Overnight: Flight DAY TWO TUESDAY, JULY 10, 2018 ARRIVAL Arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport. Individuals transfers to Jerusalem (not included, can be booked with our customer service center). Check into the hotel. 6:00 p.m. - meet at the hotel lobby and depart for dinner. Welcome dinner at Olive & Fish, a great family-style meat and fish restaurant located across from the Liberty Bell Garden. Israel Orientation with the Rabbi and Tour Educator. Overnight: Jerusalem DAY THREE WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2018 THE LAYERS OF JERUSALEM Israeli 2018: Dialogue with scholar Paul Liptz of Tel Aviv University and the Hebrew Union College. Stop at the Haas Promenade for an overlook of the Old and New City of Jerusalem and to recite the traditional shehechiyanu blessing. Depart for the Old City and begin your tour, splitting into 2 tracks: Explore the excavations at the City of David, the very core of ancient Jerusalem, view the Gihon Spring and wade through the 2,700-year-old water tunnel of King Hezekiah (optional dry exit). Stop at the Kotel (Western Wall) and experience the special atmosphere of this holy site. Lunch on own in the Jewish Quarter. First timers: Explore the Western Wall Tunnel, the underground continuation of the Temple Mount's Western Wall, exposed in recent years. Walking tour through the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, for visits to archaeological treasures and other highlights, among them: A walk along the Rooftops of the Old City for a behind-thescenes look at the various communities in Jerusalem and how they live alongside each other. The Cardo, the main street of Jerusalem in the 6th century. King Hezekiah's First Temple-period Broad Wall. Hurva Square, the central square of the Jewish Quarter. Returnees: Lunch on own in the Old City. Visit the modern Begin Museum, devoted to the life and achievements of the late Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin. All Return to the hotel. Free time in the Mamilla pedestrian arcade, a very contemporary shopping area with a whiff of the past, located outside the Jaffa Gate of the Old City; dinner on own. The Night Spectacular at the Tower of David Museum: The walls of the Citadel serve as a stage for a night-time show - a celebration of sight and sound - that depicts the story of Jerusalem. Overnight: Jerusalem DAY FOUR THURSDAY, JULY 12, 2018 MEMORY & RENEWAL Optional: enjoy an urban run with Rabbi Fleekop along the old Jerusalem train tracks jogging path. Challenges and Triumphs of Religious Pluralism and Social Justice in Israel: Dialogue with Anat Hoffman, Executive Director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC). Adults Visit the Yad Vashem complex, the Jewish National Memorial to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including: The Avenue of the Righteous The Historical Museum The Children's Memorial A concluding Memorial Service Visit the National Military Cemetery on Mt. Herzl to recall landmark events in modern Israeli history in which these soldiers gave their lives. Follow with a visit to the graves of Theodor Herzl, Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres in the adjacent section for Leaders of the Nation.

5 Children (with an adult) Visit Ein Yael, an interactive, living museum, located on a 2,000-year-old archaeological site. There is the option of taking part in weaving, ceramics, painting and other crafts typical of life in ancient times. Dinner on own, perhaps on vibrant Emek Refaim Street, in Jerusalem's German Colony. Overnight: Jerusalem DAY FIVE FRIDAY, JULY 13, 2018 I'M DIGGIN' ISRAEL Drive out of Jerusalem. Visit the Armored Corps Memorial and Museum at Latrun, a key point and a battle ground on the road that links Jerusalem with the coastal plain, from Biblical times through the Six-Day War. Take part in an archaeological dig at the Beit Guvrin Caves and prepare to get your hands dirty as uncovering pottery from the Hellenistic period, 2,300 years ago, followed by

a crawl through the Maresha Cave Labyrinth (crawling is optional). Beit Guvrin-Maresha National Park was recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch on own en route.

Ascend by cable-car or walk up the Snake Path to Masada, Herod's mountain palace and the site of the Jewish Zealots' last stand against the Roman Legionnaires. Discuss Masada's role as a symbol of Jewish defence and its current significance in modern Israel. Lunch on own en route. Short hike to Nahal David, the freshwater spring and waterfalls in the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, where David hid from King Saul. Experience an astonishing sense of weightlessness as you float in the super-saline Dead Sea. Return to Jerusalem. Returnees (on own) Visit the wonderfully creative Israel Museum, with its wide-ranging and eclectic collection, from Archaeology and the Dead Sea Scrolls, to Jewish Life and Art, European art, contemporary Israeli art and the open-air model of Jerusalem in the Second Temple period. Lunch on own. LaDa'at Hebrew Writers: Guided walk through the streets of Jerusalem, using the writings of Jerusalem's poets and authors, such as Yehuda Amichai, S.Y. Agnon and others. All Ben Kodesh Lechol: Havdallah overlooking the Old City. Free time to explore Downtown Jerusalem, including the Ben-Yehuda pedestrian mall and the Nachalat Shiva neighborhood, with dinner on own. Overnight: Jerusalem DAY SEVEN SUNDAY, JULY 15, 2018 DREAMS AND CONQUEST ON THE ROAD NORTH Check out of the hotel, depart Jerusalem and drive northwards along the Jordan Valley, part of the enormous Syrian-African Rift. Visit the 1,500-year-old Beit Alfa Synagogue, with its beautiful mosaic floor, for an insight into Jewish spiritual life during the Byzantine period (located on Kibbutz Heftziba, at the foot of the Gilboa range). Drive via Tiberias, an ancient/modern city located on the shores of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). One of Israel's four holy Jewish cities, this is where the Jerusalem Talmud was codified and where Maimonides is buried; stop for lunch on own. Continue to the Upper Galilee to Tsfat, a center of Jewish mysticism for hundreds of years and a contemporary artists' colony, including: Guided visit to the Ari, Caro or Abuhav Synagogues, each with its great stories and mystical messages. A stroll through the quaint Artists' Colony, shop in the galleries and crafts shops and engage in dialogues with local artisans inspired by the messages of Kabbalah. Continue to the kibbutz hotel in the Upper Galilee and check into the hotel.

Overnight: Kibbutz Hotel, Upper Galilee DAY EIGHT MONDAY, JULY 16, 2018 SWEETS, SERENITY AND SECURITY IN THE NORTH Optional early morning run along the Jordan River or on the kibbutz grounds with Rabbi Fleekop. Hike to Nahal El Al from the Golan Plateau into the heart of the basalt gorges through a canyon with flowing water, beautiful pools and waterfalls. Take a Jeep tour off-road up the Golan Heights in the footsteps of Israeli soldiers and their battles in the Six- Day War. Enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and gain an insight into the strategic complexity of the Golan. Visit a Druze village in the Golan Heights for a window into the unique world of the Israeli Druze community, with home-hospitality lunch. The panoramic views from Mt. Bental (overlooking the abandoned Syrian town of Kuneitra) give sharp insights into Israel's security situation on the Golan Heights, and the enormous challenges it faced in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and the new threat from the north, ISIS. Option 1 Wine Tasting at a local winery on the Golan Heights. Option 2 Enjoy the culinary delight of a chocolate workshop at the De Karina Chocolate Factory on Kibbutz Ein Zivan. All Drive back to the Kibbutz. Option 1 Enjoy rafting or kayaking down the Jordan River. Option 2 Enjoy the hotel's pool and spa facilities.

Overnight: Kibbutz Hotel, Upper Galilee DAY NINE TUESDAY, JULY 17, 2018 FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO THE SEA Check out of the hotel and depart the Upper Galilee. Visit the Zippori National Park, known for its extraordinary ancient mosaics and its central role in Jewish life after the destruction of the Temple. Visit Kfar Kedem in the Galilee for a hands-on family experience, exploring Jewish life of 2,000 years ago, including donkey rides, costumes, pita baking and more. Lunch on own. Continue to the coastal plain and visit Caesarea, one of the Land of Israel's most important cities in the Roman Period. Visit the Herodian Theater and the excavations along the Mediterranean shore, concluding with a visit to the ruined 900-year-old Crusader town. Enter the city of Tel Aviv, known as the city that never sleeps, with its centers of culture, recreation and national history, great beaches and fine stores. Time permitting: stroll along the Nachalat Binyamin pedestrian mall, with its bi-weekly crafts fair and eateries. Alongside is the colorful Carmel open-air market and across the way Sheinkin Street, with its hip cafés and funky chic shopping. Check into the hotel. Free Evening in Tel Aviv, with dinner on own for an opportunity to: Experience Tel Aviv Port, with its restaurants and clubs. Explore the gentrified Neve Zedek neighborhood. Saunter down the Tel Aviv Beach Promenade. Wander through the Tachana, Tel Aviv's renovated old train station, now a center of boutiques and good food, and one of Tel Aviv's blooming hot spots. Overnight: Tel Aviv DAY TEN WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2018 TEL AVIV: THE FIRST HEBREW CITY Optional: Take an urban run along the Tel Aviv Promenade with Rabbi Fleekop. Visit the Old City of Jaffa and ascend from the old port through the renovated alleyways to the Jaffa Overlook for an introduction to Tel Aviv at the place where it all began and walk through the famous Jaffa Flea Market - Shuk Hapishpishim. Return to Tel Aviv and stroll down Rothschild Boulevard to view examples of the intriguing Bauhaus-style architecture from the 1930s; the local proliferation of the style won Tel Aviv recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site and the nickname of the White City'. Against The Odds - Building a State: Visit Independence Hall, where David Ben-Gurion proclaimed the State of Israel on May 14th, Lunch on own, perhaps at the Carmel Market OR at the Sarona Market - through the smells, flavors and tastes of this renovated historical Templers town, explore the range of cuisine from local street food to fine dining by world renowned Israeli chefs. Rest of the afternoon at leisure for last minute shopping and packing or to crash the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. Farewell Middle-Eastern-style dinner at Maganda, in Tel Aviv's Yemenite Quarter, with a varied menu of traditional salads and grilled meats.
