2 Early Life Born in Mecca in the?4 th year of Nubuwwat Parents: Abu Bakr Siddique and Umme Rumman (RA) Since I reached the age when I could remember things, I saw my parents worshipping according to the right faith of Islam. Not a single day passed but Allah s Apostle visited us both in the morning and in the evening

3 Early Life Aisha was initially betrothed to Jubayr ibn Mut'im, a Muslim whose father, though, pagan was friendly to the Muslims. When Khawla bint Hakim suggested that Muhammad marry Aisha after the death of Khadijah (RA) the previous agreement regarding marriage of Aisha with ibn Mut'im was put aside by common consent

4 Marriage to the Prophet SAW Married to the Prophet SAW in Shawwal, 10th year of the Nubuwwat, third wife She was six years old at that time Sent by her parents to live with the Prophet after his emigration to Madina, when she was nine. Marriage did not change her playful ways. Her young friends came to visit her regularly in her own apartment.

5 Life in Madina Teachings of Islam in all fields of life for the Muslim community were starting to be revealed to the Prophet He demonstrated these by example and practice An intellectually gifted person was required who would have daily contact with the Prophet at the closest and most personal level, so as to absorb the teachings that he was giving on all aspects of life by his words and actions

6 Such a person needed an excellent, precise memory to retain details with accuracy an understanding to grasp the significance and the principles of the teachings powers of reasoning, criticism and deduction to resolve problems on the basis of those teachings

7 Such a person needed the skills to convey knowledge to a wide range of audience Finally, have the prospect of living for a considerable period of time in order to spread his message to distant generations

8 Relationship with Prophet (SAW) Most beloved among all the wives Allah's Apostle said, "The superiority of 'Aisha over other women is like the superiority of Tharid to other meals." Narrated Anas bin Malik, Al Bukhari

9 Relationship with Prophet (SAW) it was in her company that Muhammad reportedly received the most revelations

10 Knowledge of Islam Abu Musa said: Whenever there was any hadith that was difficult [to understand] for us, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, and we asked Aisha we always found that she had knowledge about that hadith. Musa ibn Talha said: I never saw anyone more eloquent than Aisha. Tirmidhi

11 Knowledge of Islam The bulk of her vast treasure of knowledge was obtained while she was quite young. There are 2210 traditions narrated from her. Her students were approximately 200: Hazrat Abu Hurairah, Hazrat Abu Musa Ashari, Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas and Hazrat Abdullah ibn Zubair (RA)

12 Participation in Wars On the day (of the battle) of Uhud I saw Aisha daughter of Abu Bakr and Umm Sulaim, hurrying with their water skins. Then they would pour the water in the mouths of the people, and return to fill the water skins again and came back again to pour water in the mouths of the people. Sahih Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Jihad wal-siyar, Chapter: Women in war and their fighting alongside men

13 Character She lived Islam. She led a truly Muslim life of prayer, charity and struggle for truth and justice. The Prophet once gave her the following advice: Ayesha, if you want to meet me (again, in the life to come), then treat this world like a traveler's meal and do not attend the gatherings of the rich and the powerful and do not consider clothes old as long as they can be mended." (Ibn Sa`ad)

14 Character She kept wealth away from her like one would keep dust from one's person. Once `Abd Allah bin Zubayr sent her 100,000 dirhams, but by the end of the same day she had given it all away to the people. Ibn Sa`ad reports `Urwa as saying that on one occasion he saw Ayesha distribute 70,000 dirhams among the people and then get up shaking the front of her dress as if she were clearing it of dust." 'Ayesha also often kept nafl (supererogatory) fast.

16 Incident of Al-Ifk So, patience is becoming. And Allah is (The One) Whose help is to be sought against what you describe. (12:18). Verily! Those who brought forth the slander (against Aishah [R] the wife of the Prophet [pbuh]) are a group among you." (24:11)

17 Battle of Camel 656AD Aisha RA took part in the Battle of Camel to revenge the shahadat of Uthman RA. Aisha raised an army which confronted Ali's army outside the city of Basra. Muslim slaughtered Muslim for the first time. Aisha was directing her forces from the back of a camel Ali captured Aisha but declined to harm her. He sent her back to Medina under military escort headed by Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, who was one of the commanders in Ali's army

18 Conclusion She died on the night of Tuesday, the 17th Ramadan, 57 A. H at the age of sixty-six. was buried in Jannat al Baqi beside other companions of the Prophet.

19 Lesson Learnt proof that a woman can be far more learned than men and that she can be the teacher of scholars and experts. Her life is also proof that the same woman can be totally feminine and be a source of pleasure, joy and comfort to her husband.
