Sunday 25 th November 2012 The Greatest Delight - Al Malik, Al Maalik, Al Maliik Lecture by Sister Eman al Obaid In Surat al Fatihah we say: 1:4 The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) Allah subhana wa ta'ala is also the owner of the dunya, but why did Allah subhana wa ta'ala only mention Maliki Yawmid Deen? Because on the Day of Judgment everyone will believe and see that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the King. Everyone will witness that. In the dunya, only the believer will believes that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the King, only the believer will believe with affirmation that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the Owner of everything. That is why Allah subhana wa ta'ala said Maliki Yawmid Deen. On that day; Nobody will deny Allah subhana wa ta'ala s Kingship. Nobody will deny Allah subhana wa ta'ala s Ownership In life we can say I am the king, I am the ruler, I am the owner. When human beings have the authority, when they own, they think they can do whatever they want. The Name of Allah Al Malik, you can feel, you can see the One Whom you are worshipping is not just anybody. The One to Whom you should surrender and submit, He is your King, Your Master and your King. The King has authority to do whatever He wants to do. But don t be afraid because your King is Perfect, your Owner is Perfect, and we are poor and we are in need of Him. 1

Allah subhana wa ta'ala said in the Qur an in Surat al A laa, the worst thing the human being can have is when they feel they are self sufficient from Allah subhana wa ta'ala; when they feel they are independent from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. No matter how strong you are or how powerful or how rich or that you have authority, still you are abdin miskin fakhir ul Allah you are poor and in need of Allah. Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the only One you can run to. When you run to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, He is the only One Who will appreciate that. This is the freedom. The freedom is when you are the Slave of the King, the slave of someone Who is really powerful, this is the real freedom. Freedom is not when I want to whatever I want. Freedom is when you are surrendering and submitting, humble to your King. Your King will never, never be unjust to you. Your King He loves you. Your King wants the good for you. Your King is reforming you. But human beings are not surrendering willingly to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This name will make a person more humble towards Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Never be arrogant. The sahabah, Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave them the victory but they never felt independent from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the more Allah subhana wa ta'ala gave them the more humble they felt towards Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The Real Ownership and Kingship of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You need to know that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the real King, the true King and every other king or ruler is fake, not real. How can you see Allah subhana wa ta'ala s Kingship? Allah subhana wa ta'ala is perfect We are all in need The relationship of the King to His servant How is Allah subhana wa ta'ala the King, dealing with the People who are His slaves? 2

You need to remove from your mind that Allah subhana wa ta'ala will suppress the people Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the King and has the authority but He will never, never be unjust to His servant. This will make you to really love Allah subhana wa ta'ala. How is Allah subhana wa ta'ala dealing with His creation? 1. By His Authority A full and free authority to decree whatever is good for the creation. How Allah subhana wa ta'ala rules and controls His creation, it is the best. If Allah subhana wa ta'ala relies on us to plan and decree our lives it would be chaos. You would choose different things for yourself and at the end you would not be happy. But Allah subhana wa ta'ala out of His rahma took charge of decreeing the things for you which are suitable. But human beings are not surrendering. When you surrender and when you accept it, this is how Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate it. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will decree the thing that suits you. On the Day of Judgment when you see the whole wisdom, when you see the story of your life, everything in your life you will see it infront of you, and then you will praise Allah subhana wa ta'ala for that. But at that time when I am praising Allah subhana wa ta'ala and accepting Allah subhana wa ta'ala there is no value. On the Day of Judgment your test is finished. Your exam is here, now in the dunya. Don t you believe in Allah subhana wa ta'ala? Don t you believe Allah subhana wa ta'ala is Perfect and His decree is perfect? This is Iman al billah to believe in Allah subhana wa ta'ala as a Pillar of Faith. Believe doesn t mean I need to see. Believe means I submit and surrender to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Even if you are objecting, opposing, giving your opinion etc. it will not change any of Allah subhana wa ta'ala s decree. For you, you need to submit to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You Lord does not want to oppress you, He doesn t want the bad for you, He wants the good for you. How your mother wants the best for, how you as a mother want the best for your children even if they don t like it. This is not someone with experience, this is the All knower, the One Who is All Aware of everything. Allah subhana wa ta'ala has full authority to decree whatever. 2. Al Kana ma al Sharia 3

Allah subhana wa ta'ala s rules the sharia the halal and the haram. When Allah subhana wa ta'ala created the whole Universe He has full authority to make the laws which suit human beings. - What I should do in my life halal and haram Allah subhana wa ta'ala has full authority to do whatever He wills, but you need to remember, don t be afraid, when Allah subhana wa ta'ala makes the rules and laws it suits mankind. Every country, every place, every house has rules. Some rules are written and some aren t. Rules are based on what suits the people at home, in a factory, in a country etc. so you can t swap the rules, but rules are changed. The head of the country has the right to change the rules. Imagine the laws of the Universe. The rules in the house are as a safe guard. When the people of the Universe follow the divine laws this is the success, the security the halal and the haram. Praying 5 times a day, believing in Allah subhana wa ta'ala etc. if you follow you will be rewarded, it will be good for you. In a country if you don t want to follow the rules you will be fined or jailed. Allah subhana wa ta'ala has the full authority to make the laws Allah subhana wa ta'ala s laws are divine laws suiting all of mankind, suiting different countries, suiting different nations and cultures, whomever you are, wherever you are. The 5 obligatory prayers are for everybody. But why should we surrender to one rule? Because they are not manmade, it is from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, but it is up to the people if they want to take it or not. Allah subhana wa ta'ala knows exactly what is the best, all the rules, legislations and haram are the best the haram is harming you but you don t know how, so the best is to submit. Allah subhana wa ta'ala took charge of the do s and don t. Allah al Malik has the full authority to make the laws. Since the time of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam the rules are the same suiting everybody so you need to feel so happy that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is making these laws. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not benefit, it is to benefit the human being. You may not like the rules of the country but it is the best for the society so you will accept it. Problems in society are because people are not happy, you need to feel happy that Allah subhana wa ta'ala is bringing the laws and that you will benefit. Nobody can benefit Allah subhana wa ta'ala, nobody can harm Him. Huwa Al Malik, His Kingship is perfect. When you follow the rules it is good for you and good for everybody else. You need to submit to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Malikin Wahidun You have One King and a certain set of rules. Only One person is making the rules not the Messengers and not the angels. On the Day of Judgment Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the only Ruler. This is the perfection of His Kingdom. The perfection of His Kingship is that He has full authority and has taken charge of putting the laws, whatever He wills, and it is perfect and exactly for you but it is up to you if you want to take it or leave it. The aqeedah, the manners, your utterances, your worship, you need to follow one King. Akhlaq (manners) Every country has different manners. When you take the akhlaq from here or there you will pick and choose, but the best manner, the divine manner is from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Your aqeedah should be divine, should be from One. Your worship every place has different types of worship but there should be one way of how to worship. You have One King so it should be one way, one law of how to worship. A divine akhlaq is what Allah subhana wa ta'ala said and what the Messenger of Allah ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam said. Something from your own culture maybe normal, but in Islam it maybe haram. So your belief is very important. With new reverts, don t shower them with the halal and haram. You need to tell them about the King, the One making the laws, then it will make no difference to her as she knows who is making the laws. 4

If you know the commands without knowing the King and the One Who is commanding, the commands will make no sense. It will cause rejection because you don t know what you are saying. The problem is that people don t know about the Ruler. People know the rules but they don t know the Ruler, so you can t understand the rules. When you know the character and attributes of the King, the rules will make so much more sense this is a matter of belief, the first pillar of faith is Iman al billah. Don t call people to Islam with the halal and haram they will run away. You need to make them to know Allah subhana wa ta'ala. What is Allah? The One, if you know Him, you will be drawn to Him. The One, if you know His Greatness, His Beauty, and His Majesty, your heart will be filled with His Love and Magnification. This is the meaning of Allah the Most Beautiful name. Your Allah is Perfect. Allah huwa Al Malik, so when you know about Allah Al Malik, He is the King, He is Perfect that is first pillar of Kingship perfection. Someone perfect is making and putting the rules so the rules will be perfect. The key to everything is love if you love someone you will do it. This is what we are supposed to have in our hearts our hearts are thirsty. We want the love we want our hearts to be filled with the love, the love of whom, the love of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, and to love for the Sake of Allah this will keep the heart alive, to keep your heart going forward, to keep your heart motivated, having the energy, the strength & the power. When you love Allah subhana wa ta'ala you know Him. Human beings love perfection, you love someone perfect. Anything you like in life the good things, good character etc. think about who gave you this, Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Allah subhana wa ta'ala bestowed this on you so how will Allah subhana wa ta'ala be. Everything will remind you of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, His Beauty, His Greatness & His Majesty. But we only look at the things around us, the objects. If you don t see it with your eyes you read it in the Quran, so you don t have an excuse. Everything in life should make you to know Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This should create more love towards Allah subhana wa ta'ala this is your life. The duty of your heart is to love. In order to have the love continuously make your heart attached to the One Who never dies, the One Who is Perfect. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will never give you anything below your expectations. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will always give you better than you expect but we are hasty. Know about Allah subhana wa ta'ala, then know about the rules, the rules will be cool and you will love the rules. See yourself when you know Allah subhana wa ta'ala and pray, and when you don t know Allah subhana wa ta'ala and pray. When you don t know Allah subhana wa ta'ala and pray it is like a burden, you want to quickly finish the prayer. But when you know the One that you are standing in front of is Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the One Who owns everything, yourself and the people and things you are having; and in His Hands He can do everything for you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will deal with you as if you are the only one. When you say Allah Akbar Allah subhana wa ta'ala will place His face in front of your face, Your King, the Most Beautiful. Where are the seekers of the Pleasure of Allah? How will I seek His Pleasure, how I long to see Allah subhana wa ta'ala? When you know Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the One Who commands it will be easy for you to follow what Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants from you. As you know Allah subhana wa ta'ala you will submit without any questions. This is rahma from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, the divine laws will not change according to peoples wishes, according to peoples desires. The divine laws, the halal & 5

the haram, from the time of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam until the Day of Judgment will never, never change because of the people. If people want to change them, it will be on them. If we follow them it will be easy but we are opposing and we are rejecting the commands of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The commands of Allah subhana wa ta'ala are the truth The commands of Allah subhana wa ta'ala are the best The commands of Allah subhana wa ta'ala are benefitting you and benefitting society. The best and ideal society in all of history was in the time of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And even afterwards one century after and one century before. They were the best society because they were following Allah subhana wa ta'ala s rules. There were very few crimes. In the 10 years in Madina there were only 2 cases of adultery. In the time of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallahu alayhi wa sallam with regards to wealth today so many people are poor there was not enough people to give the zakat. The ideal society is a balanced society but today there is a huge gap between rich and poor, people have no food or water. In Islam they reached to the best. Why? Their concern is that they feel that they are a Slave of Allah, they want to do everything in order to go to Paradise. That is why Allah subhana wa ta'ala perfected their life. Today we try to perfect our life but we don t think about the akhirah so our life is not perfect. Take care of what you were created for, and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will take care of your life. Today everything sold to us is about perfection perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect home but life is not perfect. Better that you want to perfect your akhirah, and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will perfect your dunya. Who said you can perfect your dunya? You can do nothing without Allah subhana wa ta'ala s help. With Allah subhana wa ta'ala you can do everything. Just be with Allah subhana wa ta'ala and everybody will be with you. If you concern is not Allah subhana wa ta'ala everyone will be against you. This is the equation of life. Allah subhana wa ta'ala created you to know Him, to follow His commandments and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will take care of your dunya - you body, your house, your children, your work. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will take care of everything. Don t make it your focus, make your focus, your concern and your worry I want to go to Paradise. I want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to be pleased with me. It will not make a difference if people are pleased with you or not, they cannot take you to Paradise, they cannot save you from Hellfire. The main concern is Allah subhana wa ta'ala, be a Slave of Allah, this is an honor for you. When you know the Ruler, willingly I will submit to His laws. Why reject when Allah subhana wa ta'ala will do the best. And when you are following Allah s laws Be in your life what Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants from you and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be for you more than you want from Him. Allah subhana wa ta'ala wants you to be Slave of Allah and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be more for you more than you expect. You need to follow al kana ma al sharia. This will make you to submit to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, don t object to Allah subhana wa ta'ala rules, don t have an 6

opinion or challenge Allah subhana wa ta'ala s laws and legislations this is very dangerous. The best thing is to submit because Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the Best. 1. Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the King how He is dealing with His creation with free will and authority over His Creation. 2. Through the decree and the Sharia. 3. The Recompense Reward & Punishment You either get the reward or punishment Al Jaza the recompense is in Allah subhana wa ta'ala s hands. There are so many virtues of Allah subhana wa ta'ala s laws the salah, the wudu etc. Allah Al Malik will put whatever reward He wills. No one can question Allah subhana wa ta'ala s rules and punishments. InshaAllah to be continued in 2 weeks. This is a transcript of a lecture given by Sister Eman al Obaid. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan. 7
