2 2. The period known as the Assyrian Empire began in the year and continued until the fall of Nineveh in the year. The first king of this period, often regarded as the true founder of the Empire, was. Early in his reign, this king focused on the to the east, and the Chaldaean tribes in southern. Once these matters were cared for, this king began his campaign through, receiving submission from many of its princes, including of Damascus and of Israel.
