6 Adam, Eve, Jinn, Iblish and Human Q [2:31] He taught Adam all the names then presented them to the angels, saying, "Give me the names of these, if you are right." If you re a follower of any other religion than Islam then chances are you re not familiar with the Jinn an entity made of fire in Quran. Other entities, such as, Adam, Iblish and Eve are same across all Abrahamic religions. With a careful analysis, they are also in line with other non-abrahamic religions. You may have heard them but may not have a clear understanding and their alignment with yours. Existing wisdom in scriptural paradigm portrays these entities as separate and were engaged in events happened long before our birth current generations and the earlier. Many scholars have used their stories as no entanglement with us, yet, somehow, we are the recipients of their actions. I don t about you, but it s quite unreasonable that someone else s action can cause my outcome, hell and paradise, and the creator of 157 billion light years is behind it. 6.1 Adam and Eve Before we get into the detail of what these events really are, let s explore the story of Adam and Eve. As you are already aware per heresy, this story of Adam and Eve are thousands of years old and per biblical scholars, it happened around six thousand years back when God put Adam and Eve on earth from heaven or paradise as they tested the tree as ordered by the serpent. To add a bit detail to that, Adam and Eve were the first humans on earth; God placed them in gardens of Eden and advised them to eat from the forbidden tree. Serpent tricked Eve first, Eve then convinced Adam to share the fruit from the tree thus made God angry. As they disobeyed God, God became unhappy and sent both of them to earth. As descendants of them, we are put to the test for their mistakes and sins. Eve, the woman, gets blamed for Adam s and our misery. In my opinion, the story and realization of Adam and Eve is the end which confirms the beginning through reflection it s the other way! 1

Adam, Eve, Serpent, forbidden fruit and the tree As we all know, these derivations of time dependent events and occurrences are in sharp contrast with science due to gradual evolution of our ecosystem and life surrounding this planet. Fossils from around the world proved the existence of humans fifty thousands year back or more and the tree, fruit or the serpent of such descriptions are yet to be found. To make these events more questionable, these Abrahamic entities aren t present in Sanatan Dharma scriptures or any others. So, a literal translation prevents the alignment of the scriptures originated in different regions written in different languages thus giving raise to different and contradicting thought process, ideas and philosophies. There have been a lot of studies to decipher the events from different religious quarters and all of us, depending on the religion we subscribe to, have heard the story in the same fashion or other. Some have tried to examine the story from a metaphorical perspective without answering the age long questions, such as; did God put Adam and Eve on earth from paradise while ignoring the evolution?, was Eve, the woman, is the sole cause for Adam s fall?, are women are the main reason for men s wrong doing?, is Gardens of Eden or Paradise somewhere else in Heaven or up there?, why does pictures of Adam and Eve show belly button indicating their birth are similar to us contradicting the first man and woman story?, and why are we being punished for their sins? Does the explanation of literal story add up conforming science and the vast ecosystem? Can you visualize the events with the enormity of the creation as derived by religious scholars? If the answer is no, shall we analyze the stories bit differently and see if that make sense? Let s start with Genesis, followed by Quran and Mahabharata. Be patient, I will present a lot of verses followed by my opinion on those. Remember, scriptures are the 2

awakening of the consciousness in the manner the creation happened, and description of our actions with certainty, and cause of our current psychophysiology - how we end up where we are right now Bible s Adam Genesis 1:1-5 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness covered the surface of the watery depths, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day, and He called the darkness night. Evening came and then morning: the first day. Genesis 1:26 Then God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. In the above verses, Now is the key word. This applies to anyone reading bible at any time thus making it timeless. It s the reflection and realization of one s action and the environment in which we function. The light is the enlightenment that enables him, or anyone for that matter, to see things clearly through maze, to resurrect and the beginning of creation. Six days in the subsequent verses is the realization of awesome marvels that surrounds us before that the earth was formless and void. Creation of man in God s image is the recognition of owns superiority and identifying SELF as God beside the creator. On the seventh day, end of resurrection, creator (El) rested as creation was completed in the eyes of SELF and made the day sacred. Genesis This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens. Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated into four headwaters. The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the entire land of Cush. The name of the third river is the Chidekel; it runs along the east side of Ashur. And the fourth river is the Phirat. Genesis 2:4-10 address the creation of heavens, earth and creation of Adam before the enlightenment as seen during enlightenment or resurrection. God created 3

Adam from dust; breathed life and the man become a living. There is a tree of life, which is the consciousness, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The river in Eden separated into four rivers; Pishon (suffering) waters Havilah (circle), Gihon (Gushing) watering Kush (black), Chidekel (rapid/sudden) waters Ashur (warlike) and Phirat (fruitfulness). These four rivers are our psychophysical orientation where sufferings never end; life is dark and warlike for an end of fruitfulness if understood. Genesis The Lord God said, It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him. Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. Genesis 2:18-22 talks about creation of Eve from Adam while he was asleep while no other animal can be his mate. It s allegorical description of our attachment which we think make our life and identity. It s not that God didn t know who would be Adam s wife rather allegorical description of our unconscious state in awakened state. Eve means air or flow. Adam s sleep is our unconscious state when we go around finding our mates as God that would make me complete. Once awakened and realized, it s the breath or flow understood as our true companion which originates from our lung located underneath the rib. Genesis Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the garden? The woman said to the serpent, We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die. You will not certainly die, the serpent said to the woman. For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Genesis 3:1-7 is the story of Adam s fall as his wife ate the fruit and gave him some as well. Fruit is the synonym for creator s disobedience, superiority to appear as God beside God knowing good and evil, and live for eternity. These events didn t happen to a single human but in each of us in the beginning. Have you noticed your breath before, during and after your accomplishments, or when you feel superior to other or you act as God knowing it all? We love the feeing, don t we? Also, note the warmth or heat generated within. That superiority is the serpent reflected in our breath and the sole cause of our fall. 4

So, in summary, Adam (red clay), and Eve (breath/air) are our basic and sole physical construct which we are aware yet unaware in the beginning. Serpent or ill thoughts are forces that make us act as God defying God s warnings of false knowledge of good and evil and made us think to live for ever. Ill thoughts of superiority are synonymous to a tree as they branch endlessly, serpent is the wickedness, and venom is the suffering. Choice of free will and false knowledge send Adam to earth from paradise is a synonym for our psychophysical shift. Adam is a genderless construct though linguistically it s of male connotation. During interpretation and translation, scholars assumed these events are sequential and preached Adam as a man, Eve as a woman, and the meaningless stories that followed. In scriptural paradigm, gender is a layer on top of Adam and Eve turning them to men or women for reproduction. Each one of us was subjected to this allegorical story which is the sole cause of our misery and eviction from paradise. Can you reflect? [17:88] Say, "If all the humans and all the jinns banded together in order to produce a Quran like this, they could never produce anything like it, no matter how much assistance they lent one another." Quran s Adam and Iblis - the creation Quran documents the story of Adam in multiple chapters or Suras with other entities, such as, Iblish and Jinn. It s not sequential as Old Testament yet keeps the story true to its core. Eve isn t mentioned by name but referred as wife of Adam. To remind, wives, sons and parents are the discoveries of different aspects of psychophysiology not a true human hierarchy in social paradigm. There are two steps in creation mentioned in Quran; the creation of Adam from clay and the creation of human being from potter s clay. Both indicate the same entity maturing overtime in a different timeframe shaped by fire. This fire isn t physical rather the pride of superiority that shapes us and termed as Jinn. Have you noted the psychophysical warmth or fire that comes with pride? Can you feel it? Jinns are not physical entities outside human experience as interpreted by scholars. Q [7:11-12] we created you, then we shaped you, then we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam." They fell prostrate, except Iblis; he was not with the prostrators. He said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I ordered you?" He said, "I am better than he; you created me from FIRE, and created him from MUD." Q [15:28-35] Your Lord said to the angels, "I am creating a HUMAN BEING from aged mud, like the POTTER S CLAY. Once I perfect him, and blow into him from My spirit, you shall fall prostrate before him." The angels fell prostrate; all of them, except Iblis. He refused to be with the prostrators. He said, "O Iblis, why are you not with the prostrators?" He said, "I am not to prostrate before a human being, whom You 5

created from aged mud, like the potter's clay." He said, "Therefore, you must get out; you are banished. You have incurred my condemnation until the Day of Judgment." Iblis or the devil or the Satan is the fire within each of us that makes us think we are superior to our body and other human beings. Iblis simple means grudge in Arabic. The term Prostrate is an allegory meaning to serve. It is not a physical posture to Adam or humans by angels as stated by scholars. There were two instances of this event, to serve, happened that we failed; 1) in childhood, when we thought we are better than our body and 2) after 40, when we think we are superior to our fellow humans Fall of Adam - Eviction from paradise Choice of free will was given to all creations only humans were ignorant enough to accept it. The creator knew about it and asked Adam not to approach the tree but the devil duped them and caused their eviction therefrom. Tree is a synonym for words or thoughts. Paradise, as stated before, is the whole creation the heaven and earth as a single unit. As we pushed the God to heaven and started thinking us as God beside God, the paradise vanished and we find ourselves on earth embodied with sufferings. Q [2:34-38] When we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam," they fell prostrate, except Satan; he refused, was too arrogant, and a disbeliever. We said, "O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom generously, as you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you sin." But the devil duped them, and caused their eviction therefrom. We said, "Go down as enemies of one another. On Earth shall be your habitation and provision for awhile." Q [14:26] And the example of the bad word is that of a bad tree chopped at the soil level; it has no roots to keep it standing Life on Earth All of us were born as angels - pure. As we grow old, we were made to think we are greater than our bodies and we live outside of it. Our teachings are shaped by our thoughts of conquering the world and dominating others, nature and humans, by any means, while ignoring our true SELF and the creation. Overtime, we loose our biological being and want to be something of higher order. This pride of superiority and grudge to serve less fortunate others are the smokeless fire or Jinn within is the cause of our sufferings. A jinni has multitude of descendants; jealously, anger, hate, and all other dark forces or bad qualities. Q [7:20] The devil whispered to them, in order to reveal their bodies, which were invisible to them. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you from this tree, except to prevent you from becoming angels, and from attaining eternal existence." 6

Q [20: ] But the devil whispered to him, saying, "O Adam, let me show you the tree of eternity and unending kingship." They ate from it, whereupon their bodies became visible to them, and they tried to cover themselves with the leaves of Paradise. Adam thus disobeyed his Lord, and fell. As we try control our destiny with baseless thoughts and achievements, we find ourselves in earth by pushing God in heaven and in the process we ruin our psychophysical existence. Iblis and his descendants appear as friends preaching ceaselessly - you are a king, an angel and will live for eternity. As we listen and upheld our superiority, our bodies are torn apart and become visible to us. It s not a fairy tale that happened thousands of years ago but a fact that you can reflect within especially if you re above forty. Have you noted your physiological reaction, slight warmth, with you are better than someone else thought process? This thought of superiority becomes our God in earth and the creator labels him as the devil - a miserable substitute. Jinn or Iblis never dies and becomes irrelevant once individual is awakened with entities within are resurrected. [18:50] We said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam." They fell prostrate, except Satan. He became a jinn, for he disobeyed the order of His Lord. Will you choose him and his descendants as lords instead of Me, even though they are your enemies? What a miserable substitute! Q [38:78-82] "You have incurred My condemnation until the Day of Judgment." He said, "My Lord, respite me till the Day of Resurrection." He said, "You are respited." Until the appointed day." He said, "I swear by your majesty, that I will send them all astray The Return In scriptural landscape, only Adam disobeyed God and he only returns to paradise after receiving words from Him. No other entities, such as, prophets or messengers return to paradise except that they are resurrected. This confirms that human prophets and human messengers were in fact realized Adam and the scriptural prophets are the entities within each of us to be resurrected. Jinns and humans will never realize the paradise and will burn in alleophysical (allegorical yet physical) hell within continuous cycle of life and death. Q [2:31-37] He taught Adam all the names then presented them to the angels, saying, "Give me the names of these, if you are right." They said, "Be You glorified, we have no knowledge, except that which You have taught us. You are the Omniscient, Most Wise." He said, "O Adam, tell them their names." When he told them their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth? I know what you declare, and what you conceal." When we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam," they fell prostrate, except Satan; he refused, was too arrogant, and a disbeliever. We said, "O Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat therefrom generously, as you please, but do not approach this tree, lest you sin." But the devil duped them, and caused 7

their eviction therefrom. We said, "Go down as enemies of one another. On Earth shall be your habitation and provision for awhile." Then, Adam received from his Lord words, whereby He redeemed him. He is the Redeemer, Most Merciful Mahabharata s Adam the story If we look for name Adam in Eastern scriptures for a perfect match, we will be unsuccessful. However, if we look at the stories, their flows and outcomes while keeping a close observation on the meaning of the names, to our surprise they all will align. Manu or the core construct of us is the key figure in Eastern scriptures and same entity as Adam. We will explore Vedas and Ramayana in detail later but will explore Mahabharata and its relationship with entities of interest mentioned in this chapter. Though they are all connected, detail of Ramayana and Mahabharata family tree, their alignment and interactions with Vedas will be discussed later. Here, we will discuss and analyze King Shantunu of Mahabharata and his first son Devavrata in Adi Parva. Adi means the beginning and Parva means Chapter in Sanskrit. Devavrata means God Devotee derived from Deva or God and vrata means devotion. Below story is the synopsis of Adi Parva copied from King Shantanu, king of Hastinipur, was walking by the Ganges River when he saw this incredibly beautiful woman. She was goddess Ganga in human form, but Shantanu did not know that. The king was so enamored by her beauty that he at once asked Ganga to marry him. He put his heart, love, his entire kingdom and wealth at her feet and made this request. Ganga pleased with the King s love replied to him. O King. I shall accept to marry you on one condition. You must never ask me where I am from or the true nature of my origin. You must also never question me on any of my actions - good or bad. You must stand by me on all counts. If you act against any of these conditions, I shall leave you then and there. The king was so much in love that he accepted Ganga s conditions and they got married. Shantanu and Ganga lived a life of serene happiness and love. It was a perfect marriage. Ganga was pure in her thoughts and this attracted Shantanu to her even more. Time passed and they were blessed with a new born son. When the child was born, Ganga took to the child to the Ganges and cast it into river immediately drowning and killing the newborn. She then walked back to her kingdom with a smile on her face. Shantanu was aghast with horror. He could not believe what he had just seen but he stopped himself from asking Ganga any question mindful of the promise he made to her. He wanted to. He didn t ask. As the years passed, Ganga gave birth to 6 more children and to each one, she did the same - dropped the child in the river as soon as it was born and killed it. Shantanu, grieved as he was, asked no question and bore the pain with restraint. When the 8th child was born and Ganga walked to the river with the same intention. Shantanu could not hold himself longer. He cried out Stop! You heartless woman. Why do you do this wretched act? Why do you what no mother would? You are as insane as you are beautiful. As Shantanu restrained Ganga from doing this horrible act, Ganga replied, Dear King, you have broken the promise 8

you made to me and the time has come for me to leave you. However, before leaving, I shall answer your question and reveal my origin and the reasons for my actions. I am goddess Ganga and am in this human form as a result of Sage Vasishta s curse on the 8 Vasus. Ganga continued - These 8 Vasus were, one day, traveling on a holiday with their wives when they came across Sage Vasishta s ashram. Outside the ashram, they saw Nandini, Vasishta s divine cow. One of the wives was taken in so much by the beauty of the cow, that she requested her husband, Prabhasa, to bring the cow to her. Prabhasa replied Dear, we are devas. What use do we have for cows or cow s milk? Even though it is Nandini, whose milk gives everlasting life, we are already enjoying immortality on account of being Devas. Most importantly, Sage Vasishta is very fond of Nandini and it would be improper on our part to violate his integrity. Despite many attempts by Prabhasa, his wife did not yield. She made imploring requests and melted Prabhasa s heart. He agreed and thus, the 8 Vasus took Nandini and her calf by force and disappeared before Vasishta returned to the Ashram. When Vasishta returned and found Nandini missing, he, through his divine vision, saw all that had happened and cursed the 8 Vasus to be born as Mortal Men in this world. When the eight Vasus came to know of this curse, they ran to Vasishta and fell at his feet asking for his forgiveness. Vasishta said that the curse cannot be lifted and has to follow its course. But the effect of the curse can be reduced. He said - Go request goddess Ganga to be your mother on earth and ask her to relieve you of your birth as soon as you are born so that you may return to the heavens without long years of suffering. This reduction in effect I grant to seven of you who supported Prabhasa in his act of stealing. Since Prabhasa was the one who actually stole the cow, the curse will remain in full effect for him and he will have to live his full lifetime on EARTH like a man. But he will live a great life and be regarded as one of the best souls to have ever walked the earth. Saying this, Vasishta went back into meditation. The eighth child was named Devavrata and after the event, Ganga left Shantunu taking her child to heaven to be trained by six sages and returned to the kingdom at the age of sixteen. In later years, Devavrata was named Bhisma and I will cover in detail later Mythological names and their meaning Usually, this story is taken as a literal but in my opinion they all are truly allegorical. To decipher and match with Adam, eve and Iblish, let s first review the meaning of these names in Sanskrit. And then, we will review the allegorical story and bring the characters back to life. Key Characters: Shantunu Calm, quiet or Angelic 9

Hastinipur Ganga Vasu Vashista Nandini Place of Elephants Name of a river - water or life Dwelling Most excellent or consciousness Kamadhenu or Desire Seven children of Shantunu and Ganga: Anala Dhara Anila Aha Pratyusha Prabhasa Soma Living or Fire, Jinn Support or Earth Wind Space light or the Sun Sky Moon Eighth Child Dhruva Devavrata Bhisma The Stars (another name of Devavrata) God devotee Grudge (Iblish) or terrible vow (later name of Devavrata) Mythological story and alignment The whole story is the recollection of Shantunu, the angel or the soul, each of us, who was born in Hastinipur, place of elephants, allegory of proud human beings, marries Ganga or water as life which starts in mother s womb. After birth the seven element of life becomes part of our happiness till the eighth is born. These seven children along with the soul create the functioning baby human which is synonymous to the creation of Adam from clay and air. In our childhood, we don t recognize these entities as we engulf ourselves with fun and play. As we grow and at the age of eight, eighth child or our identity is born as we learn to shape who we are based on our surroundings. As we grow old, we act as Devas, subconsciously, and our sole mission is to support our identity, thus the name Devavrata, and additionally, we think we came from Dhruva or cosmos. As this happens, happiness of our life starts to fall apart and our identity becomes our life, which is the scriptural allegory of descend to earth. Ganga, the true life, along with Dhruva leaves Shantunu due to broken promise and returns him to Shantunu at the age of sixteen. The curse of Vashista for reborn and redemption is the story of reincarnation for resurrection or Liberation. Vashista and his wife Arundhati is the owner of the divine cow - Kamadhenu or Nandini. Arundhati is the goddess of sky, stars, and darkness. In Sanskrit, Arundhati means not restrained and Kamadhenu means desire rainbow. This story is an allegory of each of us. We are sage Vashista or Most Excellent persons married to darkness and owners of limitless desires. These desires get stolen by Prabhasa or Sky with our physical death for the next cycle to resume. And you can relate this to the 10

promises of religions for endless desires up in the heaven which to be enjoyed for ever after physical death. Quran confirms the reincarnation till we realize self and the creator. [2:28] How can you disbelieve in GOD when you were dead and He gave you life, then He puts you to death, then He brings you back to life, then to Him you ultimately return? Iblish and Bishma have another great similarity in their ability to die on their own will. Bhisma s father granted him the boon of Ichcha Mrityu (control over his own death). The same is granted to Iblish in Quran who makes us think we are the kings, angels and will leave for ever as the story of King Shantunu. We all are governed by the same eternal principal better than my body and better than the next person only when we live in earth without God the creator. 6.2 Reflection and Realization: These stories in different scriptures, individual human experience, and reflections seem to have come from a single source confirming all language derivation or scriptures from a single scripture. Quran consistently calls it as the scripture. It s the story of our lives written long before our birth. It s the realization of SELF of who we are and our painful destiny in our making. Five thousand years or so is the number of years when the first scripture was revealed. The knowledgeable ones identified all these entities in play within SELF and found Adam, Eve, Iblish, Angel, living, and pain within the construct of the creation. There is no contradiction between science, evaluation or scripture. Evaluation of the living is a creator controlled mechanism, whereas the scripture is the realization of our psycho-physical being supporting the awesomeness of creation. Adam and Eve = King Shantunu and seven children = Individual human being (psycho + physical) Bhisma or Iblish = Our superiority or fire = Sole reason for our fall from paradise = psycho-physical sufferings of unimaginable proportion The sequences of events are 1. In our mother womb, creation of Adam (soil + water) begins from a tiny drop 2. With other organs, lungs are created while we are asleep. The same is synonymous to our realization of breath and flow as true companion when enlightened 3. Upon birth, Adam (clay) and eve (breath) comes to paradise Seven Vasus 4. As we grow, our ego (jinn) or serpent (tree of eternity or ill thoughts), better than him, made us think we are better than our body (Adam) - Ego is a 11

synonym to smokeless fire. We engulf in knowledge and superiority to find us helpless on earth Eighth Child 5. Later we realize, we do live in body when it starts going downhill removal of garments 6. As we grow old, our education, society and circumstances, made us think we are superior to other human beings 7. Taste of Hell begins. If we realize our mistake, acknowledge God and the creations, hell dies out. Garden of Eden is restored and the paradise is presented. Resurrection begins with the identification of Adam, the Devil and his descendents. Otherwise, sufferings continues and the reincarnation initiates. All entities, Jinn, Human, Devil, King and others are within not outside of each of us. The playground and the entities are known to the creator. Q [17:88] Say, "If all the humans and all the jinns banded together in order to produce a Quran like this, they could never produce anything like it, no matter how much assistance they lent one another." 12
