That funny looking horn is a ram s horn, called a Shofar, and as you ll see - a truly amazing trumpet. Ready? Let s go! (Music) Mmmm. I wonder where we are. Huh? Is this the Promised Land? There aren t many guards on the West wall. I think we ll be all YOUNG MAN: Um-hum. right if we climb up quickly. BOTH: GUARD: RED NECK: (PANTING, STRAINING, GASPING, ETC.) Ha! Rabbit stew for dinner! (SHORT LAUGH & SIGH OF RELIEF) Time for a little more wine. (GLUG-GLUG) Well! Where ya goin with that basket?

Just because you re a soldier... doesn t mean you can take whatever you want. RED NECK RED NECK RED NECK BOTH: You ve got a big mouth! But I ve got more muscle! No, don t. My father needs that! Take that for your father! (Crying) (CLOSED MOUTH CHUCKLE) Um? Um-hum! YOUNG MAN: You all right, miss? Huh? YOUNG MAN: Don t be afraid... There you go. YOUNG MAN: We ll see that you get home safely. 7 Title: THOSE AMAZING TRUMPETS 7 C & J: Radar picking up someone near river. Then, c mon. Huh? Shhh. I think he s praying. Lord God, the two scouts we sent to Jericho have not yet returned. Please keep them safe from harm. It is in your name they undertook this mission... In your name, let them return! (Music) YOUNG MAN: How do you feel, Rahab? FATHER: I m fine now. Father, these two men helped me. Thank you for helping my daughter, but I really must ask: Is the rumor I ve heard about you Israelites planning to capture Jericho true? The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob promised us this land many years ago. Now, is the time of fulfillment. YOUNG MAN: And I can promise you that all those who believe in our God will be safe and will live in peace. FATHER: THE TWO: That s possible? Um-hum. Father... Of course it s possible. Anything would be better than those soldiers who abuse us.(gasp) SOLD. X: Open up, in the name of the ruler. Open this door! Open up, or we ll break it down! (BREATH & GRUNT) So.. X: RED NECK: (GRUNTS) (GASP) They ve got to be around here somewhere. Don t worry. We ll find them. Let s go. We ll be back. (SIGH) It is time to escape now. YOUNG MAN: Thank you. Rahab, we ll never forget your kindness. If you speak the truth, I beg you to make me one promise. That my family will be safe when the city is captured. You have my word. But... in order for this house to be safe from our soldiers, you must hang a red rope from the window. Hm? I will remember. YOUNG MAN: When the fighting starts, be sure to keep inside. MAN M: MAN N: MAN O: (NOISES) Could it be they? Uh-huh! Who else? It must be! (Cheering) SOLD. A: Welcome back! Thank God you re safe. Indeed! Thanks mainly to our young brother here. Maybe he should take over your job now? YOUNG MAN: I did nothing special. We worked together. Besides, God was with us. GOD: Amen to that, young man. He is a hero. I wish I could ve been with him. Of course. But notice he didn t take any credit for himself. Um-hum. But the big question is: what are they gonna do now? Joshua! This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, I shall be with thee...and thou shalt command the priests that bear the covenant, saying, Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passes over before you into Jordan, and the people shall pass over. How are they gonna get all these people across? Hereby, you shall know that the living God is with you. Behold the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth!

10 Title: THOSE AMAZING TRUMPETS 10 Bear the ark of the Lord into the middle of the river until the people have passed over. PRIEST: We believe and shall do as you have asked. They re going to be drowned! Right. Someone has to rescue them right away! He just keeps right on praying. Look at the water! (AMAZEMENT) Oh! Look! YOUNG MAN: What more proof do we need that God is with us? A miracle! How can one doubt it? Don t be afraid. The living God has provided the way to pass over. SOLD. A: HURRAY! HURRAY! HURRAY! Doesn t this remind you of that time with Moses? God can do a repeat performance if He wants to! (Mumbling) Those walls seem awfully big! Joshua, if you want, we two will climb the wall and attach some ropes. Just remember, my friend, don t be impatient! But surely you must have a battle plan, don t you? Surrender to God! God of our fathers, we know you brought us safely to this land as you promised Moses. Please grant us the wisdom to act in accordance with Thy will, that we may be victorious. (Music)

11 Title: THOSE AMAZING TRUMPETS 11 My brothers, God has revealed the plan that we must follow. We are to march around the walls of the city for six days in complete silence, except for the sound of the ram s horn which the priests play. But remember, there must be complete silence except for those trumpets. And God promises, on the seventh day the walls of the city will collapse. Are we ready to obey God? SOLD A: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes! Yes! YOUNG MAN: Yes! RED NECK: SOLD. X: RED NECK Yes!! (Cheering) What are those idiots trying to do, serenade us? I ll bet they want us to come out and dance with em! Ha, ha, fat chance! (LOW RUMBLE OF CONCERN) Now is the seventh day of our vigil. The day we shall prove the power of a living God. Keep silent, til I give the signal! (Horns blow) Now, everyone give a mighty shout of victory! (SHOUTING) (SHOUTS) Thanks be to God, the walls of Jericho have come down! Now, attack! Take the city! (ATTACK AND FIGHT SOUNDS) (CONTINUE FIGHTING) Time now to keep your promise to Rahab. Go to her house and protect her. YOUNG MAN: Right.

12 Title: THOSE AMAZING TRUMPETS 12 Can we go with you? YOUNG MAN: Sure. She s supposed to hang a red rope. Hm. That could be the one! YOUNG MAN: (SHOUTING) Rahab. Rahab, open up. We ve come back to rescue you. Open the door. You re safe now! How I prayed that you would not forget. YOUNG MAN: How could I?! BOOK: Yes, little friends, you have witnessed a story worth remembering. Joshua was a mighty leader - strong and brave, and yet merciful to those who showed mercy, as did Rahab. But his victory at Jericho was, without doubt, due to the power of the living God. (CLOSING SONG)
