Bahá'u'lláh ordained this festival 'Most Great Festival' Lailat al Bara h (Night of Forgiveness) takes place 2 weeks before Ramadan. Muslims seek forgiveness for sins and believe that on this night their destiny is fixed for the year ahead. EU designated day to raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights Pagan fire festival marking the beginning of the harvest season. 8 Feast of the Assumption Christian Feast day marking the day God assumed the Virgin Mary into heaven Sept Paryushan Jainism festival 8/9 days of intensive fasting, repentance and pujas, signifying a time of reflection and repentance. 24 Janmashtami Hindu festival celebrating birth of Sri Krishna September World Alzheimers Month Awareness raising month focusing on work across the world to fight dementia. Incorporates World Alzheimers Day on st September. 2 Ganesh Chaturthi Hindu celebration of the birthday of Lord Ganesh (Ganesh Chaturthi). Ganesh is depicted with an elephant's head on a human body 9 National Dementia Carers Day Raising awareness of and supporting the role of informal dementia carers. 10 Ashura Ashura has been a day of fasting for Sunni Muslims since the days of the early Muslim community. Shi'a Muslims in particular use the day to commemorate the martyrdom of Hussein, a grandson of the Prophet. 10 Mururram (Al-Hijira) Al-Hijra, the Islamic New Year, is the first day of the month of Muharram. It's celebrated less than the two major festivals of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. - International Week of the Deaf Awareness raising week promoting the rights of deaf people and highlighting specific human rights topics. World Alzheimers Day Awareness raising day to focus on the work going on all over the world to fight dementia.
