1 Sunday, November 27, 2016 Lesson Text: Revelation 22:12-21 King James Version (KJV) I. A DECLARATION OF SOVEREIGNTY (Revelation 22:12-16 ) 12. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

2 II. A DECLARATION OF RESPONSIBILITY (Revelation 22:17-19) 17. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. 18. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. III. A FINAL BENEDICTION (Revelation 22:20-21) 20. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21. I am the Alpha and the Omega,the First and the Last,the Beginning and the End. 14. Blessed are those who wash their robes,that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. 16. I, Jesus,have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star. II. A DECLARATION OF RESPONSIBILITY (Revelation 22:17-19) 17. The Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let the one who hears say, Come! Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

4 18. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll:if anyone adds anything to them,god will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy,god will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. III. A FINAL BENEDICTION (Revelation 22:20-21) 20. He who testifies to these things says, Yes, I am coming soon. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. 21. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God s people. Amen. PRACTICAL POINTS FOR DISCUSSION: 1. When Jesus returns, He will punish evil and reward good (Revelation 22:12). 2. We can trust Jesus words because He has always existed

5 and always will (Revelation 22:13). 3. In order to enter the New Jerusalem, you must be cleansed of your sins (Revelation 22:14). 4. All unbelievers and the unrighteous will have no place in the New Jerusalem, only the lake of fire and brimstone (Revelation 22:15; 21:8). 5. The promise of Christ s coming should move us to present the gospel to everyone (Revelation 22:16-17). 6. We must be on guard against any distortion of God s Word (Revelation 22:18-19). 7.
