1 Mills Family Chronological Bible Reading Plan v4.5 There are many chronological reading plans out there, and every one of them is different. The fact is nobody can agree even on who authored some writings, even more so when it comes to when they wrote them. In addition, some books are historical, some prophetic and some are metaphor, people disagree on which are which in that regard. You must also consider whether passages should be put in order based on when it was written or based on when they wrote about it, especially when the author speaks about events that happen in their past. Peoples personal views on theology and prophecy will also alter where they think passages should go. This is what led our family to want to create our own Chronological order plan. We do most of our study through an audio bible, so this list reflects that. This is one of the reasons we chose to break it up by chapter and not by verse. I have found it is hard enough moving chapters around, much less trying to chop up individual chapters this would also make the audio bible difficult as it is broken up by chapter as well. As a result when many events happen in the span of a single chapter sometimes there is a little disorder. This document is very much a work in progress and not finalized at all, we are constantly moving things around. If a Psalm is relating events in an extremely sorrowful manner, we may decide to put it closer to the actual event than ones that recall the same event in a more historical manner. Overall there just is no right answer. Many people do not realize that there is no outside or archeological evidence that can tell us the way the bible should be ordered. The current opinions of scholars are mostly based on the content alone. If you find anything that should be moved we would appreciate a note about what you found and then a reason as to why you think it should be that way. For example, some things may be obvious; if we find evidence in the bible that someone was killed after a certain event, any statements by them should be moved to when they were still alive. Do not feel bad if we do not use all changes based on only opinion. Many people see things in the bible very differently, we like to be motivated for a change based on hard evidence in the text when possible. When we do not have explicit indicators, certainly our own opinions come into play. For example in Philippians Paul says he is in prison as he writes it, but he was in prison many times so which do we choose? Some say he was imprisoned in Ephesus and put it there, others say he probably wasn t imprisoned there, only persecuted. We simply do not, and will never have the information to know for sure. After listening to many, many arguments, we decided it seems most likely it was during his second roman imprisonment so we put Philippians after Acts 28.
