1 Welcome! In this summer s worship series, Alive, we ll explore the work of the Holy Spirit. Understanding the Holy Spirit (also known as Spirit of God, Holy Ghost, Breath of God, Paraclete, and a bunch more) is essential to understanding God s work and will. God; in communion with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and people like us; has made a new spiritual community where all people are welcome. Welcome to the Kingdom of God! The image of walking is everywhere in Scripture. Walk in the light. Walk in love. Be like the disciples and walk in the footsteps of Jesus, your rabbi. What does it mean to walk in the Spirit? 5 Prayer of the Day God of life, send your spirit to this place. Teach us to walk with you, one step at a time, for you have promised to meet us along the road. 7 Hymn of the Day: We Know That Christ Is Raised Hymnal #449 Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Father is a specific and accessible image of God that Jesus gave us. Jesus did not limit God to this image. References to God as Creator, Parent, Mother, Counselor can be equally as helpful and valid. Another translation of catholic church is church universal 7
