1 Simple Hajj Tamattu Guide Types f Hajj There are three types f Hajj: Tamattu, Ifraad and Qiraan. Tamattu means entering iḥrām fr Umrah nly during the mnths f Hajj. Hajj Tamattu invlves a cmplete Umrah and a cmplete Hajj. When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he/she perfrms Tawaaf and Saa i fr Umrah, and shaves his head r cuts his/her hair, and exits iḥrām. Then when the Day f Tarweyah (8th f Dhu l-hijjah) cmes, ne enters iḥrām fr Hajj nly, and des all the actins f Hajj. Ifraad means entering iḥrām fr Hajj nly. When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he/she perfrms tawaaf al-qudm (tawaaf f arrival) and Saa i fr Hajj, but he/she des nt shave r cut their hair and des nt exit iḥrām, rather he/she remains in iḥrām until he exits iḥrām after stning Jamarat al- Aqabah n the day f Eid. Qiraan means entering iḥrām fr Umrah and Hajj bth tgether. Or entering iḥrām fr Umrah first then including Hajj in that befre starting the tawaaf f Hajj. That is dne by intending that his/her Tawaaf and Saa i will be fr bth Hajj and Umrah. The actins dne in Qiraan are the same as thse dne in Ifraad, except that the pilgrim ding Qiraan has t ffer a hadiy (sacrifice) whereas the pilgrim ding Ifraad des nt. The best f these three types f Hajj is Hajj Tamattu. This is what the Prphet S enjined upn his cmpanins R and urged them t d. It is strngly recmmended fr ne wh enters iḥrām fr Qiraan r Ifraad t change their intentin t Umrah, then cmplete Umrah and exit iḥrām, s that they will then be ding Tamattu. May Allah accept it frm us all. Ameen! 1

2 Umrah Made Easy! - The first pillar f Hajj & `Umrah is the iḥrām iḥrām: The duties f Umrah begins with iḥrām at the Meeqat (a pint sme distance frm Makkah beynd which a pilgrim may nt pass withut iḥrām set by the Prphet S.) Yu dn t have t d this during any f the Tawaaf in Hajj.) 2. Ar-Raml: which means speeding up ne's pace with small steps. This is nly during the first three circuits nly.
