1 Abraham s Tent Abraham s Tent is a local soup kitchen designed to serve low-income families, the elderly, and the homeless in our community. It was established decades ago and has been a thriving non-profit organization since. There is an abundance of help from businesses in our community and a continuing appreciation for all that the people involved with the organization contribute. A soup kitchen is an establishment which offers meals to the needy for free or at very low cost. Soup kitchens can be found catering to the poor all over the world, and many also offer a variety of other support services to their patrons. In many instances, visitors to a soup kitchen do not need to meet any eligibility requirements; this provides an array of people with meals, clothes, and other forms of assistance. Unlike some participating in the advancement of Abraham s Tent, we ve made it more important to have a personal connection with the people attending; to see them as family just as we see each other. In that, we ve grown a strong relationship with the children and this ignited the desire to have their input in our attempt to come together as a city and make a difference.

2 The Inspired Work The artwork being sold at Lake Charles Toyota has been created by local artists, art majors, and local photographers in Lake Charles. All of their work is inspired by the children that attend Abraham s Tent. The concept of the project was to take each child and sit them down quietly, when asked What does love look like to you? They were all given the opportunity to go into as much detail as they saw fit to describe what it means to them. Each artist has one child and for the past few months they ve been working on having their product be the most exact reflection of what the child s depiction of love is; no matter how simple or complex. The children know that their art will be displayed citywide only if it is purchased and are eager to see their work in public. This shows them the support they have from their own community, even when it seems as though they re alone in the struggles they have at such young ages. Initially we had 5 children, as time went by, more of the children wanted to become involved and we ve come to a total of 14 children being the inspiration of work that is the meaning of love. Now that s serving your community. Our proposition to you is to come to our Silent Auction on the date presented and be a part of the family of people displaying these creations in you workplace.

3 The Original Work All of the other works that will be available for purchasing are original pieces by the artists that may fit the theme of your office/workplace. ` These will be separate from the children s pieces but all of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Abraham s Tent The artists will be available if anyone has more questions pertaining to their work.

4 The Raffle Tickets During the auction, as people are mingling, we will be selling raffle tickets for a gift basket of coupons from business around town. These will include: -Fast Food Chains -Bookstores -Restaurants -Laundromats -Coffeehouses Etc.

5 The Bracelets There will also be an opportunity to purchase Abraham s Tent Awareness Bracelets. As a community of God fearing artists, we and Mrs. Pearl, the coordinator at Abraham s Tent have derived a color scheme and purpose for awareness of the continuing struggle in our community. Although we may feel as if we are poor and lacking in many ways, because of Jesus s sacrifice, our spirits are made rich and gleams brighter than freshly refined gold. Each bracelet will be a mix of BROWN, RED, and GOLD, symbolizing the dirt we once were, the blood that freed us, and the gold we are more precious than. These will be available for managers and their staff to purchase individually if they please.

6 We are all more than honored to be given the opportunity to do this as a community. Having an impact on one of the most contributive organizations that is focused on assisting people, we see no reason to miss out on helping them.
