Quick look at Atonement What is atonement for? rap;dk kaphar, kaw-far ; a primitive root; to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively, to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel: appease, make (an atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile(-liation). Lev. 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul. Rom. 5:8 But Alahiym commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Mashiyach (Messiah) died for us. Rom. 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Rom. 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to Alahiym by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Rom. 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in Alahiym through our Sovereign Yahusha Mashiyach (Messiah), by whom we have now received the atonement. Lev. 16:29 And this shall be a statute forever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourns among you: hîndo anah, aw-naw ; a primitive root through the idea of looking down; to depress literally or figuratively, transitive or intransitive (in various applications, as follows): abase self, afflict(-ion, self), chasten self, deal hardly with, defile, exercise, force, gentleness, humble (self), vrp Rn nephesh, neh -fesh; from 5314; properly, a breathing creature, i.e. animal of (abstractly) vitality; used very widely in a literal, accommodated or figurative sense (bodily or mental): any, appetite, body, breath, desire, greedy, life, lust, man, me, mind, mortally, one, own, person, pleasure, soul Lev. 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that you may be clean from all your sins before Yahuah. Lev. 16:31 It shall be a Shabbath of rest unto you, and you shall afflict your souls, by a statute forever. Lev. 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an Set-apart convocation unto you; and you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto Yahuah. Lev. 23:28 And you shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before Yahuah your Alahiym.

Lev. 23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. Lev. 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that does any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. Lev. 23:31 You shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. Lev. 23:32 It shall be unto you a Shabbath of rest, and you shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall you celebrate your Shabbath. Num. 29:7 And you shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an Set-apart convocation; and you shall afflict your souls: you shall not do any work therein: What took place once a year for the Priest? Lev. 16:2 And Yahuah said unto Mushah (Moses), Speak unto Aharun (Aaron) your brother, that he come not at all times into the Set-apart place within the Veil before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. They come face to face with Him only on this Day. This will be a picture of when He will be Face to Face with us, and make us Priest as well. For we know in part; and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known (1 Corinthians 13:9-12). Ezek. 20:33 As I live, says Yahuah Alahiym, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: Ezek. 20:34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. Ezek. 20:35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. Ezek. 20:36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Mitsraiym (Egypt), so will I plead with you, says Adaniy Yahuah. Ezek. 20:37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: Is. 27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Yahuah shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Mitsraiym (Egypt), and you shall be gathered one by one, O you children of Yashra al (Israel). Is. 27:13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Mitsraiym (Egypt), and shall worship Yahuah in the Set-apart mount at Jerusalem.

Joel 1:14 Set-apart you a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of Yahuah your Alahiym, and cry unto Yahuah, Joel 1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of Yahuah is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, says Yahuah, turn you even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: Joel 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto Yahuah your Alahiym: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repents him of the evil. Joel 2:14 Who knows if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto Yahuah your Alahiym? Joel 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: Joel 2:16 Gather the people, set-apart the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Mark 2:18 And the talmadiym (disciples) of Yahuchanan (John) and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the talmadiym (disciples) of Yahuchanan (John) and of the Pharisees fast, but thy talmadiym (disciples) fast not? Mark 2:19 And Yausha said unto them, Can the children of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. Mark 2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. Ezra 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our Alahiym, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. Is. 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Ya aqub (Jacob) their sins. Is. 58:2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their Alahiym: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to Alahiym. Is. 58:3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and you see not? wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and you take no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors. Is. 58:4 Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: you shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high. Is. 58:5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to Yahuah? Mwøx tsowm, tsome; or MOx tsom, tsome; from from 6684; a fast: fast(-ing). o M wx tsuwm, tsoom; a primitive root; to cover over (the mouth), i.e. to fast: x at all, fast.

Acts 27:9 Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Shaul (Paul) admonished them, nhstei a nesteia, nace-ti -ah; from 3522; abstinence (from lack of food, or voluntary and religious); specially, the fast of the Day of Atonement: fast(- ing). Is. 58:6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? Is. 58:7 Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from your own flesh? Is. 58:8 Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go before you; the esteem of Yahuah shall be your re-reward. Is. 58:9 Then shall you call, and Yahuah shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; Is. 58:10 And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noonday: Is. 58:11 And Yahuah shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. Is. 58:12 And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places: you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. Is. 58:13 If you turn away your foot from the Shabbath, from doing your pleasure on my Set-apart day; and call the Shabbath a delight, the Set-apart of Yahuah, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Is. 58:14 Then shall you delight thyself in Yahuah; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Ya aqub (Jacob) your father: for the mouth of Yahuah has spoken it. Spiritual Applications from the Natural: The priest used a golden censer. Lev. 16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before Yahuah, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: Lev. 16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before Yahuah, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the witness, that he die not:

Spiritual Application. The incense of the golden censer represents the prayers of believers Psa. 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Luke 1:8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest s office before Alahiym in the order of his course, Luke 1:9 According to the custom of the priest s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of Yahuah. Luke 1:10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. Luke 1:11 And there appeared unto him an messenger (angel) of Yahuah standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Rev. 8:3 And another messenger (angel) came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. Rev. 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before Alahiym out of the messenger s (angel s) hand. Messianic Fulfillment. Aaron the high priest typifies the ministry of mediator and intercessor. Yahusha is our High Priest Heb. 5:1 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to Alahiym, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Heb. 5:2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. Heb. 5:3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. Heb. 5:4 And no man takes this honor unto himself, but he that is called of ALahiym, as was Aharun (Aaron). Heb. 5:5 So also Mashiyach (Messiah) esteemed not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, You are my Son, to day have I begotten you. Heb. 5:6 As he says also in another place, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchisedek Mediator 1Tim. 2:5 For there is one Alahiym, and one mediator between Alahiym and men, the man Masiyach (Messiah) Yahusha; 1Tim. 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be witnessed in due time. (Future tense) Heb. 12:24 And to Yahusha the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaks better things than that of Abel.

Intercession Rom. 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered. Rom. 8:27 And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of Alahiym. Rom. 8:34 Who is he that judges? It is Mashiyach (Messiah) that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of Alahiym, who also makes intercession for us. Heb. 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto Alahiym by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession for them. He went within the veil once a year (Uayiqra (Leviticus) 16:2). Spiritual Application. By the death of Yahusha, we are free to enter into the veil Matt. 27:50 Yahusha, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the Spirit. Matt. 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 2Cor. 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remains the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Mashiyach (Messiah). Heb. 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the most set-apart by the blood of Yahusha, Heb. 10:20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; Heb. 10:21 And having an high priest over the house of Alahiym; Heb. 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Heb. 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Heb. 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. Heb. 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, Heb. 10:27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

He washed himself in water (Uayiqra (Leviticus) 16:4, 24). Spiritual Application. For Aaron, this meant he must be absolutely clean in order to make atonement in behalf of the people of Yashra al (Israel). For the believer in Yahusha, it means we are to be washed by the water and of the Word of Alahiym as we approach Alahiym as well for the removal of sin from our lives: John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Yahudiym: John 3:2 The same came to Yahusha by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from Alahiym: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except Alahiym be with him. John 3:3 Yahusha answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of Alahiym. John 3:4 Nicodemus says unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother s womb, and be born? John 3:5 Yahusha answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of Alahiym. Lev. 25:9 Then shall you cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall you make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. Lev. 25:10 And you shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and you shall return every man unto his possession, and you shall return every man unto his family. Lev. 25:11 A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be unto you: you shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of your vine undressed. The ransom price Ex. 21:32 If the ox shall push a manservant or a maidservant; he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned. Matt. 27:3 Then Yahudah (Judah), which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Matt. 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see you to that. Matt. 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. Matt. 27:6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. Thirty pieces of silver was the ransom price of blood in dying in the place of the truly guilty and making atonement for the guilty. In the case of a thief or murderer, there is no atonement for them

Ex. 22:1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. Ex. 22:2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. Num. 35:31 Moreover you shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. This is why there is no atonement for Shatan (Satan) : John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. What Does His blood accomplish for you and me? 1. A token of the re New Covenant (Matthew 26:27-28; 1 Corinthians 11:25). 2. It gives eternal life (Yahuchanan (John) 6:53-54). 3. It brings redemption (Ephesians 1:7). 4. It makes atonement (Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2; 4:9-10). 5. It justifies before Alahiym (Romans 5:9). 6. It gives us forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7; 2:13; Colossians 1:14; 1 John 1:9). 7. It provides reconciliation (Colossians 1:19-20). 8. It provides cleansing (1 Yahuchanan (John) 1:7). 9. It makes us over-comers (Revelation 12:11). Closing thoughts 1John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yahusha Mashiyach (Messiah) the righteous: 1John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 1John 2:4 He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved Alahiym, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. I prayer everyone had a Baruk (Blessed) Day of Atonement
