Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon. He took over as king after his father died and continued to conquer new lands. He also conquered the land of Judah, which was the land of God s people. This is why Daniel was taken into captivity and made to serve in the king s palace. The name Nebuchadnezzar means O god Nabu, protect my son because the people of Babylon believed in many different gods, including Nebuchadnezzar. King Nebuchadnezzar was also responsible for building one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the hanging gardens of Babylon. He was a very angry, ruthless ruler who eventually went crazy as a punishment for all the sins he committed. Eventually, he was replaced by a king named Cyrus when the Persian Empire conquered the Babylonians.

Bible Quiz True or False Write the letter T if the statement is true or the letter F if the statement is false. 1. The king built an idol. 2. The flames killed the men who put Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the furnace. 5. Even though they were not burnt, the men still smelled like fire. Net Check: Babylon Babylon was a very important city in the ancient world. Located in the heart of modern-day Iraq, it was a very wealthy nation. It was also a place of learning and literature. The Babylonian empire spread out as far as modern-day parts of Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and all of Israel. Daniel was brought to Babylon to serve under the king soon after God allowed His people to be in captivity, when he was only fifteen. The Babylonian empire did not believe that there was one god to worship, but many gods for all different people. Eventually, the Babylonians were taken over by the Persian Empire, but Babylon still remained one of the largest and most important cities of the ancient world.

Lesson: 3 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 14. Bible Quiz Fill in the Blank Fill in the correct answers. 1. was praying to the Lord. 2. Daniel was asking God to his people. 3. Daniel wore while mourning for his people. 4. The people were in captivity because of their. 5. Prayer is. Net Check: Daniel While the Bible doesn t say a lot about Daniel s background, we know that he was a very impressive young man. Once the Babylonians had taken over the Israelites, the king chose certain people to come serve him in his palace. The Bible says that these men were very physically fit, wise, and attractive. The book of Daniel tells us of the amazing journey that God brought him through as a result of being kept in captivity. Even when Daniel was an old man, God worked to save Daniel s life from the lions. Daniel always believed in God and relied on Him to take care of him and His people. Because Daniel wrote the book of Daniel, we don t get to learn about how he died. However, we do know that he never lost his faith and always trusted God.

Lesson: 4 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 18. Bible Quiz Short Answer Questions Answer the following questions: 1. When was the last time you prayed like Daniel? 2. Why was Daniel so upset that his people were in captivity? 3. What is something that you need to be praying for? 4. Why do you think it is important to bring our concerns to the Lord in prayer? 5. What are some distractions in your life that keep you from praying? Net Check: Angels Angels aren t exactly like how we usually see them portrayed in movies and pictures. They are very real, living creations of God who continuously help carry out His orders to protect and defend us, and bring glory to Him. They also bring messages, like our story in Daniel. Angels brought many other important messages, too, like announcing Jesus birth. They were given to us by God to protect us. They are not like us because they are not created in the image of God like we are. Angels are all throughout the Bible. They are mentioned in thirty-four different books from the first book in the Bible (Genesis) to the last book (Revelation). The Bible tells us that we have angels watching over us too! You can read about this in Psalm 91:11 and Hebrews 1:14.

Lesson: 5 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 22. Bible Quiz Crossword Puzzle Fill in the correct answer. Across 1. Faith without works is. 3. We should others. 5. The best example for how to live is. Down 2. had great faith. 4. We should out our faith. Net Check: Faith We know that faith means to believe in something without seeing it. But for a Christian it means a lot more. We believe in Jesus salvation because of what He has done for us on the cross. Our faith in believing in salvation through Jesus isn t a blind faith like any other religion. We know that Jesus came and lived a perfect life. We have proof that Jesus was the Son of God because of His miracles, and the knowledge and grace that He gave to us while He was here on earth. Because we have faith that our sins are forgiven through Jesus, we should share that with others to help them see that our faith is grounded in evidence. Our hope and belief for eternal life is through Jesus.

Lesson: 6 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 26. Bible Quiz True or False Write the letter T if the statement is true or the letter F if the statement is false. 1. Our words don t really mean anything. 2. Cursing does not represent God. 3. As long as we say we are kidding, we can say anything that we want. 4. Our words can change the world. 5. Rumors can spread quickly. Net Check: Christian Language In today s world, it is hard to keep ourselves away from bad language. Sometimes, we can t help what we hear, but we can always help what we say. As a Christian, it is important to remember that everything we do should be done to represent God. As people who represent God, our words and language should also represent Him. If we curse or say mean things to others, and they know we are Christians, they will probably not think that Christians are different from anyone else. Ephesians 4:29 tells us that we should not let any unwholesome or bad words come out of our mouth. As Christians, our purpose on earth is greater than just living and dying. Everything we do should represent God, and cleaning up our language is a great place to start!

Her friends sang songs to God. d. Jesus came and touched her. 5. What was Tabitha s name in Greek? a. Deborah b. Deana c. Dorcas d. Deloris Net Check: Service In the Bible, being a follower of God means that we are also supposed to love others and help those in need. Matthew 12:31 tells us that we should love our neighbor as ourselves, which means that we should love others as much as we love ourselves. By doing this, we are showing others God s love through our actions. Giving our time by doing service is a great way to show God s love toward others. Service can be many different things, including giving a meal to someone in the hospital or raking leaves for an elderly person. When we do service for others, we should not expect anything in return. We should simply tell them that God loves them and that is why you are helping them. Ask a parent or teacher to help you find ways that you can get involved and do service in your church or community.

Lesson: 8 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 34. Bible Quiz Fill in the Blank Fill in the correct answers. 1. We should fight the good fight of. 2. wrote the book of 1 Timothy. 3. Paul said that we shouldn t trust in the of this world. 4. We should demonstrate the of Jesus to others. 5. Understanding God s love for us causes us to be with our blessings. Net Check: Eternal Life The phrase eternal life may be one that you have heard a lot around church. If you don t understand what it means, it is life after death forever in heaven. As Christians, eternal life is the hope that we have through salvation from our sins in Jesus. Before Jesus died on the cross for our sins, there were complicated sacrifices that had to be made in order for someone to receive forgiveness from God. But then, Jesus was the final Sacrifice for our sins. All we have to do is believe that we are sinners, that we need a Savior, tell Jesus that we need Him to save us from our sins because there is no other way, and turn away from our sinful lifestyle and live for Him. Putting our life and faith in Jesus results in us having eternal life in heaven, worshiping Jesus for forever!

Lesson: 9 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 38. Bible Quiz Short Answer Questions Answer the following questions: 1. Why is it important for you to trust God s plan for your life? 2. What are some things that you can do to strengthen your faith? 3. Why do you think God tested Abraham? 4. God provided a ram for Abraham. What are some ways that God has provided for you? 5. Do you believe that God will continue to provide for you even when things get hard? Net Check: Isaac When Abraham was an old man, God promised that He would give Abraham a son and a big family. God gave Abraham and Sarah a son whom they named Isaac. He grew up to be a strong man of God. He married a woman named Rebekah. After a while, God gave Isaac and Rebekah twin boys named Jacob and Esau. Abraham left everything that he owned to Isaac after he died, and Isaac was quite wealthy. As Isaac grew old, his son Jacob tricked him into giving him the birthright, even though he was born after his brother. The oldest son was always supposed to inherit the birthright. From Isaac s family came many descendants that eventually led to the birth of Jesus. Even though there was much evil done in the line of Abraham, God still kept His promise of delivering the Messiah through the line of Abraham.

Lesson: 10 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 42. Bible Quiz Crossword Puzzle Fill in the correct answer. Across 4. Solomon's father. 5. The one whom God allowed to build the temple. Down 1. What the Lord kept to David. 2. The place where the temple was built. 3. What Solomon was doing in this passage. Net Check: Solomon King David was a follower of God and was blessed by God with a powerful kingdom. King David had a son named Solomon who was the heir to the throne. When Solomon took over as king, he asked God to grant him wisdom to rule the people. God blessed Solomon with this wisdom, and he was the richest and greatest ruler Israel ever had. But Solomon eventually disobeyed God and married women God had forbidden. They worshiped false gods, and Solomon even built temples to those false gods. When Solomon was old, he regretted the years that he had lived away from God. He later wrote the book of Ecclesiastes. In that book, Solomon talked about how the things of this world apart from God are meaningless and fleeting. Solomon restored his relationship with God before he died. He ruled over Israel for forty years.

Lesson: 11 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 46. Bible Quiz Multiple Choice Circle the correct answer. 1. What came down from heaven when Solomon finished praying? a. Fire b. Rain c. Lightening d. Locusts 2. What did the people of Israel do when they saw God s power? a. Cried b. Danced c. Laughed d. Bowed 3. How many sacrifices in total did Solomon himself offer? a. Twenty-two thousand b. 142,000 c. 120,000 d. Forty thousand 4. What kind of instruments did the priests play? a. Flutes b. Trumpets c. Drums d. Harps 5. How many days did the festival last? a. Four b. Twenty c. Seven d. Fourteen Net Check: The Temple When God led the people out of Israel, He commanded the people to build a place of worship for Him. This place was to be a special place that could be moved around because the people were wandering in the desert, so it had to go with them. This was the first temple, and it was called the Tabernacle. The temple was a place where God s presence stayed, and it always had the Ark of the Covenant in it, which is what held the Ten Commandments. Eventually, God allowed Solomon to build a temple that was an actual building. It was magnificent in every possible way. Eventually, the temple was destroyed by enemies of Israel. But for many years, people worshiped and made sacrifices to God in the temple.

Lesson: 12 The quiz and NET Check are based on topics found in Today s Lesson Story on page 50. Bible Quiz True or False Write the letter T if the statement is true or the letter F if the statement is false. 1. The Lord appeared to Solomon during the day while he was awake. 2. The Lord would bless the people as long as they would seek Him. 3. If Solomon turned away from God, there wouldn t be any punishment. 4. As long as Solomon followed God, his family would always rule Israel. 5. The people were allowed to have other gods. Net Check: Obedience The Israelite people always had issues with obeying God s commands for long periods of time. They went through a cycle of obeying God, turning against Him, being punished, repenting, and then turning back to Him. This is not something that God ever wanted to happen. The Israelites wanted to be like the rest of the world and follow false gods because it was easier than following the one true God. We can often be the same way. Though we may not go out and find other gods to worship, we can still experience times of disobedience and living in sin. Living according to God s standards can be hard, but in order to please God and have a good relationship with Him, we should always follow His rules, commands, and plans for our lives.
