1 HoLy BLossoM TEMPLE Family Programming Fall/Winter Making Jewish Memories to Last a Lifetime
2 Ongoing Programs and Learning Experiences: For our Children at Every Stage of Life Baby-Namings During our Shabbat or weekday services baby boys and girls are joyfully welcomed into the congregation and into the covenant between God and the Jewish People. In this way each baby knows he/she belongs not only to a loving family, but also to the Jewish People. A hand-knit sweater comes as a gift from the Temple Sisterhood. Another communal welcome comes as part of our Shavuot celebration, Wednesday, May 15, 10:00 a.m., when all new babies born into the congregation are invited to the bima with parents and grandparents for another Shehechiyanu. Little Blossoms For children 3 years and under, accompanied by a parent, grandparent or caregiver. Join Mark Weinstock for music, movement, group participation and fun! The program will incorporate pre-shabbat songs and every family gets its own Challah to take home for the Shabbat table. Each term offers four time slots to choose from: Friday, September 7 9:00 a.m. for ages 1-3 years, 10:00 a.m. for ages 0-3 years, 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. for age 0-12 months. The energy of a Jewish teen social scene fills the hallways as students take one core class and one of a number of electives offered on a range of relevant and interesting topics. Bar/Bat Mitzvah Boys and girls celebrate becoming Bar and Bat Mitzvah at age thirteen by reading Torah as a capable representative of the congregation on a Shabbat or weekday morning. One on one learning with a tutor, our rabbis, and cantors provide our students with the skills to chant the Torah and Haftarah portions, but also to study sacred text in depth, and fulfill a comprehensive program of hands-on mitzvot. At least four consecutive years of participation in Holy Blossom s Religious School or a full-time Jewish Day School prepares our students for this Jewish milestone.
