2 Call for Papers The Conference The Centre of Islamic Finance (CIF), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Lahore Campus is organizing the 4 th Annual Global Forum on Islamic Finance (GFIF) on at Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore, GFIF provides a platform and a medium for scholars and experts from all over the world to share their novel ideas on Islamic finance and related fields. Theme: Value Creation and Impact Islamic finance is increasingly emerging, in many parts of the world, as an alternative financial system. The approach is based on Shariah or Islamic Law. The rules of Islamic finance are part and parcel of the religion by which Muslims lead their lives. Modern Islamic financing techniques were developed in Muslim parts of Asia, notably Malaysia. But the boom, since the mid-1990s, has come from the large oil revenues flowing into the Gulf region. Islamic finance has been concentrated in Muslim parts of the world: the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. More recently, the ideas and concepts of Islamic finance have attracted conventional issuers and investors, from all over the world, seeking to tap into new opportunities. Aim of the Conference: GFIF aims knowledge generation and sharing among national and international stakeholders of Islamic Finance. GFIF 2016 is aimed at providing an opportunity for researchers, scholars and practitioners to share their knowledge regarding the dynamics of Islamic finance, recent developments in the field of Islamic finance and their potential impact, as a financial alternative, on the major economies of the world in the near future and its further potentials. 3 Scope of the Conference: GFIF 2016 will provide the participants an opportunity to share their knowledge in the sphere of Islamic finance in the local as well as the global context. Related topics that contribute towards the theme of the conference will be welcomed. GFIF 2016 will also provide a unique opportunity to the budding and potential researchers and practitioners to augment their skills through intensive sessions in the presence of highly professional local and foreign speakers. Moreover, panel discussions will ignite dialogue on contemporary issues to add value towards the learning of the participants. Structure of the Conference: The GFIF welcomes diverse participants from the academia, research institutes, financial institutions, corporate world and the government sector to share their experiences, learning and research. The forum comprises of various sessions to make it exciting and a comprehensive experience for attendees. The participants may choose from any of the following options: Research Paper Presentations Case Study Presentations Panel Discussions Lectures of leading financial experts and Shariah scholars The Conference Topics: The scope of the conference is much broader and following topics are given here as a guideline, thus, you may send a paper that is in commensurateness with the conference theme.
