of the official record of the Proceedings of the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church.) III. DAILY PROCEEDINGS THIRD ANNUAL SESSION OF THE INDIANA CONFERENCE JUNE 8-11, 2011 BALL STATE UNIVERSITY MUNCIE, INDIANA The third session of the Indiana Annual Conference was held June 8-11, 2011 on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana using the theme from Micah 6:8, Do Justice, Love Kindness and Walk Humbly with God. Dr. Marcia McFee served as guest consultant and was instrumental in creating a program of worshipful work, interweaving worship, music, scripture, and teaching throughout the session. Dr. Chuck Scott led the conference praise team and Bishop Coyner served as Bible Study leader. A major component of the session was the election of delegates for the General and Jurisdictional Conferences, the first time as the new Indiana Conference. Meet and greet the candidates sessions were held prior to the opening clergy and laity sessions. Unless otherwise noted, all sessions of the Conference were held in Emens Auditorium WEDNESDAY JUNE 8 CLERGY SESSION 7:00 PM UNION CHAPEL UMC The clergy session approved these four candidates for commissioning and 24 candidates for ordination. They will be commissioned or ordained on Saturday morning during the 10 a.m. worship service. Those being commissioned as provisional members include: Lowell Gregg Black of Chesterton, Jungbum Kim of Fishers, Samuel Leon Padgett of Corydon and Daniel Lee Payton of Patoka. Those being ordained as Deacons include: Chiyona A Leeta Bourne of Indianapolis, Candyce Krider Kaiser of Ligonier, Marcy Lynn Patrick of Lebanon and Amanda Renae Connett Rochelle of Huntsville, Ala. Those being ordained as Elders include: Stanley D. Abell of Indianapolis, Sharon Lea Baker of Gary, Michael Brice Collins of Coydon, Gregory Kent Davis of Loogootee, Kevin Walter Drane of Royal Center, Jill Moffett Howard of Terre Haute, Tony Lee Johnson of Bargersville, Robert Michael Kumpf of Brazil, Michael Ted Lawson of Marion, Ethan Lloyd Maple of Indianapolis, Kevin Eugene Marsh of Butler, Jean Stone Ness of Cromwell, Adam Michael Payne of Willow Branch, Andrew Dennis Payton of Tell City, Renee Kathleen Perkins of Bicknell, Kevin Malcolm Raidy of Valparaiso, Jackie Dee Smith of Fort Wayne, Jenifer Lee Stuelpe-Gibbs of Bloomington, Matthew Allen Swisher of Veedersburg and Nathan Eric Whybrew of Munster The clergy first ballot was taken during the session. All other actions of the session are reported in the Business of the Annual Conference. LAITY SESSION 7:00 PM The Laity Session opened with prayer by conference co-lay leader Kayc Mykrantz. David V.W.Owen, executive assistant to the Bishop was introduced by co-lay leader Ike Williams and provided explanatory information and instruction about the delegate election process. The first ballot was taken. Manuscript Contest Bob Pimott, Southeast District lay leader, introduced the winner of the laty manuscript, Karen Schwartz of fountain UMC in the South District. She presenter her paper What Passionate Worship Means to Me based on Psalm 113 framed her

2 Page 580 Indiana Conference 2011 remarks with an acronym for passion, detailed as peace, altar, scripture,song/singing, inspiration, our joys and concerns, and new life. Other recipients of awards for the manuscript contest include Jerry Babitz, first runner up from Centenary UMC in the North Central District; and a tie for second runner up between Karen Rice, Cicero UMC in the North Central District; and John Wakeman, Faith UMC in the Central District. Ann Hanson introduced Youth Mime Ministry of Muncie and the liturgical dance troupe Muncie Women of Worship who shared praise through dance. Closing prayer was offered by Kayc Mykranz An Ice cream social followed the session. THURSDAY, JUNE 9 BUSINESS PLENARY I 11:00 AM 1.1 CALL TO ORDER Bishop Coyner called to order the third session of the Indiana Annual Conference and introduced the platform table, David V.W. Owen, executive assistant to the Bishop, Carolyn Johnson, conference secretary, and Becky Huff-Cook serving as assistant to the secretary. Dr. Johnson provided procedural instructions for the Conference, specified the bar of the Conference as the first floor of Emens Auditorium, and noted that the registration report will constitute the official roll call. 1.2 SESSIONS COMMITTEE Karen Powell, chair of the Sessions Committee, provided an overview of the Conference, including facility logistics, hospitality services, and this year s new Help Desk. She reminded Conference participants to take advantage of the conference to become equipped, transformed, and inspired for the task of ministry. 1.2a Approval of the Conference Workbook Rev. Powell moved that the pre-conference book of reports serve as the official Conference Workbook. 1.3 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT Balloting occurred throughout the Conference until the required number of delegates and reserves had been elected for both the General and Jurisdictional Conferences. Unless otherwise noted, all election results were reported by Dr. Owen with occasional technical information provided by head tellers and election co-chairs James Butler and Adriane Curtisname and votes received. Each period of balloting was preceded with prayer. Conference youth were valuable volunteers in assisting with counting and processing ballot information. Beard COMMITTEE ON NOMINATIONS, INITIAL REPORT Chairperson Lisa Schubert presented the committee s initial report with the including the following addition to the report as distributed in the registration packet: add Larry Whitehead to CFA s class of Rev. Schubert encouraged the Conference to participate in the nominations database survey available on the Conference website.

3 2011 Indiana Conference Page COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION INITIAL REPORT Kent Millard, chair reported the conference as financially strong, specifically referencing 1.5a Budget Proposal Dr. Millard drew attention to several aspects of the 2012 budget proposal including continuation of the tithe; a commitment to pay 100% of General Church obligations; and a recommendation to go off formula for 2012 in regard to DS and Director salaries. The annual adjustment of these salaries is indexed to the Conference Average Compensation (CAC) annual differential; however,for 2012,CFA is recommending to go off formula due to mandatory insurance adjustments made for 2010 salaries. Otherwise this formula would have artificially inflated DS & Director salaries. His report also included a dialogue on tithing with Deanne Heidrich of Castleton UMC in Indianapolis. 1.5b Conference Financial Policies Dr. Millard moved adoption of the Financial Policies as detailed on Pages of the Conference Workbook. THURSDAY, JUNE 9 WORSHIP AND BIBLE STUDY WITH BISHOP COYNER 2:00 PM BUSINESS PLENARY II 2:30 PM 2.1 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT 2.1a Laity Ballot #2 Ballots Cast: 763 Valid Ballots: 696 Needed to Elect: 349 NO ELECTION 2.1b Motion Bert Talbott moved that on the next ballot names not be read of any receiving less than 50 votes.(seconded) 2.1c Clergy Ballot #2 Ballots Cast:498 Valid Ballots: 451 NO ELECTION Needed to Elect: d Motion Kenneth Burcham moved that on the next ballot names not be read of any receiving less than 50 votes (with the exception of new write ins).(seconded ) 2.2 CHURCH DEVELOPMENT Led by director Mark Gough, the congregational development team presented an extensive overview of efforts to start new congregations and revitalize existing congregations. Associate directors, Steve Clouse, Ed Festermacher, David Neckers, and Sharon Washington discussed the fruitful congregations program; new worship communities; second and multi-site campuses; and the upcoming journey small church initiative scheduled to launch in Conference members were asked to pray for each other s congregations and develop an action plan. Rev. Gough introduced Tony Johnson, pastor of The Grove, a new church start in Center Grove, Johnson County. Bishop Coyner asked Mark Beeson to lead the Conference in a prayer of blessing for this new ministry and its pastor. 2.3 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT 2.3a Laity Ballot #3 Ballots Cast:783 Valid Ballots:652; James H. Reisman 207 Needed to Elect: UNITED METHODIST FOUNDATION OF INDIANA (UMFI) Manet Shettle, UMFI president, reviewed the foundation s formation, staffing, financial strategies, transition successes and challenges. She also reported on the Indiana United Methodist Loan & Savings Ministry describing its relationship to the UMFI and highlighting its impressive record of loaning more than $30 million without a loan loss, a testimony to churches commitment to their ministries. 2.4a Motion to confirm the UMFI Class of 2014 On behalf of the UMFI Board of Directors, the following names were presented for confirmation to serve a three year term on the UMFI Board of Directors: Dixie Arter, Justin Haskins, Jay Love, Mary Miller, Mitch Norwood, Nancy Raidy, and DeVon Yoho. 2.4b Retired Minister s Fund 2010 Distribution President Shettle, presented to the annual conference $247,710.35, the 2010 distribution amount from the Retired Minister s Fund. 2.5 REJUVENATE Michelle Cobb, Rejuvenate project director, introduced Kate Padgett, chair of the project s advisory team. Dr. Cobb reported that the project, approaching its second anniversary, is accomplishing its goals and presented a video highlighting ways in which the project is making a difference in the lives of pastors, parsonage families, and congregations. 2.6 Delegate Election Report 2.6a Laity Ballot #4 Ballots Cast:797 Valid Ballots: 721 Needed to Elect:361 NO ELECTION 2.6b Clergy Ballot #4 Ballots Cast:444 Valid Ballots: 409 Needed to Elect:205 Russ Abel 240 Gregory McGarvey RULES AND STRUCTURE Jim Bushfield, Director of Connectional Ministries moved adoption of the report as found on pages of the Conference Workbook. (seconded). Dr. Bushfield highlighted significant changes in the structure related to higher education and campus ministry. 2.8 ANNOUNCEMENTS Karen Powell announced that the situation of parking confusion, and resulting ticketing has been corrected. 2.9 MINISTRY CLUSTER TESTIMONIALS As the conference waited for election results, Bishop Coyner invited testimonials about the exciting and impactful work of our ministry clusters. The following testimonials were given as examples of these meaningful ministries: (presenters are listed parenthetically) Gospel Cluster (Central District): Acton UMC and Maple Hill UMC, along congregations from other denominations, helped establish an ecumenical food pantry -- the first in Marion County s Franklin township (Edward Cottrell); JoCo Cluster (Central District): raised $50,000 and built a new Habitat House in Johnson County (Robert Coleman);

5 2011 Indiana Conference Page 583 Servants of Hope Cluster ( North District): Servants of Hope Cluster held a hog roast fundraiser to support Mission Guatemela and has a team of 25 heading to Guatemela(Penny Krug); Pine Creek Cluster(Northwest District): created a farm food bank project and funds raised have be used to support the Liberia sustainable agricultural project(anne Kumeh); Cross Generations Cluster (South District): is working across generations and will held a second Life in His Presence event with 75 youth attending. Outreach in the community was a part of the event program. (Tyler Best); also Brightwood Community Center in Indianapolis was selected for the national drops of good competition and individual support is welcomed (Penny Mayberry) DINNER RECESS THURSDAY, JUNE 9 BUSINESS PLENARY III 7:00 PM 3.1 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORTS 3.1a Laity Ballot # 5 Ballots Cast: 847 Valid Ballots: 766 Needed to Elect: 384 NO ELECTION 3.1b Clergy Ballot # 5 Ballots Cast: 443 Valid Ballots:404 Beth Ann Cook 209 Michael Dominick 203 Needed to Elect: ORDER OF THE DAY - TRUSTEES 3.2a Annual Meeting of the South Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Inc In the absence of president Brian Williams, trustee Mark Dicken called the meeting to order and explained that the two motions are the final actions required by the State of Indiana to merge the two former conferences into the new Indiana Conference and transfer all assets and liability to the new entity; and, by so doing the two former corporate entities will be dissolved. Brent Williams led the Corporation through the voting process including an explanation of the written ballot and voting eligibility. The Motions RESOLVED, that the members of United Methodist South Indiana Conference, Inc. (the Corporation ), hereby approve and adopt the Plan and Agreement of Merger among the Corporation, The North Indiana Annual Conference United Methodist, and Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Inc., as proposed by the Corporation s Board of Directors in the form attached hereto (the Plan of Merger ); and RESOLVED, that the officers of the Corporation are authorized and directed to take whatever actions are appropriate or desirable to effectuate the approval and adoption of the Plan of Merger described in the immediately preceding resolution, including the filing of articles of merger (or their equivalent) with the Secretary of State of the State of Indiana Following collection of the ballots, and there being no further business before the Corporation, the meeting was declared closed. 3.2b Annual Meeting of the North Indiana Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, Inc. In the absence of president Susan Kirkpatrick, trustee Al Brothers called the meeting to order and explained that the two motions are the final actions required by the State of Indiana to merge the two former conferences into the new Indiana Conference and transfer all assets and liability to the new entity; and, by so doing the two former corporate entities will be dissolved. Brent Williams led the Corporation through the voting process including explanation of the written ballot and voting eligibility. The Motions RESOLVED, that the members of The North Indiana Annual Conference United Methodist (the Corporation ) hereby approve and adopt the Plan and Agreement of Merger among the Corporation, United Methodist South Indiana Conference, Inc., and Indiana Annual Conference of the United

Mark Dicken, president of the Corporation, called the meeting to order. Shera Farm Earnings and Distribution Rev. Dicken noted that the trustees are responsible for the management and distribution of the Shera Farm investment funds and reported that the 2010 earnings of $ 47, were distributed as follows: 10% ($ 4, ) retained and re-invested in the corpus; 20% ($ ) to the Central Conference Pension Initiative; and 80% ($34,024.28) to the Indiana Conference Compassion Fund to assist retired clergy with health insurance issues. Expressed appreciation to the conference trustees for donating the Conference s Cokesbury proceeds to the Central Conference Pension Initiative. A video of the CCPI s scope and purpose was part of the report. Rev. 7 2011 Indiana Conference Page b Sandy Harlan asked that her named be removed from the upcoming clergy ballot 3.4c Clergy Ballot # 6 Ballots Cast: 306 Valid Ballots: 279 Needed to Elect: 140 Mark Dicken CABINET RESOLUTIONS Cindy Reynolds moved adoption of the Cabinet Resolutions (as distributed) with the following additions: That the two point charge of Norris Chapel and Maple Grove in the Northeast District be separated effective July 1, 2011; That the two point charge of Ambia and Locust Grove in the Northeast District be separated effective July 1, 2011; and That the two point charge of Silver Lake Center and Athens in the Northwest District be separated effective July 1, MISSION OUTREACH CELEBRATION The Celebration of Mission Outreach highlighted the many and varied ways local church missions have made a difference in our Conference. A video showing churches in action and reaching outside the walls with trash clean-up, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, neighborhood clean-up events, community outreach, food drives, health fairs, recycling drives and general cleaning.david Neckers encouraged members of the conference to Keep on making a difference. The annual conference is not doing a day of service this year. Instead it gave every registered attendee a bag that held a glove, a bag of candy and a piece of paper. Members are to pick up trash, share the candy with a note to people they come in contact with and use the paper for a prayer walk. 3.7 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT 3.7a Clergy Ballot # 7 Ballots Cast: 363 Valid Ballots: 340 Needed to Elect:171 Cindy Reynolds NEW GENERATION/NEW LEADER TASK FORCE REPORT Task Force members Adriane Curtis and Michael Pratt (via video) provided an overview of the task force report as found on pages of the Conference Workbook addendum and described the developmental basis for the recommendations including underscoring metrics, research, process, and vision. Rev. Curtis moved adoption of the report stressing that the overall recommendation was not budgetary at this time, but instead an affirmation of the vision and proposed direction. Discussion Floor inquire was raised regarding budgetary implications, and seeking clarity regarding staffing and goal projects. Rev. Curtis emphasized and reiterated that the motion was not seeking funding at this time, and was a motion to refer to the appropriate entities for study/implementation. Also, the percentage goals are aspirational goals, and not quotas. 8 Page 586 Indiana Conference c Clergy Ballot #8 Ballots Cast:365 Valid Ballots: 354 Needed to Elect: 178 NO ELECTION Mark Fenstermacher asked that his name be removed for General Conference consideration, but would be willing to serve as a jurisdictional delegate ANNOUNCEMENTS Jim Bushfield provided suggestions on ways Conference participants could use the theme ribbons found in their registration packets. and Brian Durand reminded that Conference that Indiana will serve as host conference for Youth 2011, an international youth conference scheduled for July at Purdue University PETITIONS Four(4) petitions were received by the Conference for endorsement and submission to the 2012 General Conference. Conference Secretary, Carolyn Johnson presented the petitions (pages 79-80) The Conference discussed and acted on the petitions (pages 79-80) as follows: 3.11a Petition 1: Inappropriate Intrusion of Episcopal Pressure (Conference Workbook, Page 79) NOT ENDORSED 3.11b Petition 2: Theological Education and the Ministerial Education Fund (MEF) (Conference Workbook, Pages 79-80) ENDORSED (and will be forwarded to the General Conference) NOTE FROM THE CONFERENCE SECRETARY: due to time constraints and a standing order of the day for delegate elections petitions 3 and 4 were not processed before the end of the conference; and, as unfinished business, were referred to the leadership table for action. On July 6, 2011 the Leadership Table took the following actions: Petition # 3: Transfers to the United Methodist Church (Conference Workbook, Pages 80-81) ENDORSED (and will be forwarded to the General Conference) Petition #4: Not Titled Conference Workbook, Pages 81-82) This petition was determined to be a resolution to the annual conference and not a general conference petition. The monitoring team was especially concerned about the limited numbers of young adults on stage Benediction

(seconded) 4.1c Clergy Ballot # 10 Ballots Cast: 339 Valid Ballots:316 Needed to Elect:159 Lisa Schubert c Self Introductions of those willing to serve 4.2 YOUNG ADULT AND CAMPUS MINISTRY The report opened with video clips from the MOVE Young Adult Retreat. Chris Roberts, chair, reiterated the importance of understanding the age demographics of our conference, especially in relationship to ministry development. He identified the team s three priorities : (1)training young adult leaders in the local church and in our campus ministries; (2) educating and raising awareness about the unique traits and needs of young adults; and (3) equipping and empowering churches to do ministry with and for young adults. 4.2a Campus Ministry Affinity Group Adriane Curtis, co-chair of the group and student Heather Wilson, Purdue Wesley Foundation prefaced the report emphasizing the important role of campus ministry during the critical college years. Recognition was given to Jack Diel, United Campus Ministries of Terre Haute, for 30 years of campus ministry. Students shared impressive accounts regarding the impact and varied activities of their respective campus ministries. Presenting were Jake Ohlemiller and Jason Milligan, students, Wesley Foundation Purdue; Jack Diel (chaplain, United Campus Ministries Terre Haute; Lang Brownlee and Jeremiah Gibbs,chaplains University of Indianapolis; Katie Smanik, director of spiritual life and P.T. Wilson, chaplain DePauw; and Shilpa Dupsinth and Leana Zimmerman, delegates to the the General Board of Higher Education s United Methodist Student Movement s 2011 annual forum, held at the University of Evansville and themed God is Calling..Will You Answer? 4.3 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORTS 4.3a Laity Ballot # 10 Ballots Cast:713 Valid Ballots: 618 Needed to Elect: 310* *By Conference action the top three vote recipients satisfy the election requirements Kenneth W. Mr. Coy expressed appreciation to the entire team of camp employees and volunteers for their outstanding efforts, and offered special recognition to new camping director Nick Yarde and business manager Ian Hall. In memorial, he noted the loss of Lloyd Tucker, long time camping supporter and chair of camping s finance committee. Chris Nunley opened with words of appreciation for Rev. Stan Buck and reported that The Right Future camping capital campaign is progressing well and has received $2 million toward the $12 million goal. Each retiree was introduced by Tony Carmer, chair of conference relations, and on behalf of the Conference, presented a gift by Bishop Coyner. Rev. Carmer noted that retiring class represented 1061 years of service. Concluding the recognition was A Tapestry of Story video interviews with members of the retiring class. Bishop Coyner led the Conference in a litany and prayer of blessing. 4.6d Passing the Walking Stick Kent Millard, representing the retiring class, and Tony Johnson, representing the ordinands passed and received the walking stick of faith symbolizing the passing of one generation of gifts to another. John Groves expressed appreciation to Marcia McFee for helping with the report design and moved adoption of the entire report, noting a correction on page 15 changing 2010 Actions to 2011 Actions. Conference FRIDAY, JUNE 10 BUSINESS PLENARY V 2:00 PM 5.1 CALL TO ORDER, ANNOUNCEMENTS, AND BALLOTING The session was called to order by Bishop Coyner followed by announcements from Karen Powell and a review of the previous clergy ballot by David. W. Owens. Karen Powell provided helpful information regarding Operation Classroom and announced February 16-17, 2012 as the event dates for the Our Life Together scheduled for St. Luke UMC, Indianapolis. Darren Cushman Wood asked to withdraw his candidacy as a delegate to the Jurisdictional Conference Following the prayer and balloting, Forest Bowers informed the conference that the parking issues and resulting tickets experience during this session of Conference had been resolved after conversation with the Mayor of Muncie 5.2 CABINET AND LAITY JOINT ADDRESS The report was presented by Cindy Reynolds, chair of the Cabinet, and co-lay leaders, Kayc Mykrantz and Ike Williams. Dr. Reynolds introduced the report by expressing appreciation to the Bishop, Dr. Owen and the Conference directors for their continuing leadership, especially in fulfilling the principles of Imagine Indiana throughout conference operations. Posing a series of reflective questions, she encouraged the Conference to understand in fresh ways, what is a disciple?; what does it look like when God pours out His Spirit on His people?; and what does it mean to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world? She encouraged adaptation of a garden mentality to nurture and support positive changes in communities, transforming the world beginning in our neighborhoods. Continuing the garden metaphor, Kayc Mykranz emphasized that telling our own story is planting the seed and Ike Williams, underscored the importance of nurturing faith and cultivating disciples by

The report concluded with a challenge question How far willyou go to engage the future for the transformation of the world? Getting the soil ready, planting the seeds, and nurturing disciples. 5.3 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT Clergy Ballot # 13 Ballots Cast: 337 Valid Ballots: 314 Needed to Elect: 156 NO ELECTION 5.4 INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONS TEAM The Institutional Relations Team is designed to cultivate and strengthen relationships with the 21 Indiana institutions having an United Methodist affiliation. Michael Cartwright, IRT convener, recognized representatives of the IRT present and introduced Dan Evans, president and CEO of Indiana University Health for comments. Speaking on Connecting the Connection Dr. Evans expressed appreciation for the more than 100 years of support of Methodist hospital and its successor hospitals and continuing connections bound by a spirit service and care for the poor, of note, 11% of net revenue 5.5 DELEGATE ELECTION REPORT Clergy Ballot # 14 Ballots Cast: 339 Valid Ballots: 314 Needed to Elect: 158 ELECTED Ida Easley 226 Glenn Howell 219 Taylor Burton-Edwards COUNCIL ON FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION Budget Kent Mallard moved adoption of the budget as printed in the Conference Workbook. Questions from the floor included concerns related to adequacy of funding for Hispanic ministries and request for an update regarding the tithing and accountability study referred to the Cabinet and Leadership Table during the 2010 session Motion to Amend the Budget Steve Shoemaker moved that $25,000 be moved from discretionary funds [i.e. reserve funds] and specifically l targeted for Hispanic ministries. (seconded) NOT ADOPTED. Conference adopted the entire report and expressed appreciation to Dr. Mallard for his service as CFA chair. 5.7 NOMINATIONS Lisa Schubert, chair, moved adoption of the report inclusive of the following corrections/additions: Board of Laity, Central District Representative (page 4) replace the name Serena Rasmussen with Doris Clark; and Nominations Committee (page 14) add Chris Newton (lay). 5.8 PRAYER REQUESTS Bishop Coyner lifted in prayer for those taken ill during Conference, including Peyton Kalb, a student visiting the Ball State campus, and Donna Wilfong, wife of district superintendent, Charlie Wilfong.

He emphasized that youth have a passion for ministry and are serious about the abundant, joyful, and vibrant life that comes through Jesus Christ. Corey Howard, convenor of the youth team invited the conference to hear stories from youth on their perspectives of faith. Bob Klump, in responding to an inquiry raised by Jonathan Gosser about Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns, noted that restructuring of the CUIC assignment was still in process; Regional Lee called on the team to include in its 2012 a recognition of former central jurisdiction leadership residing in our conference; 5.11aMotion to Amend Team accepted, as a friendly amendment,the following changes to Page 63, lines 21 and 22 as proposed by Janet Jacobs Start a Host gamblers anonymous and gam-anon meetings group at your church. This year the awards will be presented in the recipient s home church. Receiving awards are Brandon Scott, Royal Center UMC, Northwest District and Jerry Kidwell, Southport UMC, Central District 5.13dBishop s Excellence Award in Scouting Fred Cain, conference scouting coordinator, announced Troop 276 of Castleton UMC, Indianapolis as recipient of the Bishop s Excellence in Scouting. Accepting the award was scout Wild Bill Jensen, and troop member Michael Schaeckenbach accepted the accompanying flag from Bishop Coyner MISSION RESOURCE TEAM Rita Gather-Gant, convener, introduced David Powell, Bonnie Albert, and LeKisha Reed as copresenters of the report. 5.14a Procedural Motion to Approve Additional Advance Special Projects On behalf of MRT, Rita-Gaither Gant moved the MRT continue to work with the districts to review applications between annual conference sessions and to bring any additions for advance specials to the Leadership Table and later to the Annual Conference session. (seconded) 5.14bMotion Regarding 5013c Status of Recipient Agencies On behalf of MRT, Ms. Gant moved that all Indiana Conference district and conference Advance agencies and ministries have a 501c3 status in order to receive the designated funds raised through the Advance giving. (seconded) Discussion Considerable discussion ensued regarding the impact of the motion on existing projects, including possible loss of funding, access to help in preparing applications, prohibitive expense involved, use of other mechanisms and processes, such as fiscal agents, to ensure accountability. Motion to Refer Bill Keith, moved referral to the conference chancellor or further review; and to the Leadership Table for action. Ms. Gant moved acceptance of the entire report TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE SESSION 2012 Bishop Coyner fixed the date of the 4 th session of the Indiana Annual Conference as June 7-9, Karen Powell, announced that the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis has been secured as the venue and there will be an intentional effort to connect with the city.
