3 Judging Chairman s Message winter 2017 The leaves have fallen and most cars are in hibernation for the winter. My thoughts are on Christmas preparations and what will be the next steps in the chapter s future. It is always difficult to make a change and the decision to step down has left me with mixed emotions. In conclusion, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Year and the best of the seasons to you and your family and have a prosperous The AGM has come and gone and the executive has changed considerably. After 17 years on the executive, I think it s time for a break from deadlines and the pressures of making things happen. I ve held all of the executive positions except for treasurer and secretary. I did a lot of traveling to other chapters looking at best practices and what could be easily implemented and that is how we became a Top-Flight Chapter. My approach was If they can do, so can we. I loved the challenge. The new executive under the leadership of Andy Goodman will bring fresh new ideas to the Chapter and I am excited to see what they will do in I would like to thank all the members for their support and friendship over the years. I met a lot of new friends in the hobby and I m thankful for that opportunity. In my new role as member of the chapter I am always available to help answer questions about NCRS and judging questions. 3

4 Chairman s Message Winter 2017 Well another year is coming to a close. Recently we held our annual general membership meeting. Nominations were held for open positions left vacant by long term board members for the following positions, Judging, Newsletter Editor, Membership, Top Flight Administrator and Road Tour Chair. We would like to thank Pat, Susan, Murray and Dave for their fantastic and seemingly endles efforts throughout their tenure. All of them have assured the chapter that they are here to stay and assist the chapter in the future as well as assisting their replacements get up to speed. I am pleased to announce that Trailcon Leasing will assist with our Newsletter, Robert Dardengo will look after are Top Flight Program and Enzo Colosimo will head up our Road Tour with Dave s assistance. The Chapter is still looking for someone to fill the 9gap in our Judging Chairs seat. Pat and myself will be able to assist with the learning curve of this position. Ideally this person should have been involved in the judging process at some level. However as with most chapter tasks, organizational skills plays a large role. I welcome all members to contact me if you have any interest in assisting the club at any level. 6 C-4 Coupe Rear Window Seal OK Soooo.. All C4 Coupes eventually have the rear glass rubber seal split apart at the right angle seam. Must be a design flaw??...(vulcanize two pieces of rubber at a stress point ) Anyway Corvettes don t have design flaws Do they nope didn t think so. So you buy the new replacement rubber seal, comes with instructions that are easy to follow and understand. No Problem But there is one thing that is not mentioned in the instructions The White glue that is used on the original seal.oh Boy!!!... Well I changed mine What a Mess..this white glue reminds me of a triple cheese pizza The glue is stringy and sticks to everything.. YUK.. The cleanup was also a disaster.glue is sticking to the body surrounding the seal!!!! My strong suggestion is to use painters tape and many old towels.the ones that are used to dry the dog Tape those towels on all the body surrounding the old seal Right next to the seal!!! Before You Remove the Old Seal because you are going to heave those towels away. And you wouldn t have to clean the White Sticky Glue off the body It is a Nasty job to clean that white sticky glue off the body Been there Did that Dave Woollings 6

10 Judging School The judging school took on a similar format as previous school s with a show and tell format which everyone seems to enjoy. It is the opportunity for members to bring in and show off their original parts and compare them to a typical reproduction part and explain why the reproduction is not a good representation of the real part. Part of the fun of this format is the stories of how the original part was found, what the owner paid for it and how it was restored by the owner. This is such a great forum for all members to get involved in the session as everyone has a part they bought that was not correct. I would encourage everyone to look in their old parts boxes to find a part they can share the next time this event comes around. Some of the parts looked at included the C-1 emblems, door arm rests, oil filters, radio parts, nuts and bolts, wiring connectors and bulb sockets to name a few of the parts that were discussed. Take a look at the photos included with this story and see if you can spot the reproduction. The session included a lunch provided by the Chapter for attending members as a thank you for their participation which included sandwiches, drinks, donuts and coffee. 12 AGM The AGM this year was held at Rocco s garage in Brampton with an exceptional turn out of 35 members. Thank you Rocco for the use of your garage for this event. The event was unique for the Ontario Chapter as it combined a judging school event with the AGM. Congratulations to the new executive! Thanks to all past executive who gave their time and talents to the success of the Chapter. Certainly the hi light of the AGM in past years has been the election of officers and the voting process. This year was no exception as the ballot was almost all blank! So how do you have a vote when there are no candidates? Members who attended nominated candidates on the ballot which was a first and then chapter chairman Andy Goodman approached members to see if they would accept the nomination. In the end a new executive was elected
