1 SouthView February The President s Comments Another page on the 2016 calendar has turned over and it is now February. The snows of early January lasted quite a while in the shadows and on the north side of everything due to the cold temperatures, but fortunately the streets were drivable. I did note that the ice and snow forced drivers to keep their speeds well below the 25 mph limit on our residential streets though. On another topic, since it is dark until past 7am, you might want to check the light on your mailbox. I took a pre-sunrise walk one morning with the dog since I had an 8am meeting that day and noticed that many lights were not working. In my case I know that I am not aware that mine has burned out unless I happen to come home after dark. Anyway, these lights are to help emergency services folks like ambulance, fire and police find your residence at night (even though I would like to think that they help folks get around the neighborhood in spite of Prescott s dark skies policy). So, to help our emergency responders, please check your light to see that it is working. The only mailboxes that are not required to have a light per the Southview governing documents are those or the homes located on the community maintained private drives. Speaking of SouthView documents, HOAMCO mailed out ballots for the election regarding the SouthView Bylaws. Please remember to get those returned to HOAMCO before Feb 22, We need a positive vote of 51% of the membership to pass them, so your vote is important! The results will be announced at the Annual Meeting which is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 th at the Jeep Posse Building off Commerce Drive. You will be getting a slate of candidates for board positions just as soon as we can draft a few volunteers. Plan to attend the Annual Meeting if you can. We will have a great speaker and goodies to make it worth your while. See you there. Al West, President

2 2 FireWise Committee The Firewise Committee would like to remind the residents that this upcoming fire season could be very challenging. We have enjoyed the rain and snow but that creates the opportunity for more grasses and other vegetation that will dry out and become a fire risk unless we manage those fuel source on our properties and the HOA open space. Please go to the web site and checkout the Homeowner's FireWise Guide for detailed information on how to maintain your property in a FireWise manner. 6 Landscape Committee News 6 The Landscape Committee will meet as soon as we see signs of spring so we can do our drive around and determine what needs replacing this year. We did replace a large portion of irrigation line on Pedregal this winter and are hopeful that this will reduce the twice weekly emergency call to Jonny to come out and fix it. If you have a suggestion for work to be done please let a member of the committee know and we will take it under consideration.
