3 ISRAEL TRIP PROGRAM 12 DAYS OF SIGHTSEEING Arrival Day Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. Reception by the the Guide/Driver and transfer to Tel Aviv hotel. Sightseeing in Tel Aviv and Jaffa (depends on the arrival time if not next day). Hotel Tel Aviv Day 1 Visit Old Jaffa with its ancient port, where Hiram floated cedar wood for Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem as well as the traditional house of Simon the Tanner where Peter had a vision which gave him the freedom to go to the gentiles. See the monument remembering Jonas. Continue along the coastal highway to visit Ceasarea Maritima. See the remains of the once magnificent port built by Herod the Great as well as the ancient theatre and the hippodrome. See the site where Paul appeared before Festus and King Agrippa before he was sent to Rome and just enjoy the Mediterranean Sea Drive to the Muhraka, on Mount Carmel. On the summit of the mountain range you will see the site where Elijah challenged the prophets of Ba'al. 4 Day 2 ISRAEL 2017 Start the day at Meggido, known also as Armageddon, learn about its strategic importance. See the impressive remains of this "chariot city" from the the time of King Solomon, as well as the great water system, built by King Ahab. View Nazareth from one of its view points. Visit Mary s Well - the only source of water in ancient Nazareth. Visit Nazareth Village, based on solid New Testament scholarship and the most up-to-date archaeology, Nazareth Village brings to life a farm and Galilean village, recreating Nazareth as it was 2,000 years ago. Drive via Kana (Wedding Church). If time allows visit Sephoris, to get a glimpse at a Hellenistic town, where it is logically assumed that young Jesus spent some time. Drive to Tiberias on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Hotel Tiberias Day 3 Spend the whole day on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Start the day on Mount Beatitude to recall the Sermon on the Mount. Go down by foot (optional) to the shore enjoying the view and recalling some of Jesus' most famous parables, which were probably inspired by this surrounding. Visit Tabgha, the site of the multiplication of bread and fish. Continue to Capernaum to see the town, Jesus chose as his home. Visit the recently excavated site of Magdala where a 1st Century synagogue was discovered. Ride on a boat resembling those of ancient times. If time allows visit Kursi, on the other side of the lake to see the place where Jesus healed the men possessed by demons. Hotel Tiberias

5 Day 4 Drive to (or just around it) Tel Hazor, to see the the largest ancient tel in Israel, located in the Upper Galilee, north of the Sea of Galilee, on the high ground overlooking what used to be Lake Merom. This city, mentioned in the Bible as the strongest among the Canaanites cities, was conquered by Joshuah. The fire remains can still be seen today. Continue to the beautiful Dan Nature Reserve to see one of the Jordan most important water source as well as the remains of the Israelite Temple and impressive Canaanite Gate, known as Abraham's Gate. Continue to Banyas (Caesarea Philippi), another beautiful nature reserve, and understand why Jesus chose this site to ask Peter "who do men say I am?" If time allows drive to the Golan Heights and see the way to Damascus. Hotel Tiberias Day 5 Start the day by driving to Beth Shean (Scythopolis). Climb the tel where the corpses of King Saul and his sons were hung by the Philistines after being slain on Mount Gilboa. Recall the tragic story and view the surroundings. Visit the excavations from the Roman Byzantine Periods (Roman Theater, streets, temples and much more) to see one of the Decapolis. See the source Ein Harod where Gideon selected his 300 men. If time allows See the ancient synagogue of Beit Alfa with its beautiful mosaic. Continue south, through the Jordan rift valley to the traditional Baptism Site at Qasr el Yahud situated near Jericho. 6 DAY 6 Drive to Qumran, visit the site of the Essene community and view the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. Continue to the Ein Gedi desert oasis with David s Waterfalls and recall the story of David trying to hide out from King Saul. Drive to the Massada Fortress: Ascend and descend by cable car walking tour around the Fortress and learn why the site became a symbol of Jewish heroism. Continue to the shore of the Dead Sea. Experience floating on the Dead Sea. Drive via the Arava Desert to Eilat on the shores of Red Sea. Late arrival at hotel. Hotel Eilat DAY 7 Admire the Red Sea. Optional visit of the Underwater-Observatorium and Aquarium in Eilat. Drive to the Timna National Park with the Solomon's Pillars. 7 DAY 8 Drive to Mitzpe Ramon, 1035 m above sea level, situated on the Edge of "Machtesh Ramon". Visit Avdath, the ancient Nabatean town, originally one of the spice road stations. Continue to Ein Avdat, another beautiful desert oasis and one of the tributaries of Zin Wadi. The Zin Desert is mentioned as one of the areas where the Children of Israel spent time during the 40 years wandering in the desert. Continue to Sde Boker, burial Site and former home of David Ben Gurion for a great view at the Zin Wadi. Ride a camel and learn about Beduin hospitality, lifestyle and its similarities with the life of the Patriarchs.. Hotel near Arad DAY 9 Visit Abraham's well, at Beer Sheva, today the modern capital of the Negev, where Abraham made a peace vow with King Abimelech. Visit Tel Beer Sheva (if there is time visit tel Arad). Drive to Jerusalem passing Lachish, through the Elah valley to visit one of the exciting recent findings - the Davidic town of Shaarayim (Hirbet Quayfah). Stop at Tel Beit Shemesh to understand where the Ark of the Covenant was given back to Israel and talk about Samson and his special relations with the Philistines.. Hotel Jerusalem DAY 10 Visit the Israel Museum to view the Shrine of the Book (Exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls) and a model of Jerusalem from the time of Herod the Great. Pass by Yad Vashem Memorial Site for the Victims of the Holocaust. Visit Neot Kedumim Biblical garden. Drive to Bethlehem, briefly visit the Church of Nativity. View Shepherds Fields. 8 Day 11 Drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Walk down the Mount and see the old Jewish cemetery, then continue to the Garden of Gethsemane. Walk to the Old city. Visit the Pool of Bethesda at the St. Anna Church. Continue through the Via Dolorosa, Lithostrotos, Ecce Homo Arc, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (a brief visit only). Visit and spend some time at the Garden Tomb. At Mount Zion visit the Room of the Last Supper. Walk through the Jewish Quarter. Overnight, Breakfast.
