Tel: Seven Kings Madrasah Terms and Conditions In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Dear Parent/Guardian, Assalaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh On behalf of SKMET we welcome your interest to enrol your child into the Madrasah. This brochure contains the terms and conditions for enrolment at the Madrasah. The terms and conditions are best understood as guidelines which will help inculcate Islamic etiquettes and manners in the children. We hope parents will co-operate with the Madrasah in implementing these guidelines. 2 Sayyiduna Anas (radhiyallahu anhu) narrates that the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said: To seek knowledge is compulsory on every Muslim. (Baihaqi,Tabrani) AIMS In the SKMET s evening children s Madrasah we hope to provide basic but important Islamic Education to Muslim children, with the following aims: To inculcate the Love of Allah (swt), his Rasool (saw) and the Deen of Islam in the children and a vivid concern for the hereafter. To equip the children with basic but vital Islamic Education. To promote Islamic values. To develop in children respect for parents, teachers and elders and tenderness towards those younger then them. To inculcate the Love for fellow Muslims and concern for the wellbeing of humanity at large. TIMING & PUNCTUALITY Punctuality is an essential requirement of the Madrasah. This is to ensure efficient use of class time. Lateness causes disruption and affects the education of the latecomers as well as adversely affecting others. SKMET Madrasah pupils are expected to be punctual in attending the Madrasah. The support and co-operation of parents is vital in achieving this. Madrasah timings are: Monday Friday Class time to be confirmed Any student who is not present in class by session start time will be marked on the register as LATE. If the child is late more than once in a week then he/she may have to attend a late detention after Madrasah on an appointed day. Parents will be notified beforehand about any detentions taking place All are urged and requested not to disturb their children or any teacher during Madrasah time without an appointment. Page 2

3 Except in matters of extreme urgency, parents should not come into Madrasah to collect any child before the session end time, as this interrupts the class and the teaching pattern of the teachers. Please ensure you drop your child/ren off on time and pick them up no later than 5 minutes after home time. The Madrasah will not accept responsibility for students 10 minutes after home time nor for students who arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled time. ABSENCE FROM MADRASAH It is very important that all children attend Madrasah regularly. Unnecessary absences will seriously affect their progress. If your child is absent you must inform the Madrasah on the first day of absence, particularly if you think the absence is going to last more than 3 days. The Madrasah telephone number is at the top of this brochure. Only those absences which are accompanied by a parental note will be considered as an authorised absence. Notes must be brought in to Madrasah (signed and dated by parents) on the day your child returns to Madrasah. This will enable us to keep accurate records and monitor any truancy. Absences which are not authorised by the Madrasah will be considered as an unauthorised absence. Two or more unauthorised absences in one month may result in the parents being contacted. If this does not resolve the problem then the child s name may be removed from the Madrasah register. At the end of each month, the Madrasah management will review the attendance of all students and have the full right to discipline, suspend or even expel any student who has taken a considerable amount of unauthorised leave. PERSONAL HOLIDAYS In the interest of the children s education it is highly discouraged to take any holiday during the term time. Parents must apply for permission to take their children away for a personal holiday during Madrasah term time. A form can be obtained from the Madrasah office. Failure to obtain permission prior to the leave may result in the child s name being removed from the Madrasah register. The same could happen if the absence exceeds the maximum permitted leave. The maximum amount of permitted yearly leave is 10 days. Page 3

4 IF YOUR CHILD IS ILL In the event of a student feeling unwell and unable to carry on attending classes, we will contact the family to ask for the student to be collected and taken home. It will therefore be advisable to keep children at home if they genuinely feel unwell. It is very important that our records contain accurate and up to date contact information of all parents/guardians/next of kin. If your details change, e.g. new place of accommodation, new telephone number, new mobile phone number, it is vital that you inform the Madrasah as soon as possible. DRESS CODE All children are required to abide by the dress code. If for any reason you cannot send your child to madrasah with the correct uniform, you must send a signed and dated note to explain why. Any child attending Madrasah dressed inappropriate to the dress code without a dated and signed note by the parent or guardian will be sent home. Boys should observe the following Dress code: White Shalwar Qamees or Jubbah/Thoub White topi/skull cap Boys must keep their garments i.e. Trousers, Jubbah etc above the ankles Boys are also required to have haircuts that are allowed in Islam Non-Islamic haircuts, such as fades, step cuts, Mohicans etc will not be accepted and may result in suspension from the Madrasah. Any clothing with pictures or images of living objects, humans, animals, skeletons and clothing with big designer slogans etc. are unacceptable at the Madrasah. Page 4

5 Adopting any hairstyle that entails shaving some part of the head and leaving the other unshaven (i.e. Mohican, short back and sides, wedges, tram lines etc.) is Makrooh (severely disliked) and prohibited by Rasool Allah. Many parents give their children these disliked haircuts from a young age and say that there is nothing wrong with this as they are only children, but little do they know that they have started to teach their children to break the laws of Allah and go against the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ( ). Many youth and adults have also adopted these disliked hairstyles, especially trying to emulate the ever changing fashion. Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Rasool Allah saw a boy whose head was partly shaved and part was covered with hair. He ( ) said: shave it all or leave it all. (Abu Dawood, No. 3663) Nafi reports that he heard Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah ( ) forbidding the practice of Qaz a. Ubaid Allah said: I asked what Qaz a was? So he said: When the head of a child is shaved and hair is left here and there, and Ubaid Allah pointed towards his forlock and the sides of his head, (Sahih Al-Bukhari, No Sahih Muslim No. 3959) Page 5

6 PREPERATION, TAHAARAH AND CLEANLINESS It is recommended that children take some rest upon returning from school and take a light snack and drink some water. It is also stressed that parents ensure, as a matter of routine, that children fulfil their toilet needs and perform wudhu at home before coming to Madrasah. This will help in increasing the efficiency of their time in the class Please ensure that your child s clothing is clean and presentable. Your child s outer presentation will be monitored regularly i.e. their clothing, socks nails etc. will be checked. BEHAVIOUR & DISCIPLINE Discipline and good behaviour is very important in Islam, especially in the Masjid. All Students should: All Students should respect the Mosque and its environment. All Students should respect all the asatidhah / teachers by listening attentively when they speak and obeying them in their instructions. An unauthorised absence may result in the child having to sit in detention. All Students should have due respect for the Books and other learning aids. All Students should be well mannered at all times. Bullying, verbal, physical or racial harassment will not be tolerated and may lead to suspension and in severe cases expulsion. Fighting and the use of any sort of foul language will not be tolerated. Disobedience and disrespect of teachers, Madrasah & Masjid staff will automatically result in suspension or expulsion. Persistent disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated. DISCIPLINE PROCEDURE The Madrasah has a strict 4 stage Discipline procedure. If the student misbehaves then these steps will be taken in sequence. If after stage 1 the student continues to misbehave then stage 2 will be implemented etc. In extreme circumstances, the management has the right to imply stage 4 instantly. Stage 1: A verbal warning will be given to the student and recorded in the behaviour book. Page 6

7 Stage 2: A written warning will be issued and sent to the parents/guardians. Stage 3: The parents/guardians of the child will be called in to have a meeting with the class teacher and/or the Madrasah management. The student will be suspended and may be placed on report after their return. Stage 4: The student will be expelled immediately. In certain circumstances, a student could be expelled immediately, without having to follow the behaviour policy. HOMEWORK Parents must take interest in the lesson (homework) that their children bring home. Parents must encourage their children to make time to do their homework. This should, Inshaa Allah, create zeal and a sense of importance in the child s heart to learn and do well. Homework may not always be written. Non-written homework such as learning to recite the Quran, memorizing surahs and prayers is EQUALLY IMPORTANT. Each child should be encouraged to spend at least 20 to 30 minutes daily learning their lesson or doing their homework. Each child will have a Homework diary that will record their homework. It must be signed and dated by the parent to show they have learnt the homework. PROMOTE PROGRESS Parents must help promote their child s progress. To promote your child s progress, you should assist him/her with the following: Motivate your children before sending them to Madrasah and encourage them to always listen to and respect their teachers. Allocate time for your child s Taleem / teaching. Listen to your child read the day s lesson and encourage him. Guide and assist your child to perform better and reward him on any improvement noted. Continue to motivate your children and inculcate in them the importance of their Madrasah studies. BREAKAGES AND DAMAGES The Madrasah is entitled to require parents to pay for the cost of damage caused by children (e.g. breakage of window, damage to furniture, desks etc). Page 7

8 SUGGESTIONS & COMPLAINTS All suggestions are welcome and will be taken into consideration to improve the standard of the Madrasah. Any suggestions should only be made to the Head teacher or management of the Madrasah. Suggestions are also welcome in written form. In order to meet with any of the teachers an appointment should be made Teachers will not meet with any parent without an appointment. Any complaints should be made to the Head teacher & Madrasa Management and not to the teacher concerned. A complaint form can be requested from the office. ADMISSION & TUITION FEES A one off admission fee of 25 is to be paid before starting Madrasa. For the running of the Madrasah a fee is charged per child. Fees will be due at the beginning of each academic year ( ). To assist parents the fees can also be paid on the first day of EVERY Month ( 22.00). You may also pay fees for advance months. If paying monthly the last 2 payments need to be paid together ( 44.00). We kindly request all Parents/Guardians to ensure that fees are sent on time and on the correct day. You may send the fees with your child in a sealed envelope with your child s name and class written clearly on the top of the envelope. CONTACT DEATAILS To contact the Head teacher parents can arrange an appointment to come into the Madrasah Parents should remember not to come into the Madrasah during Madrasah hours, as this disturbs the class. After having read and understood the terms and conditions, if you still wish to enrol your child at the Madrasa, please complete the application form which can be obtained from the office.
