1 stressed HOW TO COPE WITH STRESS THROUGH PRAYER Some girls cope with stress by shopping. What do YOU do?! MBA Saturday Morning Service Remember... We will be disposing of these service packets in a special manner due to writing G!d s name. You are welcome to keep the entire service packet, but it may also be a good idea to only take the front and back cover if you don t want to keep the whole prayer packet. Thanks! Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering. -Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A.A. Milne

Miss Independent - Kelly Clarkson Miss independent Miss self-sufficient Miss keep your distance, mmmm Miss unafraid Miss out of my way Miss don t let a man interfere, no Miss on her own Miss almost grown Miss never let a man help her off her throne Chorus: What is this feeling taking over? It took some time for her to see How beautiful love could truly be No more talk of why can t that be me I m so glad I ve finally seen Chorus Miss independent
27 stress MBA SHABBAT SERVICES INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2008 WHAT IS STRESS? Stress is a psychological and physiological response to events that upset our personal balance in some way. We all know what our response to stress feels like: heart pounding in the chest, muscles tensing up, breath coming faster, every sense on red alert. Whether we re stressed over a looming deadline, an argument with a friend, or simply being late to class, the warning bells ring. If you have a lot of responsibilities and worries, you may be running on stress a good portion of the time. But the problem with the stress response is that the more it s activated, the harder it is to shut off. Instead of leveling off once the crisis has passed, your stress hormones, heart rate, and blood pressure remain elevated. Prolonged exposure to stress increases your risk of everything from heart disease, obesity, and infection to anxiety, depression, and memory problems. Because of the widespread damage stress can cause, it s essential to learn how to deal with stress in a more positive way and reduce its impact on your daily life. From HelpGuide.org WARNING SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS - Cognitive Symptoms: memory problems, indecisiveness, poor judgement, inability to concentrate, seeing only the negative - Emotional Symptoms: moodiness, restlessness, short temper, inability to relax, feeling overwhelmed, depression or general unhappiness - Physical Symptoms: headaches or backaches, muscle tension, nausea, dizziness, chest pain, skin breakouts - Behavioral Symptoms: eating more or less, sleeping too much or too little, isolating yourself from others, procrastination, teeth grinding, overdoing activities, picking fights with others CAUSES OF STRESS - Major Life Changes: graduating from high school, changing jobs, moving away, death of a friend or family member - Internal Causes: uncertainty and worry, pessimistic attitude, self-criticism, perfectionism, low self-esteem, lack of assertiveness - Daily Hassles and Demands: - Environmental Stressors: pollution, noise, etc. - Family and Relationship Stressors: problems with family members, friends, or boyfriends - School Stressors: overload of work, extracurriculars, etc. - Social Stressors: lack of social support Effects of STRESS - Migranes - Heartburn - High Blood Pressure - Heart Disease - Diabetes - Asthma - PMS - Obesity - Skin Problems - Anxiety/Depression - Eating Disorders - Substance Abuse See back for ways to deal with stress!
