Initially, some protested that they didn t have the flair for writing, but after some encouragement everyone wrote a moving poetic song narrating how God had been working in their lives. Out of trials, protection, provision, and even pain and tears came enduring messages that gave our psalms fascinating themes. Like Psalm 136, each psalm revealed the truth that God s love endures forever. We all have a story to tell about God s love whether we write or sing or tell it. For some, our experiences may be dramatic or intense like the writer of Psalm 136 who recounted how God delivered His people from captivity and conquered His enemies (vv ). Others may simply describe God s marvelous creation: who by his understanding made the heavens... spread out the earth upon the waters... made the great lights... the sun to govern the day... the moon and stars to govern the night (vv. 5 9). Remembering who God is and what He has done brings out praise and thanksgiving that glorifies Him. We can then [speak] to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit (Ephesians 5:19) about the goodness of the Lord whose love endures forever! Turn your experience of God s love into a praise song of your own and enjoy an overflow of His never-ending goodness. Lord, thank You for the world You made and for the blessings on my life. Fill my heart with gratitude and put words in my mouth to acknowledge and appreciate You For all eternity, God s love endures forever.

2 P A G E 2 INSIGHT As with Psalm 136, many of the psalms encourage us to remember and praise God s goodness. In Psalm 42, when the writer s soul is downcast (v. 5), he remembers by day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me (v. 8). He puts his hope in God, and praises his Savior and God (v. 11). The psalmist David remembers God in the desert and is comforted: On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings (63:6 7). And in his distress the psalmist Asaph [seeks] the Lord and is prompted to remember the deeds of the Lord;... [His] miracles of long ago... and meditate on all [His] mighty deeds (77:2, 10 12). What would you include in your psalm of remembrance? 3 N E W S L E T T E R 2 T E R M 2 P A G E 3 Principal s Report It s been a trying few weeks in Carnarvon with the passing of a number of loved-ones in such a short period of time. The ripples spread wide and far and a large number of people are affected in some way or another. Natasha Roche and family put on a beautiful memorial ceremony for her husband Kael. It was a celebration of a life lived to the full. A number of people who had close relationships with Kael gave speeches about his positive effect on their lives. Kael worked for Pindan as a carpenter and Danny Lobwein, the local manager and Kael s boss spoke about him. He described Kael as his go-to-man, when something needed to be solved or a job just had to be done. Kael s generosity, loyalty, gregarious nature, sense of humour and love for life was a shining light for everyone who knew him. What over-rode everything that was said and being spoken about was Tash and Kael s love for each other. They had been together since they were sixteen years old and shared everything, including touring the world together as a couple. There are no simple answers as to why someone so young should be taken from us. However there is hope and we need to look to the book of Revelation to find it. Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, a for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

4 Principal s Report 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look! God s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death b or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Natasha will be commencing work at CCS again in week 7 and we welcome her back with open arms. Our sincere thanks to Kristel Rollings for filling in for Tash so capably in the Kindy and Marina Havenstein for taking on the Sport at such short notice. Thankyou. NAPLAN Last week, children in years 3 and 5 complete the NAPLAN testing in Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Spelling and Punctuation and Grammar. As soon as the results become available they will be sent home to the families. JUMP ROPE -Jump off The children love practising skipping during class every day. Not only are they working their big muscle groups and improving their coordination and fitness but they are having fun whilst learning new skills at the same time. The jump-off will be held on Thursday 21 st June (week 8) commencing at 8:30am. Please plan to come along and share with the children as they demonstrate their new skills.

6 - Gascoyne Cross Country Event 2018 Carnarvon Christian School students -and some parents - have been training hard for the annual Gascoyne Cross Country to be held on Friday the 22nd of June. The students have been running a distance of 4.5 kms from the Prawning Jetty to the school, three times a week. Well done to all and what a great achievement for these young runners; it is a fair distance for them to travel on foot. On the actual event day, the year 3, 4 & 5 students will be running 1500m and the Year 6 will run 3000m. The Year 6 runners will start at the Carnarvon Community College (Marmion Street Campus), using the levee banks, tracks and road ways. The Year 3, 4 & 5 runners start at a point on the track near Lewer/Williams Streets, following the levee bank and roadways. All competitors finish at the Carnarvon Christian School, Babbage Island Road at the back gate, to the cheering of their fellow class mates. A lot of planning and safety preparation occurs each year to ensure the children are kept safe and this includes a 4 wheel motor cycle following behind each group. (CCC are organising this]
