6 GREETINGS FROM THAILAND! Pastor Bill recently reminded us that Berean is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year how fast the time has gone! (in seeing the slide tribute on February 17th, we had a hard time recognizing that young couple with the dark hair at the groundbreaking of our first building!) We feel humbled and honored to have served Berean for 35 years. The love and support of you as a congregation was unparalleled...we were truly blessed. We have many fond memories of our time serving Jesus and His Kingdom with you. We continue to pray for Berean as you go through this transition time. We believe the best is yet to come, due to the Lord's grace and your faithfulness. We send our heartfelt "congratulations." A few requirements: 1. Must be a Christian based camp. 2. Camp must be approved by Pastor Spencer. 3. Camps must be a sleep there type camp not day camps. (Family camps included). 4. This is solely for children 1 st -5 th grade whose family considers Berean their home church. (See Bankbook for additional guidelines) Bankbooks are available downstairs at the table near the couch. 9 CONNECT GROUP QUESTIONS SUNDAY, MARCH 10, What is the stated purpose of Proverbs? Proverbs 1: What does the fear of the Lord look like today? Proverbs 1:7; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; Isaiah 12; Isaiah 6:1; Revelation 4: Pastor Mike said we all have been in all three categories at some time. What do you think? Proverbs 1:22 4. Notice how the three build and morph into the next. How do you think that happens? Proverbs 1:23-33 Hebrews 3: What is God s preemptive plan to help us not develop hard hearts? Hebrews 3:13 Remember the admonitions and instruction concerning the heart. Proverbs 4:23; Matthew 15:19; Jeremiah 17:9 6. Dealing with sin as a believer is always the same regardless of the category. The Biblical process begins with recognition of an offense made. This means that guilt can have a very positive role to play in our lives how is this so? Psalm 139:23-24; 1 John 1:8-10 Next we are to confess our sin. Describe this process. (Look up confess in a dictionary.) 1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13 Repentance then flows out of recognition and confession. Describe Biblical repentance. (Look up repentance in a dictionary.) 2 Corinthians 7:8-11; Acts 26:20 After dealing with human to human offenses comes restitution. (Christ dealt with our sin on the cross!!!) Proverbs 14:9 How might this look in real contemporary life? What does God desire? Psalm 51:16-17; 1 Samuel 15:22 7. When someone refuses to humbly address their sin what happens? Romans 1: ; 1 Corinthians 11: Who in your life have you given permission to give you honest input relative to sin? 9. Think about times when you have demonstrated characteristics of all three categories? Anyone willing to share?

10 Following God s Design For Our Relationships ALL SINNERS ARE NOT THE SAME Part 3 of 7 March 10, 2019 Proverbs 1:1-7 & Simple: The simple are normal sinners who are teachable and respond to instruction, warning, rebuke, and discipline. They tend to fail to see and respond to possible consequences. Proverbs 22:3 The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it. They tend to be gullible and naive. Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps. They lack good judgement. Proverbs 9:4 Whoever is simple, let him turn in here! To him who lacks sense she says, They are teachable. Proverbs 19:25 Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge. Proverbs 1:4 to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the youth 2. Fool: The fool is someone who is not teachable. They do not respond positively to normal corrective or instructive efforts. They hate and reject knowledge and correction. Proverbs 1:22c and fools hate knowledge? Proverbs 5:12 and you say, How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof! They like to share their opinion. Proverbs 18:2 A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion. Proverbs 20:3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling. They are hot headed. Proverbs 14:16 One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless. Proverbs 12:16 The vexation of a fool is known at once, but the prudent ignores an insult. Proverbs 29:11 A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back. They trust themselves and their own judgement. Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice. Proverbs 28:26 Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. Proverbs 1:32b and the complacency of fools will destroy them: 3. Mockers: The mocker is an evil person who seeks to harm/use you and resists any and all efforts to establish a healthy relationship. They are proud and arrogant. Proverbs 21:24 Scoffer is the name of the arrogant, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.

11 They are full of hatred. Proverbs 29:8 Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath. They not only reject efforts to correct they reject the one attempting to do so. Proverbs 9:7-8 Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Proverbs 13:1 A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. Proverbs 15:12 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly. They cause strife. Proverbs 22:10 Drive out a scoffer, and strife will go out, and quarreling and abuse will cease. HOW TO WISELY RELATE TO: A Simple Sinner - Instruct and correct in reasonable, consistent, appropriate, and respectful ways. Proverbs 9: 9-10 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the L is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 17:10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool. Proverbs 20:5 The purpose in a man's heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. A Fool- STOP TALKING!! Expose the pattern and establish a different paradigm. Proverbs 23:9 Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words. Proverbs 26:4-5 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes. Proverbs 27:22 Crush a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his folly will not depart from him. A Mocker- Separate from them and protect yourself! Proverbs 9:7-8 Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.
