The cones began a p.m. Saurday and coninued wihou pause unil p.m. Sunday. The game was in progress a he same ime as he annual Cerebral Palsey Marahon was being held nex door a he Municipal Audiorium. According o agreed upon erms, each eam would donae 0 cens _o he TV Marahon for each poin scored agains i. Wih cheering supporers from boh eams filling he sands Saurday nigh, he game began. Uilizing heir superior heigh and deph, he favored Taus pulled away seadily. Once a definie lead was esablished, he Taus subsiued freely o allow is various eam members ime o res. Dela Bea Pi eam members did no fare so well in he res deparmen, and heir personnel shorage proved o be one of he key facors in he Taus' subsanial vicory. As he game wore on ino he early morning hours, he sands sared hinning ou unil hose I remaining consised mainly of he players hemselves. ~ Dr. Charles Millican, Presiden of FTU, showed his suppor by making an appearance shorly afer 3 a.m. inquiring on he progress of he game. The only walkway now lef beween he wo buildings goes by he Village Cener. :Tuoring Planned The residence saff of boh he men's and women's residences have sared a uorial program for he residen sudens. "Operaion Suden Concern" is designed o provide compeen suden uors for any residen ha desires his service. If a residen is in a posiion where he can be of help in his way, he should ge in ouch wih Kahy Kersen or Tom Kearney, residen Assisans in charge. We know we need he small resaurans and he lile convenience sores, so hese areas were all drawn off on a map while he zoning was compleely frozen. SG Elecion Meeing Held Sudens planning o run for a Suden Governmen office will aend a suden assembly Tuesday, February 25 a a.m. in he Science Audiorium. Peiions for office will be available a he meeing. Sudens who are ineresed in working a he polls and serving as elecion officials are also asked o aend he meeing. The suden assembly is pending raificaion of he proposed consiuion. Baker Takes Dayona 500 Afer he flames and wreckage of he five races of speed week a Dayona Inernaional Speedway were cleared away, Buddy Baker was found solidly in pole posiion for he Dayona 500, o be run Sunday, February 23. Baker hopes o drive his Dodge Charger o firs place and he op prize from he $204,50 purse, while a large field of well known sock car drivers will probably op an average speed of 60 miles per hour rying o ou duel him. However, his is how a consiuion of his naure mus be srucured. If here were specifics in he consiuion i would never be able o please mos people. Therefore i mus be made of generaliies so ha i can be voed in by he sudens so S. G. can begin o funcion. Then.; afer i is voed in; i mus be amended and revised. According o he proposed consiuion i can be amended by a 2/ 3 senae voe or a wrien peiion presened o a senaor bearing siganures of a leas 25 per cen of he suden body. (Around 400 names presenly). Also remember you as a suden body member will be elecing your senaors. These people wan o know wha you wan. Bend heir ears off if necessary and if hey aren' your voice don' voe for hem again. Subersive organizaions wihou any real purpose 'excep o creae rouble would be numerous. I can well be imagined he problems ha arise if clubs did no have o be officially recognized by someone. And he logical choice is fellow sudens, which is supposed o be wha S.G. is o be made up of. Aricle II Secion 6, by he way, is he powers and duies of he suden senae which will be made up of around 50 sudens a leas one of which will be from each class in each college. So he chances are ha every suden knows a leas one senaor. Wih a governing body like his here is no chance of one or wo people sopping any organizaion from being acceped. Even he presiden's veo can be overridden wih jus a 2/3 senae voe. So he only organizaions who would need o fear no being recognized are he clubs which would no mee he Universiy sandards which would only mean rouble for hose meeing hem. REMEMBER!! as he consiuion sands now he only conrol he S.G. could exercise is he graning or removing of approval as recognized organizaions. If you don' wan S.G. o have any more power han his see o i ha your senaor knows wha you wan and he can make an amendmen saing jus wha you wan, and if he sudens are wih your idea i will be passed. We urge a "yes" voe from he suden body bu we also urge he individual sudens o paricipae in S.G. o make i work. Run for an office or help on a campaign. This is our Suden Governmen. 4 February 2, 969 FuTU.r e FTU Exhibi On Movies 'Belle dejour' To Be a Fair Is a Challenge By ROBERT E. HOLSINGER "Belle dejour" is an exciing new moion picure experience; i is a challange. The subjec maer could be considered depressing, bu he reamen of he whole fanasy is -rich enough o make he film's commen more poen han he climax/resolvemen of he convenional moion picure. Caherine Deneuve plays Severine Serizy, a young, sexually naive girl who has been married o a medical suden (Jean Sorel) for a year. The seemingly well-o-do beauy is frigid. A conversaion wih a middle aged philanderer supplies he vial deails abou an exising house of prosiuion. Relucanly, eiher hrough curiosiy or wha migh be described as a form of herapy, she becomes a member of he broher's saff. Her hours are wo o five, hus she adops he name "Belle dejour." A his poin he film could have srayed o a course in abnormal psych, by way of responses o cliens number one, wo, hree and so on; his is minimized. A gangser, Marcel (Pierre Climeni) eners (His clohes would make he cas on 25h Sree call he "man" for mercy). Where he comes from, i is hard o say... he gives he picure a sho in he arm. Belle and he fall in love. Marcel finds ou abou Belle's husband. Things deviae a lile from wha would be he ordinary course. As I have said he picure is a fanasy. The viewer is supplied wih many moivaional hins via Severine's inricaely consruced subconscious sexual obsessions. The eroic manifesaions are vivid; hey come wihou warning. Direcor Bunel ses aside he sandardized cinemagraphic devices of inerprospecion (here are no surrealisic flash-backs like one migh have seen in "Poin Blank", slow moion, fuzziness, and so on. As he viewer acceps hese in a one o one relaionship ha consummaes Belle's acions, he ges he feeling of incompleeness. One migh hink ha here are no clear-cu disincions beween wha is real and wha is imaginary. If his is ruely he case, he whole film migh be he husband's fanasy. In oal, he film does seem o lean more heavily oward a neo-fruedian masculine fanasy. In any case, we find ourselves rying o consruc he exernal (or real) from he inernal (or imaginary). "Belle dejour" iniially migh leave you siing in amazemen. I overshadows he usual Prosaic saemen of characer and plo. The visual paradox vaguely relaes o a line by Henry James from he "Auhor of Belraffio". "Poor lile Dolcino was rrore exquisiely beauiful in deah \han he had been in life." Thus, a major heme of he pluck and deerminaion of he Jewish people is inroduced, bu i soon becomes a minor heme because no more is said abou i. Now we ge down o he real core of "Icos". The gull ha would fill up he empy blue sky is a symbol of he Jewish people as a whole. The "space which lacks i (he gull)" is obviously he world. Symbolizing geniles is he eagle which is presen in he sky. Dr. Gambrell has a background in indusrial engineering and has served as consulan o some of he naion's major indusrial firms, including he Advisory Group of he U.S. Army Tes and Evaluaion Command and he U.S. Army Scienific Advisory Panel. He has had ousanding professional experience and is a recognized auhor in his field. Dr. Gambrell was appoined o he op academic pos a Tech in March, 967, and has been responsible for developing he academic, research, and coninuing educaion programs and for selecing he deans and professors for he new universiy.
