Heaven the full joy of living with God forever God the Father invites ever90ne to the happiness ofhis great love on this Earth and in Heaven forever. Jesus told this stor9 to help people understand that God the Father wants ever90ne to enjo9 this happiness. God's Word The Wedding Feast Storyteller: A king gave a wedding feast for his son. When everything was ready, the king sent his servants out to invite the guests. Servants: The feast is ready. It's time to come and celebrate. Three people: We can't come. We have a lot of work to do. We are very busy. Storyteller: The servant brought this message home to the king.
3 King: Go out to the highways and byways. Search all the paths and alleys. Tell everyone to come. I want my house bursting with people. Storyteller: The servants did just as the king commanded. They invited everybody to come to the banquet. And many people came. Young and old people came. People who were blind came. People who were strong helped people with crutches. Soon the house was full." Based on Matthew 22:2-10 and Luke 14:16-23 Think 1. Who did the king invite to the party? 2. Who does the king in this story remind you of? 9 = YOUR CHILD LEARNED») This chapter explains that the Eucharist is a taste of the great feast of love and happiness we will have with God in Heaven. God/sWord t Read Revelation 3:20 to find out how Jesus seeks us and responds when we accept his invitation. Catholics Believe Hea ve n is the full joy of living with God forever. The Eucharist is a sign of joy and of what Hea ven will be like. To learn more, go to the Catechism of the Catholic Church # at usccb.org. People of Faith This week, yo ur child met Sai nt Mary Magdalene de Pazz i. She said that Hea ven is more beautiful than anything ever seen. CHILDREN AT THIS AGE») How They Understand Eternal Life in Heaven Secondgraders often have some limited experience with death. Perhaps a pet or a distant relative has died. This is often difficult for them, but they are comforted by the idea that their loved one is with God in Heaven. Their idea of Heaven may be infiuenced by what they ha ve seen in ca rtoon sor other media. For example, they might think people in Heaven live on clouds, have wings, and play harps. It is helpful for them to hear that we are not sure what Heaven looks like, but God promises that everyone there is happy-that it is a place of peace and love. CONSIDER THIS») Have you ever wondered why God created you? You might even won der if God has a plan for your life. "We come to know God's plan for us.not only through an understanding of our human nature and his created order but also because he speaks directly to us:' We must make time to pay attention to God's direction (USCCA, p. 328). LET'S TALK») Ask your child to share one thing they learned about Heaven. Talk about loved ones who have died and how your family remembers and celebratesthem. LET'S PRAY») Dear God, help us to think about Hea ven, like Sai nt Mary Magdalena, and to want to be with you there forever. Amen.
