1 BRIGHT STAR COMMUNITY CHURCH What are you worried about! Matthew 6:25 (NIV) 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

5 The more complicated things that we may worry about: Car accidents or being injured in one or not able to pay for the insurance after an accident Aging ungracefully and being struck with Alzheimer s or some other debilitating disease Cancer, The price of gas, Criticism from others Losing a job and not being able to find another one Active shooter, Terrorism or Biological Attack which will directly effect us Sexual predators or other evil characters hurting our children and grandchildren

6 Matthew 6:25 34 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

7 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own

8 1. Worry Is Needless There are more important things in life than food and clothing. V. 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

9 2. Worry Is Senseless Nature and the nature of God shows us it is unnecessary V. 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

10 3. Worry Is Useless (vs. 27) It accomplishes no purpose V. 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? V. 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? NIV

11 4. Worry Is Faithless (vs ) It shows lack of faith in your Father V. 28, 29, "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. 12 Believe That God can supply! God does not ignore those who depend on him! He will Show Up!

13 V. 31, So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. So let us not worry about what God has already taken care of. Worry shows a lack of faith and understanding of God.

14 Worry is not just silly but also sinful. Worry shows that we are not trusting God as our provider. If you say that you trust someone but then by your actions show that you do not then you are not trusting. It represents what unbelievers do and shows that we do not trust God. Someone once said "If we worry, we can't trust; if we trust, we can't worry." God is faithful in providing for His children.

15 V. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. There are real challenges God wants us to pursue and worrying keeps us from them. He wants us to pursue Him and His Kingdom, His Righteousness, Keep Him First in our lives Do your part and trust God to do his In verse 33 Jesus tells us how we ought to respond to crisis and how God will in turn respond to us. Read Matthew 6:33 with me

16 V. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Living one day at a time keeps us from being consumed with worry.

17 Phil 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. It says to give your worry to God and fill your heart with thankfulness.

18 Don't worry; It is Needless, It is Senseless, It is Useless and It is Faithless Make the things that matter most to God, the things that matter most to you. When you do, God will look after everything else for you!

19 - Align your priorities with God s priorities - Never forget you are more important to God than anything else in the world - If you seek God s interests first, he is bound to deliver for you and wouldn t have it any other way.
