Life Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matthew 14:14 Life Point: Trust God. Item 1: Teaching Picture Item 14 & 19: Bible Markers 3 s Pre K -CD Sing Together Sing the following words to the tune Mary Had a Little Lamb : Jesus taught us how to live, how to live, how to live. Jesus taught us how to live, on the mountainside. Move to Group Time Comment that Jesus and His helpers walked up the side of a mountain. Invite the kids to pretend they are walking up a hill as they make their way to the group-time area. Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 3 Ask the boys and girls to listen closely to the story to hear some important things Jesus told the people. Thank God for Jesus, who came to teach us how to live. Mention in your prayer that we are to trust God. Art Center: Make a green collage. Supplies provided: Various green craft supplies, Bible verse printed on green cardstock. Give each child a green sheet of cardstock with this week s Bible verse printed on it. Provide each table with an assortment of green items for their collage, such as yarn, construction paper and tissue paper. Encourage the class to use the different pieces to decorate their collage. Talk about how in today s lesson, Jesus often taught large groups outside. Play a Follow-The-Leader game Guide the children to sit on the floor in a circle. Tell them to copy what you do. Clap a rhythm and encourage the children to clap the same rhythm. Direct the children to do other actions such as patting their head, patting their legs, or snapping their fingers. Allow the kindergartners to take turns being the leader. Continue playing until parents arrive. Give each child a specific task for cleanup. To the tune Mulberry Bush sing: This is the way we clean the room, clean the room, clean the room. This is the way we clean the room, when we come to church. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Call attention to the One Conversation side of the Kids Activity Page. Explain to parents that this page is a resource for weekly family Bible study. Tell the parents something special about their child that made him or her a joy to teach today.

Item 1: Teaching Picture Item 14 & 19: Bible Markers 3 s Pre K -CD 3 s - Pre K Kids Activity Page Transition Activity Find several Bibles of different sizes and outline them on a large sheet of paper. Invite the kids to match each Bible to its outline. Open each Bible and show a child that the Bibles are the same inside (with the same books and chapters), no matter how different they look outside. Comment that we learn about Jesus from the Bible. Talk About the Bible Story Page 11 Open your Bible to Matthew 5 as you begin to tell the Bible Story. Keep the Bible open as you use an expressive voice to tell the story. Life Verse Help the boys and girls learn the signs for the Life Verse: Jesus (touch middle fingers to the palms of opposite hands) loved (cross arms over chest) people (point outward to people) and helped (move open hand forward with fist in the hand) them (point out to people). Say the verse several times to help the kids practice it. Thank you, God, for Jesus who came to teach us how to live. Art Center: Make a leaf print. Supplies provided: Leaf patterns from CD, Bible verse strip, stamp pads and one manila sheet of construction paper per child. Give each child a manila sheet of paper and glue the Bible verse strip on the bottom. Talk about how in today s lesson, and show the teaching picture of Jesus teaching large groups outside. Show children how to press a leaf pattern on a stamp pad and press it on the manila paper. Encourage the class to use the different leaf patterns to decorate their page. Play Musical Chairs Arrange the chairs in a circle; remove one chair. Play the music as the kids march around the circle. After the music stops, the kids find a seat. Say the Life Verse with the child left standing. Give each child a specific task for cleanup. Play the Follow (CD track 1) as children clean up. Give each child a Take Home Sheet. Explain to parents that this page is a resource for weekly family Bible study.

God loves people and takes care of them. Life Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matthew 14:14 Life Point: God provides for us. Item 2: Teaching Picture Sing Together To the tune Mary Had a Little Lamb, sing: (1) God takes care of people, of people, of people. God takes care of people. He takes good care of me. (2) God gave me *a family, family, family. God gave me a family. He takes good care of me. *Substitute: good food to eat, good teachers, clothes to wear, a pet to love, some friends at church. Move to Group Time Invite the children to crawl like a baby, take big steps like a man, or fly like a bird as they go to group time. Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 5 Open your Bible to Matthew 5. Holding the Bible open in your lap, tell the Bible story. When you talk about the birds, have them flap their arms. When you mention flowers, they can stretch arms up. Thank God for taking care of people. Ask God to help us remember to depend on Him. Thank Him for food, clothes, parents, and places to live. Art Center: Make God Provides Plate Tip: Precut 1 paper plate in half Supplies provided: 3 Jumbo craft sticks per child, die-cut boy & girl, die-cut bird #7, die-cut apple, two paper plates per child and Bible verse strip. Give each child 1 paper plate and a paper plate that s been cut in half Staple plates together. Provide each table with craft sticks and Bible verse strip. Give each child one of each item to glue on each craft sticks. Encourage the glue the Bible verse strip in the middle of the plate. Talk about how in today s lesson how God takes care of the birds in the air, and to people He provides food and clothes to wear. Play A Game Suggest the children pantomime different actions for others to guess. They might play out brushing teeth, stirring batter, kneading dough, washing dishes, eating spaghetti, walking the dog, or getting dressed. Stand with the child and help her demonstrate each motion. Talk about ways God cares for people. Send today s Kids Activity Page home with parents, and any pictures the children made. Mention that the take home is designed for their family s use this week.

When children arrive, invite each one to join the members of the class as they work to complete the puzzles. As one teacher greets children at the door, the other teacher should become involved with children as they work, talking to them and making sure that everyone is involved in the activity. Talk About the Bible Story Page 15 Open your Bible to Matthew 5 as you begin to tell the Bible Story. Make eye contact with each child as you are telling the story in your own words. Show the teaching picture. Ask questions such as Who taught the people about God s care? What did Jesus say about the birds and flowers? Emphasize that people are more important to God than birds. Learn the Life Point and Life Verse Toss a bean bag to a child. Ask him to name a way God cares for him. Hold up the Bible marker and read the Life Verse. Repeat it with the kids. Ask for volunteers to pray after today s Bible story. Ask the volunteer to ask God to help us have good attitudes that make Him happy. Art Center: God Provides Our Clothes. Supplies provided: t-shirt, hat and 1 shoe die-cut per child, Bible verse strip and sheet of construction paper. Give each child a sheet of construction paper and glue Bible verse strip on the bottom of page. Provide each table with die-cut items for their collage. Encourage the class to use one die of each item to decorate their collage. Remind them that God provides everything we need. Play a Matching Game Page 17 Place cards from the matching game on the floor. Lead the children to look at the cards and find items that match. Ask the kids to tell you who provides these for us. Play the sing a Song to God (CD track 2) as a signal to clean up. Give each child his take-home items. Explain to parents that this page is a resource for weekly family Bible study.

Life Verse: Love others as I have loved you. John 15:12 Life Point: Jesus loves all people and so should we. Item 3: Teaching Picture Move to Group Time Suggest that everyone wearing red hop to group time. Anyone wearing blue may crawl, and anyone wearing black or brown may walk backward to group time. Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 7 Always use a Bible opened to the correct reference when telling the Bible story. Mention that the Bible is full of stories about God and Jesus. Sing Together To the tune Mulberry Bush, sing: Jesus taught about God s love, About God s love, about God s love. Jesus taught about God s love. God loves and cares for people. Thank You, God, for Jesus. Thank You that Jesus told people about Your love for us. Art Center: Paint With Wet Chalk. Supplies provided: Colored chalk, Bible verse strip, 3 foam bowls per room and one sheet of construction paper per child. Give each child a sheet of construction paper and glue the Bible verse strip on the bottom. Provide each table with an assortment of colored chalk and one small bowl of water per table. Encourage the class to use the different chalk colors and dip in the bowl then mark the paper. Talk about how in today s lesson, the woman came to the well to get water. Play Bible Verse Hop Supplies provided: One sheet of colored construction paper per class. Print each word of the Life Verse on a separate sheet of paper. Lay the papers on the floor in a circle and tape them in place. Invite a child to hop around the circle as you read the words aloud. Show the kids John 15:12 in the Bible. Play a Listening Game Just as the woman listened to Jesus, the children must listen to you to play this game. Give instructions such as If you are a girl, stand up. If you are 3 years old, sit on the floor. If you are a boy, walk around the circle. If you are 4 years old, trade places with a friend. Continue the game until everyone has had several opportunities to move. Send home with each child any artwork he has done today. As you say good-bye, call each child by name and state that you are glad he came to church today.

Art Center: Make a Colored Water Painting Supplies provided: White construction paper, various colored tissue squares, paint brushes, Bible verse strip, several small plastic /foam bowls per room. Give each child a sheet of white construction paper. Separate tissues by color and provide the table with small bowls. Encourage the class to place the like colored tissues in one bowl. Let them use the colored water to paint. Talk about how in today s lesson, Jesus knew the woman came to the well for water but Jesus helped her know about God too. Build a Well With Blocks Lead the children to build a well using small blocks. Show them how they can use a cup from the Living Center to pretend to draw water from the well. As Jesus loved, we are to love others. Life Verse: Jesus loved people and helped them. Matt 14:14 Life Point: Jesus loves children. Item 4: Teaching Picture Sing Together To the tune Are You Sleeping? : Jesus told us, (repeat). I love you, (repeat). Jesus said, I love you ; (repeat). Yes, He did; (repeat). Move to Group Time Ask the children to take giant steps to group time when they hear you sing the chorus of Jesus Loves Me. Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 9 Open your Bible to Mark 10. Explain that the story is found in the Book of Mark, and show the teaching picture. Thank You, God, for Jesus. Thank You that we are special to Jesus and that He loves us. Art Center: Heart Headband. Supplies provided: medium red die-cut heart per child, Bible verse, and trips of red construction paper for headband. Give each child strips of paper and one heart die-cut. Provide each child a die-cut heart and help them make a headband with the strips. Encourage the class to glue the heart and the Bible verse strip on the headband. Talk about how in today s lesson. Each one of us is special and Jesus loves each one of us and cares for us. Play a wiggle game. Supplies provided: one lunch sack per class and 15 slips of paper per class. Print each child s name on a slip of paper, and place the slips in a paper bag. Select a name, and invite that child to demonstrate her favorite way to wiggle. Encourage the group to imitate her actions. Draw another name from the bag and continue the game. Assign a task for each child to complete. Work with a preschooler who is not involved, giving specific instructions such as putting crayons back in the crayon box or picking up paper that has dropped to the floor. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Call attention to the One Conversation side of the Kids Activity Page. Explain to parents that this page is a resource for weekly family Bible study.

Supplies provided: Die-cut jumbo red heart, one preprinted sheet and Bible verse strip. Give each child a heart, picture and Bible verse strip. Provide each table with glue sticks and crayons. Encourage the class to color the picture then glue on the heart and Bible verse strip. Talk about the Bible Life Verse and say it together as a class. Play Mirror Game page 24 Help the children find a partner and face each other. One child pretends to be a mirror and copies every movement and facial expression of the partner. Perhaps suggest scenarios. Ask: How would you look after a long car ride? How would you look when you met a favorite relative? After a minute, change roles. Tell each child that he is special and that Jesus loves him. Assign a task for each child to complete. Work with a preschooler who is not involved. Give each child his take-home items. John 15:12 Life Point: Caring Jesus Item 5: Teaching Picture 3 s Pre K Kids Activity Page Sing Together - page BTH 12 To the tune Row, Row, Row Your Boat sing: Jesus said to love others as He loves us. Jesus said to love others as He loves us. Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 11 Open your Bible to Luke 19:1-10. Explain that the story is found in the Book of Luke, which is in the part of the Bible called the New Testament., thanking God for His Son, Jesus. Invite the children to add to the prayer. As you close the prayer, thank Jesus for loving people and helping them. As the children complete the Bible-learning activities, mention that we should love others just as we love ourselves. Art Center: Jesus loves my family heart. Supplies provided: Die-cut of jumbo red heart and family diecut, one 9x12 white sheet of construction paper, Bible verse strips. Give each child die-cuts and Bible verse strip. Encourage the class to glue the heart to the construction paper. Glue family die-cuts across heart Let the child glue the Bible verse strip in the location they choose. Talk about how in today s lesson, Jesus loved people and wanted to help them. Build a Village As the kids build with blocks, talk about when Jesus went to visit Zacchaeus in his house. Take time to review today s Bible story. Tell the boys and girls that God wants everyone, in every house, to know about His love. Walk around the room and announce that it is time to clean up. Play I Can Do The Right Thing CD (track 9) as the children clean. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Emphasize to each parent how much you have enjoyed working with his child today.

Follow the directions provided on page 27. Art Center : Zaccaheus in the tree. Supplies provided: Die-cut of small man and brown tree, one 9x12 light blue sheet of construction paper, Bible verse strips. Give each child both die-cuts and glue the man in the tree. Encourage the class to glue the tree to the construction paper. Glue the Bible verse to the bottom of the paper. Talk about how in today s lesson, Jesus loved people and wanted to help them. Build Houses With Blocks Invite the kids to build a town of houses. Use circular blocks for trees. As they build the town, comment that Jesus told Zacchaeus about God s love. Play A Follow-The-Rhythm Of A Song Game (CD Track 8) Play Let Us Love One Another (CD track 8). Invite the kids to stand and then squat to the music. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Call attention to the One Conversation side of the Kids Activity Page. Explain to parents that this page is a resource for weekly family Bible study. Life Verse: Love others as I have loved you. John 15:12 Life Point: Jesus wants people to love one another. Item 6: Teaching Picture 3 s Pre K CD Sing Together To the tune Three Blind Mice, sing: Jesus said, Remember Me. (Sing 2 times.) Remember all of the things I did. Remember how I taught you to live. Jesus said, Remember Me. (Sing 2 times.) Talk About the Bible Story Page BTH 13 Hold open your Bible to Matthew 26: Have the teaching picture ready for children to see as you tell Bible Story. : Thank You, God, for Jesus. Thank You that we can remember Jesus and the things He did. Art Center: Special Supper Wheel Supplies provided: 2 large (dinner size) paper plates per child, Bible verse strip, preprinted picture of Jesus, bread, vessel, paper fastener. Give each child one paper plate, and one paper plate with a pie shape cut out, preprinted pictures. Encourage the children to color the preprinted pictures. Show them how to glue the pictures to the whole plate. Help them place the second plate on top and place the paper fastener in the center of the plate fastening to the back. Show them how to turn the wheel so it they can tell the story again of the special supper. Play What is missing? Choose five or six small items from the room and give the children time to remember the items. When they close their eyes or turn their backs, remove one item. When they look again, challenge the boys and girls to remember what was there and name what is missing. Suggest the children work with a friend to put away the materials. Mention that working together at cleanup time is one way of showing the love of Jesus to others. Say the Life Verse Love others as I have loved you. John 15:12. Give each child his take-home items. Encourage the kids to tip-toe to the story area. Talk About the Bible Story - Page 31 Place the teaching picture in the story area and open your Bible to Matthew 26. Prompt the preschoolers to listen for what Jesus wanted His helpers to remember. Learn the Life Verse and the Life Point Page 31 Ask the kids to complete the sentence given on the page. Follow the rest of the instructions for this activity. Art Center: Make A Paper Plate Collage Supplies provided: Jesus Collage picture, paper plate, yarn, glue sticks and Bible verse strips. Let s make a picture of Jesus to remember Him. Lead the children to use the picture of Jesus to make a paper plate collage. Have the children glue the Bible verse strip on the plate. Punch a hole at the top of the plate and help them thread the yarn pieces thru the hole to tie for a hanger. Jesus wants us to remember Him and the things that He did. Play A Movement Game Slowly give two or three short directions for the children to follow such as Pat your head and blink your eyes. Continue giving directions in groups of two or three. End the game with Turn around, sit down, and look at me. Play The Bible Tells About Jesus (CD track 6) to signal that it is time to clean up. Walk around the room and help the kids clean the areas where they have been working. Give each child his take-home items. Make sure each child has a Kids Activity Page. Tell the parents something special about their child. Tell them today they learned Jesus was special too.
