2 If you have limited time or have visited Kinnaur before, then you should try our 8 days package which starts from Manali, takes you through the high passes into Spiti valley and then you finally come back down and end in Manali. This is a complete action packed trip making sure the important places in Spiti are covered at the right pace. This trip disconnects you from the rest of the world the moment you leave Manali and takes you to a journey to explore within; a journey that will change the way you look at life.

3 Day 1 Manali and Around Reach Manali early in the morning by taking an overnight bus from Delhi. Check-in and take rest. This day is to get used to the altitude and to help you acclimatize. You can go for a walk through Old Manali, do some shopping, withdraw money if you need to, eat a good meal and get ready for the adventure ahead. Night s stay is in Manali

4 Day 2 Manali to Kaza via Rohtang Pass (220 Kms/ Hrs) The adventure begins as we leave Manali and head to the Rohtang Pass. Spend sometime at the pass and head to Spiti valley. Once you cross Gramphoo, the stunning beauty of Spiti valley will leave you speechless. High snow capped mountains, dry and rugged terrain, many waterfalls crossing the non-existent roads, the rough Chandra river these are some of the things that will be waiting for you. Meet Chacha and Chachi at Chandra Dhaba and head to Kaza. Relax in Kaza

5 Day 3 Kaza to Kye & Khibber & Back (40 Kms approx./ 2 Hrs) Take the morning easy and walk through Kaza village if you are feeling up to it. After breakfast we shall head to Kye Monastery and Khibber Village. Kye monastery is on top of a mountain overlooking the Spiti valley and a huge river bed. It is also the main learning centre for Lamas following Geluk sect of Buddhism. Kye houses approximately 100 odd monks. We shall climb a little further and visit Khibber Village- which was once the world s highest village. There will be a picnic for lunch on the river bed.

6 Day 4 Kaza to Tabo & Dhankar (65 Kms/ 2.5 Hrs) Take the morning easy and head out to visit the Ajanta of the Himalayas - The Tabo Monastery which is currently close to 1000 years old. The murals, thankas and paintings are believed to have been made in a single night by the Gods themselves. You can also hike to the meditation caves, if time permits. Visit Dhankar Monastery - Seat of the King in ancient times - the most beautiful setting of a monument which hangs on a cliff and overlooks the confluence of Spiti and Pin River. You can hike to Dhankar lake, if your lungs permit. Stay overnight in Tabo

7 Day 5 Tabo to Sangam, Mudh, Langza (90 kms/4 hrs) Take the morning easy and head to Pin Valley- home to Snow Leopards, Siberian Ibex and a strong hold of Buchen Lamas. We shall visit Khungri Monastery on the way to Mudh (last village in Pin Valley). Spend some time around Mudh and head to Langza for a homestay. Langza at 4300 meters is famous for its fossils and a statue of Buddha overlooking the mountain ranges. Stay in a homestay and see the life of locals at this high altitude.

8 Day 6 Langza to Komic, Chandra Tal (125 kms/5 hrs) Early morning, we drive to Chandra Tal- The lake of the moon after a short visit to Komic- the highest monastery in Asia. We shall cross Lohsar village and Kunzum Pass on our way to Chandra Tal. Hike to Chandra Tal lake is 20 mins from the barricade. This lake is not as big as the ones in Ladakh, but it is sure to leave you speechless. We don t have words to describe it. The night s stay is at the Parasol camps.

9 Day 7 Chandra Tal to Manali (120 kms/7 hrs) This is the last day of your trip in the secluded beauty of Spiti before you see civilization again. Gaze at the mountains as we approach the hustle and bustle of Rohtang Pass and Manali. You can spend some time at Rohtang if your schedule permits. Stay in Manali

10 Day 8 Manali and Back Take the morning easy. Have a nice breakfast in the café at Old Manali. You can also visit the Hidimba Temple, Manu Temple or Vashist OR simply relax next to the river. Take an afternoon bus for Delhi. Trip ends here in the afternoon

13 REVIEWS Of course what made our trip in this beautiful but hostile topography a rocking success was the team of Incredible Spiti (Mr Vishesh Shourie). These guys know thier terrain inside out! Special mention to our driver who negotiated those tricky hairpin bends which elan and style! At Kaza, I would recommend staying at Sakya Abode (Kunphen). While the facilities are basic, Mr. Tsering Bodh (owner) makes sure that all his guests are looked after and attended to. The added incentive is playing audience to him when he is narrating the local folklore :) Normally I do like to plan my trip myself, but one day I stumbled over this website of Incredible spiti run by two fine persons Vishesh Shourie and Tsering Bodh and I decided to take their help to ensure a smooth trip and they didn t prove us wrong, they not only helped in customizing our trip according to our wishes starting from the choice of stays, places to visit but also gave us an insight which only a local could have. At times when you wanted to change existing place from the itinerary, then they come with dynamic itinerary(pretty Cool). This is a lot helpful for us during our trip. We had cancelled one hotel and shifted to the other. For this we were reimbursed the money for that hotel. Both are credible. While I was there, the Pin side had flooded away and my mountaineer friend group were headed that side. Incredible Spiti team informed them well in time - which was a huge relief as many people had washed away, and also they helped arranging things for my friends even though they were not using their services. A lot of travel agencies call themselves expert in Spiti - but this is the only team I saw at work while I was there. The success of my trip owes a great deal to Vishesh Shourie and his team's meticulous planning, good selection of vehicle and hotels and a continuous drive to ensure that we had a great time. It was also wonderful to see how they handled a last minute change in itinerary owing to the closure of Kunzum La. Without them we would have been probably stuck.
