3 Attention Parents! We're glad your child is coming to Seekers! Our Seekers leaders encourage a positive, loving atmosphere in which spiritual learning can occur. You can play a very important role in your child's progress through each badge as some projects will require your participation. There are a couple of things to note. Your child will need you to sign at the end of some of the sections. Please sign these sections when your child has completed them. Also, all scripture in these badge materials are quoted from the New International Version. We hope your child has a great year learning in Seekers! Seekers Staff

'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'" Luke 10:30, There are lots of times we can help others, and it is important to know how. Everyone can be prepared to give help when it is needed. Not only can you help others, but you can help yourself.

5 Accidents do happen no matter how hard we try to prevent them. But when they do, we are to remain calm, cool, and call someone, if needed. Write the definition of first aid: Why is it important to know first aid? Suppose you and a friend are playing catch with a baseball. Your friend misjudges the ball's position and it hits him in the face. He ends up with a bloody nose. What is the first aid for a bloody nose?

10 Some common kinds of wounds are minor cuts, scratches, and splinters. It is important to know the first aid treatment to prevent infection. Write the first aid treatment for the wounds listed. Cuts and scratches: Puncture wound caused by a nail: Splinter penetrating the skin:

11 There are some plants that we need to approach carefully. They can cause you to itch and become very miserable! They are poison ivy, poison oak, and nettles. Draw a picture of the ones you have in your area.

12 Write the proper first aid treatment for the plants you have drawn.

13 Make a telephone card for emergency calls for your home, on which are listed telephone numbers for the fallowing: a. Your family physician b. Poison control c. Local hospital d. Ask-a-Nurse e. Your pastor f. 911 Post the card for all members of the family to use.

14 Make and equip a simple first aid kit for your family's home, car, or personal use. Ask your parents for permission to use items in your home. List the items you included in your first aid kit: _ Food poisoning is very dangerous and can cause someone to become very ill, possibly even die. Leaving certain foods out at room temperature is one way food can become contaminated. Name some others: _
