5 General Instructions This book can be implemented in planning for Primary music time activities, or in any other situation for which it is appropriate. The songs in this book are those found in the 2017 Outline for Sharing Time, and some additional songs have been added. Muggli Graphics is not affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; no book or program we publish is reviewed or endorsed by the Church. If desired, cover figures with clear adhesive plastic or laminate them. Usually when cutting items out, it is best to leave a narrow white margin all around. If the visual aid is a puppet, overlapping areas should not show any white margins. Prepare with flannel, magnets, or velcro for use with flannelboard, magnet board, or velcro board. If you will be using tape, be sure to laminate both sides. Visual aids may be implemented in many ways. Try posting them on the wall, on an easel or board, or have children hold them. If velcro is used, it will stick to some clothing such as fuzzy sweaters. Some of the visual aids in this book are paper bag puppets. Assemble as shown below, using small lunch size paper bags. Many visual aids can be turned into stick puppets by mounting them on tongue depressors (just make sure they are stiff enough and mount if needed). For some songs, actions are recommended instead of visual aids, so the actions may be described. In the Song Visual Aids List, visual aids and word strips are listed by phrase or line for each song. For some songs, only the first verse is shown. For other songs, more than one verse may be shown. You may want to teach more verses, or you may want to use different visual aids (or more or fewer). You will find the visual aids placed alphabetically in the Visual Aids section. The word strips are at the end of the book, arranged alphabetically. This book contains ideas, possibilities, and suggestions; make it work for you in whatever ways are most helpful. You could go about using this book in several ways, but the easiest way would be to prepare all the visual aids at once so they will all be ready. You will want to have them organized in such a way that they will be easy to find and will not get mixed up. My suggestion would be to get an accordian or portable file box. As you prepare the visual aids, puppets, and wordstrips, just file them according to their title alphabetically. Tape the title on the back of each item before filing. 6 gather other visual aids you can file them along with the ones in this book. This book includes visual aids for some extra songs that are not included in the official outline because some Primaries may want to have a song for every monthly theme to break up the presentation, and for some months it is suggested that you use a song of your choice. These songs are included in the script found in the children s program book we publish, which includes suggestions for putting on a presentation. The program songs and the extra songs are listed in the Table of Contents. NOTE: Sometimes we hear comments to the effect that many of the visual aids in these books are the same from year to year. If you are the chorister for several years, you may end up with many copies of a single visual aid. Please bear with us and keep in mind that a new chorister will need all the visual aids for each song, regardless of whether the same picture has been used before or may be used again. Some songs are new or are from the hymnbook, so some of those visual aids have not been included in past books. We hope this book will make life easier for the lucky people who get to teach songs to our sweet Primary children!
