Workshop: Come to the Success ( على الفالح (حي Day 5 (لعلكم تفلحون ( Quran Ayat in the ي أ ي ہ ا ٱل ذ ين ء ام ن و ا إ ذ ا ن ود ى ل لص ل و ة م ن ي و م ٱل ج م ع ة ف ٱس ع و ا إ ل ى ذ ك ر ٱ لل و ذ ر وا ٱل ي ذ ٲل ك م خ ي ر ل ك م إ ن ( :9-10 Surah Al Juma a ك ث ير ا ل ع ل ك م ت فل ح و ن )٠١( O) you ) ك نت م ت ع ل م ون )٩( ف إ ذ ا ق ض ي ت ٱلص ل و ة ف ٱنت ش ر وا ف ى ٱ ل ر ض و ٱ ت غ وا م ن ف ض ل ٱ لل و ٱذ ك ر وا ٱ لل who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salât (prayer) on Friday (Jumu'ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allâh [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salât (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing), That is better for you if you did but know! (9) Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salât (prayer) is ended, you may disperse through the land, and seek the Bounty of Allâh (by working, etc.), and remember Allâh much, that you may be successful (10)),(خطاب من هللا) (O you who believe): Allah (swt) is addressing the believers (ي أ ي ہ ا ٱل ذ ين ء ام ن و ا ( o you do not find Allah (swt) saying (O mankind) ( ايها الناس (يا when it is linked to success, why? Because the condition to success is belief, subhan Allah. o ( ن ود ى ل لص ل و ة م ن ي و م ٱل ج م ع ة (إ ذ ا (When the call is proclaimed for the Salât (prayer) on Friday (Jumu'ah prayer),): as soon as you hear the time for prayer, you need to: (come to the remembrance of Allâh): come to the prayer, this (ف ٱس ع و ا إ ل ى ذ ك ر ٱ لل ( is for the males especially regarding the congregational prayer. (and leave off business (and every other thing)): the prayer is the (و ذ ر وا ٱل ي ( foremost in your priorities ( من أولى اهتمامه.(الصالة That is why there is no success when the business is being placed over the prayer it should be the other way around. Don t think about urgent, but what is important. And when you place the prayer first, then you will even find even your time-management will be better. For example, you need to send a message or pray, what should you do first? Pray. People think if I finish everything then I can be relaxed when I pray, but what if something happens and you are unable to make that final prayer? Is anyone going to ask you why didn t you send a message, subhan Allah. When you put your priorities first, then your life will be organized. Though your business is urgent, but you need to leave it for the prayer. And you will find if you pick to do something else rather than pray first, it will take longer that you originally expected, why? Because there is no blessing in the time. Whereas if you pick the prayer first, then you will find Allah (swt) will put barakah in your time and make your tasks easy, subhan Allah. People think if I keep my business open during prayer time while everyone else closes then I will be more successful, but that extra money that comes in at that time is not blessed, subhan Allah. And alhamdulliah that it is only during the time of the Friday prayer, and not the whole day, other religions have to end all types of work for the whole day. o ( ق ض ي ت ٱلص ل و ة (ف إ ذ ا (Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salât (prayer) is ended): So after the Friday prayer, what is the command? (you may disperse through the land): And truly when you see (ف ٱنت ش ر وا ف ى ٱ ل ر ض ( the people coming out of the Friday prayer it looks like they are being spread, Page 1

o subhan Allah. Then you can go and spread about whether to go home, go out, do business etc. (and seek the Bounty of Allâh (by working, etc.)): It doesn t (و ٱ ت غ وا م ن ف ض ل ٱ لل ( mean when you end the prayer that you lift your gown, meaning even if you go and seek your livelihood, you want to seek from the favors of Allah (swt), not someone else or that you are earning yourself. The seeking of the favors of Allah (swt) is a feeling in the heart it is Allah (swt) that is providing me, not myself. ك ث ير ا) (and remember Allâh much): A person might be seeking (و ٱذ ك ر وا ٱ لل something of the duniya, busy with business, so Allah (swt) mentions to remember Him much, subhan Allah. When we are busy, we can easily forget the remembrance of Allah (swt). (that you may be successful): it is a guaranteed success when you make (ل ع ل ك م ت ف ل ح ون ( your priorities the greatest rewards / most beloved deeds to Allah (swt), you seek the favors of Allah (swt) in your heart, make an effort, and remember Allah (swt) much. (أولئك هم المفلحون ( Quran Ayat in the The difference between ( تفلحون (لعلكم (that you may be successful) and ( هم المفلحون (أولئك (they are the successful ones) is that ( تفلحون (لعلكم are the steps to success, but ( هم المفلحون (أولئك are the ones that have already achieved success, though they also include steps, but they are characteristics. Meaning if you have these characteristics, then you are of the successful ones, subhan Allah. (أولئك) is when Allah (swt) is magnifying them, (هم) meaning them and no one else, (المفلحون) the successful ones. (Alif-Lâm-Mîm. (2) Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and spend out of what we have provided for them (3) And who believe in (the Qurân and the Sunnah) which has been sent down (revealed) to you (Muhammad Peace be upon him ) and in that which we sent down before [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), etc.] and they believe with certainty in the Hereafter. (Resurrection, recompense of their good and bad deeds, Paradise and Hell,) (4) They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful. (5)) o The ( (لم ت ين mutaqeen are the ( م ف ل ح ون (ٱل successful ones, notice in the ayat before it said mutaqeen. have taqwa. But here they are already (ات وا) o The characteristics of the successful people is taqwa they have taqwa in every aspect of their life, in worship, in business, in dealing with others, etc. o One of the scholars had so much taqwa that he wanted to buy grapes, then he stopped himself saying that not everything I desire, I should get he does not want to spoil Page 2

himself, subhan Allah. And sometimes we find ourselves spoiling ourselves by getting things we desire, subhan Allah. o They are muttaqeen and they are successful, but what is in between guidance from Allah (swt) so it shows that Allah (swt) is The First and The Last. They are not mutaqeen just like this, but they went through so much nurturing from Allah (swt) and learning from decrees in life. ال م )٠( ت لك ء اي ت ٱل ك ت ب ٱل ح ك يم )٢( ه د ى و ر ح م ة للل م ح س ن ين )٣( ٱل ذ ين ي يم ون ٱلص ل و ة و ي ؤ ت ون ٱلز ك و ة و ه م ( :5 Surah Luqman (Alif Lâm Mîm [These letters are one of ) ٱ ل خ ر ة ه م ي وق ن ون )٤( أ و ل ٮ ك ع ل ى ه د ى لمن ر ل ه م و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م ف ل ح ون )٥ ) the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.]. (4)) In Surah Al Baqarah ( ذ ٲل ك ٱلڪ ت ب ل ر ي ب ف يه ه د ى لللم ت ين ) there is no doubt in the Quran and in Surah Luqman ( ء اي ت ٱل ك ت ب ٱل ح ك يم (ت لك the Quran is a book of wisdom, and this is being mentioned in Surah Luqman which is about wisdom, subhan Allah. There are levels of one s islam: Islam iman and the highest is ihsan. What is the definition of ihsan? To worship Allah (swt) as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you. These are two levels of ihsan and the first is the highest, to do things as if you see Allah (swt) so this is doing with longing of Allah (swt), whereas the other is with fear because you know Allah (swt) is watching you. و لت ك ن لمنك م أ م ة ي د ع ون إ ل ى ٱل خ ي ر و ي أ م ر ون ٱل م ع ر وف و ي ن ه و ن ع ن ٱل م نك ر و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م ف ل ح ون ( : Surah Al Imran (Let there arise out of ()٠١٤( و ل ت ك ون وا ك ٱل ذ ين ت ف ر ق وا و ٱخت ل ف وا م ن ع د م ا ج ا ء ه م ٱل لين ت و أ و ل ٮ ك ل ه م ع ذ اب ع يم )٠١٥( you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islâm), enjoining Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief Page 3

It is they for whom there is an awful torment. (105)) o Characteristics of the successful ones in this ayah: they call to good, they invitate to what is good. Meaning you :(ي د ع ون إ ل ى ٱل خ ي ر ( invite the people in the best way, not through force or scolding, but rather gently and welcoming. What is good? The good that will draw you closer to Allah (swt) ( ما ي رب الى هللا (كل study circles, prayer, etc. So what is evil? كل ما ي رب الى سخط ( (swt) Anything that draws you closer to the wrath of Allah.(هللا :( enjoining Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism و ي أ م ر ون ٱل م ع ر وف و ي ن ه و ن ع ن ٱل م نك ر ( and all that Islâm orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), this comes after inviting, because that is how it should be. And when you enjoin, enjoin (Al-Ma'rûf) which is anything that is known to be good in its soundness and legislation (Quran and Sunnah ( عرف الع ل و الشرع حسنه.(ما And they forbid what is Munkar, meaning whatever the mind and legislation (Quran and Sunnah) deny, meaning it is.(ما انكره الع ل و الشرع ( wrong o ( و ل ت ك ون وا ك ٱل ذ ين ت ف ر ق وا و ٱخت ل ف وا م ن ع د م ا ج ا ء هم ٱل لين ت :( Do not be divided amongst each other ي أ م ر ه م ٱل م ع ر و ف ( 157: Surah Al Araf نج ي لم ى ٱل ذ ى ي ج د ون ه ۥ م كت و ا ع ند ه م ف ى ٱلت و ر ٮ ة ل و ٱ ل ٱل ذ ين ي ت ع و ن ٱلر س و ل ٱلن ى ٱ ل و ي ن ہ ٮ ه م ع ن ٱلم نڪ ر و يح ل ل ه م ٱلط لي ت و ي ح لر م ع ل ي ه م ٱل خ ٮ ث و ي ض ع نه م إ ص ر ه م و ٱ ل غ ل ل ٱل ت ى ك ان ت ع ل ي ه م ف ٱل ذ ين ء ام ن و ا ه ۦ (Those who follow the Messenger, the ) و ع ز ر وه و ن ص ر وه و ٱت ع و ا ٱلن و ر ٱل ذ ى أ نز ل م ع ه أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م فل ح و ن Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhammad SAW) whom they find written with them in the Taurât (Torah) (Deut, xviii 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16), - he commands them for Al- Ma rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At- Tayyibât (i.e. all good and lawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods), and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khabâ ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allâh s Covenant with the children of Israel), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammad SAW), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur ân) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful) o Who are the successful ones in this ayah? ) They believe in the Prophet (pbuh) that he is a messenger sent by ء ام ن وا ه ۦ ( Allah (swt) they honor him :(ع ز ر وه ( how do you give victory to the Prophet (pbuh)? You need to follow his :(و ن ص ر وه ( sunnah and defend him if something wrong is said. ): and follow the light (the Qur ân) which has been sent و ٱت ع وا ٱلن و ر ٱل ذ ى أ نز ل م ع ه ( down with him ): these are the successful ones. Nowadays, people think أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م فل ح و ن ( anyone who follows the sunnah is not successful, subhan Allah. But the success Page 4

ل is when you are following what Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh) want. If you are not following the Prophet (pbuh) then this is not success. Why is someone considered successful if they follow the Prophet (pbuh)? Because all of the points for success mentioned are following the Prophet (pbuh). When you sleep, sleep like he sleeps, when you eat, eat like he eats, etc then you will be successful. إ ن م ا ك ا ن ق و ٱل م ؤ م ن ي ن إ ذ ا د ع و ا إ ل ى ٱ لل ور س ول ه ۦ ل ي ح ك م ي ن ه م أ ن ي ول و ا س م ع ن ا و أ ط ع ن ا و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ( :51 Surah An Noor (The only saying of the faithful believers, when they are called to Allâh (His Words, the (ٱل م ف ل ح ون Qur'ân) and His Messenger (SAW), to judge between them, is that they say: "We hear and we obey." And such are the successful (who will live forever in Paradise).) o The believer is truthful meaning what he says is what he believes in his heart. Unlike the hypocrite who speaks words of truth, but does not believe in his heart. o If there is a matter that needs to be judged between the believers, then they need to س م ع ن ا ( say refer to Quran and Sunnah. And when the judgement is made, they need to we hear and obey. The believer will not follow his desires or be stubborn and ) و أ ط ع ن ا say it should be like this, subhan Allah. o Maybe their desire wants a different judgement, but they hear and obey, and these are the truthful people. For example, when you hear this is what Allah (swt) said, His prophet (pbuh) said, don t say but.. don t put another person s word before Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh). Or you hear that Allah (swt) said there is cure in honey, don t say that s oh yeah that s what the scientists say, subhan Allah. o When you hear and obey what Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh) have said, then you will have a successful life. (ل ك ن ٱلر س و ل و ٱل ذ ي ن ء ام ن وا م ع ه ۥ ج ه د وا أ م و ٲل ه م و أ نف س ه م و أ و ل ٮ ك ل ه م ٱل خ ي ر ٲ ت و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱ لم فل ح و ن ( :88 Surah At Tawbah (But the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) and those who believed with him (in Islâmic Monotheism) strove hard and fought with their wealth and their lives (in Allâh's Cause). So they are struggling in order to succeed. But the hypocrites give an excuse to not have to struggle. Even in the worships, people want to sit and not make the effort, subhan Allah. When you are lacking in worship, don t give an excuse if you don t wake up for prayer, don t give an excuse. You need to confess and alhamdulliah that is between you and Allah (swt). How can you reach success while being lazy? Subhan Allah. To be really successful, don t put goals that can be seen, because if you achieve them, then you can get lazy, but put unseen goals forgiveness and paradise, so that you always continue to strive to be successful. o ( و أ و ل ٮ ك ل ه م ٱل خ ي ر ٲ ت ) (Such are they for whom are the good things): someone who struggles will reach, but someone who is lazy will not have goodness because they just Page 5

want their own comfort. As humans we lean towards being lazy, but when you struggle, then the reward is great. Surah Ar Room :38 ( ف ات ذ ا ٱل ر ى ح ه ۥ و ٱل م س ك ي ن و ٱ ن ٱلس ي ل ذ ٲل ك خ ي ر للل ذ ي ن ي ر يد و ن و ج ه ٱ لل و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م فل ح و ن ) (So give to the kindred his due, and to Al Miskîn (the poor) and to the wayfarer; That is best for those who seek Allâh's Countenance, and it is they who will be successful) o Success begins in the house, what is the point of being successful in your career but not successful at home you find those who are successful in their careers are either divorced, or have miserable family lives. Success is about knowing your priorities. o The rights should be towards those who are near to you, meaning family. If you want to know the reality of a person, see how they are at home. A person outside is always wearing a smile and being good, but what about at home? Subhan Allah. o Then those who are poor, then the wayfarer, whom you will see once and not again. o ( ذ ٲل ك خ ي ر للل ذ ي ن ي ر يد و ن و ج ه ٱ لل ): if you want to see Allah (swt) then be good to those who are close to you because no one will praise you. If you are helping your children and helping people outside, the children are more worthwhile because they will not praise you, subhan Allah. For example, cooking for your children and cooking for your guests, who is getting more ihsan? Subhan Allah. Charity begins at home. Hadith: ( ر س و ل هللا صلى هللا عليه وسلم " خ ي ر ك م خ ي ر ك م ل ه ل ه و أ ن ا خ ي ر ك م ل ه ل ي (ق ال (Narrated 'Aishah (ra): That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The best of you is the best to his household, and I am the best of you to my household) At Tirmidhi Book 49, Hadith 4269 o ( و أ و ل ٮ ك ه م ٱل م فل ح و ن ): they are successful because there is ikhlas, sincerity they are seeking the face of Allah (swt) alone, they do not want the praise of others. And He will admit them to Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow to dwell therein (forever). Allâh is pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allâh. Verily, it is the Party of Allâh that will be the successful.) o If someone believes in Allah (swt) and the Day of Judgement, then you will not find them making friendship with those who oppose Allah (swt) and His messenger (pbuh) even if they are those who are close to them, even family. So what does Allah (swt) do for them? يم ن ( o ): Allah (swt) will stamp the faith on their hearts, meaning no أ و ل ٮ ك ڪ ت ب ف ى ق ل و ہ م ٱ ل change, subhan Allah.
