1 152 Authors Biography Norsuria Jani Norsuria Jani holds a Master of Science degree in Islamic banking and finance from Institute of Islamic banking and finance, International Islamic University Malaysia. She has contributed various researches in Islamic finance with Assoc Professor Dr Rusni Hassan of IIUM and Dr Khalifa Ali, an economist and researcher from Islamic Research Training Institute. She presented papers at various Islamic finance conferences including ISRA Colloquium. Areas of research and her interests encompass legal and regulatory, corporate and Shariah governance, Islamic banking and Takaful, Islamic wealth management, Islamic capital markets and risk management. She was a law graduate (LL.B) from IIUM before she continued her double Bachelor s degree programme in Shariah (LL.B_S) at the same university. She is a Legal Executive at one of the leading law firms in Islamic finance, Azmi & Associates. Dr Rusni Hassan Dr Rusni Hassan is Associate Professor and Deputy Dean at the IIUM Institute of Islamic banking and Finance (IIiBF), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Her area of specialization includes Islamic Banking and Finance and Islamic Documentations, Islamic Capital Market, Takaful and Islamic Law of Transactions. She is a member of Shariah Advisory Council Bank Negara Malaysia and Shariah Advisor for Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) and a registered Shariah Shariah Advisor with the Securities Commission Malaysia. She is the present Secretary for the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS) and Assistant Secretary for International Council for Islamic Finance Educators (ICIFE). She presented papers for many international conference and seminars locally and abroad. She has spoken extensively in seminars, workshops, conferences and trainings on various Islamic Finance issues. Her publication includes books on Islamic Banking and Takaful, Islamic Banking under Malaysian Law, Corporate Governance of Islamic Financial Institutions; and various articles of journals, Shariah Law Reports and other publications. Syed Marwan Syed Marwan is a PhD candidate and an Academic Trainee in International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF). Marwan
2 Authors Biography 153 received his Bachelors Degree in Commerce majoring in Economics and Finance from the University of Melbourne, and CIFP (CGPA: 3.71) from International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). Marwan has experience as a researcher at Kuwait Finance House Research (KFHR), and as a project Manager for Islamic Finance World Report 2012, a collaboration between KPMG, INCEIF and REDmoney to ascertain an accurate understanding of the size of the global Islamic finance market. He was assigned as project manager to research the Islamic finance market in Australia, New Zealand, and South America. Being quite new in the academia, he has not published any academic journals yet, but is actively writing and pursuing for his papers to be published. He has presented a number of papers in several conferences, namely the Islamic Business Management Conference 2014 in PWTC Malaysia, and The 6th International Conference on Postgraduate Education (ICPE6) in University Teknikal Malaysia (UTeM). As such, some of Marwan s work has been included in conference proceedings. M. Nur Rianto Al Arif M. Nur Rianto Al Arif is lecturer of Islamic Economics in the Department of Islamic Economics at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta Indonesia. Arif received his bachelor in economics from the University of Diponegoro, Semarang, Indonesia, and Master of Islamic Economics and Finance from the University of Indonesia. Now, he is a doctoral student in Economics from the University of Indonesia. Arif has published 16 articles that published in refereed academic journal either in Indonesian journal or international journal. Arif is the editor of the Journal Al-Iqtishad: journal of Islamic Economics, Journal of Etikonomi, and Journal of Tauhidinomics. Arif has published eight books that published in Indonesia such as: The Foundation of Islamic Banks Marketing (Alfabeta, 2010), Islamic Macroeconomics (Alfabeta, 2010), Microeconomis: A Comparation between Islamic Economics and Conventional Economics (Kencana, 2010), The Fundamental of Islamic Economics (Intermedia, 2011), Islamic Financial Institution (Pustaka Setia, 2012), The Mapping of Islamic Economics Teaching in Indonesia as the co-author (Gramata, 2012). Arif is the member of several associations and organizations such as The Indonesian Association of Islamic Economist (IAEI), The Society of Shariah Economics (MES), The Center of Islamic Economics (P3EI), The Association of Economics Scholar (ISEI), and Society organization of Muhammadiyah.

He obtained B.A Hons from Al-Azhar University, Egypt in In 2002, he received PGD in Development and Planning, specialized in International Economic Relation. Dr. Umar Ahmed Dr. Umar Ahmed is senior lecturer of Islamic banking and finance in Islamic Business School, college of business, University Utara Malaysia. Umar received his BA in Economics and MSc. in finance and PhD in Business Administration from International Islamic University Malaysia. He also received a professional certificate (IFP) from Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM). Umar is an Islamic financial planner, research and has teaching experiences in microeconomics, macroeconomics, regulation in Islamic finance, Islamic money and capital markets, Islamic banking operation and Islamic financial contracts. Umar has presented many papers in international conferences and published in referred journals such as Accounting Research Institute Journal. Umar is a reviewer of International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, Ahmad Abdur-Raheem Sabree Ahmad Abdur-Raheem Sabree is a Masters degree candidate from Atlanta, Georgia USA at the IIUM International Institute for Islamic banking and finance. He also completed his B.S degree in Usul Fiqh with a minor in Sociology in IIUM graduating with Honors. Ahmad finished the memorization of the Quran at the age of 14. He continued his study of the Arabic language and the interpretation of the Quran and Hadith during his bachelor s degree program in IIUM. Ahmad speaks fluent English and Arabic and basic Bahasa Malaysia. Ahmad has been active in organizing student events since his bachelors days from volunteering for preparation and technical affairs in university level events to planning, organizing and hosting conferences on the university and international level. The latest conference designed by Ahmad is the Bi- Annual student conference between IIiBF and INCEIF students discussing how to refine and clarify the unique identity of Islamic finance. The last two conferences were a success and plans are in place to hold the event for the 3 rd time within the coming semester. Ahmad has always had an interest in technology and currently is completing his thesis which covers the topic of crowdfunding and how it can be harnessed to help SMEs and micro-enterprises in a Shariah compliant manner.

Selamah Maamor Selamah Maamor is currently a senior lecturer of Islamic Economics at Department of Muamalat and Islamic Finance, Islamic Business School (IBS), College of Business, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). She got her PhD in Islamic Economics from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi Malaysia. 6 Authors Biography 157 Dzuljastri Abdul Razak Dzuljastri Abdul Razak is an Associate Professor at the Department of Finance, Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia, Malaysia. He earned his PhD in 2011 from Universiti Sains Malaysia in Islamic Banking and Finance. He teaches marketing, bank management, bank marketing, Islamic products and services and Islamic financial planning. His areas of interest are Islamic home financing, Islamic micro-credit, equity financing, personal finance, service quality in Islamic banking, maqasid al-shariah and financial crisis from Islamic perspective. He has published a number of articles in Review of Islamic Economics, International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, Global Journal of Finance and Economics, JKAU Islamic Economics, Journal of Islamic Marketing and American Journal of Applied Sciences, to mention some. Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim currently is a Dean and an Associate Professor at Islamic Business School (IBS), College of Business, University Utara Malaysia (UUM), and a member of both Shariah Advisory Council of Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) from 2013 to 2016, and Securities Commission of Malaysia from 2014 to Apart from that, he is also Securities Commission of Malaysia Registered Shariah Advisor for Islamic capital market. Prior to that, he was Shariah Adviser and Consultant of few Islamic financial institutions since 2008 where he involved directly in initiating and advising the structuring of Islamic banking products and commercial papers such as Islamic debt certificate, sukuk, etc. He holds Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) from INCEIF in 2010 and Islamic Financial Planner (IFP) in 2012, and graduated from University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan in 1997 in Islamic Jurisprudence and Legislation. He later obtained Masters and PhD degree in Fiqh and Usul Fiqh from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1999 and 2004, specializing in Islamic law of contracts and Islamic finance practices. He has authored few books and numerous articles in Islamic finance and Shariah issues in reputable international and national journals, books, magazines and newspapers. Among the highest achievements of his career are receiving the National Award of the Best Writer for Consumer (magazine criteria) by Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Affairs and Institute Akhbar Malaysia (AIM) in 2003; and the Central Bank of Malaysia Shariah Scholarship Award Malaysia for CIFP program in He also actively involves in researches and academic textbooks writing funded either by UUM or other
7 158 institutions such as ISRA, OUM and Asia e-university. Beside busy with academic works, he was also assigned with administrative jobs. Mahmoud received his B.Sc, in Al-Qur an and Sunnah Studies from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2003, M.Sc of Quranic and Sunnah Studies from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2005 and later obtained another M.Sc in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Mahmoud has concrete work experience. He is currently employed at the Embassy of The Hashemite kingdom of Jordan, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia as An Administrative and Technical Staff and he has been performing duties for this post since Mahmoud was previously apportioned at Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) as a Translator and Relations Manager in During which his responsibilities were to translate YADIM s website from English to Arabic, organize seminars and conferences related to YADIM, and also participate in courses, seminars and conferences on behalf of YADIM. Mahmoud is also well known for handling relations with Middle-East embassies and communities in general. In 2002, he joined Petrosains, Petronas where he was assigned as a Volunteer to guide and help Arab visitors through the functions of various machinery and equipments in Petrosains. Emad Eddin Abaji Emad Eddin Abaji is currently doing PhD in Islamic Finance and Banking at Islamic Business School (IBS), University Utara Malaysia, Malaysia. His first degree is in Bachelor in economy from University of economy and business Aleppo-Syria.
