1 MY HOPE IS IN THE LORD V.1 My hope is in the Lord Who gave Himself for me, And paid the price of all my sin at Calvary. 4 1 JOHN 1: What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-- 2 and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us-- 3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.

He cannot enter a second time into his mother s womb and be born, can he? 5 Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

7 JOHN 1 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

8 1 JOHN 1b 4 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. 5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

9 3 JOHN v.3 For I was very glad when brethren came and testified to your truth, that is, how you are walking in truth. 4 I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth. Not walk the talk, but, more precisely, walking in the real world, the reality, which God created.

10 1 JOHN 1c 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

11 WHAT IS TRUTH? Truth is an accurate description of a reality 1) Truth is for revealing a reality Truth is not the Reality! 2) Truth s goal is to enable our minds to comprehend a reality. Both Light and Truth have this goal 3) To know what is the reality, we

12 DISTINGUISH BETWEEN TRUTH and REALITY 1 John 3:1 See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

14 CONCERN FOR WALKING IN TRUTH not: Walking in Truth. This is a natural, automatic thing but: Walking in Truth. We frequently walk in the false, believing it to be truth. We accept truths which are not reliable

15 EVERYONE WALKS IN THE REALITY HE PERCEIVES Our realities are formed by the truth we believed. (demonstrated by The Matrix) Unreliable truth, will form a perceived reality which is false. Where can we find Reliable Truth, truth that does describe reality accurately? Why would God not be the Reliable Source for truth?

16 MISLED BY MAN S TRUTH Matt.7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. "For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Why do so many enter into the broad way? What will it take for you to enter through the narrow gate and stay on the narrow way? WILL POWER and DISCIPLINE? NO! Having reliable truth and taught by it.

17 A RELIABLE SOURCE FOR TRUTH IS ESSENTIAL Unreliable truth, will produce a perceived reality which is false. 2 Tim.3:16, All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

23 REVIEW The function and purpose of truth is to reveal the reality for our comprehension. Reality is where we live, our world. The truth is not the reality. The truth does not make the reality. The reality determines what is the truth. To comprehend the reality (undeceived) we must have a reliable source for truth.

24 ROMANS 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. NASV

27 A BIBLICAL METAPHOR FOR TRUTH Metaphors or Allegories contain a quality for identity. Often it is found in the purpose of the metaphor Allegories, like parables is for teaching Metaphors, are comparisons used for identification. The identification is not literal, but functional I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
