1 Chapter 1 The sun wind on its circuit rivers and sea a sea with room for more water unsatisfied eye forgetfulness (no remembrance of former things) seeking and searching heart burdensome task something crooked much grief Chapter 2 a test with mirth wine houses vineyards gardens and orchards fruit trees water pools the grove (not at Ole Miss) male and female servants herds and flocks silver and gold singers musical instruments happy heart no profit (under the sun) fool (in the dark) memory of the wise and the fool Hatred of life :( hatred of labor :( a heart with no rest even in the night a sinner gathering and collecting

2 Chapter 3 a season planting plucking killing healing breaking down building up weeping laughing mourning dancing stones (cast away and gathered) embracing not embracing gaining losing keeping tossing (throw away) tearing (ripping) sewing keeping quiet speaking loving hating war and peace profit eternity in hearts wickedness in the place of judgment iniquity in the place of righteousness animals dust Chapter 4 oppression tears of oppressed power with oppressors no comforter (not a part of bed covering) already dead envious neighbor fool with folded hands two warm people a threefold cord poor and wise youth old and foolish king a prison

3 Chapter 5 sacrifice of fools mouth heart few words dreams fool's voice (many words) a vow messenger of God excuse multitude of dreams oppression of poor violent perversion of justice and righteousness high officials and higher officials the field silver laboring man and sweet sleep severe evil eating in darkness much sorrow and sickness and anger heritage Chapter 6 observed evil a common evil a foreigner consuming another man's riches a hundred children a stillborn child mouth soul wise man fool poor man eyes a shadow

4 Chapter 7 a good name precious ointment day of death day of birth house of mourning house of feasting sorrow laughter sad countenance rebuke of the wise song of fools thorns under a pot a bribe end beginning patient in spirit proud in spirit anger (in the bosom of fools) wisdom and inheritance wisdom and money as defense crooked day of prosperity day of adversity just man wicked man ten rulers your servant cursing you wickedness of folly a woman with a heart like snares and nets a woman with hands like fetter schemes Chapter 8 wise man a shining face sternness of face king's commandments oath to God misery increasing greatly wicked buried a sentence NOT executed speedily a shadow just men wicked men insomnia (no sleep day or night)
