Objectives of the Scheme of Studies To update our curriculum to the needs of our times for producing graduates with a difference that would make them the most suitable to the Bar and the Bench. 2. To incorporate all the necessary changes in our ever changing legal scenario so that our graduates would command both the common as well as Islamic law traditions at the same time. 3. 2 8. Justification for Revision of Scheme of Studies 9. Previous notification of the approval of B.A, LL.B. (Hons.) Shariah & Law (Six Year Program) existed as part of the previous B.A, LL.B. Shariah & Law program. 4. To compensate students for the time consumed by them in studying Arabic Language by awarding them Diploma of Arabic Language for Study of Shariah (DASS). Board of Governors in 60 th meeting held on February 14, 2009 while discussing the duration of B.A, LL.B. (Hons) Shariah & Law Program observed as under: It was agreed that since we are offering substantial courses in Shariah (Islamic Law) in addition to the courses prescribed by the Pakistan Bar Council, spread over five years, the duration of the program was extended to six years (after 12 years higher secondary education). The board did not agree to offering of the 21 credit hours in a semester. The Board further agreed that the IIU degree of B.A, LL.B. (Hons) Shariah & Law is valued and recognized because the graduates are trained in Common Law as well as Shariah (Islamic Law). 49 th meeting of Academic Council Notification No. IIU-D.
