5 Application Think for a bit about Solomon s great beginning as Israel s king, when he asked God for wisdom and prayed wonderful, God-honoring prayers, and the end of his reign when God removed the kingdom from his heirs. Reread 1 Kings 11 and meditate on this explanation for how someone who started out so well ended so disastrously. Then list a few ways you can protect yourself from this human tendency to drift toward the dark side of life. How do you or could you build health into your relationship with the God who loves you and wants you to participate in a healthy, growing relationship with Himself?
