1 22 شعبان Based on ayah 208 سورة البقرة الح ص ن الح ص ني من الشيطان الرجيم The Impenetrable Fortress from the Accursed Shaitan Allah calls the shaitan,الرجيم from م,ر ج which means to stone. We stone the pillars representing the shaitan in hajj, to remember that we can never have peace with the shaitan. He is also called,عدو the enemy. A description of the shaitan is الجناس,الوسواس the one who whispers, but withdraws, humiliated, when you remember Allah. إ ن الش ي ط ان ل ك م ع د و ف ات خ ذ وه ع د و ا إ ن م ا ي د ع و ح ز ب ه ل ي ك ون وا م ن أ ص ح اب الس ع ير Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of the Blaze سورة الفاطر 35:6 Don't ever be deceived by his advice, take him as your enemy. The shaitan beautifies the sins and discourages from good, so that you can go to the hellfire with him. The foundation for the protective fortress we need to build around us is على اهلل,التوكل reliance upon Allah. The fortress is a means for protection; Allah is the One who protects. You mist believe that Allah is the only One who can give you the power and strength to resist the shaitan. If you rely on yourself, or the means, you will forget to recite the adhkar so many times, because the shaitan will distract you. So you need Allah to remind you. Allah is the One in charge. Allah is,الوكيل the All Powerful and,القوي العزيز Irresistible, giving you the strength. Allah is,الحفيظ the One who preserves,,الرب the Nurturer. You cannot fight the shaitan by yourself. The أذكار are weapons, but you have to be strong enough to use these weapons. Their effectiveness is according to the strength of your faith. They will have no effect without tawakkul. Without this, you will get tired, stressed, sad and ungrateful, unable to continue. As an example, if a farmer works in his fields, but the neighbour's dog comes everyday and spoils the fields, the farmer will have to go to the owner of the dog. In the same way, the الشيطان,رب the Lord of the shaitan, is Allah, and we have to go to Him to defeat the shaitan. This is faith, before you,رب األسباب are means, attach to أذكار pronounce and recite the remembrances for protection. These the Lord of the means. The ruqyah, or protective verses and duas, do not work without faith. The stronger your faith, the more your ruqyah will be effective.

2 1. Seeking refuge with Allah from the shaitan. One way of seeking refuge with Allah is by saying أعوذ باهلل من الشيطان الرجيم I seek refuge with Allah from the accused shaitan و إ م ا ي نز غ ن ك م ن الش ي ط ان ن ز غ ف اس ت ع ذ ب اهلل إ ن ه س م يع ع ل يم And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing سورة األعراف 7:200 و إ م ا ي نز غ ن ك م ن الش ي ط ان ن ز غ ف اس ت ع ذ ب اهلل إ ن ه ه و الس م يع ال ع ل يم And if there comes to you from Satan an evil suggestion, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing سورة فصلت 41:36 The evil is injected by the shaitan into our minds. As an example, you lose a piece of jewellery from your home, and the thought comes to mind, that the maid took it. After this, it depends on you whether you go ahead with the thought or dismiss it. Don't take the ideas of the shaitan, nor talk about them. Allah hears you when you pronounce,اإلستعاذة seeking refuge with Him. Allah knows your weaknesses and desperation. The isti'adha will work according to your faith. If you feel so weak before Allah, He will make your isti'adha strong. ف إ ذ ا ق ر أ ت ال ق ر آن ف اس ت ع ذ ب اهلل م ن الش ي ط ان الر ج يم So when you recite the Qur'an, [first] seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy] سورة النحل 16:98 The cure and the guidance is in the Qura'an, so whenever you want to read it, the shaitan comes to make you tired, sleepy, distracted. The solution is the isti'adha, it gives power and strength. Don't worry or stress, just rely on Allah.

3 إ ن ال ذ ين ي ج اد ل ون ف ي آي ات اهلل ب غ ي ر س ل ط ان أ ت اه م إ ن ف ي ص د ور ه م إ ال ك ب ر م ا ه م ب ب ال غ يه ف اس ت ع ذ ب اهلل إ ن ه ه و الس م يع ال ب ص ير Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing. سورة غافر 40:56 The isti'adha is mentioned here for all evils. The people who debate and argue about the Qura'an, without any authority or proof, are form the اإلنس,شياطني the human shayateen, affecting people with their words. They have arrogance in their hearts, and cannot achieve anything by it. So when you see this kind of behaviour, make the isti'adha, don't look at yourself as better than them. املعوذات س و ر اإلخالص و الفلق و الناس ق ل ه و اهلل أ ح د Say : He is Allah, [who is] One اهلل الص م د Allah, the Eternal Refuge ل م ي ل د و ل م ي ول د He neither begets nor is born و ل م ي ك ن ل ه ك ف و ا أ ح د Nor is there to Him any equivalent سورة اإلخالص 112:1-4 ق ل أ ع وذ ب ر ب ال ف ل ق Say : I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak م ن ش ر م ا خ ل ق From the evil of that which He created و م ن ش ر غ اس ق إ ذ ا و ق ب And from the evil of darkness when it settles و م ن ش ر الن ف اث ات ف ي ال ع ق د And from the evil of the blowers in knots و م ن ش ر ح اس د إ ذ ا ح س د And from the evil of an envier when he envies سورة الفلق 113:1-5

4 ق ل أ ع وذ ب ر ب الن اس Say : I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind م ل ك الن اس The Sovereign of mankind إ ل ه الن اس The God of mankind م ن ش ر ال و س و اس ال خ ن اس From the evil of the retreating whisperer ال ذ ي ي و س و س ف ي ص د ور الن اس Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind م ن ال ج ن ة و الن اس From among the jinn and mankind سورة الناس 114:1-6 These surahs for protection are recited at certain times and circumstances Once after obligatory prayers Thrice in the morning and evening supplications Before you sleep, recite them in three sets of one each, blow on your hands, and rub your hands over the body For sickness, use as ruqyah At times of violent winds and intense darkness 2. ب س م اهلل الرحمن الرحيم The tasmiyah, to say صلى اهلل عليه و سلم The Messenger of Allah said : إذا دخل الرجل بيته فذكر اهلل تعالى عند دخوله وعند طعامه قال الشيطان ألصحابه : ال مبيت لكم وال عشاء وإذا دخل فلم يذكر اهلل تعالى عند دخوله قال الشيطان : أدركتم املبيت وإذا لم يذكر اهلل تعالى عند طعامه قال : أدركتم املبيت والعشاء. صحيح مسلم رياض الصالحني كتاب # 3 حديث # 730 If a person mentions the Name of Allah upon entering his house or eating, Satan says, addressing his followers: You will find no where to spend the night and no dinner. But if he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his followers) : You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: You have found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food. The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : لو أن أحدكم إذا أتى أهله قال: بسم اهلل اللهم جنبنا الشيطان وجنب الشيطان ما رزقتنا فقضى بينهما ولد لم يضره. متفق عليه رياض الصالحني كتاب # 16 حديث # 1445 If anyone intends to have a relation with his wife, he should say : In the Name of Allah, O Allah! Keep

5 us away from Satan and keep Satan away from what You have bestowed upon us); and if Allah has ordained a child for them, Satan will never harm him. 3. Ayat Al Kursi اهلل ال إ ل ه إ ال ه و ال ح ي ال ق ي وم ال ت أ خ ذ ه س ن ة و ال ن و م ل ه م ا ف ي الس م او ات و م ا ف ي األ ر ض م ن ذ ا ال ذ ي ي ش ف ع ع ند ه إ ال ب إ ذ ن ه ي ع ل م م ا ب ني أ ي د يه م و م ا خ ل ف ه م و ال ي ح يط ون ب ش ي ء م ن ع ل م ه إ ال ب م ا ش اء و س ع ك ر س ي ه الس م او ات و األ ر ض و ال ي ئ ود ه ح ف ظ ه م ا و ه و ال ع ل ي ال ع ظ يم Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. سورة البقرة 2:55 This great ayah is recited before sleeping in the morning and evening supplications after the obligatory prayer as ruqyah Abu Huraira رضي اهلل عنه said : Allah's Messenger صلى اهلل عليه و سلم put me in charge of the Zakat of Ramadan (i.e. Zakat-ul-Fitr). Someone came to me and started scooping some of the foodstuff of (Zakat) with both hands. I caught him and told him that I would take him to Allah's Messenger اهلل عليه و سلم.صلى Then Abu Huraira told the whole narration and added : He (i.e. the thief) said : Whenever you go to your bed, recite the Verse of "Al-Kursi (2.255) for then a guardian from Allah will be guarding you, and Satan will not approach you till dawn. The last two ayaat of Surah Al Baqarah آم ن الر س ول ب م ا أ نز ل إ ل ي ه م ن ر ب ه و امل ؤ م ن ون ك ل آم ن ب اهلل و م ال ئ ك ت ه و ك ت ب ه و ر س ل ه ال ن ف ر ق ب ني أ ح د م ن ر س ل ه و ق ال وا س م ع ن ا و أ ط ع ن ا غ ف ر ان ك ر ب ن ا و إ ل ي ك امل ص ير ال ي ك ل ف اهلل ن ف س ا إ ال و س ع ه ا ل ه ا م ا ك س ب ت و ع ل ي ه ا م ااك ت س ب ت ر ب ن ا ال ت ؤ اخ ذ ن ا إ ن ن س ين ا أ و أ خ ط أ ن ا ر ب ن ا و ال ت ح م ل ع ل ي ن ا إ ص ر ا ك م ا ح م ل ت ه ع ل ى ال ذ ين م ن ق ب ل ن ا ر ب ن ا و ال ت ح م ل ن ا م ا ال ط اق ة ل ن ا ب ه و اع ف ع ن ا و اغ ف ر ل ن ا و ار ح م ن ا أ نت م و ال ن ا ف انص ر ن ا ع ل ى ال ق و م ال ك اف ر ين The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination."allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people." 2: The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : من قرأ باآليتني من آخر سورة البقرة في ليلة كفتاه. متفق عليه رياض الصالحني كتاب # 9 حديث # 1017 He who recites the two Ayat at the end of Surat Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him. 5. Reciting Surah Al Baqarah صلى The Messenger of Allah : said اهلل عليه و سلم ال تجعلوا بيوتكم مقابر إن الشيطان ينفر من البيت الذي تقرأ فيه سورة البقرة. صحيح مسلم رياض الصالحني كتاب # 9 حديث # 1018 Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited.

7 Reciting this surah makes your house lively and happy, alive, not dark and dismal, because the shaitan will flee from it. In general, the whole Qura'an is a source of happiness, and specifically Surah Al Baqarah. The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : اق ر ء وا ال ق ر آن ف إ ن ه ي أ ت ي ي و م ال ق ي ام ة ش ف يع ا أل ص ح اب ه اق ر ء وا الز ه ر او ي ن ال ب ق ر ة و س ور ة آل ع م ر ان ف إ ن ه م ا ت أ ت ي ان ي و م ال ق ي ام ة ك أ ن ه م ا غ م ام ت ان أ و ك أ ن ه م ا غ ي اي ت ان أ و ك أ ن ه م ا ف ر ق ان م ن ط ي ر ص و اف ت ح اج ان ع ن أ ص ح اب ه م ا اق ر ء وا س ور ة ال ب ق ر ة ف إ ن أ خ ذ ه ا ب ر ك ة و ت ر ك ه ا ح س ر ة و ال ت س ت ط يع ه ا ال ب ط ل ة. صحيح مسلم حديث #a 804 Recite the Qur'an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite It. Recite the two bright ones, al-baqara and Surah Al 'Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it. You must read it, ponder upon its words, and apply it. 6. The remembrance of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و The Messenger of Allah : said سلم من قال ال إله إال اهلل وحده ال شريك له له امللك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير في يوم مائة مرة كانت له عدل عشر رقاب وكتبت له مائة حسنة ومحيت عنه مائة سيئة وكانت له حرز ا من الشيطان يومه ذلك حتى يمسي ولم يأت أحد بأفضل مما جاء به إال رجل عمل أكثر منه. وقال : من قال سبحان اهلل وبحمده في يوم مائة مرة حطت عنه خطاياه وإن كانت مثل زبد البحر. متفق عليه رياض الصالحني كتاب # 16 حديث # 1410 He who utters a hundred times in a day : there is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner with Him; His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent, he will have a reward equivalent to that for emancipating ten slaves, a hundred good deeds will be recorded to his credit, hundred of his sins will be blotted out from his scroll, and he will be safeguarded against the devil on that day till the evening; and no one will exceed him in doing more excellent good deeds except someone who has recited these words more often than him. And he who utters : Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise, one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the ocean.

7. The dua prescribed to be read when you leave your home The Messenger of Allah : said صلى اهلل عليه و سلم من قال - يعني إذا خرج من بيته-: بسم اهلل توكلت على اهلل وال حول وال قوة إال باهلل يقال له:

says (upon leaving his house): I begin with the Name of Allah; I trust in Allah; there is no altering of conditions but by the Power of Allah, it will be said to him : You are guided, defended and

The dua prescribed to be read when you leave your home The Messenger of Allah : said صلى اهلل عليه و سلم من قال - يعني إذا خرج من بيته-: بسم اهلل توكلت على اهلل وال حول وال قوة إال باهلل يقال له: هديت وكفيت ووقيت وتنحى عنه الشيطان وقال زاد أبو داود: فيقول : - يعني الشيطان - لشيطان آخر: كيف لك برجل قد هدي وكفي ووقي رواه أبي د او د و الترمذي و النسائي رياض الصالحني كتاب # 1 حديث # 83 Whoever says (upon leaving his house): I begin with the Name of Allah; I trust in Allah; there is no altering of conditions but by the Power of Allah, it will be said to him : You are guided, defended and protected. The devil will go far away from him. Abu Dawud reported it with this addition : One devil will say to another: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected? Don't make any dua unthinkingly or heedlessly; gather your heart, think of the reward, and say it for the pleasure of Allah and to draw close to Him. The shaitan will then leave your car while you are driving to the Markaz! 8. The dua to be read when you reach your destination صلى اهلل عليه و سلم The Messenger of Allah said : م ن ن ز ل م ن ز ال ف ل ي ق ل أ ع وذ ب ك ل م ات اهلل الت ام ات م ن ش ر م ا خ ل ق. ف إ ن ه ل ن ي ض ر ه ش ى ء ح ت ى ي ر ت ح ل. موطأ مالك كتاب # 54 حديث # 1800 Whoever dismounts to rest in a place should say, I seek refuge with the complete words of Allah from the evil of what he created; and nothing will harm him until he remounts. This dua should specially be recited if the place you go to is deserted.

Suppressing the yawn صلى اهلل عليه و سلم The Messenger of Allah said : إذا تثاوب أحد كم فليمسك بيد ه على فيه. فإن الشيطان يدخل. الراوي : أبو سعيد الخدري املحدث : مسلم املصدر : صحيح مسلم الصفحة أو الرقم: 2995 خالصة حكم املحدث : صحيح When any one of you yawns, close your mouth with your hand, because the shaitan will enter your body. The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : إ ن اهلل ي ح ب ال ع ط اس و ي ك ر ه الت ث اؤ ب ف إ ذ ا ع ط س أ ح د ك م و ح م د اهلل ك ان ح ق ا ع ل ى ك ل م س ل م س م ع ه أ ن ي ق ول ل ه ي ر ح م ك اهلل. و أ م ا الت ث اؤ ب ف إ ن م ا ه و م ن الش ي ط ان ف إ ذ ا ت ث او ب أ ح د ك م ف ل ي ر د ه م ا اس ت ط اع ف إ ن أ ح د ك م إ ذ ا ت ث اء ب ض ح ك م ن ه الش ي ط ان. صحيح البخاري حديث # 6226 Allah loves sneezing but dislikes yawning; so if anyone of you sneezes and then praises Allah, every Muslim who hears him (praising Allah) has to say Tashmit to him. But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so if one of you yawns, he should try his best to stop it, for when anyone of you yawns, Satan laughs at him. 10. The dua for entering the masjid The shaitan waits outside the masjid, waiting to come in. صلى Whenever the Messenger of Allah entered the masjid, he اهلل عليه و سلم said: أعوذ باهلل العظيم وبوجه ه الكريم وسلطان ه القديم من الشيطان الرجيم. I seek refuge in Allah, the Magnificent, and in His noble face, and in his eternal domain, from the accursed Devil. Avoid the shayateen Another way of protection from the shaitan is to avoid the circumstances whereby you can encounter him. إدخال الصبيان البيوت عند املغرب Bring the children inside at maghrib time صلى اهلل عليه و سلم The Messenger of Allah said : إذا كان جنح الليل - أو أمسيتم - فكف وا صبيانكم. فإن الشيطان ينتشر حينئذ. فإذا ذهب ساعة من الليل فخل وهم. وأغلقوا األبواب. واذكروا اسم اهلل. فإن الشيطان ال يفتح باب ا مغلق ا. وأ و ك وا ق ر ب كم. واذكروا اسم اهلل. وخم روا آنيت كم. واذكروا اسم اهلل. ولو أن ت عرضوا عليها شيئ ا. وأطفؤا (مصابيح كم (. وفي رواية : أنه سمع جابر بن عبد اهلل يقول نحو ا مما أخبر عطاء. إال أنه ال يقول : اذكروا اسم اهلل عز وجل الراوي : جابر بن عبداهلل املحدث : مسلم املصدر : صحيح مسلم الصفحة أو الرقم: 2012 خالصة حكم املحدث : صحيح When the wings of the night spread, or evening comes, keep your small children inside, because the Devils spread at that time, and when that time passes, let them go, and close the doors while mentioning the name of Allah, because the shaitan does not open closed doors. And tie your water skins, and mention the name of Allah over them, and cover your vessels, and mention the name of Allah over them, even if you only keep something over them, and extinguish your lamps. الوضوء و الصالة عند الغضب و الشهوة Make wudoo and pray at times of anger and desires تجن ب فضول الكالم و النظر Avoid from talking nonsense and suppress your curiosity تجن ب األماكن الخربة و النجسة الخالية من اإلنس Avoid demolished, deserted and dirty places, which are not inhabited by people تطهير البيوت من الصور التماثيل الكالب أو األجراس purify your houses from pictures, statues, dogs or bells The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : ال ت د خ ل امل ال ئ ك ة ب ي ت ا ف يه ت م اث يل أ و ت ص او ير. صحيح مسلم حديث # 2112 Angels do not enter the house in which there are portrayals or pictures. The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم also said : ال ت د خ ل امل ال ئ ك ة ب ي ت ا ف يه ك ل ب و ال ص ور ة. صحيح مسلم حديث # a 2106 Angels do not enter the house in which there are dogs pictures.

11 The Messenger of Allah صلى اهلل عليه و سلم said : ال ت ص ح ب امل ال ئ ك ة ر ك ب ا م ع ه م ج ل ج ل. سنن النسائي حديث # 5219 The angels do not accompany a caravan that has small bells with them.
