Tiwari Mr. Aditya Ojha No. of Students: 165 Student of TIAS at Manali Objectives: To enhance the knowledge of students by letting them implement the theory into actual practice. To help the students to gain first hand information regarding functioning & production process of the industry. To enhance the knowledge of photography and creating documentary ability of BJ(MC) students. To correlate theoretical knowledge with real time practice of the company.

3 Introduction on Industrial Visit and Educational Tour: Tecnia Institute of Advanced Studies organized four-days and three nights educational tour from to for MBA, MCA, BJ(MC) and BBA students. 165 students participated in this tour along with Seven faculty members. Manali at an altitude of 2,050 m (6,726 ft) in the Beas River Valley is a hill station nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley. It is located about 270 km (168 miles) north of the state capital, Shimla. Manali with a population of approx. 30,000 is administratively a part of the Kullu district. The small town is the beginning of an ancient trade route to Ladakh and from there over the Karakoram Pass on to Yarkand and Khotan in the Tarim Basin. History: In ancient times, the valley was sparsely populated by nomadic hunters known as 'rakshas'. The next arrivals were the shepherds who arrived from the Kangra Valley and settled to take up agriculture. Some of the earliest inhabitants of the region are the 'naur' or 'nar', which is a caste unique to the Kullu valley. Only a few naur families are known to exist now. A naur family in the village Soyal near Haripur on the west bank of Manali was famous for the vast land they owned and their practice of having 'rakshas' as their labourers. Geography : Manali is located at N, E, about 40 km (25 mi) north of Kullu town. The town ranges in elevation from 1,800 m (5,900 ft) to 2,000 m (6,600 ft) in the uppermost "Old Manali" section. Demographics : Manali is a small town with a population originating from around India. As of 2001 India census, Manali had an official population of 6,265. Males constituted 64% of the population and females 36%. Manali had an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 80%, and female literacy was 63%. 9% of the population was under six years of age. Climate: The climate in Manali is predominantly cold during winters, and moderately cool during summers. The temperatures range from 4 C (39 F) to 20 C (68 F) over the year. The average temperature during summer is between 04 C (39 F) and 15 C (59 F), and between 15 C (5 F) and 05 C (41 F) in the winter.

4 Day -1:(31-Oct-15) Assembled at Tecnia institute for Advanced studies at 6:00 pm and departure to Manali. Students assembled for trip to manali Day -2 (1- Nov- 15): On second day of the visit students were visited to The four-story, wooden Hidamba Devi Temple,Vashishtha temple and Ram Mandir, which are in the middle of a nearby deciduous forest, or take a medicinal soak in the hot springs burbling.then the students went to the Club House of Manali where they enjoyed various indoor activities. At night in Hotel they enjoyed DJ. Students enjoying DJ party at night Day-3(2- Nov- 15) On third day of the visit students went to Rohtang Paas. There the students undergo various activities like Mountaineering, technicalities of photography by BJ(MC) and other students and enjoyed snow falls over there. And at night in Hotel they enjoyed Bon fire.

5 Students at Rohtang Students enjoying bonfire at night Day-4(3- Nov- 15) On the last day of the visit students after enjoying River Rafting in the River Beas at Kullu, the students went to Saii Shawl Industries (Handloom Industry) to understand their working and learn how to implement the theoretical knowledge into practical practice based on current scenario. Learning Outcome This visit provides hands on practical exposure to the students for making their professional career in Business Management and Media industry in journalism and mass communication. Students learn the process of small scale industry.they had seen the actual processing of production of handloom industry. So they understand the production system, storage system and warehousing, logistics and also controlling of the raw material. Probable questions to be asked by the students with the company people about the production process & some questions related to logistics & marketing Strategy of the company to which they answered satisfactorily. This relates them with theory. BJ(MC) students gets the exposure for capturing the historical places and real life coverage of natural beauty. They had made the documentary of the various site scenes. Student Feedback: It was a great learning experience that increased the confidence level by leaps and bounds. Such tour is very helpful for the implementation of theoretical approach in practical way by understanding the production system, storage system and warehousing, logistics and also controlling of the raw material. Exposure for capturing the historical places and real life coverage of natural beauty helped a lot in sharpening the media and photography skills. The documentary made of the various site scenes provided a lot of learning experience.

7 Excerpts from those who accompanied the students during the visit: Dr. Namita Mishra: The motive of the Industrial tour was to excel. It gave students an exposure to know the different functions of industrial unit. The students should encourage & motivated for such type of industrial tour in future. Such tour is very helpful for the implementation of theoretical approach in practical way which is part of Curriculum. Mr. Varun Kumar: Educational tour is very beneficial as it is an exposure for the students how to apply and understand theoretical knowledge into practice and various aspects of company & industry as well. Dr. Surbhi Jain: This Industrial visit helps in induction of Sai Shawl Factory`s various functions including Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Materials, and Research & Development. It helps to develop Technical excellence from the onset of an individual's visit at the company. Mr. Ram Prakash Tiwari : I want to express more but due to lack of space and time limitations I am expressing my views about recently organized Manali tour in short. The trip is very good and gives us lots of opportunity to know each other. In my opinion the tour was excellent due to some reasons, such as the arrangements made by the tour operator was excellent, secondly the team of faculty members was very good we became very good friends and came to know about each other. Apart from these things the tour provided many experiences to the students which surely enhance their knowledge. I will give a 5 star rating to the tour.
