10 Statement of Faith Pusch Ridge Christian Academy is a ministry of the Catalina Foothills Church (CFC) in Tucson, Arizona and is therefore subject to the governing authority of the Session (elder board) of CFC. CFC holds to the classic formations of Presbyterian theology that came out of the Reformation period: The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We believe that the Bible, as comprised by the Old and New Testaments, is the only written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is our infallible and divine authority in all matters of faith and life. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance, and equal in power and glory. We believe in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. Jesus Christ is the sole mediator between God and man. We believe that salvation is by God alone as He sovereignly chooses those He will save. We believe His choice is based on His grace, not on any human individual merit or foreseen faith. We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith alone. We believe that faith without works is dead. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe that at death, the souls of believers pass immediately into glory, and that their bodies rest in the grave until the resurrection when these bodies will be glorified and reunited with the souls in the presence of the Lord forever. Unbelievers will be eternally separated from God in the judgment. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people not simply as individuals but as in successive generations according to His covenant promises. 10

11 Statement on Marriage, Gender and Sexuality Statements of Belief Pusch Ridge Christian Academy (PRCA) believes that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen 1:26-27). Rejection of one s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. PRCA believes that the term marriage has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. PRCA believes that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10). PRCA believes that in order to preserve the function and integrity of PRCA and to provide a biblical role model to its constituency and the community, it is imperative that all parties utilizing PRCA facilities agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22). PRCA believes that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11). PRCA believes that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the policies of PRCA. Statement on Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct PRCA believes that the Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of mankind and is the sole and final source of all that PRCA believes. PRCA is a mission of the Catalina Foothills Church (CFC) in Tucson, Arizona and is therefore subject to the governing authority of the Session (elder board) of CFC. The doctrinal standards of CFC are set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith along with the Larger and Shorter Catechisms of this Confession. Additionally, the form of government, the rules of discipline and the directory of worship of CFC are set forth in its Book of Church Order. Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life PRCA believes that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. It is PRCA policy to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps. 139). 11
