2 John Surman to Children, 1777 Book F, p. 310 This indenture made this 7th day of October in the Year of Our Lord Between John Surman of in the Province of and Levy Surman and Ely Surman of the other part. Witneseth that the sd John Sirman for and in consideration of the Natural love and affection which he hath & bearth unto the said Levy Sirman and Eli Sirman for the Better Maintaining & Livilihood of them the said Levy Sirmon and Ely Sirmon Hath Given Granted alined... and confirmed and by these presents do give unto the said Levy Sirman and Ely Sirman their heirs Exn admn or assignes all that M... or Tenement of land situated & lying in in the Province afsd on the North side of Sandy Run. Bounded as follows. Beginning at a marked white Oak standing on the North of Sandy Run it being abounds Between the said Sirmon and Francis Rountree and going with that Division lines of Marked Trees Which Surmon and Rountree marked Between them to the upper line of the Original Line of the Patent Thence with the said line.o 77 East to the.. Corner of the Land thence So 13 W. to Sandy Run thence with the said Run to the first Station For 220 Acres more or less which I give to Levy Sirmon Ely Sirmon to them Equally divided between them. Levys to be at the the Lower End Beginning at the Marked White Oadk and going up the said Run to completed half the sd 220 acres by a line drawn from the Branch S 13 Et to the Back line of the Patten and Ely Sirmon to have the Upper part up the said Run and to go the Same Course So 13 Et to the back line of the Original Patten to them the said Levy Sirmon and Ely Sirmon. To have and to hold the aford Tract or parcel of Land together with all and Singular the houses orchards Buildings fences ways Woods inder Woods Timbers Timber Fees -- and all other the appertinances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in anywise apportaining thereunto to their only Proper use and behafs and to their heirs & assigns for Ever likewise I give to Levy Sirmon One Young horse in the same -- Manner and To Ely Sirmon one Mare. These Creatures to be their property. Likewise for the love I have and Bair unto all my Children and Sundry other Causes me unto moving have given granted and by these presents do grant and confirm unto Eunice English my Daughter and to my Daughter Nelly Barber and to my Daughter Mary Martin and to my Daughter Betty Sirmon all my Household goods and Chattles one Feather Bed to my Youngest Daughter Betty Sirmon all other things -- Only the House Kind and Land to be Equally Divided between my Children Eunice English and Nelly Barber and Mary Martin and Levy Sirmon and Ely Sirmon and Betty Sirmon. To have and to hold all and Singular the said goods & Chattles leases debts and all other the aforsd premisses unto the aforsd Mentioned Persons to them... E.. 3 Francis Roundtree to John Sirman, 1777 Know ye that I Francis Roundtree of the county and province aforesd planter, for & in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to me in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents by John Sirman planter of the county & province aforsd the receipt whereof I do acknowledge & my self therewith... satisfied & paid & every part & parcell thereof do... against & discharge the sd John Sirman his heirs En Adm & assigns forever by these presents have given granted bargained sold aline and confirmed & by these presents do fully & freely & absolutely give grant bargain sell deliver convey confirm assign & set over Unto the sd John Sirman & his heirs & assigns forwit a certain parcel of land containing fifty acres lying & being in on Sandy Run.. being part of one hundred acres of land bought by Francis Roundtree of George Moye Sen & purchased out of the lower end... of Land that Daniel Aguin obtained pattent for in & year... as follows, at a marked white oak standing on the No... & running up sd Run till a NW line to the division line... the sd Roundtree & Sirman shall make fifty acres of... & to hold the aforesd parcel of land together with all &... houses buildings gardens orchards prings ways wood und.. timber trees & all other appurtenances whatsoever... belonging or in any ways appurtaining unto him the sd Jno Sirman his heirs... 5 Israel Joiner to Levi Sirman, 1783 Book I, pp To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye that I, Israel Joiner, for and in consideration of the sum of ten pounds to me in hand paid before the sealing and delivery of these presents by Levi Sirman, planter of the County and Province aforesaid the receipt where of I do acknowledge and myself therewith to be fully satisfied contented and paid and every part and parcel thereof do exonerate acquit and discharge the said Levi Sirman his Heirs executor administrators or assigns forever and by these presents have given granted bargained unto alienated and confirmed and by these presents do fully and freely and absolutely give grant bargain sale convey and confirm assign and set over unto the said Levi Sirman and to his Heirs forever a tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and fifty acres more or less lying and being in on the South side of Tar River Bounded as follows: Beginning at a marked white oak running East 200 poles to a pine in Surrinah?? Meadow. Thence North 120 poles to a pine. Thence West 200 poles to a pine in Jacob Blounts line. Thence to the first station as the Grant directs, it being a parcel of land the said Israel Joiner, Sen. obtained a grant for in the year To have and to hold the aforesaid tract of land together with all and singular the Houses Buildings Orchards fences gardens springs wood under woods timber timber trees and all other appurtenances whatsoever there unto belonging unto him the said Levi Sirman his heirs and assigns forever and the said Israel Joiner for myself my heirs executors administrators do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Levi Sirman his heirs and assigns in manner and form as follows that is to say that the said Israel Joiner my heirs executors administrators therefore bargained premises and appurtenances and every part parcel thereof to the said Levi Sirman his heirs executors administrators or assigns against all manner of persons, will warrant and forever defend. 6 Francis Rountree to John Sirman, 1784 Craven County Book I, pp To all to whom these presents shall come, I Francis Rountree of Craven in the State and County Afore Said Planter send greeting Know ye that I Francis Rountree of the County and Province Afor Said for and in Consideration of the Sum of Twenty Five pounds of good and Lawfull Money of the State to me in hand paid before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents by John Sirman Planter of teh County of Pitt and Province afor Said the Receipt whereof I do acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid and every part and parcel thereof to bequit and discharge the Said John Sirman his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns forever and by these presents do fully and freely and absolutely give grant bargain sell deliver convey confirm assign and set over unto the said John Sirman and to his Heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred acres Lying and being in Beaufort County on the South Side of Cambells Creek and on the East side of Smiths Creek, Beginning at a pine on the South of Smiths Creek Running down Cambells Creek Past 126 pole to a pine then South 15 degrees East 126 pole to a pine then West 126 pole to Smiths Creek then with the Windings of the Creek to the first Beginning. To have and to hold the Aforesaid Tract or parcel of Land Together with all and Singular the House Orchards Gardens Fences ways Springs Woods under Woods Timber Timber Trees and all other Appurtainences Whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaning unto him the Said John Sirman his heirs and assigns forever and I the Said Francis Rountree for myself my heirs Executors Administrators do Covenant grant promise and agree to and with the said John Sirman his heirs and assigns in manny and form as follows that is to say that I the Said Francis Rountree me my Heirs executors Administrators The pre Bargained premisses appurtaineces and every part and parcel thereof to the said John Sirman his heirs Executors Administrators Assigns Against all manner of persons whatsoever shall and will forever Warrent and defend. 7 John Sirmon to Eli Sirmon, 1785 Book I, pp This Indenture made this 8 day of March in the year of our Lord 1785 between John Sirmon of in the State aforesaid and Eli Sirman son of the said Sirman of the Afore mentioned County and State of the other. Witness that the Said John Sirman for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he hath and bear unto the said Eli Sirman for the better maintaining and lively hood of him, the said Eli Sirman, hath given, granted, alienated,..., confirmed, and by these presents do give, grant unto the said Eli Sirman his heirs, executors, administrators, or assigns a certain measure or tenement of land situated and lying in in the State aforesaid on the North side of Sandy Run Bounded as... Beginning at a Marked Gum standing on the North side of Sandy Run and run from thence North till it comes to the line of the Original Patent. Thence with the said line South 77 East to the third Corner a marked Pine is being the third corner of the original Patent. Thence South 13 West with the Original line 182 poles to Sandy Run. Thence down the Sd Run to the first Station for 100 ten acres more or less, it being part of a patent Daniel Oguin (O Gwin?) obtained a right to March 27the in the year To have and to hold the aforesaid land together all and singular the Houses, Orchards, Buildings, Gardens, fences Saring Ways, Woods, and Timber, Timber Trees, and all the appurtances there unto belonging in any wise appertaining unto him the said Eli Sirman his heirs, Administrators, an assigns, forever and I the Said John Sirman for myself, my heirs, Executors, Administrators, do covenant, grant, and agree to and wish the said Eli Sirman his Heirs, Executors, Administrators, in form and manner as follows, that is to say that I the said John Sirman do give the Above mentioned Land and premises to him, the said Eli Sirman, to him, his heirs, Executors, and assigns, forever providing he or they should not debar me of any privilege I may want on it during my life. Spring woods under woods timber timber trees and all other appertenances whatsoever thereunto belonging or in anywise appurtancing unto the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns forever and I the said Levy Sirman for myself my heirs Exer Admst or assigns do for myself my heirs Executors Administrators assigns do promise to and with the said Joseph Smith his heirs and assigns in manner and form as follows that is to say that I the said Levi Sirman for myself my heirs Executors Administrators or assigns the pre bargained premises and appurtances and every part and parcel thereof unto him the said Joseph Smith to him his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns will warrent and defend from me or my heirs or any one for us or any one under us or for us or any other person laying right title or interest to the same. 9 Levi Sirmon to John Kittrell, 1797 Deed Book O, p. 214 This indenters made this fifteenth day of November one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven witness that I Levi Sirmon of the County & State Aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five pounds lawfull money of the State aforesaid to me in hand paid by John Kittrell of the State Aforesaid the receit hereof I do acknowledge and I myself thereby fully satisfied contented and paid and doth this presents... the said John Kittrel his heirs Executors Adminstrators and assigns and by these presents have given granted bargained and sold alienated commande and confirmed and by this presents do fully clarily and absolutely give grant bargain set over convey and confirm unto the said John Kitrel his heirs heirs and assigns for ever a certain tract or parcel of land on the East side of little Condentney? Creek and on the North Side of Sandy Run a Branch of Said Condentney? Creek Beginning as follows at a White Oak on Sandy Run John Kittrells Upper corner of land he know lives on and up said Kittrels own line by a division line of Marked trees made between John Sirmon and Francis Rountree to the back line of the original line of the old patent obtained by Daniel OGrien. Then along the old patent line untill it shall make one hundred and ten acres of land with a straight line to Sandy Run then down the various courses to the beginning to bonds? one hundred and ten acres one hundred and ten acres of land together with all all wright titles and previledges thereunto belonging and I the said Levi Sirmon do warrant and forever defend unto John Kitrel for ever freely and clearly from all person or persons whatever to have and to hold the bargained primises to the said John Kitrel his heirs and assigns forever. 10 Thomas Surman to John Anderson, 1798 Book O, p. 161 Know all men by these that I Thomas Surman of the Province and County aforesaid for an inconsideration of the Sum of two Hundred Pounds current money to me in hand Paid by John Anderson of the County and Province aforesaid have Bargained Sold Aliened Set over Conveyed and Confirmed and by these presents do Bargain Sell Aline and Set over Conveyed and Confirmed unto the said John Anderson his heirs and assigns forever a Certain Track Parcell of Land Containing two hundred Acres be the Same more or less lying and being in the County of Pitt on the South Side of Tar River and North Side of Pain Branch. begining at a.. Oak on the Said Branch near the mouth thence Running an agreed line Between Samuel Simmons and Said Surman North thirty degree East Namely four poles crossing one Branch to a pine Thence agreed line North seventy five degrees West Sixty Six pole to a pine thence agreed line again North forty degrees West one hundred and Ninety poles crossing some thick Ground ta a pine Indented for a Corner Between Sd Surmon and his Son John Surmon thence an agreed line of a black Gum in the Run of the pain Branch thence down the Various Courses of the of Sd Pain Branch to the first Station To Have and to Hold the Sd two hundred acres of land more only to him the Sd John Anderson him his heirs and assigns Exe Adms forever and I the said Thomas Surmon for myself my heirs and assigns do Covenant and agree with the said John Anderson his heirs and that I have a Lawful... to Sell the above piece of Land in the manner aforesaid and that I the said John Anderson his Heirs and assigns Shall and and may for ever hereafter hold occupy posses and Enjoy the aforesaid Granted land and without... or Molestation of any Person or Persons whatever the same in clear and free from all manner of.. defend the afor... land unto the said John Anderson Heirs and assigns for ever against the lawfull claims of any person whatsoever... set my hand this 20th day of October in the year of the Lord one thouseand seven hundred... and the said Thomas Surman doth hereafter oblidge myself my heirs & assigns to warrant seven hundred and ninety? eight and in the twenty second Year of the INdependance of the Sd State. 11 Eli Sirmon to Hardy Johnston, 1799 Deed Book O, p. 240 This Indenture made this Seventeenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between Eli Sirmon of the State No. Carolina and County of Pitt of the one part and Hardy Johnston of the other part. Witness that I the said Eli Sirmon for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds to me in hand paid by the said Hardy Johnston the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself fully satisfied contented and paid have bargained sold and delivered unto the said Hardy Johnston his heirs executors administrators and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid and on the North Side of Sandy run Containing two hundred acres be the same more or less: beginning at a marked Gum standing on the North Side of Sandy Run and runs from thence North until it comes to the line of the original patent then with said line.
