As the Lord liveth, that hath redeemed my soul out o all distress. 30. Even as sware unto thee by the Lord God o srael, saying, Assuredly Solomon they son shall reign ater me, and he shall 3it upon my throne inmy stead; even so will certainly do this day. 31. Then Bath-sheba bowed with her ace to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said Let my lord king David live orever. 32. And king David said, Call me Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son o Jehoiada. And they came beore the king, 33. 'Theking also said unto them, Take with you the servants o your lord, and cause Sol- omon my son to ride upon mine own mule,and bring him down to Gihon. 34, And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over srael: and blow ye the trumpet, and say, God save king 1 Solomon. % 35. 2 38, So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and BenHaiah the son o Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and Pel9thites, went down, and icaused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, \and brought him to Gihon, 1 39, And Zadok the priest took a horn o oil out o the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon, And they blew the trumpet; and all the people t said, God save king Solomon, 1 NTERPRETATON The Saul-consciousness had been one o high k proessions, but it was alse and hypocritical * and, thereore, unit or and unworthy o spiritual dominion. t had, thereore, to pass away to give place to the purer David-consciousness, which was worthy to continue in ; dominion; or"david was a man ater God's own heart." But David grows old and eeble "that which waxeth old is ready to vanish away."--heb. 8:13, The "vanishing away" o this consciousness does not indicate its unworthiness or unitness to rule as in the case o Saul, but, rather, that a still higher consciousness is to succeed as an outgrowth or culmination o the aithul David-consciousness, The Saul-consciousness was a retrogression, while the Solomon-con- sciousness is a progression, There is no standing still in consciousness; by disobedience o the nner Voice we retrograde, and by aithul obedience we advance to a higher plane. >, The sel-exultation o Adonijah and the princely authority by which he was able to seduce rom their steadastness in principle some o the leaders in David's kingdom, shows that in consciousness o Love, all thoughts and aculties are not equally on the same plane, though obedient and servicable, some being * held to the high standard by the restraining power o Love so that when restraint seems with drawn they maniest their selish pro- j clivities, and when dominion is again restored their subjection is humiliating and 4

3 abject, Adonijah was a princely thought o carnal extraction, being a son o a heathen mother, thereore unsuited or kingship in the spiritual realm; but Solomon, son o an * - sraelite, represents a thought or aculty wholly spiritual, srael-athered and srael- $~ mothered, and, thereore itted or kingship in this spiritual kingdom o mind, Solomon stands or the consciousness o wis- dora or understanding. This high degree po- ceeds rom Love (son o David), yet it is * greater than Love (verse 37). The David-coni sciousness sees in Solomon the coming con- sciousness o transcendent wisdom, just as * John the Baptist recognized transcendent wis- dom in Jesus. "He must increase, but J decrease," t is at the suggestion o the Prophet Nathan that David provides or the establishment o k Solomon on the throne; which shows us that the succession o the Solomon-consciousness is according to divine order, and that the consciousness o Love leads up to and establishes the higher consciousness o understanding. you abide aithully in the consciousness o Love you will, in due time, ind yoursel ripening into wisdom and understanding. Love ', is the ather o understanding, and abdicates its throne that the greater consciousness. may have ull dominion, So Love brings about the establishment o the Solomon-consciousness through the current, action o his holiest thought (high priest), i the Divine authority (Prophet) and the executive will (Benaiah), supported by his invincible host o strong thoughts (body guard o 600 Cherethites and Pelethites), The sublime consciousness o understanding i s irmly and immovably established. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, Long live king Solomon. 40 And all the people came up ater him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound o them. 1 Solomon means "peaceul." Some authorities" claim that the name and history o Solomon is derived rom very ancient mythology ; that Sol-o-man means -Snn_JMan, the sun being symbolically represented by the man, and his history, the changes that occur in \ the yearly journeys o our great solar luminary. That Solomon stands or more than a great Hebrew king and wise man is quite evident to those who have '' searched deeply in religious and mythological history. As students who look especially or inormation about the individual man, we discern in Solomon a certain development o the presiding genius at the heart-center or solar plexus, the sun-center in man.! n Scripture brain-centers, or, more strictly speaking, mind-centers, are designated as cities, and the presiding or ruling intelligence that controls or directs the work o the center, as personalities. Jerusalem (city o peace) stands or the heart-center, and Solomon \ (peaceul man) the presiding intelligence. When the ruling intelligence is in harmony with the undamental character o the center, rapid construction o the spiritual body goes on. Thus we are told that David could not build the great temple, because he was a " m a n o war." When violent and resistant emotions hold#sway in the mind, the turmoil is such that the corpuscles o the blood are constantly broken up as they pass through the valves o the heart, preventing any permanent construction on the higher planes o consciousness o the new body. We see the importance o cultivating peace and not war, non-resistance instead o resistance, harmony and love instead o discord and hate. Anointing the king with oil represents speaking the word o authority in order and harmony. We establish the ruling attitudes o mind throughout our bodies by our daily thoughts, and they may or may not be in harmony with Principle. For instance, our dominant thoughts about love will show orth in the heart-center and establish there a general character, without any deinite rule o action or authority. Under such conditions our love would be merely that o the supericial world, in which we lived. But learning the power o man to set up deinite mind and body condi-! tions through his -word, we begin the anointing o our! kings, or ruling states o consciousness, throughout 5 our domain. Solomon, peace and wisdom, is to be king in our heart, and we mentally anoint him in the name o the Lord. Nathan, the prophet, and Zadok, the priest, are representatives o the spiritual kingdom, which is the real source o all enduring power. we declare our word o authority without its spiritual relation in our thought, it will lack certain elements o stability and truth, and instead o being related to the One nner Source, it will be associated with some o the many man-made thought atmospheres. We should also always anoint our ruling thoughts with oil, which represents Divine Order. The particle's composing" oil are related in mathematical symmetry ; they roll upon each other without riction, and itly represent that Divine adjustment which is possible to the whole body when it comes under the dominion o spiritual ideas. The mule represents human will. When it is ridden upon and is obedient, the inerence is o subjection o that aculty to the established order. Gihon means " stream." t is the name o the second river o the Garden o Eden, and represents the thought o the body as luid. When the will is brought down to a consciousness that the body is pervaded by an invisible luid, it becomes stable and steady and makes concentration easy. The Mosaic account o creation, Adam, and the Garden o Eden, are clearly allegorical, and have always been so regarded by Jewish scholars Paul says that the history o Abraham and Sarah is " a n allegory," and Jesus taught in parables. The one theme o the Bible is man and his relation to God, the One Omnipotent, All-Good and All-Loving Mind. The various personalities represent the changing states o mind o one ego repeatedly incarnating, and thus picture the history o every man. The Garden o Eden, the Promised Land, etc., represent the body ; the various personalities, the ever-changing soul o man, and the Lord God, the Christ-Mind, or God individualized. The Scriptures teach that man was created " t h e image and likeness o God," thereore spiritually perect. That a personality called Adam was also ormed, who, in his ignorance and inexperience, be*an believing in two powers, good and evil " T h e tree o knowledge o good and evil," which is the sin that separated his consciousness rom the One Omnipresence, and resuited in death o his body. Man is a ree agent and has power to make through his thought a condition that seems real, yet is not. We live in such a state o sense delusion, called "this world," and all calamities, sorrow, sickness snd di-ath are its creations. The Christian Religion is a great School o Spiritual nstruction in which those who accept it are being taught that Good is the One and Only Reality, even our Father God; that man is created to be happy, healthy, wise and immortal here in this earth. That heaven is not ar away, but an invisible condition here in our midst, to be brought into maniestation by right thinking and pure living. " T h e kingdom o God is within you," said Jesus. Sickness and death are just as much an evidence o sin now as in the day o Adam. Death does not usher man into a better world, but simply separates spirit, soul and body, which are again and again united in repeated incarnations. This privilege o living and taking on new bodies is allowed until we awake to the true understanding, the likeness o Christ, and through conormation to the Divine Law, overcome death o the body as did Jesus Christ; also that through his overcoming we are empowered to do likewise, and without him we have no lie in us. This overcoming o the "world, the lesh and the devil," is the sapreme attainment and the absolute necessity o every sonl, and it is o great importance that we strive to enter into the " kingdom o heaven " here and now.]

"Solomon" symbolizes peaceul, "Solomon" is made king when peace and poise are established in consciousness through Spirit, WHERE, N BODY CONSCOUSNESS, DOES "SOLOMON"- ESTABLSH HS KNGDOM? "Solomon" is the presiding intelligence reigning over a thought-center at the Solar Plexus region, near the heart, EOW, N SCRPTURE, ARE THOUGHT-CENTERS DESGNATED? Thought-centers are designated in Scripture as "cities? The city in which "Solomon" is established is Jerusalem, the "city o peace," near the heart, WHAT, N CONSCOUSNESS, S THE SYMBOLCAL MEANNG OF A "KNG"? A "king" represents a dominant aculty o mind. WHAT S MEANT BY "ANONTNG THE KNG WTH OL"? When thoughts are established in harmony with Principle, through the authority o Love, they are anointed. Oil represents Divine Love, WHAT N CONSCOUSNESS, DOES THE "MULE UPON WHCH SOLOMON RODE "REPRESENT? The "mule" represents human will. Riding upon the "mule" (human will) symbolizes that Solomon had subjected the human will until it had become subservient to lo?e and wisdom. HOW S KNGSHP N SPRTUAL CONSCOUSNESS ATTANED? Kingship (Sonship) is attained when the human will is harmonized with the divine Will, all warring, resisting thoughts and emotions having given way to the peace and harmony o Divine Love,
