By Artur W. Pink ( ) Wen we were young, te transition from December to January meant little more to us tan te need for anoter calendar and registering te new date on our letters. Tere was no solemn realization tat anoter milestone ad been passed in te sort journey of life, and tat we were 365 days nearer a Te Canging Years te Uncanging God A New Year s Meditation By Jon R. Gilpin ( ) Bretren, my eart s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, tat tey migt be saved (Rom. 10:1). Tis is our last Sunday nigt of In just a few ours time you will be making your New Year s resolutions, and getting ready in a few ours more to break tem. I tink we, more or less, come to te end of te year wit te tougt in mind, tat if it pleases God we would like to do better, and be better, in te coming year tan we never-ending Eternity to spend te same, eiter as a regenerated soul in te Courts of o l i n e s s and everlasting bliss; or to be rigteously cast by God as an aborred sinner into te region of unutterable woe, tere to suffer te due reward of our iniquities ave in te past. Tere comes to my mind a little poem wic I tink is very appropriate at te end of a year. e came to my desk wit a quivering lip, Te task was done. I want a new seet, dear teacer, e said, I ve spoiled tis one. I took te seet so stained and blotted And gave im a new one all unspotted And unto is tired eyes smiled, (Continued on page 18) forever and ever. But since Divine mercy appreended us and gave us te spirit of a sound mind, and as we grow older, te passing of eac year impresses us more deeply wit te mutability of all eartly tings and of our own mortality. As eac fleeting year witnesses te call ence of one and anoter, we are reminded tat te same call may likely come to us before 1945 expires; and terefore, it beooves us to see to it tat our own ouse is set in order. Wit te canging years, come also te vicissitudes of life. True, tat as been te case all troug uman istory but it seems to ave been more pronounced of late. Wat alterations ave been witnessed in every spere during te last few decades! Probably most of our readers would ave discredited anyone (Continued on page 17) Te Tree Sons of Noa By William J. Stang of Lexington, Kentucky (Editor s note: Bro. Stang as written a very in-dept article tat sould be read completely. It is a lengty article, but full of meat for te Cristian reader. For tose wo will continue to te end, it unfolds like a good mystery novel revealing truts from God s oly Word.) TE GOSPEL TO TE NATIONS or A REASON FOR MISSIONS (Te Table of te Nations: Genesis capter 10) I want to pick out one verse from Paul s sermon on Mar s ill, wic e preaced at Atens during is second missionary journey. And if your reaction is wat mine was wen I first saw tis, you will realize tat you ave never before pondered te full meaning of tese words unless you ave seen tem in te ligt of wat I will be writing about. Acts 17:24 speaks of God tat made te world and all tings terein... Tis same God at made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all te face of te eart, and at determined te times before appointed, and te bounds of teir abitation... (Acts 17:26). Giving particular attention to bot te times and te bounds tere. Because I want to give you some idea of te bounds of teir abitation before appointed, eac severally in teir appointed times as eac nation migrated to its final (Continued on page 2)

Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 1) location geograpically. And I want you to keep in mind te one bloodedness of all men tere: we are all of one blood. We are related. We are of te same kind. And if you really get a old of tat, every time some government form asks you to put down wat race you are of, you will put down tat you are of te Adamic race, because tat is all tat tere is. So, keep tis verse in mind now, as we turn back to Genesis capters 9 and 10. Genesis capter 10: TE TABLE OF TE NATIONS. Tere as never been a document like it in all te istory of mankind. Most people do not realize tat te earliest written records (te secular records of man) do not go back but a few undred years before Crist. Te Iliad and te Odyssey, for example, is peraps te oldest secular writing known. And it may ave been written as early as 800 to 1,000 B.C., toug te Greek alpabet was probably not invented until about 800 B.C., and te form in wic we ave te Iliad and te Odyssey was probably not written until peraps around 400 B.C., and it reads like some fairy tale, wit a golden fleece, a cyclops, a medusa wit a ead of snakes for air; te Greeks temselves did not take it seriously! Tey tended to tink of it as some kind of a fairy tale wic only taugt points of wisdom to be speculated upon. But we ave a record tat goes back four tousand years before tat; a serious, somber, sober account of creation tat cannot be disproved. In te table of te nations, almost 2,500 years B.C., a record of te ancestry and istory of all mankind. A record tat as born te scrutiny of 1,000 s of years and never been disproven, toug it was written before it ever even fully appened, and it s fulfillment is still being unfolded even as I speak. Let us start in Genesis 9:24. You will remember, after te flood, wen am saw te nakedness of is fater Noa, tat Noa, in verses pronounces te propetic destiny of te nations. And Noa awoke from is wine, and knew wat is younger son ad done unto im. And e said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants sall e be unto is bretren. And e said, Blessed be te LORD God of Sem; and Canaan sall be is servant. God sall enlarge Japet, and e sall dwell in te tents of Sem; and Canaan sall be is servant (Gen. 9:24-27). It would do us all well to sit and meditate upon tis for a wile ( Sela ); but you go back and see, if wat I tell you is not te fulfillment of all tis. We see tree families ere: Sem: forefater of te Semites, or Semites (as we would say today). Te Jews, for one, are a Semitic people, as are te Arabs. am: forefater of te amites. Te Canaanites, Egyptians, Africans, Asians, most American Indians. Japet: forefater of te Japetites. Te Indo-European races. Most of us, for example, are all descended from Japet. Now listen, people use tese verses to teac all kinds of tings, and to justify all kinds of prejudices, but I want to sow you te fulfillment of tem ere, in te ope of locking ome to your eart wat tey actually teac; tat te true teacing migt forever guard you against te many false teacings tat are (Continued on page 3)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 3 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 2) miss-launced from tis passage, and tat te trut of te outline of 4,500 years of uman istory, given beforeand, may unfold to you. Do you remember in Genesis 1:28 wen te Lord gave te command for man to be fruitful, and to multiply, and to replenis, (or tat is, to fill te eart, and subdue it troug learning about it, conquer te creation: take it over), tat as been called Te Cultural Mandate. God tells tem tat again in verse 7 after te flood. And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring fort abundantly in te eart, and multiply terein (Gen 9:7). In capters 10 and 11 tey rebel against tat by gatering togeter to build te Tower of Babel, do tey not? Instead of spreading abroad, tey gater togeter in rebellion against God. And so God tells us e went down to confound teir language. Go to, let us go down, and tere confound teir language, tat tey may not understand one anoter s speec (Gen. 11:7). Tis was not said to te angels, else it would be go ye or do ye confound teir language. Tis is a council of te Godead; just like Genesis 1:26 werein God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness... Tat us is in te plural in te ebrew language 1,000 s of times. God refers to imself in tat number in te Old Testament. Tis work was above te power of angels to do. None but God, tat gave to man te faculty of speec, and te use of language, could confound it. Wic was as great an instance of Divine power as to bestow te gift of tongues on te Apostles at Pentecost; and te same God tat did te one did te oter. Te us ere in Genesis 11:7, are afterwards explained of Jeova imself in verse 8. Tat is capital L, capital O, capital R, capital D. So te LORD (Jeova imself) scattered tem abroad from tence upon te face of all te eart: and tey left off to build te city (Gen. 11:8). Te us of Genesis 11:7 is te antecedent pronoun, finding tat wic it answers to in te proper name Jeova of verse 8; tey are one and te same. A proof of te trinity. If not so, every time God does tis, e did not know is grammar, and e lied. But God did not lie! And e Wo gave man te gift of language knows its every function and every nuance and every meaning. Language is an exact science. If tat were not true you could not diagram a sentence, write a contract, pass and enforce laws, label a can of beans, and ave any expectation tat wat is in it is wat it says is in it. God knows te Science. e knows te rules of grammar better tan anyone else ever did. II Peter 1:20-21 says, Knowing tis first, tat no propecy of te scripture is of any private interpretation. For te propecy came not in old time by te will of man: but oly men of God spake as tey were moved by te oly Gost. God said wat e meant, and e meant wat e said. It is te devil tat comes along and says, Yea, at God really said, yea well, is tat really wat e means? But it is inerent in God s very being te ability to communicate. God did not ave to learn, as you or I do. e is te Word incarnate. e said and it came to pass. To call into question, to slander is Little ills By Nataniel ille of Plant City, Florida... and te little ills rejoice on every side (Psalms 65:12). Te New Birt #10 Evidences of aving Been Born Again Part 3 Anoter evidence of spiritual life is a desire for te Word of God. I Peter 2:2 states, As newborn babes, desire te sincere milk of te word, tat ye may grow tereby. Just as a new born baby desires is/ er moter s milk, unable to be satisfied wit anyting else; so, too, does te cild of God desire te Word of God. Te word desire means to intensely crave; to long for; to lovingly pursue. We are taugt tat tose wo are born again crave God s Word, long for te pure milk of te Word. Do you crave after te PURE Word of God? Or will any preacing do? Do you lovingly pursue is Word? If not, ten Word, to impugn is Word is to slander is very person. To say tat e did not know wat e was saying, tat e does not know ow to say it, tat e can not communicate wat e wants to say, is to slander and impugn te One of Wom it is said, Never man spake like tis man (Jon 7:46). If tere is ever a failure to communicate, it is on our part and not is. Our job is to figure out wat e said, not to question it! But wat we ave tere in verses 26-27, is te single most important occurrence effecting te fulfillment of te curse upon Canaan in our passage in capter 9 verse 25, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants sall e be unto is bretren. you are evidencing tat you are not saved. Examine your life. Do you read your Bible in your ome? Do you dread going to ear te Word of God expounded? Do you sleep at te teacing of God s Word? OR Do you love te Word of God? Do you meditate/tink upon it? O ow love I ty law! it is my meditation all te day (Ps. 119:97). Do you attend to te reading and teacing of God s Word wit an intense craving? Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exortation, to doctrine (I Tim. 4:13). Is God s Word directing your life? Ty word is a lamp unto my feet, and a ligt unto my pat (Ps. 119:105). ave you been born again? Wat is your evidence? Now tat is a ebrew yperbole: a figure of speec. Te ebrew yperbole: like Lord of lords and King of kings, tese are ebrew yperboles. Suc is also te prase: A Servant of servants. Te construction of te ebrew yperbole, in all of tese cases, speaks of, or expresses, te idea of: par excel lance. Our Lord is a Lord above all lords, and a King above all kings: not only in position, but also in quality. Tat is te idea tat is expressed tere. Of course e is a King above kings in position. All te Word of God teaces tat. But te ebrew yperbole as reference in particular to quality. Te NIV, wic is a corrupt translation: te devils own, (Continued on page 4)

Page 4 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 3) translates tis verse (9:25) Cursed be Canaan! Te lowest of slaves will e be to is broters. And tat in fact is an absolutely false translation (of wic te NIV is utterly prone to exibit). But to te contrary, in te tinking of te far eastern mind, tis would be like a man wo ad a tousand servants, and tere is one wo just excellet tem all: te best servant e ad! As to quality: a servant of servants! e excelled tem all. Not te lowest of slaves. But Canaan would serve is fellow man, in a way, far beyond te average servant. A servant, none te less, but a servant of servants Par Excel lance! I find it very interesting toug, tat te liberal position, and teir liberal translation: te NIV, supports slavery, and seeks to bring it about (toug tey raise a ue and a cry to try to pretend oterwise). Tey are eiter trying to cast aspersion upon te Word of God, or tey are manifesting blatant ypocrisy in teir politics! And today, tey would in fact subjugate te wole uman race to te bondage of socialism and totalitarianism if only tey could. Liberalism as always been self contradictory. But Isaia 32:5 says tat tere is coming a day wen, Te vile person sall be no more called liberal, nor te curl said to be bountiful, but tey will be seen for wat tey are. And we see tat tey are known for teir works, even teir wicked translations of te Word of God. But I want you to notice ere, Noa cursed Canaan, e did not curse am (te one wo saw is nakedness), e cursed am s son. For in old Semitic tradition, if you curse a man, you, in effect, curse is fater. If Noa ad cursed am e d a been cursing imself! e cursed am s son: Canaan; and cursed am in te process... and cursed all teir progeny as well...as te curse went out and was passed on. So tere would be degrees of tis curse as it went out troug tese men s descendents. And tat is exactly wat we find istorically, as we sall see. Now I want you to notice in capter 10 tat tere are tree divisions, so tat we migt outline it tusly: GENESIS CAPTER Te descendants of Japet (verses 2-5). Including Russia and te Germanic peoples (and most all of te European nations) by teir ancient names; te Indo-European peoples. Wat we would generally speak of as Caucasians today. itler fanatically and satanically singled out wat e tougt of as a superior strain of tese and spoke of te Aryan races. Keep in mind our opening passage: Acts 17:26-27, tat God at made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all te face of te eart, and at determined te times before appointed, and te bounds of teir abitation; Tat tey sould seek te Lord, if aply tey migt feel after im, and find im, toug e be not far from every one of us:... Modern man as unscientifically ascribed tat term races to te different families of man; and by so doing tey temselves ave created racial strife and division. Again: te liberals own empasis of wording, creating wat tey temselves pretend to decry. Creating racism by teir unnatural division and by teir constant empasis upon differences tat God s Word does not even recognize. We are all of te same race. We are all of te Adamic race. And we all need to be concerned wit our standing before God, and not our standing before our fellow man. We ave all sinned in Adam, and need forgiveness in Crist. And all tis constant reporting and empasis upon false divisions and differences only serves as a diversionary tactic of te devil tat seeks to keep men s attentions from tis all important uman need of finding peace wit God in Crist. It is God Wo Adam and all is descendents ave offended. 2. Te descendants of am (verses 6-20). Cus is Etiopia, Mizraim is Egypt, ten you see te Canaanites tere in verse 7 are te peoples tat populated te wole Arab peninsula at one time, te same Seba and Dedan wo are allied wit us in te Middle East today as seen in Ezekiel 38: all tose ric Arab Emirates; wo ave since become overrun by te descendents of Ismael and of Esau, but are still named after te first inabitants. Tere is also te first Babylonian Empire: te Old Babylonian Empire, verses Tere it was amitic. But te Neo-Babylonian Empire later on would be Semitic, as te Semitic peoples displaced te earlier amitic tribes. Ten tere is te Assyrian Empire tere in verse 11. Ludim in Lybia (v:13); and, as I said, Mizraim is Egypt. Te Pilistines are in v:14 (Pilistim); and notice especially (because we are going to see it again later) I want you to notice Captorim in verse 14, tis is Minoa, Minos, or te Old Minoan Civilization on te Island of Crete as tey came to be called after teir first great king: King Minos. But ten, as tey expanded onto te Greek mainland, it became known as te Mycenaean Civilization, tat was later conquered and pused out by te elenistic Greeks or sons of Javan, as we ad in verse 4 (during te later expansion of te sons of Japet, tese will come down, over 1,000 years later, but still almost 1,000 B.C. to us). But I want you to remember tat te first people wo lived tere on te Greek mainland were tese sons of am, te Captorim tat we see in v:14. And ten, you ave te Sidonians of Sidon in verse 15 (Tat by verese 19 is seen as it will become: a city. Te city of Sidon. Tis is te beginning of wat will later be seen to be tat great seafaring and trading people: te Poenicians; wo in all likeliood sailed as far as even to te new world, possibly even becoming te beginning of te earliest Mesoamerican civilizations). And ten you ave et in verse 15: te ittites. You know, arceologists did not even believe tat tere ever was a ittite Civilization, toug it is mentioned in te Bible some 26 times, no one believed it existed! Until lo, and beold in 1872, arceological proof of its existence was found trougout Asia Minor. You know, arceologists can be rigt, if tey will just go by te Bible. And ten, I believe tat te Sinite in verse 17 may very well be te originator of a people wo ave been known trougout istory by te prefix Sino, as in Sino-American relations, or as in te Sino-Japanese war. We are speaking of Cina are we not? I believe everybody wo is on te face of te eart today is descended from one of tese names in Genesis capter And finally: te descendants of Sem (verses 21-31). Tere, you ave Eber in verse 21; and tat, in fact, is were te name ebrew comes from. Tis is were te ebrew people derive teir name. And ten most all of te names associated terewit (Continued on page 5)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 5 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 4) in te following verses are people wo inabit te Arabian peninsula or oter areas of te Middle East today. You see many of tese names trougout te Bible are still recognizable today. And verse 32 says: Tese are te families of te sons of Noa, after teir generations, in teir nations: and by tese were te nations divided in te eart after te flood. Now ten, ere in verses 9-10, Nimrod, a descendent of am, took te lead in te building of te Tower of Babel. And istory sows us, tat tey also took te brunt of te curse: te confounding of teir language. Wic is evidenced by te fact tat in Africa, for example, you can ave two tribes on two different sides of te same river, teir languages seemingly totally unrelated. Obviously, bot of tem amitic. Bot descendants of am. But mass confusion reigns in te amitic tongues, because tey received te brunt of te curse. Verses, for example, te Romance languages (tat is not romance, as in love; but tat is Romance, as in derived from te Roman or Latin tongue: as in Italian, Spanis, Portuguese, Frenc, Rumanian, etc. Tey are all obviously related - wit relatively little cange (as compared to amitic tongues, wic are wildly varied or canged). But I would ave you to know also, tat not all amites are black men. Te word Poenician for example, in te Old Testament. Etymologically, te word Poenician originally meant: red skin. Tat may not be a politically correct praseology today, to call someone a redskin, tey say tat is degrading today. But once tere was a people wo openly acknowledged and owned temselves as tat, and called temselves: Poenicians or red-skins. And I can prove by te record of istory tat tey were originally of amitic origin. And istory sows tat most of te amitic families were driven out of teir original omelands and pused along before following conquering ordes of: 1 st Semitic families, and ten 2 ndly Japetic families. So tat teir original omelands became overrun, and tey became so intermarried, and eavily influenced over a 2,000 year period, tat tey eventually took on a strong Semitic caracter, till even te language tey ended up wit in some cases is considered by most to ave become mostly Semitic by te end of te istory of some of teir earliest civilizations. Suc was te fate of te transition from te Old Babylonian Empire (amitic) to te Neo-Babylonian Empire over a tousand years later on (Semitic). Suc was also te istory of empires in Egypt between te old kingdom and te new kingdom wen Egypt was overrun by te yksos, a Semitic people from across te Sinai. And I believe tis pattern also played out in te area of te Assyrian Empire. And meanwile, worldwide, te amites kept serving teir fellow man by settling a region, just to be pused out; tus fulfilling te propecy of becoming a servant of servants sall e be unto is bretren (Gen. 9:25). Tey served as te original conquerors of te land, te original inventors of te agriculture and te industry wic was necessary to do so. Te original innovators of all te basic inventions of man. And tat is wat we will see trougout istory, over and over again = a supplanting of peoples; 1 st, a settling of a land by te descendents of am. am develops te land, subdues it (te first to be pused out on te frontier because of is confusing language, is bad language, if you will. No one can understand im). But as e moves on: e is te first to develop te land, te first to cultivate it, dig or establis wells, selters, trails, and te tools and attire necessary to endure watever climate it appens to be. Just as te wite man ad to live like te Indian ere in America wen first e came to tis new land. Ten came te Semites, and ten te Japetites to (quote) dwell in teir stead (as te Bible itself says it over and over again). Even as te ebrew people pused out te amites tat were in te land before tem wen te Lord gave tem te land. It said repeatedly, tey dwelt in teir stead, as it says repeatedly in te second capter of Deuteronomy. Let me give you an example of wat I am talking about: Let me start by telling you, I took a course down at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee, 30 some years ago. It was on te istorical root of te Englis language: as derived from te Indo-European tongues, as seen troug comparative linguistics and te etymology of words in our language; or tat is: teir istorical roots. It was taugt by te late Professor Edwin Irwin, peraps one of te foremost professors of language trougout te Sout at tat time. We studied language etymologically, again: referring to te istory of words, but in teir istorical setting. Tat was te empasis. Now, you can study te istory of a language and te migration of a people all at one and te same time, by te place names tat tey give to tings. Again, tis was te central teme of te course: Englis came troug te Germanic branc of te Indo-European family. Te Germanic Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain took place between 450 and 600 AD, but it goes back way before tat, as it traced its way across all of Europe. And you can trace te migration pats tat tey took by te place names tey gave to geograpical features as tey came across te European continent. So we know tat te same people wo named tis mountain range (for example), in Sout Eastern Europe, were te same people, same language, wic later on a few centuries furter on named suc and suc a river, or a lake (from te same language you see: demonstrating only a few centuries of cange in te language). And tus we can see ow te language develops as time goes on. But ere ten is te evidence terein, tat tese were te same peoples, and tat tis was just te known course of te development of our language, and proof of teir migration from all te way back to te Fertile Crescent traced troug te language. And in te course of all tis it is freely admitted tat te linguists all believe tat all te languages of man do in fact go back to a common language tat ad its origin somewere in te Fertile Crescent, a grand daddy Sanskrit of all time, wic as since been lost to mankind. But O ow tey love to speculate on it! But wat are we talking about ere? We are talking about a preflood language, are we not? A pretower of Babel language. Now I got along wit tat professor famously. Tat is, until e decided to ave us give an (Continued on page 6)

Page 6 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 5) oral report on any aspect of te course tat we so coose; and e would count tat as our term final. And so, I cose to tell about ow everyting tat we ad studied in tat course perfectly fits te outline of istory as it is recorded in te Bible; but it was diametrically opposed to te teories of te origin of man, as is taugt in tat same institution just down te all in teir science classes. And all tose pop quizzes tat I ad maxed, all tose A s on everyting I ad turned in up to tat point - tey all got averaged out to a C (for one reason and one reason alone: tat was a preparatory class in wic te student was required to get a B or above if one wanted to go on to do doctoral level work at tat institution. And wit my views, toug tey did adroitly sum up te gist of tat class: te trut tat te evidence pointed to was tere for all to see; but tat I called attention to it, was not in te least bit appreciated. And I was effectively being kept out of te inner circle, by being given a C. e saw to it tat I would not be allowed to go on and get a PD. But tat is alrigt, I ad no intention of entering tat circle anyway. But you see, it can all be traced back to te Tigris-Euprates valley. Up over te Caspian Sea, troug soutern Russia, and all te way across Europe. In te Indo-Aryan or Indo-European languages we see te sons of Japet, migrating from te Fertile Crescent, and ten nortwards: till some went sout into India, and some went Nortwest troug Europe. Tat course was a course on te languages of te sons of Japet, toug tey knew it not. In tat course we again spoke of a sub-planting, werein someone else was coming along and dwelling in ones stead, even as we ave erein Biblically observed before. For example, I believe tat te Celts, wic originally populated England, were all amitic, all descendents of am, all following tat exact self same pattern as befits te propecy of te sons of Noa in Genesis 9:25-27, and all of capter 10. Even so, te Germanic tribes broke down and divided, coming across Europe in te course of two tousand years; first te Normans, and ten te Anglo Saxons overran England and displaced te Celtic tribes; even to te extent tat today it is called England Land of te Angles or Anglo-Saxons. We can trace tem by teir language (of course, tis is closer to our istory, and we know wat appened tere), but ten, too, wen we speak of Indo-European Aryan languages: and tey talk about te Aryan invasion into India. (Some of tese Germanic tribes went nort, some went sout.) Tousands of years before Crist amites ad settled in India. And yet, mere undreds of years before Crist - Germanic tribes, or Aryan tribes pused down troug India, pusing tem out; driving tem across te Pacific to become Polynesians, and te Indonesians, and te Aborigines of Australia. And you yet see were tey came from in tose words: Indonesia, and Indocina. Tey came from India. And tere was yet preserved, in te cast system of some parts of Soutern India a people tat yet bear a strong family resemblance to te Aborigines of Australia. In fact, I ave recently seen a study were tis as been verified by DNA analysis. Te Aborigines are te descendents of te original inabitants of India. And some of tem are still in India; tey could not get tem all out, toug tey would ave if tey could. In te prejudices of tese Aryan tribes, tey formed te Cast System te worst form and longest lasting form of aparteid tat tere ever was (for tey developed a wole religious system to justify its existence!). Tat is wat induism is! Neverteless, as tey slowly mixed races te igborn ligter skinned peoples subjected te darker ones as tey blended into modern India. Neverteless, amites also populated Cina, Korea...tey came across te Bearing Strait into Alaska, down te coast of Nort America long before tey ever spread across te continent. Tey took te pat of least resistance first: down te west coast...all te way to te tip of Sout America. Wen I was a pastor in Ancorage, Alaska tere was an Eskimo broter wo was a member in te curc tere. igly educated, wit a PD in geology, e worked for te oil companies. But e ad an interest in languages. e ad eard te Korean language, as well as oter Asian languages. And e ad a tape of te Araucanian Indian language of te tribes of soutern Cile and Argentina at te souternmost tip of Sout America. e told me tat e was convinced tat tis was distinctly descended from is native language, and tat is was obviously descended from te Korean. Tierra Del Fuego, te modern language equivalent of te Araucanian Indian language name for tat end of te eart region, means just tat end of te eart! Watever else tose migrating peoples migt ave known by te time tat tey got tere, tey understood at least tis, tat tey were fulfilling some old cultural mandate to spread abroad and to Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenis te eart, and subdue it: and ave dominion... over te wole creation, as God ad given tem command to do so in Genesis 1:28 and also in capter 9 and verses 1-2. Tey knew tat tey were fulfilling tat same cultural mandate; and tey knew wen tey got tere, tat tey ad gone as far as tey could. I myself ave eard te affirmative expression yes in many of tese languages, as well as in many of te languages of te Nort American Indians. Tey are all eiter a variant of a! or aa! As te affirmative is pronounced in Japanese and Cinese. All obviously related. All obviously from te same istorical source. And so time and time again we see, tat wat we know about te istory of language is diametrically opposed to all tis silly scientific? speculation tat is going on about te origin of te species. Wat we know overtrows te speculation of men. Today, it is becoming popular and extremely politically correct to teac tat te cradle of life was in Africa. I am afraid tat tey do tat to appease te racial political activism tat is so prevalent today. Tere is no real evidence for it. A few sards of puzzles cast to fit te preconceived opinions of a few men wo ave been put forward to cast doubt upon mountains of known trut. It is being used to bolster black pride. But tey would not need tat, and would not even want it, if tey only knew teir own istory. All of tose early Civilizations of (Continued on page 7)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 7 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 6) man were amitic in origin. Te Old Babylonian, te Egyptian, te ittites, te great Mycenaean s, te astounding Poenicians. Tey were te first explorers and colonizers of te old world. Tese were te first to cultivate te land: but ten only to leave it to oters. Tey were te first inventors of all te most basic inventions of man: te scyte, te weel, te water weel; tey first developed te art of fabrics, sewing and weaving; te first to domesticate animals; to develop te basic food crops, suc as corn, potatoes, beans, and cereals; tey were te first to begin a system of banking and commerce; record keeping, accounting suc as are seen in te clay tablets we dig up out of te mounds tat are left of teir cities. Basic plumbing, porcelain and glass. Bot paper and gunpowder were of Cinese, amitic origin. amites were te beginners of te so-called bronze age after te flood. Te first to use most all te metals. Listen closely and understand: today, as you look out upon te so-called primitive peoples of te world: amites are not primitive races; tere are no primitive races. Tere are no Preistoric peoples. Tere is only degenerate man! Te so-called primative tribes tat are found today are wat is left over after a civilization as degenerated to te point of collapse and beyond. Antropologically, te antropologist likes to classify te races as: 1. Negroid, 2. Mongoloid, and 3. Caucasoid. Tat is a false division. Utterly misleading! Negroid and Mongoloid are bot amitic. Ten tey lump bot Japet and Sem under Caucasoid. Tey ave all kinds of problems wit tis kind of classification system. It just does not fit! It would be amazing ow well it would fit, if tey would just recognize and use God s outline of it all: amitic, Semitic, and Japetic. As we ave seen: tere is only one race: but tere are tree families: 1. Tere was te amitic Civilizations (wic ran teir course). 2. Ten tere was te Semitic Civilizations (Assur, 10:22, te Assyrian Civilization. Arpaxad: te Caldean, or Neo- Babylonian (you will recall tat te Old Babylonian Empire was amitic; but te Neo-Babylonian Empire, a different people entirely, were Semitic). Aram, V:22 again, te Syrian nation. Elam becomes Persia, and on and on. 3. Te tird round of civilizations are Japetic, te ancestry of wic, or in wic, most Americans fit. Again, anoter correction wic is needed: is tat, if you go to study istory in a secular scool or college you will study: 1. Ancient istory. 2. And Modern istory. 3. Tey may even trow in te Middle Ages in tere somewere (but in bot teir Modern istory, and teir middle istory, you will be studying Japetic istory). In reality, tere is: 1. amitic istory, wen am was in te ascendency (up until about 1500 B.C. inter lapping wit). 2. Semitic istory (from about 2000 B.C. to 500 B.C.) and 3. Japetic istory, starting wit te ellenistic Greeks on tru Rome and on to us. Te 1st two waves of civilization, from about 2,400 B.C. (after te flood) to about 300 B.C., was wen te amitic civilizations ad paved te way for and were being supplanted by Semitic peoples, tat came along and dwelt in teir stead. Tat is our capter 9:26 in suc a way: served tey Sem. Tey prepared te way for tem. Even as te Israelites came in (Semitic) - took te land of Canaan (amitic) - and dwelt in teir stead. And now, in more modern istory, Japet as been in te ascendancy. And again, e took from am watsoever came to is and. Not only in England, as wit te Celts, as we ave already seen. Not only in Europe; but even over in tis emispere, te great civilizations of te Inca, and te Aztec, and te Mayan: tey, too, were amitic in origin. Even in Nort America. ow did we settle tis land? We took it inc by inc from te amitic Indians wo were ere before us. And tey taugt us ow to plant corn, and ow to fis te beaver ponds, and unt te buffalo, and live off te land; and ten we pused tem out, and took it over. Listen, I am not passing judgment, one way or te oter. God said tat is te way it would be! Today, Japetites control everyting from Europe to America to Australia. And in every case we took it away from te amites. Tere as never been anoter document like te Table of te Nations in Genesis capter 10! God foretold te complete istory of man before it ever even appened! In capter 10 and verse 2 you ave Germany (Gomer), Russia (Magog), te Medes (Madai), te Greeks (Javan), more of te people wo populated Russia (Tubal and Mescec), and te Tracians (Tiras). Javan tere: one of tose first barbarian tribes to descend out of te Barbarian ordes of Europe from te nort (as even oters descended muc later at te fall of te Roman Empire); but Javan ere, descended into te Greek Peloponnesus (tat and saped peninsula tat angs down into te Mediterranean Sea just west of Asia Minor, tat was te Greek mainland of Aristotle and Plato fame. Before Plato and Aristotle ever even lived: Javan, te ellenists, took it away from te Mycenaean Civilization (tat is tat Captorim of Capter 10 verse 14 in te amitic section). {And I will sow you someting else te Bible tells us about tem in just a moment}. Neverteless, all te great powers today are all Japetic, wit te exception of Cina (God as reserved tem for a specific purpose as well, at te end of te Tribulation, at te battle of Armageddon). And te Semitic Jews are rigt were God said tey would be in tis, te last days. And so we see all te nations still represented ere at te end as well. God s purpose is still being fulfilled in tem. But as to teir strengt, tey ave all come fort as a flower: to bud, and to blossom, and to bloom; eac to fall to te eart just to be replaced by anoter. And tey will not recycle again: te strengt of te nations is spent! Tese cocoa leaf cewing natives of Columbia and Peru are wat is left, after te collapse of a civilization! Tese ead unter cannibals of Central America is wat is left! Tere are no primitive tribes! Tere is only degenerate man. Te Table of te Nations! Tere is not anoter document like it anywere in any library of man! Given before it ever even appened. Listen, we do not ave to approve any of te atrocities of istory. But we can not cange it. Yet we better well believe it. It will be true weter we believe it (Continued on page 8)

Page 8 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 7) or not. I did a study on slavery in conjunction wit tis: bear in mind tat tere as almost always been slavery; but trougout most of man s istory men ave enslaved people wo looked muc like temselves wen one nation conquered a neigboring nation and enslaved tem. Modern gangland slavery, plantation slavery, wat is known as racial slavery, is of a rater more recent origin. In te 1400 s as te Portuguese prince known as Prince enry te Navigator sent is expeditions exploring te coast of Africa, e received an exclusive francise: a Papal concession, a Bull of autority from te Pope of Rome, granting te Portuguese all te gold and ivory and slave trade of Africa. On January 8, 1455 Pope Nicolas V granted to King Alfonso V of Portugal te exclusive rigt to all suc trade. As quoted from Wikipedia: In 1452, Pope Nicolas V issued te papal bull Dum Diversas, granting Afonso V te rigt to reduce Saracens, pagans and any oter unbelievers to ereditary slavery. Tis approval of slavery was reaffirmed and extended in te Romanus Pontifex bull of 1455 (also by Nicolas V). Tese papal bulls came to serve as a justification for te subsequent era of slave trade and European colonialism. Even secular istory lays te blame at te feet of Rome. But it was not long before tey found tat tere was not very muc gold and tere was not tat muc ivory eiter. A, but tere were slaves a plenty. Before long te Spanis King demanded suc an exclusive rigt as well. And it wasn t very muc longer till oter Popes began dividing up te New World between Spain and Portugal to wic tey migt import tose slaves to build teir plantations: Pope Alexander VI, 1493; Pope Paul III, Tis is wy Brazil speaks Portuguese and all te rest of Sout America speaks Spanis. It s tere for all te world to see. It was almost a undred years later (a full century later!) tat te Dutc and te Englis, not being able to witstand te temptation of suc wealt, entered into te slave trade as well. But originally tese were te wares of Mystery Babylon. aving so long enslaved souls, it was not suc a great leap for tem to enslave te bodies of men as well. If you want to see it all foretold in te Word of God, just look over in Revelation 18:13. Many of us know full well wo Revelation 17 & 18 is talking about. Many of us were saved out of tis system and can claim Revelation 18:4 for ourselves. Many ave been er wares trougout er incarnations, but te end of er wares are slaves, and te souls of men. Tey tink to trade in souls in teir ellis doctrine of purgatory werein tey tink tat tey can sell masses for te souls in purgatory. Tere as possibly never been a more satanically inspired doctrine tan tis, but Roman Catolicism was also te first to translate Genesis 9:25, lowest of slaves in justification of er enslavement of oters. Te Catolic Bible and te NIV sow teir true colors in being in agreement, in tat bot of tem give tis same utterly false rendition; and tus seek to conceal te glorious trut of wic tis paper is written, te trut of te fulfillment of tese verses. istory as been a istory of man s inumanity to man, because of sin, because of te fall of man in te Garden of Eden. But tere is a beautiful side to tis as well; and tat is te side tat we want to consider now. Look again at Genesis capter 9 verse 26. It says: Blessed be te LORD God of Sem;... wo was te forefater of Abraam. And verse 27, God sall enlarge Japet, and e sall dwell in te tents of Sem;... Tose of you wo are true students of propecy know tis to be Messianic in nature: Sem would be especially blessed by being te natural ancestor of te Messia, and Japet would dwell in te tents of Sem. And by and large Cristianity as found its way in Western Civilization amongst te Japetites. But you and I bot know full well tat tere is not a amite or a Semite wo knows Crist tat does not rejoice over tis as well, and counts it a blessing just to know im. I want you to see today, tat toug God singled out Abraam of te family of Sem, and promised to im a seed, a most peculiar seed (singular), te Crist-line (troug wic would come te Crist); tat seed was carried troug Abraam. And yet, I want you to see tat God never forgot any of te families of man. Let us go aead to te New Testament now to see te fulfillment tere of Mark 15:21, and we will wrap tis up wit te blessing. (Tis is recorded in Luke 23:26 as well). In Mark 15:13-14, it is recorded tat te Jews cried crucify im... crucify im. Te Jews (te Semites) cried tat. Ten in verses 12-15, And Pilate answered and said again unto tem, Wat will ye ten tat I sall do unto im wom ye call te King of te Jews? And tey cried out again, Crucify im. Ten Pilate said unto tem, Wy, wat evil at e done? And tey cried out te more exceedingly, Crucify im. And so Pilate, willing to content te people, released Barabbas unto tem, and delivered Jesus, wen e ad scourged im, to be crucified. Pilate was a Gentile, a Roman governor, of te seed of Japet! Ten verses 16-21, And te soldiers led im away into te all, called Praetorium; and tey call togeter te wole band. And tey cloted im wit purple, and platted a crown of torns, and put it about is ead, And began to salute im, ail, King of te Jews! And tey smote im on te ead wit a reed, and did spit upon im, and bowing teir knees worsipped im. And wen tey ad mocked im, tey took off te purple from im, and put is own clotes on im, and led im out to crucify im. And tey compel one Simon a Cyrenian (tat is in Africa, tis is a amite!), wo passed by, coming out of te country, te fater of Alexander and Rufus, (im tey did compel) to bear is cross. Every jot and every tittle, every word in te Word of God is tere for a purpose. And so we see all tree of te descendents of Noa tere at te crucifixion. Today, te Catolics blame te Jews, and te Jews blame te Catolics as te descendents of Rome. But listen! If you do not take te blame, own te part, tat e died for you, for your sins, ten are ye yet in your sins. We are getting aead of ourselves ere: but you migt notice a center reference on Rufus in verse 21. Wy are Alexander and Rufus even mentioned? Te cildren of tis Simon te Cyrenian? As (Continued on page 9)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 9 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 8) I say, I do not believe tat tere is anyting in te Word of God tat is not tere on purpose. Many believe tat tis is te same Rufus tat is mentioned in Romans 16:13, Rufus cosen in te Lord. I do not know tat for certain. But wy does God tell us tis ere oterwise? Rome was a multicultural civilization as well. And tose Roman roads were as muc an innovation and encouragement to travel in tat day as te automobile as been in ours. And all roads lead to Rome. But ere, te inerrant and inspired account does tell us tat all tree of te families of man were involved in te crucifixion and all tree ad a and at Calvary. All tree were guilty of te sed blood of te Lord Jesus Crist. Not a one abstained. Eac was of service and eac served eac oter. Eac one was aiding and abetting in tis atrocity of te murder of te Son of Man. In tis picture, not a one of tem would ave tis man, Jesus, to rule and to reign over tem. Let every reader wo migt question te Word of God seriously ask temselves te question: In Wose plan and purpose, and under Wose and, was painted te picture we are about to see? I wis I ad time to develop tis as well: 1. Te Jews - te Semites - represented ortodox religion. 2. Simon te Cyrenian represented paganism - eatenism, in all its forms. 3. Pilate represented te religion of man - umanism, liberalism, and intellectualism: e wo said: Trut, wat is trut? looked Trut in te face - and did not recognize it - did not believe in any absolute truts - did not believe you could know anyting of eternal value - a liberal before is time. Pilate burns in ell today, witout te sligtest sliver of comfort to be found anywere in any dark corner of all is power to reason. Wat sincere reader would onestly like to be in is soes at tis moment? All are in rebellion against God - you see - naturally speaking. Ten now, tink wit me and to save time: Acts Capters 8, 9, & 10 (and it is my ope tat you will study eac torougly, but I will try to condense): Acts 8: God saves te Etiopian Eunuc (a black man - a amite). I believe tat tis was te seed of te Donatist Revival trougout Nort Africa. Tey of te black tents, as tey were called in Benedict s istory of te Donatists. For tose of you wo are familiar wit te cart at te end of Te Trail of Blood, Broter J. M. Carroll speaks of te Donatists as te first strongold of te Anabaptists. In Benedict s istory of te Donatists (1875), Broter David Benedict goes into great dept about tem. Wen te Roman Catolic Curc was just coming into existence 300 years after Crist, tese were te first tat tis new curcstate-religion wielded te sword of te state to try to eliminate during te fourt century. Emperor Constantine tried to force everyone wo named te name of Crist to join is new abomination. e sent so-called saint Augustine of Roman Catolic fame to Cartage to interrogate tem as to wy tey would not join in: wy would you remain separate from us, wy would you sun te spoils of curc-state religion? Some of tem walked as muc as 1,000 miles across Nort Africa, ready always to give an answer to every man tat asket you a reason of te ope tat is in you, as I Peter 3:15 says. And we ave tat famous Donatist quote in wic tey asked back: Wat place at te prelate in te palace, and wat place at te prince in te pulpit? Wat were tey saying? But Render to Caesar te tings tat are Caesar s, and to God te tings tat are God s. Tey plainly said tat Caesar ad no place in te pulpit, nor any place in dictating wat men were to believe. Today, tere is a faction (Farrakan, Moammed Ali and te like) tat would lead black people into becoming black Muslims. Tey would ave tem to tink of tat as teir roots! And would lead tem to trust in a religion tat as only and ever tried to sell tem into slavery. Wy would anyone want to trace teir roots to some 1200 years later wen te Arabian Muslims marced into Africa...bougt out wole tribes...pitted tribe against tribe to enslave tribes...tat tey could ten marc tem out to te gold coast and sell tem to some Portuguese or Spanis slaver... Wy would you want to do tat? Were are tere any desirable roots in tat? Tese people were not Muslim before or after tat, until tey were forced into it. I could go back and identify wit my ancestors, and stain my skin blue, and coat my air wit lye, and make it to stand straigt up and back: running around worsipping Woden and Frigg and Baldar - and te spirit of every ill and dale. But by te grace of God we could identify wit te Donatists, and te Bogomils, te Paulicians, te Waldenses and Albigenses; te Apostle Paul, and te Lord Jesus Crist imself. Tese are worty examples to follow after. Well, did you ever wonder wy God saved first a amite, in Acts capter 8? And wy in tis order? First te Etiopian Eunuc in capter 8. Ten, Saul of Tarsus - a Semite, in Acts capter 9: renaming im te Apostle Paul. And ten finally back to back, in Acts capter 10, Cornelius, tat Roman Centurion - a Japetite, and all is ouseold, as tese sons of Japet would dwell in te tents of Sem. Tese tree, in te exact same order as Noa s propecy upon is tree sons tere in Genesis capter 9: am, Sem & Japet; just in tat order. You see, God never forgot about te tree families of man. e sows tat tey are all guilty of te blood of Crist at te crucifixion; but ten, e sows tat e applies te benefits of tat sacrifice to some from all tree families as well (wosoever will repent and believe te Gospel: for tem Crist as paid it all). And tese men become one in Crist (te only way men will ever be one!). Wen te Pope came to Denver in 1993 (at te time I was living in Denver), tey ad teir world yout day, and tey ad tis little emblem: a row of stick figure people joined all in a row, joined and to and, and in and, on and on across te page. Tey are trying to get everyone to join and in and in teir unoly cause, but God long ago foretold it. For Proverbs 11:21 warns of it, Toug and join in and, te wicked sall not be unpunised: but te seed of te rigteous sall be delivered. And Proverbs 16:5 perfectly describes teir modern attempts to ensnare men s souls, Every one tat is proud in eart is an abomination to te LORD: toug and join in and, e sall not be unpunised. I believe tat tis verse depicts (Continued on page 10)

Page 10 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 9) te spirit of anticrist tat is beind tis ecumenicalism, wile te previous verse depicts te people tat are joining ands verses te Lord s people wo remain seperate. But tey are te ones wo are coosing tose symbols as trademarks of teir unscriptural ecumenicalism. Were in te Word of God does it say tat te Lord s curces are to join wit te world s curces? Nowere! Werefore come out from among tem, and be ye separate, sait te Lord, and touc not te unclean ting; and I will receive you, And will be a Fater unto you, and ye sall be my sons and daugters, sait te Lord Almigty (II Cor. 6:17-18). And te verses tat go before perfectly describe teir catedrals and curces tat are filled wit idols! An idol is an idol is an idol. You know, our Acts capter 10 ere is were te Catolics and te Protestants try to get teir ouseold salvation. Tey try to say tat if you are saved (and by tat, tey mean baptized or part of some curc-state covenant, or curc covenant as a curc member; tey ave never understood true scriptural salvation); but if you are saved your cildren will be saved. But tat is not wat Acts capter 10 is teacing at all. In Acts 10 tey were all evidently old enoug to believe, and all tat believed and were tus saved already, were baptized (10:43). And God gave visible manifestation, affirming, tat te Gospel was now gone out unto te Gentiles (unto Japet ere in large measure). But tis ouseold bunc come up wit godmoters and godfaters, totally unscriptural terms: people wo are supposed to see to it tat tese cildren wic tey ave imagined into tis context, will be brougt up in tat vain fait (someting wic tey are in no way able to assure; seeing: salvation is of te Lord ). But tey would enlist one generation to enslave te next if you will let tem. Dealing in te souls of men. If tey would just preac, Except ye repent and believe te Gospel, you will peris in te eternal flames of ell! If tey would just do tat and believe tat, tey would quit trying to import te pagan beat of te music of Africa into our music, tat is destroying our young people. Tey would quit trying to import te paganism of my forefaters into te environmental political agenda tat is trying to get people to ug trees and worsip moter eart and te like. And tey would stop creating te racial class warfare tat tey temselves are te autors of. Tey are trying to create a common cause upon wic to build a new world order, and all tey are doing is creating ypenated-americans. Afro- Americans; Anglo-Americans; Spanis-Americans; Latin- Americans: tey are celebrating diversity and causing division. Teir own leaders empower temselves, keeping teir own people in poverty, dependent upon government. And teir message is: you ave all been done wrong: te black man as been wronged, te red man as been wronged; everyone as been done wrong; and by God, we ougt to be indignant about it! Let me tell you God s Kingdom is built upon anoter message entirely. We ave all done wrong, and we ougt to be asamed and repent of it. In Acts 8, 9, & 10 God saves individuals from eac and every one of te tree families of man. Saves tem for time and eternity. And tere tey are but a sample, of te fullness of tat wic tey represent: te fullness of te family of God. I would like to direct your attention now to Acts capters 24, 25, & 26; were te Apostle Paul stands before tree oter men, to witness and to testify before tem. Tink wit me for a moment on tese tree men in Acts 24, 25, & 26. Now, working backwards: I ave known for a long time tat erod Agrippa te II, in Acts 26 was a Semite: an Edomite, a descendent of Esau, son of Isaac, son of Abraam. A Semite more closely related to te Jews tan most of te sons of Sem. And I ave known tat Porcius Festus in Acts 25, as te Roman Governor, was a Japetite, a Roman. I suspected for a long time tat te preceding Roman Governor: Felix in Acts capter 24, was a amite; but it took some time before I ad proof. I read in Josepus (Josepus, te 1 st Century Jewis istorian). e wrote and spoke of Felix, te broter of Pallas. Of ow tat tey were bot ex-slaves, and tat Felix ad become te Procurator of Judea troug te influence of is broter Pallas. Josepus tells ow Felix ruled wit te appetite of a slave, but te autority of a king. e considered imself licensed to commit any crime or cruelty. I eventually learned tat is broter Pallas ad gained for imself a position of prominence as one of te tree igest Civil Servants at Rome. It turns out: Emperor Claudius ad appointed ex-slaves to administer te government of Rome. e figured tat tey would so owe im teir allegiance tat e could safely wine and dine imself to deat witout worry of adversaries. And it worked, e did. But Pallas ad finagled imself into being in carge of te bread supply. e determined wo ate or not. And by clever manipulation of tis power e was able to secure te popularity of te masses. Not only so, but e became filty ric. Yet, in all my study I could nowere find te ancestry of tese two broters. Josepus, now and again, mentions one Tacitus, anoter 1 st Century istorian: a Roman istorian. So it came to pass one Saturday afternoon, my daugter and I spent te wole day down at te Main Denver Public Library. Our nation s public libraries ave long been in te process of relegating serious study materials into storage and onto electronic storage files; tat, unless you know about tem, nobody will ever even see tem anymore. Tey are not pysically tere, to be seen, and to spark a young mind s curiosity. Even te new arcitecture of our modern libraries is an arcitecture of open and empty space: large voids of airy notingness. But tis was back in te day wen all tis was in te process of coming to pass. And tat day I kept finding books in te card catalogs tat were not to be found on te selves. I would make inquiry and te librarian would ave to unlock te basement and run down and rescue some book tat was being readied to be discarded or sold off, find wicever book I ad requested, and bring it back up tat it migt be perused one last time. After quite a number of trips up and down tose stairs te librarian finally got tired of all tat and just gave me te key and told me to lock up wen I was done. O, wat a sigt to beold! 11 January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 11 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 10) tat tere once appened to be suc a ting as a real library wit real books, serious, sincere books! We spent te wole day down tere. Turns out, Tacitus wrote 16 annuls of te istory of Rome. Sixteen books (7, 8, 9, & 10 are missing. Nobody as tem today). e wrote 5 istories of te wars of Rome, a biograpy on Julius Agricola (a Roman General), a book on Germany and its tribes, and a dialogue on oratory. Remember, e is a 1 st Century istorian; contemporary of te time we are speaking about in te Book of Acts. e was alive at te time tat Luke was writing te Book of Acts. In te 12 t Annul of Tacitus (translated by Alfred Jon Curc & William Jackson Broadrible), in section 53 it says: Among te various items taken care of during te proceedings of a session of te Senate, in one item was offered to Pallas on te motion of Barea Soranus, counsul-elect, te decorations of te praetorsip and fifteen million sesterces. Cornelius Scipio added tat e deserved public tanks! For tinking less of is ancient nobility as a descendant from te kings of Arcadia tan of te welfare of te state, and allowing imself to be numbered among te emperors ministers. Ten is representative Claudius assured tem tat Pallas was content wit te onor, and tat e limited imself to is former poverty. A decree of te Senate was publicly inscribed on a bronze tablet, eaping te praises of Primitive frugality on a freedman, te possessor of tree undred million sesterces. Tat last, was a little bit of Tacitus s ridicule - in a sardonic comment about: eaping te praises of primitive frugality on a freedman, te possessor of 300 million sesterces. Because, you see, for example: in Donald Dudley s commentary upon Tacitus on tis very passage, e says: Tus - an ex-slave wort 300 million sesterces was tanked for sowing old-world frugality... willingly limiting imself to 300 million sesterces! (e ad plundered tat amount, from te treasury, and ere - tey ave to buy im off and bribe im to step down - wit 15 million more!) A sesterce was wort of a denarius. It is easy to compute: 300 million sesterces = s 781,250 lbs. of silver. At today s rates e was wort billions and billions of dollars! It was wat? It was politics as usual, was it not? But wen Emperor Claudius died, Nero came in, and e wanted im to step down: Nero feared Pallas! Apparently, tat was wat te bribe was all about: to get im to step down. Nero oped tat e would die, and tat all tat wealt would revert to te state. I do not know ow long e lived, but e apparently lived in luxury till te day e died. But I ave started all of tat because, listen, Acts 24, Felix was Pallas s broter. In fact, Felix evidently acquired is position as procurator of Judea wit Pallas s influence. Felix was a cruel and wicked man. Felix crucified 1,000 s of Jews. e ad enticed tis Drusilla in verse 24, at sixteen, to leave te king of Odessa and come and become is 3 rd wife. Te Jewis nation was in turmoil because of Felix. e was eventually called ome in disgrace. But wen Tacitus tells us of tat bronze inscription in wic Pallas was te descendant of ancient Arcadian kings, e tus tells us Felix s ancestry as well, because tey were broters. Arcadia, was a igland on te Greek Peloponnesus just nort of Sparta. It was a oldover, or a remnant district of tat old Mycenaean civilization tat was on te Greek mainland (a protected mountain strongold area); and tey were left tere from before te sons of Javan, before te elenistic Greeks ever sowed up, tere was tis enclave of te descendants of Captorim (remember: Captorim? In Genesis 10:14, of te sons of am). Tat is were te Mycenaean civilization came from, troug king Minos on te Island of Crete; and ten in teir next stage of growt as a civilization tey were settling on te Greek mainland. Tey were descendants of te sons of am. By te way, wen tey were being pused out of te Greek Peloponnesus, tey fled sout, into te land of Canaan. Tis is were all te Pilistines came from in abundance in te days of King Saul and King David. Were tey coming out of te woodwork? No! Tey were coming by sea out of Mycenaea, wic was being overrun by te sons of Javan. Amos 9:7 says: God brougt te Pilistines out of Captor, tis is were tey came from. Jeremia 47:4 speaks of te Pilistines, te remnant of te country of Captor. About 1100 B.C. te Dorians, te Ionians, and te Aceans (sons of Javan, son of Japet, came down from te nort after aving migrated nort of te Caspian Sea, around te Black Sea, and troug Europe; tey came down and sacked te Mycenaean civilization in te first barbarian invasion from te nort. Even as oter Germanic tribes will do later: te Gauls, te Lombards, te Gots, te uns, and te Vandals will later sack Rome. But tese sons of Javan, even in teir time, created teir own civilization: tat of classical Greek fame. Conditions were rigt for it, and tey were subsequently able to send fort Alexander te Great, wo conquered all te ten known world. But tere was a wole lot of te world tat was not known...listen,... te sons of Noa were migrating to India and Cina, and across te Bering Strait...and trougout te New World long before Columbus, even long before te Vikings. But te sons of am ad left a pocket tere: in Arcadia: amites! And in te providence of God tere was left a record of tem tere in te writings of Tacitus, tat I migt prove wereof I speak: And it is amazing wat we can prove in ancient istory if we will just believe te Bible. For example, I could prove were all tat cocaine, tat is being found in te bones and air of all tose Egyptian Parao s mummies, came from, a product of Mesoamerica in te bones of Paraos! All tat trace cocaine tat is driving te arceologists crazy. It would be easy to prove and understand to anyone wo believes te Bible and knows te istory of te Poenicians. But tat is for anoter time. Anyway, now we ave a andle on it. Take te time to meditate upon it, and put te picture togeter. Ask yourself, Wo painted tis picture tat we are now able to beold? And Wo providentially saw to it tat te 12 t annual of Tacitus s istory of Rome was preserved? Wo led me to find it? Tom Ross 6339 County Rd. 15 Sout Point, O Pastor Mt. Pleasant Baptist Curc 6939 County Rd. 15 Cesapeake, O Tis is a very tougtful and searcing question tat could no doubt be te subject of a book. It is a question tat is definitely worty of our devout attention in ligt of I Jon 2:15-17 wic states: Love not te world, neiter te tings tat are in te world. If any man love te world, te love of te Fater is not in im. For all tat is in te world, te lust of te fles, and te lust of te eyes, and te pride of life, is not of te Fater, but is of te world. And te world passet away, and te lust tereof: but e tat doet te will of God abidet for ever. We may glean from tese verses tat worldliness is marked by sinful lusts, flesly pride, and an antagonism for te revealed will of God. A worldly Cristian is someone wo in some measure is in agreement wit a pilosopy, an attitude, a system of belief tat is contrary to God, is Word, and is will. A worldly Cristian is one wo as in some degree allowed is or er affection and desire for God to be misplaced by ungodly tougts, attitudes, or people. James warns: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not tat te friendsip of te world is enmity wit God? wosoever terefore will be a friend of te world is te enemy of God (4:4). To ave affinity for a system of belief tat despises God, is Trut, and is people is te worst sort of betrayal likened to te orrific sin of adultery! Worldliness creeps into te lives of Cristians inwardly by catering to flesly lusts in our tougts, attitudes, and affections. Worldliness starts in te eart and te mind before it is ever manifested outwardly. Tis is wy God s cildren must daily pray wit te Psalmist: Let te words of my mout, and te meditation of my eart, be acceptable in ty sigt, O LORD, my strengt, and my redeemer (Ps. 19:14). Te antidote for worldliness is a constant attitude and desire tat seeks to please te Fater by tinking, speaking, and doing wat is pleasing in is sigt! O tat God would fill our earts wit sincere love and devotion to te Lord Jesus Crist tat motivates us to strive for likeness to is image. Jesus said...i do always tose tings tat please im (te Fater) (Jon 8:29). Every day we sould prayerfully ask ourselves : Is wat I am about to do, tink, or say more in line wit God and is Word or te world of te ungodly tat ates im? Do I ave more sincere love for God tat prompts me to love wat e approves of or do I ave a love for my sinful lusts tat prompt me to wander from im? Wen a Cristian starts wandering from God in is eart and mind e will disregard God s Word in favor of te opinions and pilosopies of te world. e will find imself more attracted to sin and tose wo deligt in it rater tan communion wit te Living Crist and is people. Te scourge of worldliness in a believer will deplete im of spiritual strengt and leave im open to te attacks of sin and Satan wo is te god of tis world (II Cor. 4:4). Fait and love for Crist will enable te believer to overcome te world (I Jon 5:4-5). Terefore we must feed te new man wit te bounties gleaned from te Word of God. We must daily rely upon te work and strengt of our Great Saviour if we are to conquer worldliness! As we rely on Crist we are responsible to deny worldly lusts tat war against te soul (I Pet. 2:11). Let us pursue purity of tougt and oliness of eart so tat we may aspire to live te trut of James 1:27: Pure religion and undefined before God and te Fater is tis, To visit te Faterless and widows in teir affliction, and to keep imself unspotted from te world. TOM ROSS Mattew Stepp 286 Big Creek Road Wayne, WV Pastor Big Creek Baptist Curc 286 Big Creek Road Wayne, WV Worldly ere is te adjective, wile Cristian is te noun. (Num. 21:7, Ne. 1:6, Luke 22:32). #8- Resolve tis year to fast and pray regularly for godly requests and personal burdens. (Matt. 5:23-24). #9- Forgive oters quickly tis year and sow an attitude of reconciliation always. Terefore if tou bring ty gift to te altar, and tere rememberest tat ty broter at ougt against tee; Leave tere ty gift before te altar, and go ty way; first be reconciled to ty broter, and ten come and offer ty gift (Matt. 5:23-24). It certainly is not wrong to make good resolutions at any time---and te new year is a convenient time to start afres. 2. Anoter erroneous ting is for people to make resolutions urriedly. If you make a resolution, make it deliberately and wit te intention of keeping it. (See Psa. 76:11 on tis.) Wat foolisness to resolve to smoke no more cigarettes, wen you let a package of Camels stay rigt in your pocket. Te Lord does not like for people to say tat tey are going to do someting and ten not do it. (See Acts 5:1-11). 3. Anoter wrong ting is to resolve and to expect to carry it out in your own strengt. e is able to deliver tee. People fail because tey look to te energy of te fles and te fles is weak. 4. Anoter wrong ting is to ave less sense in your spiritual life tan te ordinary business man as in business. (See Luke 16:8). Tousands of business concerns take inventory. If tey see tat tey are losing out by pursuing teir present policy tey will make some canges. Yet --- many people wo know tat teir present abits and manners of life are ruinous, will keep rigt on. Te trut about resolutions: 1. It is all rigt to make tem at new year or any oter time, if tey are made in all sincerity. 2. Te best resolution for te unsaved is tis: I will NOW turn unto te Lord, and will receive is Son as my own Savior, and I will serve and live for im tis new year. 3. Wat are some good resolutions for Cristians? Suggestions: (1) Wat about family worsip? It would be a good ting to introduce te practice of Bible reading and prayer in te ome. (2) Wat about your curc attendance? ow many Sundays ave you missed te worsip of your curc? (See ebrews 10:25). ow many Sundays ave you missed wen te Lord knew tat you did not ave to miss? Suppose everybody else ad stayed away at te same time? (3) Wat about te prayer service? Wy sould we ave suc fluctuation in attendance? It would be a great ting to set yourself to attend every Wednesday evening, unless providentially indered. (And your will miss migty few.) (4) Wat about te number won to Crist? Wat? Ain t won nobody, did you say? Can you not beat tat tis coming year? (5) Wat about your giving? ave you robbed te Lord tis past year? Most of you ave spent everyting, and you migt far better ave invested tat tent in te Lord s cause. If you ad done so, it would not all be lost. It will mean a lot to you to resolve to tite---and to keep te resolve. (6) Wat about your personal abits? If tey are armful, it would be a fine ting to quit tem. (7) Wat about your fellowsip wit God---your spirituality? Are you as cold as an iron wedge spiritually? It is a good time to renew vows and draw nig unto God. Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 11) Acts, would so conspire wit all te oter Gospel writers to contrive tat all tese pieces and pictures would so fit? Or did tey togeter conspire wit Moses, wo wrote te Book of Genesis, but was now long wit te Lord for 1,500 years wen te New Testament was written? In fact, I do not know tat anyone else before as ever even realized tat tese families are ere so represented tese four times, so exactly, so precisely and so meaningfully ere in te Word of God! I believe tat all tese scriptural writers were inspired; but did tey even know wat tey were writing ere? Did tey understand at te time just ow well tis internal evidence bears testimony tat tis is te and of God, te mark of God, te signature of God upon is Word! Note well, tese tree families so represented, tese four times, and te consistency of te teacing tat is ereby expressed. Tese are jewels, to be dug out of God s Word! Mankind splits into tree different families and te istory of eac family proves in itself tat man is born altogeter in sin, and in need of a Savior. Almost 2,500 years after te fact, God brings representatives of eac family togeter at te cross and lets tem demonstrate tat not a one of tem would ave te Son of God to rule over tem; and teir universal expression is away wit im as it were. Tey eac participate in murdering te Savior. Yet God, in is grace, brings representatives of eac one of tese families to salvation troug repentance and fait in Acts 8, 9, & 10. And even toug Romans 11:5 is specifically said of te Jewis nation, it could as well ave been said of eac of te families of te tree sons of Noa in tose tree capters. Even so ten at tis present time also tere is a remnant according to te election of grace (Rom. 11:5) Note well, tat in every case, it is a very small remnant. Relatively speaking tere are few tat be saved trougout istory. Yet, over time, it will be a number tat no man can number (Revelation 7:9). And ten, as per te picture, tese tree men at te end of te book of Acts (at te end of tis age, as it were, because tat is wat te book of Acts foresadows te wole of te age of te Gentiles); tat men from all tree of tese families of man (tus te fullness of mankind in general) rejects te Gospel message and dies lost and undone to suffer eternal damnation. We ave te istory of all tree of tese men, and not a one of tem ever came to know Jesus Crist and te free pardon of sin. Festus, wo considered imself too smart for te Gospel and of too sound a mind to ever see te need of a Savior. Te Bible records in Acts 26:24, And as e (Paul) tus spake..., Festus said wit a loud voice, Paul, tou art beside tyself; muc learning dot make tee mad. And istory records tat e ended up going ome to Rome were e died lunatic insane. King Agrippa, in capter 26 was just too religious to ever see is need of salvation. e, as all te erod s before im, was always seeking to meddle in Jewis religious affairs; always trying to woo tem, desirous of popularity wit tem in order to advance is political career. But tis erod Agrippa was even more unsuccessful at tis tan is ancestors, and in te end ad to side wit Rome in te final deportation of te Jewis nation in 70 AD, utterly alienated from God s people. In Acts 26:28 after listening to Paul s defense, we ave is famous quote, Ten Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost tou persuadest me to be a Cristian. (Continued on page 16)

Page 16 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Tree Sons of Noa (Continued from page 15) From wic we ave tat famous ymn Almost Persuaded tat adeptly expresses is end: Almost cannot avail; Almost is but to fail! Sad, sad tat bitter wail Almost but lost! istory again records tat e spent is remaining years at Rome pandering for te favor of Nero. Second fiddle to a mad man. And ten finally, wat needs to be said of Felix? Te man wo lived only to please is fles. e made suc a mess of tings in Palestine wit is bloodtirsty cruelty and is passion for sex and alcool, tat e was called ome to Rome in disgrace and probably only ad is life spared by te wealt and influence of is broter Pallas. But wen e was yet procurator of Palestine wen e eard te appeal of te Apostle Paul...well, we will let te Word of God speak for Itself ere. And after certain days, wen Felix came wit is wife Drusilla, wic was a Jewess, e sent for Paul, and eard im concerning te fait in Crist. And as e reasoned of rigteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go ty way for tis time; wen I ave a convenient season, I will call for tee. e oped also tat money sould ave been given im of Paul, tat e migt loose im: werefore e sent for im te oftener, and communed wit im. But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix room: and Felix, willing to sew te Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound (Acts 24:24-27). ere is a man wo just refused to turn from is sin. And te Bible tells us tat anyone wo proceeds on tat pat is doomed to an eternal ell. Felix obviously represents te fles, does e not? Man given over to is flesly lusts. Festus represents te intellect. e is just naturally too smart for tese tings, as many today vainly pride temselves into believing. And again, as Paul preaced Crist and im crucified for te sinners sin; and man s need of repentance and fait towards God, Festus said wit a loud voice, Paul, tou art beside tyself; muc learning dot make tee mad (Acts 26:24). To wic Paul responded, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak fort te words of trut and soberness. For te king knowet of tese tings, before wom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded tat none of tese tings are idden from im; for tis ting was not done in a corner. And we migt say tat even today, tese tings are openly known. And wat does erod Agrippa II represent, but te spiritual part of man? Man is body, soul, and spirit. And even wen a man is dead spiritually; eating, drinking, and walking around pysically: e yet as a spiritual nature. Only, it will not seek after God. It is dead to God. If te lost get religious, it will always be a false religion tat will not be according to te Bible. To be of God s Spirit ye must be born again. To te law and to te testimony: if tey speak not according to tis word, it is because tere is no ligt in tem (Isaia 8:20). But if a man walk in te nigt, e stumblet, because tere is no ligt in im ( Jon 11:10). e needs to be born again. Made alive towards God spiritually. Te family of erod was always and anon fascinated wit te Jewis religion, and tey always ad te Scriptures. If tey would only read and believe wat God ad given tem - any one of tem could ave been saved at any time. Searc te scriptures; for in tem ye tink ye ave eternal life: and tey are tey wic testify of me (Jon 5:39). But tese were men wo just wanted to be Jews outwardly To be seen of men. And wat does te Apostle Paul, tat great teologian tat e is, wat does e do, wat does e give tem? e gives tem te strongest ting tat e as: e gives tem is own testimony of salvation. You can read it tere, as e recounts is own salvation on te road to Damascus in capter 26. It is te story of a risen Crist Wo will make imself known to any wo will turn to im in spirit and in trut, seeking te mercy wic only e gives. But wat a Book, wat a Bible! In te istories of men you cannot find agreement. Just in te istory of America, from just 200 years ago till today, in te writings of men tere is little agreement on anyting. But ere we ave 66 Books, written over 1,000 s of years and tere is suc armony and perfect agreement in all. For tousands of years nations rose and fell in a time wen we ave no man made record of anyting. Te earliest secular narrative tat we ave comes from about te time of omer s Iliad and te Odyssey. And te copies we ave of tese are at best only a few undred years BC, copied from a source about 700 BC or so. And nobody questions tat! And it is just a silly rambling fairy tale at best. But we ave a sober, sincere record of te entire istory of man tat as never been disproved in te least. Te Table of te Nations in Genesis capter 10 tells us were all te families of man came from and went. Tis is te only source Book on man tat is onest wit man about man, and te only one tat gives te solution. Te only fait in all te world tat offers a Redeemer. Te only one tat speaks of salvation. None of te religions of man even see te need! None of tem answers te question of sin. None of tem tells were it came from and wat it did wen mankind fell in te Garden of Eden. But God s Word consistently sows tat it affected te wole family of man and every division tereof. And God alone points to te answer of Crist crucified, te free pardon of sin. And ten finally, in Revelation 22:4 God as brougt all te saved of all tree families before im to see is face; and is name sall be in teir foreeads. Signifying tat in im we are no longer of te families of men but of te family of God. e and e alone can make of tree: one. Is not tat great? I do not know about you, but seeing all tat just gives me all tat muc more confidence in te Word of God. It trills my soul! And (God) at made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all te face of te eart, and at determined te times before appointed, and te bounds (or borders) of teir abitation; Tat tey sould seek te Lord, if aply tey migt feel after im, and find im, toug e be not far from every one of us (Acts 17:26-27).

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 17 Te Canging Years (Continued from page 1) wo, a generation ago, was able to forecast te principal conditions now prevailing in te world. Even te few wo ad sufficient discernment to see te coming events, wic were casting teir dark sadows before tem, were unable to foresee more tan te general outline of wat is now before tem in detail. Weter we view te situation in te military, te political, te social, or te religious spere tings ave deteriorated and degenerated more tan even te pessimistic conceived likely. Nor can te most experienced and sagacious, prognosticate wit any degree of certainty, ow muc furter te downward trend will go, ow muc lower moral and spiritual values will sink, nor ow muc tat wic is still prized by te godly, will be sucked into te maelstrom of destruction. Yes, te canging years are bringing wit tem great canges in living conditions canges wic are solemn to contemplate, and fearful to experience. But if tere was noting more to be said, we would not ave penned te above. Yet, wat as been pointed out needs to be considered, if we are to really appreciate wat follows. Tat wic most impresses te writer by te canging years is tat we ave an uncanging God. Ty years, said te Psalmist, sall ave no end (Ps. 102:27). e is unaffected by te fligt of time, uninfluenced by all te mutations of tings and creatures ere below. Semper Idem ( always te same ) is inscribed upon is brow. From everlasting to everlasting, tou art God (Ps. 90:2). Tis perfection of te Divine caracter does not occupy te place in our earts and tougts wic it sould. It is one of te coicest jewels in te diadem of God s attributes. Te immutability of God is te guarantor of is fidelity: Te eternal of Israel will not lie nor repent; for e is not a man, tat e sould repent (I Sam. 15:29). Likewise, te immutability of God guarantees te security of is people: For I am te LORD I cange not; terefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed (Mal. 3:6). God s immutability is one of is incommunicable perfections. e imparts life to te lower creatures, wisdom to man, oliness to te angels but immutability unto none. To speak of an immutable creature would be a contradiction in terms: if immutable, it would not be a creature, instead of being dependent, e would be independent, and terefore a God; instead of a subject, e would be Sovereign. God did not bestow immutability upon Adam at te beginning, wen e pronounced im very good (Gen. 1:31), for e ad been incapable of falling, ad tat been imparted. Te arcangel possesses it not; nor will te saints in eaven. Immutability is entirely peculiar to God imself. Tere is no growt or development in im. e is ever te same: te self-existent, allsufficient, eternal, uncanging God. I am tat I am (Ex. 3:14), is is glorious name, and tat wic expresses is nature. Wat a truly marvelous and aweinspiring Being! Noting can be taken from, noting added to im. Wit im, tere is no variableness, neiter sadow of turning (James 1:17). But e is in one mind, and wo can turn im? (Job 23:13). None can sway im or induce im to alter is eternal purpose. A clear and most solemn demonstration of tat was made in Getsemane, wen te incarnate Son on is face, in an agony, cried, O my Fater, if it be possible, let tis cup pass from me: neverteless not as I will, but as tou wilt (Matt. 26:39). God would not cange is mind: te terms of te everlasting covenant must stand! It is tis perfection of God s, wic supplies te most conclusive proof of te error of Universalism, wic predicates tat after certain ages te wicked will be released from ell. Not so, and wy? Because tose wom te Lord abors, e abors forever! Tat I am te LORD: I cange not (Mal. 3:6) as a two-fold bearing: a blessed and a solemn one. Unto te saved, it is unspeakably blessed, aving loved is own wic were in te world, e loved tem unto te end (Jon 13:1); but tose wom e ates, e will ate for all eternity. Before te wicked could be released from ell, te very nature and caracter of God must cange be reversed. Tou art te same (Ps. 102:27). Not tou ast been nor tou wilt be, but Tou art te same. Te same in nature and caracter, te same in will and purpose; witout fluctuation witin or alteration witout. Toug is works of creation decay, toug te operations of is providence vary, and toug even te activities of is grace differ from time to time, yet te Lord God imself is ever te same. ow blessed tat e is so! Wat strengt, calmness, and comfort does tis bring to te eart wic as a believing appreension of te same. Wat a sure foundation does tis provide for fait to rest upon! Tat e wo never failed te patriarcs, te propets, te apostles, our own faters wo trusted in im is just te same now unto tose wo turn to im in te present upeaval. Wen eaven and eart sall flee away from te dreadful presence of te great Judge, e will be unaltered by te terrible confusion, and te world in conflagration will effect no cange in im (C.. Spurgeon). Te Cristian may lose is dearest eartly friends, but not is eavenly Friend. Te years of tose cloted wit mortality are but few at most but tose of im wo only at immortality (I Tim. 6:16) are witout beginning and witout end. Because te oly Scriptures are inspired by God, tey, too, are immutable. For ever, O LORD, ty word is settled in eaven (Ps. 119:89). Tat was Luter s seet-ancor amid te fierce gales tat for so long burst upon im. Resting on tat impregnable Rock is eart was kept in perfect peace, and tereby e was enabled to wax strong and very courageous. We, too, are living in stormy times, but tank God te same sure Ancor is available for us. Wile everyting is crumbling around us, te monuments of te centuries being reduced to rubble, te trones of kings being overturned, te plans and policies of men cast into te melting pot, te Divine Oracles are unaffected, unimpaired, uncanged, for te Word of God, like its Autor, livet and abidet for ever (I Peter 1:23). is own infallible promise is eaven and eart sall pass away, but my words sall not pass away (Mattew 24:35). Because te Redeemer is God te Son, e also is immutable: Jesus Crist te same yesterday, and to day, and for (Continued on page 18)

Page 18 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 Te Canging Years (Continued from page 17) ever (eb. 13:8). e is te same merciful Savior as pardoned te dying tief. e is te same long-suffering Master as bore so patiently wit te dullness of is disciples. e is te same sufficient One as multiplied te loaves and fises and tereby provided for a great multitude. e is te same Pysician as ealed te leper and gave sigt to te blind. e is te same faitful Intercessor as prayed for poor Peter. e is te same compassionate One as wept by te grave side of Lazarus. Wen is forerunner was murdered, we are told tat is disciples went and told Jesus (Matt. 14:12). Wy? Was it not because tey would pour out teir grief unto One wom tey knew ad a sympatetic ear, wo could be touced wit te feeling of teir infirmities, and wo would comfort and strengten tem? If ten your eart be torn wit anxiety or bowed down wit sorrow, go and do likewise. Let our New Year s resolution be to make more use of Crist in tis year tan we ever ave before. Tis blessed trut of te Divine immutability is many-sided in its application. Because God canges not, is promises are unfailing and may be relied upon at all times: Ty testimonies are very sure (Ps. 93:5). For te same reason, we know tat is treatenings must be fulfilled. God is not a man, tat e sould lie; neiter te son of man, tat e sould repent: at e said, and sall e not do it? or at e spoken, and sall e not make it good (Num 23:19)? Because e canges not te mediatorial trone is forever one of grace. It was tere tat e received us wen first we came to im as empty-anded beggars; it is tere e still welcomes us wen we swallow our pride and umbly but boldly, seek fres supplies to elp in time of need (eb. 4:16). Even in te eternal state, it will be te trone of God and of te Lamb (Rev. 22:1). Ten make use of tis Divine attribute: plead it in your prayers. Amid all te fluctuations and vexations of te new year, remember tat God canges not. Remind yourself of tat blessed fact eac day. A New Year s (Continued from page 1) Do better, now, my cild. I came to God s trone wit a quivering soul, Te year was done. ast tou a new seet, dear Fater, I said, I ve spoiled tis one. In place of te seet so soiled and blotted e gave me a new one all unspotted And into my tired eart smiled, Do better, now, my cild. I am certain tat every person witin tis service would rater tat is life, and our curc be a more conspicuous example for our Lord in 1963 tan it as been in 1962, and in all te days tat ave gone by. It is wit tis tougt in mind tat I bring to you my message tonigt. I ave some few Scriptures tat I want to read to you, and I tink eac of tem migt be taken as a good key verse for us in Eac of tem migt be considered as a slogan or a Cristian motto. Eac of tem migt furnis us wit a goal for I. I beseec you terefore, bretren, by te mercies of God, tat ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, oly, acceptable unto God, wic is your reasonable service (Rom. 12:1). Te little word terefore is a sort of inge connecting te first eleven capters of Romans to te last five capters. In fact, if you will notice closely, all tat as gone before in tese first eleven capters as to do wit great doctrinal truts, wereas, all tat follows, beginning wit te twelft capter, as to do wit practical Cristian living. Te little word terefore seemingly connects te first eleven capters to te last five capters. In tese first eleven capters te Apostle Paul as discussed at lengt four great outstanding doctrines: depravity, justification by fait, te security of te saved, and te one doctrine tat underlies all te rest---te doctrine of te sovereignty of God, and is election. Oter doctrines ave been discussed briefly, but in tese eleven capters e as specifically discussed tese four great truts. Ten growing out of tese great doctrines wic e as discussed in tese eleven capters, e says, I beseec you terefore, bretren, tat ye present your bodies a living sacrifice. In te last five capters e talks about ow cildren of God ougt to live. In tis twelft capter e says tat we are to present our bodies a living sacrifice. In te tirteent capter e says tat we are to make no provision for te fles, to fulfill te lusts tereof. In te fourteent capter e says tat every knee sall bow in God s presence. In te fifteent capter e talks about our missionary responsibility, for e says, So tat from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I ave fully preaced te gospel of Crist. Ten in te sixteent capter you ave tat great overflow of love were e greets individuals one after anoter wit Cristian felicitation. You can see, beloved, tat in te first eleven capters you ave a great doctrinal presentation as to wat Paul would ave us as God s cildren to believe, and in te last five capters e gives to us a great practical application as to ow e would ave us as God s cildren to live. All troug my ministry I ave said tat tere is a tremendous relationsip between wat a man believes, and wat a man does. Tere is a tremendous relationsip between a man s creed and a man s deed. Wat e believes will determine wat e does. Wat is creed may be, will determine wat is deeds will be. Tus te Apostle Paul says in Romans 12:1: I beseec you terefore, bretren, by te mercies of God, tat ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, oly, acceptable unto God, wic is your reasonable service. I am sure tat tere is no curc any place tat is any better grounded in te fait tan Calvary Baptist Curc. I am likewise well pleased wit te way in wic you ave put into expression in te practical way your fait in God. I am not complaining at all about wat you believe or wat you do, but I will just say tis, I wis we would all believe more deeply, and I wis we would be more faitful. I wis so far as you and I are concerned tat our creed migt be stronger, and our deeds migt be better. As we come to te end of a year, and as we face a new year, it will be my prayer tat God would take tis great Scripture and burn it into our earts and enable us to strive for a greater application of our creed expressing itself in te (Continued on page 19)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 19 A New Year s (Continued from page 18) deeds of our lives. II. Wat? know ye not tat your body is te temple of te oly Gost wic is in you, wic ye ave of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bougt wit a price: terefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, wic are God s (I Cor. 6:19-20). Paul says, Ye are not your own, for ye are bougt wit a price. If I could make it personal, I would like to take eac of you by te and, look you in te eye, and ask you tis question, do you realize tat you are bougt wit a price? Do you realize tat te price tat was paid for your redemption was te blood of te Lord Jesus Crist, and tat te Son of God gave is life on te cross of Calvary to pay for your sins? I ask, ave you been bougt? If tat be true, ten te application is to glorify God in your body. I tell you, beloved, God does not want people wo profess to be saved to be spiritual drones. Do you know wat a drone is? e is te bee tat does not work. e is te bee in te ive tat does not do anyting. God does not want any spiritual drones. If you are bougt wit a price, terefore glorify God in your body. I do not believe tat tere is one wo would say tat e as done all tat e could ave done in ave you ever tried to glorify God in your body every day? I fear tat if we would be onest before God, every one of us would admit we stand before God as absolute failures. Would to God as to face a new year tat we migt ave te resolution in our earts, and tat we migt pray for te grace to carry it out in our lives, wereby we migt glorify God in our body trougout te entirety of te new year. III. But God forbid tat I sould glory, save in te cross of our Lord Jesus Crist, by wom te world is crucified unto me, and I unto te world (Gal. 6:14). So far as we are concerned, tere is one way above all oters wereby we are to glory. Tat one way wereby we are to glory is in te cross of te Lord Jesus Crist. I tell you, beloved, if you depend upon organization, you get wat organization can do. If you depend upon te fles, you get wat te fles can do. If you depend upon your own energy, you get wat your energy can do. Beloved, wen we depend upon te cross of Jesus Crist and seek to glory only in im, we get wat God can do. God forbid tat I sould glory in anyting in 1963 except te cross of Jesus Crist. Some folk glory in teir living--- te fact tey are doing better tan tey used to. Wen tey speak, it is always to magnify temselves. Many of our songs are of tis type, in tat tey glorify man, suc as, I ll Fly Away. Suc individuals boast of teir goodness---ow long it is since tey sinned. Wat tey need is to glory in te cross of Crist. Oters glory in teir priest and te confessional. Oters glory in te mourner s benc wile many oters glory in te baptistery. May God elp us to put all glory were it belongs---in te cross of te Lord Jesus Crist. I can tink of a number of tings tat I want to do in te coming year. I can tink of a number of goals tat I ave already set wic I ope I will be able, in a measure, to reac. I can tink of a number of tings tat I desire to try to put my soulder to te weel in te accomplisment tereof. Beloved, if I accomplis any of tese, if I do anyting in 1963 tat will please my God, it will be because I fall back upon tis text: God, forbid tat I sould glory, save in te cross of our Lord Jesus Crist. IV. I terefore, te prisoner of te Lord, beseec you tat ye walk worty of te vocation werewit ye are called (Ep. 4:1). Te vocation Paul refers to is te calling God as given us in our Saviour. Are you a saved man or a saved woman? Well, if you are, you ave been called of te Lord. Back yonder before you were saved, before you became a cild of God, God called you. To be sure, tat was even preceded by is election, but in time God called you, and if you are saved tonigt, you are saved primarily because of te effectual call of te Lord. Now te Apostle Paul says, I beseec you tat you are worty of te vocation, werewit ye are called. You say, I am not worty of salvation. I know you are not. Tere is not one of us wo is worty of salvation. But, beloved, e saved us, and we ougt to seek to walk in a manner worty of te vocation werewit we are called. In our walk, many of us are absolute failures. ow poorly we represent im! Wat a sabby Cristian walk te world sees on our part! Our talk, our walk, and even our balk ougt to be for greater tan it is---it ougt to be worty of our eavenly calling. I grant you I do not deserve to be saved. I am ready to grant tat not one of us deserves te salvation we ave to enjoy tonigt. But I am ready to grant you, or demand of you, tat you and I walk worty of tat vocation werewit we are called. God wants you, my broter, to live like a saved man ougt to live. God wants you, my sister, to live like a saved person ougt to live. As we face tis new year, it is certainly my prayer before God tat e will enable us to live and to walk worty of te vocation werewit we are called. Is it not marvelous to be a Cristian? I tink of tat old song te cildren used to sing, Isn t it grand to be a Cristian? Isn t it grand? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Tursday, Friday, Saturday and all day Sunday? Isn t it grand to be a Cristian? Isn t it grand? My broter, it is good to be a Cristian every day. If you are saved tonigt, God wants you every day and all day on Sunday to walk worty of te calling, or vocation, werewit you are called. V. And e gave some APOSTLES; and some, PROPETS; and some, EVANGELISTS; and some, PASTORS and TEACERS; For te perfecting of te saints, for te work of te ministry, for te edifying of te body of Crist: Till we all come in te unity of te fait, and of te knowledge of te Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto te measure of te stature of te fulness of Crist: Tat we encefort be no more cildren, tossed to and fro, and carried about wit every wind of doctrine, by te sleigt of men, and cunning craftiness, wereby tey lie in wait to deceive; But speaking te trut in love, may grow up into im in all tings, wic is te ead, even Crist (Ep. 4:11-15) (emp. JRG). Paul says tere are five orders in te ministry. e says tere are apostles, and propets, and evangelists, and pastors, and teacers: and all five ave te (Continued on page 20)

Page 20 Te Berea Baptist Banner January 5, 2017 A New Year s (Continued from page 19) same work. God never gave an evangelist for one purpose and a pastor for anoter. All te orders of te ministry are for one purpose, and wat is tat purpose? Some four or five tings: first, for te perfecting of te saints; second, tat we all migt come to te unity of te fait; tird, tat we migt mature into te measure of te perfect stature of Crist; fourt, tat we be not cildren encefort tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine; fift, tat we may grow up into im in all tings. Beloved, tat is God s program for you in God wants you to be perfect---and mature---more perfect and mature tan wat you are now. God wants you, if you are a saved person, to ave unity one wit anoter. God wants you to grow up unto te measure of te fullness of Crist. God does not want you to be a cild tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. God does not want you to remain a babe. Rater, e wants you to grow up unto im in all tings. I ask you, are you as muc of a man or woman as you would like to be, or ave you grown as muc as you would like to ave grown? Is tere as muc unity between you and oters wo love te Lord as you would like? Are you still a cild in tat you believe everyting tat you are told? Are you growing like a Cristian ougt to grow? Beloved, I say to you, te majority of professing Cristians in tis world are just like a bunc of babes. You know ow cildren will accept anyting tat tey are told. You can tell a cild anyting in tis world and e will accept it; e will believe it rigt now. Tere is an awfull lot of babyood in Baptist curces. People just do not grow. Paul says in tis Scripture tat e wants us to grow up so we will not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. I know people, regardless of wat tey ear, wo just jump at it; tey take for granted it must be so. I know individuals wo ave been professing Cristians for many, many years, tat regardless of wat comes along tat is new, tat tey ave not eard before, tey just grab it and swallow it immediately. Paul does not want us to be like tat. Paul wants us to grow. e wants us to become mature Cristians. I am not satisfied wit my growt. I am not satisfied wit remaining as I am. I want 1963 to be a year of greater spiritual solidity or greater solidarity. I want 1963 to be a year wen we will stand more for te trut of God s Word tan ever before. VI. Tat I may know im, and te power of is resurrection, and te fellowsip of is sufferings, being made conformable unto is deat; If by any means I migt attain unto te resurrection of te dead. Not as toug I ad already attained, eiter were already perfect: but I follow after, if tat I may appreend tat for wic also I am appreended of Crist Jesus. Bretren, I count not myself to ave appreended: but tis one ting I do, forgetting tose tings wic are beind, and reacing fort unto tose tings wic are before, I press toward te mark for te prize of te ig calling of God in Crist Jesus (Pil. 3:10-14). Somebody migt tink tat Paul was not even saved, for e said, It is my prayer tat I migt know im. Paul knew im as a Cristian. e knew im as a saved man. But e wanted to know im better. Paul said, I am not quite up to te mark, for in te fourteent verse e said, I press toward te mark. I ask you, ave you reaced te mark, te goal, tat you migt ave been aspiring toward? God elp you if you ave. O, may God pity you if you ave already reaced te mark, and if you ave gotten as far as you would like to go in is service! Beloved, Paul was not quite up to te mark. e ad been a saved man for nearly tirty years. For nearly tirty years e ad been a preacer of te Lord---ever since e ad met te Lord on te roadway to Damascus, but e was not quite up to te mark. Beloved, I will let you in on a little secret. I ave been preacing te Gospel for forty years---ever since te Lord saved me, and I, too, am not quite up to te mark. In fact, I tink I am a long piece away from te mark. Sometimes I wonder if I am making any progress at all. Paul says, I press toward te mark. Broter, sister, let me ask you, are you up to te mark? I am sure I can answer for you and for myself. We are not up to te mark. Paul says, If I am going to press toward te mark, tere is someting I must do---i must forget tese tings tat are beind. Wat is tere to forget in a Cristian s life? Everyting tat as appened down to tis our. I say it reverently, it would be a good idea if you could forget te good and te bad, forget te triumps and te failures, forget te successes and te defeats-- -just forget tose tings wic are past. Paul says, Tere is someting to forget. I am not to live on my past successes nor lament my past failures and defeats, but I am to press toward te mark, and to reac fort unto tose tings wic are before me. Beloved, if God gives me te grace, I want tis to be true of me in I would tat e would enable me tat I could forget te tings tat are past, and tat I could reac fort to te tings tat are before. I would tat I migt press on toward te mark as I face a new year in VII. Preac te word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exort wit all longsuffering and doctrine. For te time will come wen tey will not endure sound doctrine; but after teir own lusts sall tey eap to temselves teacers, aving itcing ears (II Tim. 4:2, 3). I ave a desire for tomorrow and te tomorrows to come and tat is tat I sall live in te ligt of tis text and preac te Word. Some monts ago a man said to is fater, You know, dad, Broter Gilpin as not moved an inc from is position wen we came to know im twenty-five years ago. If I move in 1963, beloved, it is tat I want to move closer to te Word. I do not want tat tere sall be any veering away from it. Paul says, Preac te word. Beloved, tere is noting else for me to offer you but te Book. Paul also says tat te time is going to come wen folk will not ear te Word, and I tink, generally speaking, tat time is ere now. I tink it gets more and more tat way every day, and sall be more and more in te days to come tat people will not ear te Word. If I ave a desire for my life in te days tat are out before me, it sall be tat I sall preac te Word. As preacers get older sometimes tey compromise. In (Continued on page 21)

January 5, 2017 Te Berea Baptist Banner Page 21 A New Year s (Continued from page 20) fact, wen men get old te majority of preacers compromise. I make tat statement after tinking tis past week seriously about it. Tere are a great number of men tat I know wo were good men, but as tey got older tey compromised. Tat is patetic, and it is increasingly tragic wen you remember tat te majority of younger preacers today are compromising te Word. Compromising as tey are today, I wonder wat tey will do, and wat tey will be like wen tey get old. Beloved, if it pleases God, I would rater God would reac down and take me now away from tis spere of activity tan tat e would allow me to get one day older, if to do so would mean tat I would compromise God s Book. If I ave a desire as I go on troug life, it is tis, in spite of te fact tat men do not care for sound doctrine, and toug te majority of professing Cristians will not endure sound doctrine, and toug te majority of curc members would rater ave somebody wo would merely scratc teir ears, and tickle teir fancy, and amuse tem a little wen tey come to te ouse of God---toug tat be true, my prayer is tat God will enable me to faitfully preac te Word to you in CONCLUSION I come back to my text and ear te Apostle Paul say: Bretren, my eart s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, tat tey migt be saved (Rom. 10:1). God as some Israel ---some elect people, and my prayer to God is tat every one of tem sall be saved. I know tey will be. At te same time, it is my prayer tat God will enable me to feel a responsibility of doing my utmost in te ligt of tese texts tat I ave read to you tonigt. Like Paul, I want to feel tis responsibility tat te Israel of God migt come to a saving knowledge of te Lord Jesus Crist. May God bless you as a saved man and a saved woman. May God elp you to leave tis place desiring tat your life sall be a better life, a different life, and a greater life for God in te year tat is out before us. May God bless you! Send tem to Te Berea Baptist Banner, PO Box 39, Mantacie, MS District of Columbia OKs assisted-suicide bill (WNS)--Wasington, D.C., City Council members advanced a measure to allow terminally ill residents to get lawful elp to kill temselves. Wile I still ave religious reservations as to te ending of a life, I ave an even greater reservation telling a terminally ill resident tat e or se must continue to figt wile knowing tat to te best of medical ability tere is no recovery, said Councilman Brandon Todd, wo voted Nov. 1 to legalize assisted suicide. Te 13-member Council voted 11-2 to legalize te Deat Wit Dignity Act in a public earing room packed wit advocates from bot sides. Te law allows terminally ill adults given six monts or fewer to live to obtain letal drugs from teir doctor tat tey can self-administer. Te measure must still pass a final vote and be signed by Mayor Muriel Bowser, wo as indicated er support for it. Five oter states California, Montana, Oregon, Wasington, and Vermont allow pysician-assisted suicide. Medication abortions soar after FDA eases regulation (WNS)--More women tan ever in te United States are coosing to end teir pregnancies at ome wit a two-step prescription abortion, according to a recent Reuters analysis. Marketed as more private and less invasive tan surgical abortion, te drug duo mifepristone (RU-486) and misoprostol work in tandem to sed a women s uterine lining and induce labor, killing te baby. Restrictions on te drugs ave kept teir use lower in te United States tan in Western European countries, were tey often account for te majority of abortions. But te self-administered abortion drugs now rival surgical abortions in tis country, partly due to loosening restrictions. At Planned Parentood alone, medication abortion comprised 43 percent of all abortions in 2014, up from 35 percent in Tose numbers soared tis year after te Food and Drug Administration eased regulation of te drugs in Marc to allow prescriptions up to te 10t week of pregnancy instead of te sevent. Eutanasia advocates celebrate victory in Colorado (WNS)--Coloradans voted to legalize pysician-assisted suicide on Nov. 8, a decision critics call a dangerous step for Colorado s medically and socially vulnerable citizens. Nearly 65 percent of voters said yes to te measure wit almost all votes counted te next morning. Te controversial initiative will allow terminally ill adults wit six monts or less to live te rigt to access a pysician-prescribed letal drug. Colorado joins Oregon, California, Montana, Vermont, and Wasington in legalizing assisted suicide. All six states modeled teir measures after Oregon s Deat wit Dignity Act, passed in Advocates, backed by Denver-based Compassion & Coices, te nation s largest pro-assisted suicide advocacy group, raised over $5 million, more tan double te money raised by opponents. Oregon official wo targeted Cristian bakers loses election (WNS)--Te Oregon labor commissioner wo went after bakery owners Aaron and Melissa Klein for teir refusal to bake a wedding cake for a lesbian couple lost is race for Oregon secretary of state to a Republican. Wasington ig court ears florist s religious liberty plea (WNS)--Flower sop owner Baronelle Stutzman campioned religious freedom at te Wasington Supreme Court Nov. 15 in a lawsuit carging se discriminated against a gay customer. Ingersoll v. Arlene s Flowers represents one of a andful of cases making teir way to te U.S. Supreme Court, wic will determine weter business owners can operate according to te constitutional guarantees of free speec, free exercise of religion, and freedom of expression. In a 2015 ruling against Stutzman, a lower court judge determined a private business owner s free speec and free exercise rigts must be subordinate to Wasington s nondiscrimination law. Kristen Waggoner, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom and Stutzman s attorney, called te decision unconstitutional and ludicrous. INTERNATIONAL BRIEFS Canadian court: Law society must accept Cristian attorneys (WNS)--Te Law Society of Britis Columbia must recognize Trinity Western University s (TWU) future law scool graduates, according to a unanimous opinion te Britis Columbia (B.C.) Court of Appeals issued Nov. 1. Te TWU community as a rigt to old and act on its beliefs, absent evidence of actual arm, a five-judge panel wrote. To do so is an expression of its rigt to freedom of religion. Te decision is te latest capter in TWU s years-long battle to open Canada s first Cristian law scool. In December 2013 te provincial law society approved te university s plans, but a 2014 members referendum revoked it over concerns tat te TWU community covenant wic olds students to ortodox Cristian beavioral standards, including eterosexual marriage is discriminatory. Te B.C. appeals court ruled it was te law society tat discriminated. Tousands protest same-sex marriage bills in Taiwan (WNS)--Tousands of demonstrators filled te streets in front of te Legislative Yuan on Nov. 17 to protest a set of bills tat would make Taiwan te first Asian government to recognize samesex marriage. By te end of te evening, te protesters ad gained a victory: Te legislature decided to allow two public earings before voting on te law. Wearing wite sirts and carrying signs tat read, Let te people decide on marriage and family, and, Stand up for te appiness of te next generation, te protesters including families wit young cildren sowed up at 7 a.m. to express teir dismay tat legislators were pusing te law troug witout a public earing or allowing te people a cance to participate. Te protest remained mostly peaceful, wit demonstrators singing, giving impassioned speeces, and praying. Yet at 3 p.m., as legislators still refused to old a public earing on te issue, protesters stormed te gate surrounding te Legislative Yuan. About 60 people were able to get in and old a sit-in outside te assembly all before police blocked off te gate. Cristian ospitals opt out of Canada s eutanasia law (WNS)--Two Cristian ospitals in Winnipeg, Manitoba, ave opted out of te assisted suicide law passed by Canada s liberal government in June. Concordia ospital, a Mennonite institution, and St. Boniface ospital, a Catolic facility, announced tey will not kill patients but agreed to refer tose seeking assisted suicide to oter groups tat will. On Nov. 16, Concordia ospital ran a response to Canada s Medical Assistance in Dying law, known as MAID, in a local newspaper. After consulting its doctors and staff in June, it adopted a policy against MAID. We are committed to providing respect and dignity in care to every person trougout is or er life from conception to natural deat, te ad said. Concordia believes tat providing ealtcare is a ministry assigned to us by Crist and is expressive of our Anabaptist fait, values, and etics. Ontario turns parenting into a group affair (WNS)--Cildren in Ontario, Canada, may now ave up to four legal parents, none of wic must be birt parents, under a bill passed by te legislature on Nov. 29. Te bill also canges existing code in te Cildren s Law Reform Act and te Vital Statistics Act to use gender-neutral terminology, were possible, according to te attorney general s office. Neverteless, for David s Sake By Nataniel ille of Plant CIty, Florida Neverteless for David s sake did te LORD is God give im a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up is son after im, and to establis Jerusalem: Because David did tat wic was rigt in te eyes of te LORD and turned not aside from any ting tat e commanded im all te days of is life... (I Kings 15:4-5). O, soul, wat tings as te Lord done for you because of te sake of someone else? ere is Abijam, David s great grandson, yet te Lord was still doing tings for David s sake. Contemplate wat tings God as done for you tat ave been merited by oters. Was not Ismael blessed because of Abraam? And also of te son of te bondwoman will I make a nation, because e is ty seed (Gen. 21:13). Meditate for a moment, o soul, tose inestimable blessings God as sowered you wit for te sake of anoter. I cannot but tink of ow muc I owe for te faitfulness of tose before me, my grandfater, and my eartly fater, wo were not sinless (nor ever claimed to be), but did tat wic was rigt in te eyes of te Lord. Wat as te Lord done for me because of teir sake? I am impressed to ask tis question to my own soul. Wat will God do to my posterity for my sake? Will it be good or will it be evil brougt upon tem for my sake? A, curc of te Lord wat blessings as te Lord graciously bestowed upon you because of te faitfulness of one member, or one family, or te pastor, or Sunday scool teacer, or a deacon? Wat of te ouse of Stepanas wo (Continued on page 23)

Wat for teir sake is te Lord doing unto your curc because of tem? And wat of Antipas wo was te Lord s faitful martyr? Do you not suppose tat tere are tose faitful to te Lord in your local curc wom te Lord does for teir sakes? Take a minute and examine tat man for wom te Lord did bless for David s sake: Abijam. We are told tat Abijam walked in te sins of is fater; tat is eart was not perfect wit te Lord (I Kings 15:3). Beold, o sinner, is tis not a description of tee and of me? Are we not found walking in tose sins of our carnal nature of wic we ave received of our faters? Is not our eart desperately wicked (Jer. 17:9)? Neverteless! Notice tat word, Neverteless. Tis a glorious word meaning witout preventing it. A, beloved, Abijam s evil ways did not prevent te Lord from blessing im because it was done for anoter s sake. Abijam ad not earned any of tis. Yet, it was done. Neverteless for David s sake did te LORD is God give im... (I Kings 15:4). Does te Lord not bless us as well? Wy? Not because God winks at some sins, but rater for anoter s sake. Tat word sake means on account of. Beloved, it was done on account of Crist Jesus! O soul, wat marvelous tings te Lord as done for you for Crist s sake. And be ye kind one to anoter, tenderearted, forgiving one anoter, even as God for Crist s sake at forgiven you (Ep. 4:32). Now, wy was tis done for David s sake? Because David did tat wic was rigt in te eyes of te LORD, and turned not aside from any ting tat e commanded im all te days of is life... (I Kings 15:5). Can you, soul, say tat tis is true of you? No, I cannot. All of self tat I can boast of is filty rags (Isa. 64:6). But tere is anoter wo as done rigt in te eyes of te LORD, and turned not aside from anyting tat e commanded im all te days of is life. And it is for is sake tat te Lord as given unto me o so many tings, cief of wic is te forgiveness of my sins and my sinful nature. Take tougt, dear soul, of all tat you are and yet, neverteless, for Crist s sake, wo did tat wic was rigt in te eyes of te Lord, and turned not aside from any ting tat e commanded im all te days of is life. as te Lord God given unto you life eternal, forgiveness of sins, redemption, deliverance, justification, salvation, revival, and restoration?
