1 The Colonial Times The Battle of Bunker Hill 1775 A picture of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Based from an eyewitness, the Battle of Bunker Hill was another step from the battles of Lexington and Concord.. The British have declared martial law in England! Concerned with growing unrest in the countryside, people say that British General Thomas Gage, the Military General of Boston, sent troops to Concord to steal kept ammunition from the colonial militia! While on the trail to the ammunition storage, British soldiers conflicted with colonists in the Battle of Lexington, then had a true battle in the Battle of Concord! After the battles of Lexington and Concord, the British, who were under heavy fire at the time, retreated to Boston. When in Boston, General Gage was sacked! The British had to make a change of plans, then made their next move. The British s next move was to launch a frontal attack on Breed s Hill, also known as Bunker Hill. The first two combats were terrible for the British, but then, the tables were turned. From the information of an eyewitness, the colonists lost all their gunpowder and musket balls. The last charge was a British victory!

2 Unsung Hero of the Day A colonial woman sewing her son s pants together. Today s unsung heroes are the women whose husbands had to fight in the war, because they cooked, and cleaned, took care of the animals and the children. They also repaired and sewed broken things in the house, and most likely hunted for meat if need be. They had to be very patient and persevering because doing all the housework yourself was very hard. That s what I call a hero!

3 George Washington in about his teens in his commander s uniform. Colonial Times How Washington Affected the War George Washington was a famous commander in the Revolutionary War. He was the Commander of Continental Forces, and helped the Continental Army defeat the British during the Revolutionary War. Also, in 1754, in the French and Indian War, George Washington was chosen as the leader of the American army against the French. Also sometimes, while riding his horse, he waved his hat at his men, and they fought harder. Because of that, the American army succeeded in many wars!! Hooray! Thanks to George Washington, the lives of the colonists were changed in a positive way that made us free from taxes from the British, and changed the world forever!

4 Revolutionary War Quotes From Famous Leaders This is James Madison. A watchful eye must be kept on ourselves lest, while we are building ideal monuments of renown and bliss here, we neglect to have our names enrolled in the Annals of Heaven. James Madison To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace. George Washington
