2 Nehemiah 2:10 10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.

3 Nehemiah 2:19 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. What is this you are doing? they asked. Are you rebelling against the king?

4 Nehemiah 2:20 20 I answered them by saying, The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.

5 Our true beliefs inform our behavior big time!

6 Allowing God to lead you into success is the best way to succeed.

8 Nehemiah 4:1-3 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble burned as they are? 3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, What they are building even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!

9 Nehemiah 4:4-5 4 Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders. 6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.

10 Nehemiah 4 19 Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. 20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!

11 Nehemiah 6 5 Then, the fifth time, Sanballat sent his aide to me with the same message, and in his hand was an unsealed letter 6 in which was written: It is reported among the nations and Geshem says it is true that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and therefore you are building the wall. Moreover, according to these reports you are about to become their king 7 and have even appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem: There is a king in Judah! Now this report will get back to the king; so come, let us meet together.

12 Nehemiah 6:8-9 8 I sent him this reply: Nothing like what you are saying is happening; you are just making it up out of your head. 9 They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed. But I prayed, Now strengthen my hands.

13 Application Even though we are to take our stand against opposition, we are to love those who oppose us.

14 Matthew 5: You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor [ and hate your enemy. 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

16 Application Even though we are to take our stand against opposition, we are to love those who oppose us. No opposition in heaven.

17 Romans 8: What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

18 3- The greater the vision to accomplish things for God, the greater the opposition may become!

19 3- The greater the vision to accomplish things for God, the greater the opposition may become! 3a - Those who oppose a good work for God eventually, will lose their grip because God is greater!
