Tour Cost Does NOT Include: Tips: It is customary to tip in Israel for guides, driver, hotel restaurants and bell boys. Please bring $160 per person in cash to be given to our agent, John Somerville. He will distribute the tips as necessary during our tour of Israel. Lunches: Lunch is not included in the tour cost. For $130 ($10 per day) per person, you can have a pre-designated lunch with the group for the entire tour. The lunch package varies from a box lunch on the bus to a full restaurant lunch depending on our location that day. You may also choose to buy lunch on your own or have no lunch. Some travelers feel the Israeli breakfast buffet is sufficient to carry them through to dinner or bring snacks of their own. Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is highly recommended, but not required. Our agent, John Somerville, recommends contacting Eitan at Traveland at or for a travel insurance quote Registration/Payments: A $500 non-refundable deposit is required along with a copy of your passport to hold your place on the tour. Your passport will not be accepted if it expires within 6 months of the end of the tour. Call for more information or to register. 2 LOM ISRAEL TOUR ITINERARY Thursday, November 5 We depart from St. Louis or Los Angeles airport for our overnight flight to Israel. Friday, November 6 We arrive at Ben Gurion International Airport at 10:15 am. We visit Independence Hall in downtown Tel Aviv where the re-birth of the nation of Israel was declared on the afternoon of the 14th of May, We check-in to our hotel, Dan Panorama Hotel, Tel Aviv, and unwind from the flight on the shore of the Mediterranean. That evening we visit the nearby biblical city of Joppa. It was in Joppa (Jaffa) where Simon Peter had the housetop vision about going to the Gentiles (Acts 10) and Jonah bought a ticket for a boat ride, but ended up in an organic submarine on the way to Nineveh (Jonah 1-4). Saturday, November 7 Following breakfast in Tel Aviv, we will head north along the shores of the Mediterranean to the incredible remains of the ancient city of Caesarea Maritime, a city built by King Herod and which later became the seat of government of the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate. We will visit the extensive excavations of the site including the harbor, the Crusader City, the Amphitheater, the Hippodrome and the Roman aqueduct and read the biblical accounts of events that happened there (Acts 24-26). We then continue to Megiddo, the Armageddon of the Book of the Revelation, which is the site where the armies of the world will gather for the great final battle (PS: The bad guys lose!). Continuing to our hotel in the upper panhandle of Galilee, we spend several nights at the Kibbutz Hotel at HaGosherim. Sunday, November 8 This morning we will visit Kibbutz Nof Ginosar to see the Jesus boat. This archaeological find is believed to be from the first century and was discovered during a drought after having been buried for 2000 years under the sands of the Sea of Galilee. This fishing boat is similar to the vessel described in the Gospels (Matt. 9) which carried Jesus and his disciples. We will then take a take a boat ride (on a slightly newer boat) on the Galilee. Then we will go to a baptismal site on the banks of the River Jordan at Yardenit, for anyone who would desire to be baptized. Next on our schedule is the nearby village of Magdala, which was the home of Mary Magdalene and a very important archaeological find has recently been discovered at this fishing village.

3 This day s touring will be completed at a site reputed to be the Mount of Beatitudes (Matt. 5). We return to our hotel, HaGosherim, for dinner and overnight. Monday, November 9 Today we will start our study of northern Israel with a visit to Tel Dan (Judges 18), the northern most city of ancient Israel and also one of the sources of the Jordan River. Then it is on to the Banias (Caesarea Philippi) (Matt. 16 & Mark 8). In these locations we will see remains and read the scriptures that date to the time of the Old Testament kings as well as to the narratives of Jesus time. Then we will drive to the eastern heights above the Sea of Galilee and ascend the heights of the Golan and visit Mount Bental for an observation point overlooking the borders of Israel, Lebanon and Syria as well as the Road to Damascus incident (Acts 9) and the fateful journey and conversion of Saul, who became better known as the Apostle Paul. We will observe the Sea of Galilee from Miztpe HaShalom on the eastern heights of the famed lake. We return to our hotel, HaGosherim. Tuesday, November 10 Happy 240th Birthday Marines! Following the traditional cake-cutting ceremony Our first stop this morning is at Kfar Kedem located in the hill country of Lower Galilee. Here in a community close to both Cana and Nazareth we will enjoy learning and participating in some hands-on methods of farming and shepherding from the day-to day lifestyles of biblical times. Nearby Nazareth has two interesting areas, the Precipice and the Nazareth Village. Across the valley is Ein Harod, the spring where Gideon chose the 300 warriors who defeated the invading hordes from the East. We will stop at a baptismal site on the banks of the River Jordan (Yardenit), for anyone who would desire to be baptized. Then we will continue down the Jordan Valley toward Jerusalem. Our first view of the City of the Great King will be from Mount Scopus. Wednesday, November 11 This morning we will visit the excavations of the City of David and the Pool of Siloam. Leaving Jerusalem and going south past Bethlehem to Efrat, where we will learn and participate at Caliber 3, a training site for anti-terrorism, Israeli Defense Force (IDF) instructors will reveal the techniques used so successfully to combat terrorism threats. If time permits, we will stop at the Herodium, a fortress with palatial royal quarters, a swimming pool and colonnade, built by Herod the Great. It also became his recently discovered gravesite.

4 Thursday, November 12 Today we will go west toward the Mediterranean coast stopping along the way for some interesting and unforgettable sites as we go to the Valley of Elah where David defeated Goliath, the Philistine giant. Then we will stop at Save A Child s Heart in Holon where a modern fulfillment of Genesis 12:3 is taking place. Our next site will be a visit to the Ayalon Institute which was an underground bullet factory hidden from the enemy under a bakery on a kibbutz. Friday, November 13 This morning we will begin at the steps going up to the Temple Mount near the Hulda Gate, the Western Wall, Caiphas House and other sites in the City before we return to the Jewish Quarter through the Zion Gate for the start of Shabbat at the Western Wall Plaza. Saturday, November 14 Today s learning experience will have us leaving Jerusalem and going through an area called Carmel (1 Samuel 25) on our way to the Negev desert city of Arad. There we will experience the Fountain of Tears, hoping to find the remarkable artist and see his morethan-remarkable work. Continuing on to Masada, we will see the mountain fortress which was the scene of the heroic stand of the Jewish zealots against the legions of Rome. After the mountain top experience of Masada, we will travel northward along the western shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on the face of Earth. We will see Qumran, the ancient settlement nearest to the hiding place of the Dead Sea Scrolls (in jars) in the nearby caves - discovered in the late-1940s. We will visit Ein Gedi, a desert oasis with a waterfall and caves. The Bible records that 3000 years ago David hid from King Saul at Ein Gedi (1 Sam 24). Sunday, November 15 Visit with Moshe Kempinski at our hotel. We will have a devotional on the side of the Mount of Olives this Sunday morning before we really dig Jerusalem at the Tzurim Valley, where we will not only learn about the science of archaeology from an expert, but also participate in sifting the finds from the area of the Temple Mount.

5 Then we will enter the Jewish Quarter of the Old City and explore the Pool of Bethesda (John 5) and have time for the SHORASHIM and the CARDO for exploring and shopping in the Old City. Monday, November 16 Our touring day starts at the Garden Tomb (Gordon s Golgotha) in Jerusalem, believed to contain an empty tomb from the time of Jesus. Then into the newer city for a heartwarming stop at a workshop for some of Israel s most valuable assets, Yad L Kashish. From there we will proceed to Yad VaShem, a memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Next we will see the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Israel Museum. Farewell to Jerusalem dinner at Dan Jerusalem Hotel this last evening of our tour. Tuesday, November 17 We have an early check-out from our hotel and drive to Ben Gurion International Airport for our morning flight back to the US.
