2 MISSION Mission Statement STATEMENT Calling All Youth! God is love; merciful, abundant in goodness and truth. In His majestic character God has provided us with the most solemn truth ever committed to mortals. This truth is designed to redeem all mankind from our current fallen state. This truth convicts us of Sin, Righteousness and Judgment (John 16:7-11, 13). This truth is the Third Angel s Messages of Revelation 14. The great object of us as youth is to proclaim this message, exalting God and calling the attention of His people to the living truths of His word. The signs of the times and the testimonies of God s prophets are fulfilling before our eyes yet many of us are unaware. The prophetic message entrusted to us is unfolding in history day by day, and hour by hour, the Three Angel s message is in its closing scenes, the message has long been and still remains present truth and a present reality for us as Seventh-Day Adventists with a present truth work that God has entrusted us to do. We are the final generation who are called to lift up, not our own standard, not the standard of this world, but His [God s] standard of truth (Testimonies, Vol. 7, p151). The Lord wants us to run to Him that we might be saved and more than this He wants us to share the everlasting gospel, the Three Angel s Messages as David brings to view in Psalms 71:17 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Young people this ought to be our mission to declare the wondrous works of the Lord, which He has taught us and these newsletters, month after month will demonstrate that it is the Lord through the Holy Spirit that teaches us, and it is the Lord from the book of Genesis through to the book of Revelation that is teaching us on the platform of this glorious light. Our exhortation to you is to study to see if these things are so and to hold fast to that which is true; the present truth that is able to make you wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15). 3 Everyone s Talking about Islam CURRENT AFFAIRS Current Affairs THE SPEECH INTENDED TO START A PROCESS TO RE-ENERGISE THE DIALOGUE WITH THE MUSLIM WORLD Almost nine years since September 11th 2001, and what a change on the world view of Islam!! Sadly, it is not only the world but our view that has changed as God s remnant people as to the role Islam plays in the fulfilment of Bible prophecy. 4th June 2010, President Obama, called for a new beginning in the relation between the US and Muslims, he went on to say there had been years of distrust and both sides needed to make a sustained effort to respect one another and seek common ground. A number of references were made to the Qur an and Obama called on all faiths to live together in peace that resulted in a standing ovation at the university. Then at the White House he went on further to say that the speech intended to start a process to re-energise the dialogue with the Muslim world. In an hour long speech at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and only five days later, Prince Charles urged the world to follow Islamic spiritual principles in order to protect the environment. He said...man s destruction of the world was contrary to the scriptures of all religions - but practically those of Islam. Charles who is a practicing Christian spoke in depth about his own study of the Qur an which, he said, tells its followers that there is no separation between man and nature... In fulfilment of Bible prophecy not only are apostate Protestant churches/leaders no longer protesting Rome (the Roman Catholic Church) but we as Seventh Day Adventists are now being encouraged to follow the spiritual principles and allusions are being made for us to also study the Qur an. The saddest account is that our own church is also pushing the Islamic agenda! In the Seventh Day Adventist Messenger dated 11th June 2010 we were told of the Muslim retreat which took place on 9-11th April 2010 focusing on how this was to relate to those in the Muslim faith, and from the highlights of this occasion it was said to have been blessed to hear Dr Merklin s report on Adventist Muslim Relations work going on around the globe, how people of both faiths are working together on health programmes and education. The article goes even further informing us of how Pastor Petras Bahadu went on to speak of the Mercy in the first chapter of the Qur an, the Faitha - and pointing in the Qur an to how Jesus answers that cry when he, comes as the Mercy of God (Qur an 19 verse 21). Pastor Bahadur was also appointed as the associate director for the General Conference Adventist Muslim Relations Department on 1st July In Early Writings 74 the prophet of the Lord was shown in vision that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord On the 1843 chart we see the role of Islam brought to view under the 5th and 6th trumpets of Bible prophecy. (Revelation 9) In both the 5th and 6th trumpet we see that Islam worked as a destructive power to fulfil the first and second jihad or the first and second woe trumpets. (Revelation 8:13) Now the third jihad has come and gone on September 11, Yet we still continue to touch the unclean (2 Corinthians 6:17) in joining hands with the false prophet; apostate Protestantism in the form of T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar, Rick Warren and all the other false religions including Islam who will wonder after the beast and his image as we are told in Revelation 13:12 and Daniel 11:43. Thus, the wrath of God will be poured out. (Revelation 14:10) So what is our work in the midst of such outright apostasy!? We are to restore the foundations and stand by the truths established by God Himself because truly If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalms 11:3) 3

4 HOLY Holy Spirit SPIRIT Who is the Holy Spirit Isaiah 60:1-3 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. The time has come when, as never before, Seventh-day Adventists are to arise and shine, because their light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon them. {Evangelism 35-36} The prophet of the Lord tells us that this light has come to enable us to arise and shine, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is here upon us now. However, is it being discerned and how can we know for a certainty that it is falling on hearts around? Notice that the word shine also means to be enlightened, or in other words the text can read; arise and be enlightened for thy light is come. Now this sheds more light on the passage as it is clear that we are to be enlightened by the light from the Lord, but this light is not 4 any ordinary light, it is the Glory of the Lord, the outpouring of his Spirit. And we are called to be enlightened by this Glory that arises amidst gross darkness. We are clearly told There is to be in the [Seventh-day Adventist] churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of the heart by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God, they will see only something which in their blindness they think dangerous, something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work according to their ideas and expectations they will oppose the work. Why, they say, should we not know the Spirit of God, when we have been in the work so many years? {Last Day Events 209.3} As a result of continual rebellion against God and partaking of the forbidden fruit (wine of Babylon) as we are told in Isaiah 29:9, not only is the world in darkness but so are God s own people today, Seventhday Adventists. For we cannot see, our eyes have been covered and the prophets, seers and rulers have all been covered (Isaiah 29:10). And so we are partaking of another spirit which ultimately will lead us to ruin. The prophecies in the eighteenth of Revelation will soon be fulfilled. During the proclamation of the third angel s message, another angel is to come down from heaven, having great power, and the earth is to be lightened with his glory. The Spirit of the Lord will so graciously bless consecrated human instrumentalities that men, women, and children will open their lips in praise and thanksgiving, filling the earth with the knowledge of God, and with His unsurpassed glory, as the waters cover the sea. {Marantha 218.1} This is the glory that is being sprinkled and is soon to be outpoured in the form of the fourth angel who is to lighten the earth with His Glory. This glory is the Three Angel s Messages that seals the faithful to receive the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

5 THE FINAL RISE OF THE MAN OF SIN What we fail to realise is that Satan is seeking no longer just to be in the Roman Catholic Church, nor in the apostate churches but in the Seventh Day Adventist Church for this is where God reigns. During 2 6 June 2010 the centennial celebration of the World Missionary Conference was held in Edinburgh. This conference bearing the endorsement of Papal Rome began in 1910 and is recognised and acknowledge by the mainstream Christian community as the vessel which gave birth to the modern ecumenical movement. A movement defined by Ellen White as a union based upon common points of doctrine {Great Controversy 444} and in order for such a union to be established distinct Bible doctrines that distinguish the churches Sister White tell us must necessarily be waived. At this year s conference amongst the hundreds of delegates were leading figures from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, most prominently Ganuone Diop the Director of the Adventist Church Global Mission Study Centre, who co-chaired the conference sessions on integration of theology and mission. So Seventh-day Adventists, who are called to bear a distinct warning message to the world through the voice of leadership, now bear and share a message on strategies and unity with 5

These are the daughters of Mystery Babylon the Great The Mother of Harlots we are told in Great Controversy page 383, for holding onto her corrupt doctrines and traditions. This harlot woman is identified as the masterpiece of Satan, as through this papal power did he accomplish the rising of the man of sin in the church of God through her compromise with heathen nations. {Great Controversy 50} The Adventist church is further warned by the pen of inspiration that in the last remnant of time this masterpiece will reach its full accomplishment. {Great Controversy 561} The man of sin will be so refined into a sophisticated and subtle form he will come into the church nearly undetected. This sequence of events is twofold, as the Man of Sin is beginning his final ascension to assume power he will do so in seeking to conquer both the world and the church in order for Satan to fulfil his true agenda, his boast in Isaiah 14:13...I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the North. What we fail to realise is that Satan is seeking no longer just to be in the Roman Catholic Church nor in the apostate churches, but in the Seventh-day Adventist Church for this is where God reigns. (Psalm 48:1, 2) In the histories of the rise of the Man of Sin Satan changes and refines his form into three phases in order to infiltrate the church and counterfeit the work of Christ. His first phase is as the dragon power, open paganism which was raised to counterfeit the Levitical laws system that God established with the Jewish nation. In his second phase the beast form was to counterfeit the work of Christ as He proceeded in the holy place. Then finally in the third phase as the lamblike beast or the false prophet the man of sin was raised up to deal with the dispensation of the holy spirit, all these we are told are instruments used by Satan in all opposition to Christ and his pure religion. {Great Controversy } Paul counselled the church on the sequence of events that take place in the rising up of the Man of Sin. In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 he writes Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Paul marks distinctively the first steps in the falling away, which in the Hebrew means Apostasia; a defection from truth, apostasy or a forsaking. In order to understand the sequence of this forsaking that allows the rise of the Man of Sin (Papal Rome), we must first understand how this forsaking led to the rise of Pagan Rome, the dragon power (during its first phase), as in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. Matthew 18:16 The First phase under the Dragon power (Pagan Rome) The falling away of the Jewish nation which led to the rise of Pagan Rome occurred in 161BC in their alliance with Pagan Rome, known as the Jewish League. In this union the Jewish nation forsook the commandment of God given in Deuteronomy 7:2 where they were told in no uncertain terms to make no covenant with the heathen nations, as they would lead them away from the Lord, and should they disobey this commandment they were then warned they would surely perish. (Deuteronomy 8:19-20) When this alliance was made by the Jewish nation, Ellen White marks this as the point when the Jewish church became a harlot. {Great Controversy } The purpose for Satan to align himself with the Jewish nation through Pagan Rome was twofold; it was to gain both a political and spiritual conquering. In Daniel 8:9 we are told of the three obstacles that stood in Rome s way of assuming the throne of the world, And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. The Jewish nation at that time inhabited Palestine, which was the pleasant land, translated from the Hebrew to mean the glorious land. Rome s 6

7 Feature The work of Constantine, therefore in conquering the church was to set up a false system of priesthood within the borders of God s jurisdiction and for Satan to fulfil his boast, in setting up the false Sabbath. alliance with the glorious land paved the way for her to overthrow the three obstacles by conquest, first Syria in 65BC, then the Glorious Land (Palestine) fully in 63BC and finally Egypt in 31BC at which point she was given a time (360 years) to rule the world supremely. (Daniel 11:24) Secondly, spiritually in aligning himself with the Jews, Satan aimed to destroy the promise of the Messiah, which we see first attempted through Herod the Roman King. (Revelation 12:1-4; Matthew 2) Through this compromise with a heathen nation, Pagan Rome sat in the seat or temple of God and assumed the authority to command how it was to be run. We are told The Romans claimed the right of appointing and removing the high priest, and the office was often secured by fraud, bribery, and even murder... Thus the priesthood became more and more corrupt. {Desire of Ages 30} Through this Satan s greater purpose was fulfilled as the Jewish nation would finally begin to partake and manifest the spirit of the Dragon. The Jews cultivated a spirit of retaliation. In their hatred of the Romans they gave utterance to hard denunciations, and pleased the wicked one by manifesting his attributes. Thus they were training themselves to do the terrible deeds to which he led them on. {Desire of Ages 310} By partaking of such a spirit this led them further to cry out we have no king but Caesar, (John 19:15) thus claiming the Roman authority as their king in rejection of their promised Messiah and securing his crucifixion. They had now fully placed themselves in such a position that their minds were under the control of Satan, devising their erroneous preconceived ideas of the Redeemer to resist His message of warning and redemption. This resulted in their house being left unto them desolate by Christ, and in their final visitation of judgment with the destruction of Jerusalem in AD70, the Jewish nation was finally cut off from The True Vine. Christ came at such a time of the deepest darkness to stop the church falling completely into the hands of Satan and extracted the remnant, to become the Christian church, that would move with him to the Holy place ministration leaving the rejected Jewish nation to their useless Levitical sacrifices in the outer court, which now came under the reign of the Prince of Darkness. The Second phase under the Beast power (Papal Rome) The same sequence follows in the rise of the Man of Sin in his truest nature in infiltrating the church in its new Christian dispensation. This rise is the primary focus of Paul in his letter to the church, warning them of this new deceptive power. He counselled And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed... (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8) For the mystery of iniquity to rise and fulfil his boast to show himself that he is God, in the Christian church, he didn t walk in using open paganism as the church would undoubtedly recognise that. Therefore in order for Satan to accomplish his purpose Pagan Rome (the Daily) was taken away in order to set up Papal Rome (the Abomination that Maketh Desolate) as brought to view in Daniel 11:31. To overthrow the Christian church and oppose the work of Christ who taketh away the first (Levitical worship), that he may establish the second (Christian church). (Hebrews 10:9) The transformation from the Daily to the Abomination of Desolation began more in earnest in AD323 with the so-called conversion of Emperor Constantine to Christianity. It is at this point that Ellen White marks the compromise of the Christian church which paved the way for the development of the Man of Sin in Christendom. Commenting on this history she says The nominal conversion of Constantine, in the early part of the fourth century, caused great rejoicing; and the world, cloaked with a form of righteousness, walked into the church. Now the work of corruption rapidly progressed. Paganism, while appearing to be vanquished, became the conqueror. Her spirit controlled the church. Her doctrines, ceremonies, and superstitions were incorporated into the faith and worship of the professed followers of Christ. This compromise between paganism and Christianity resulted in the development of the man of sin foretold in prophecy as opposing and exalting himself above God. {Great Controversy 49-50} The work of Constantine, therefore in conquering the church was to set up a 7

8 Feature false system of priesthood within the borders of God s jurisdiction and for Satan to fulfil his boast, in setting up the false Sabbath. In this transition The dragon had given to the beast his power, and his seat, and great authority. That is, Satan then began to work through the papacy, just as he had formerly worked through paganism. {Great Controversy } To complete the trampling down of the law of God, the Beast power, Catholicism conquered politically as he had done in his previous form to assume the world throne in fulfilment of the prophecy of Daniel 11: Papal Rome secured the military arms she needed through an alliance with Clovis King of France, to pluck out the three horns, (three geographic obstacles), as depicted in Daniel 7:8. These were the Heruli, Vandals, and Ostrogoths removed from AD508 to AD538, then the Abomination that Maketh Desolate reigned supremely for an appointed time, of 1260 years from AD538 to (Daniel 7:25) During the dark ages, a time when moral and intellectual paralysis fell upon Christendom, God had his people of truth in the personage of the Reformers. They were called his holy city Revelation 11:2, throughout the time of Papal rule, He was guiding and extracting His children with a developing light of truth, which gained impetus during the years of with the message of the Millerites. Christ came down as told by John in Revelation 10 to give the message power, but the protestant churches that refused to advance with the light of truth as the Jewish nation, fell morally into the hands of the Papacy, Mystery Babylon, for holding onto the spirit of the antichrist through her false doctrine and more so Papal Sabbath. Christ embodied in the judgement message of the Millerites once again as he had done in his first advent extracted a remnant from the fallen church to denominate a people who would move with him to the next dispensation of this ministration to the Most Holy Place. To them, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, he entrusted a special truth to proclaim. 8 The third and final Phase under the false prophet (Apostate Protestantism) Now this sequence of events that took place in the fulfilment of Daniel 11:30-36 is to be repeated The prophecy in the eleventh of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfilment. Much of the history that has taken place in fulfilment of this prophecy will be repeated. {13 Manuscript Releases 393} This final line of prophecy is found in the final six verses of Daniel 11:40-45, the political conquest to overthrow the three obstacles began in 1989 with the overthrow of the Communist USSR through Papal Rome s alliance with the glorious land the USA. The overthrow of the glorious land is moments away as we edge closer to the Sunday Law and then Protestant America will have formed an image of the Roman

9 Feature As with the history of the early Christian church, in joining hands with such a power, Satan sets up his false system of priesthood within the church to manifest his spirit by incorporating it in the faith and worship of the professed followers of Christ. hierarchy. {Great Controversy } Thus the spiritual conquering which goes hand in hand with the political conquest as we have seen from the two previous histories has already begun but are we as God s people aware? Where is this spiritual falling away to take place? It cannot refer to the Romish Church, for that church has been in a fallen condition for many centuries.... The Protestant faith....fell by the same desire which was the curse and ruin of Israel,--the desire of imitating the practices and courting the friendship of the ungodly. {Great Controversy } It is Adventism which remains in these last remnants of time with a special truth, the three angel s message, with which we have forsaken. In 1950 we can highlight a significant apostasy in the writing of this book by the church leadership, Seventhday Adventists Answer Question on Doctrines. In the book central and foundational doctrines of the Adventist church were compromised for the church to be recognised as part of the so-called Christian body. A deadly alliance here was made which in no doubt added to the vantage ground for the Man of Sin to infiltrate the church, in his most highly developed and almost indictable form as the lamblike beast of Revelation 13: This lamb like beast, the Bible also defines as the False Prophet in Revelation 19:20, by the deceptive miracles it performs on behalf of the Dragon who is the same spirit that actuates it. These miracles translated from Greek mean signs or wonders, Paul identifies this same power in 2 Thessalonians 3:9 with the signs and lying wonders to identify the False Prophet form of the Man of Sin. As with the history of the early Christian church, in joining hands with such a power, Satan sets up his false system of priesthood within the church to manifest his spirit by incorporating it in the faith and worship of the professed followers of Christ. How then is this spirit manifested in worship and doctrine? Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. And this is called the moving of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit never reveals itself in such methods, in such a bedlam of noise. This is an invention of Satan to cover up his ingenious methods for making of none effect the pure, sincere, elevating, ennobling, sanctifying truth for this time. {Maranatha 234} In another place we are told:...the Bible is interpreted in a manner that is pleasing to the unrenewed heart, while it s solemn and vital truths are made of no effect. Love is dwelt upon as the chief attribute of God, but it is degraded to a weak sentimentalism, making little distinction between good and evil. God s justice, His denunciations of sin, the requirements of His holy law, are all kept out of sight. The people are taught to regard the Decalogue as a dead letter. Pleasing, bewitching fables captivate the senses and lead men to reject the Bible as the foundation of their faith. {Great Controversy 558} Shall we then say the drums are harmless, shall we then celebrate when our minsters are heading conferences on unity with such a spirit, or shall we then rejoice in worship with the songs of Babylon? We are warned most seriously that Those who become confused in their understanding of the Word, who fail to see the meaning of antichrist, will surely place themselves on the side of antichrist. {7 Bible Commentary 949} We are in the most serious of times, the final dispensation of the work of Christ, the ministry of the Holy Spirit which He has sent to us to testify of Him and do the work of sealing. (Ephesians 4:30) Should we like Ancient Israel, the Early Christian Church or Protestantism allow the False prophet to oppose the sealing work of Christ in our experience and so blind our minds with flawed preconceived ideas to still go further and crucify our Messiah again in the form of His final message of warning of the impending doom? Will we like so many Not having received the love of the truth... be taken in the delusions of the enemy... give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils and will depart from the 9

10 Feature Those who become confused in their understanding of the Word, who fail to see the meaning of antichrist, will surely place themselves on the side of antichrist. {7 Bible Commentary 949} faith. {Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 401} The histories testify of the result, the Jewish nations alliance with Pagan Rome led to her destruction in AD70, France s alliance with Papal Rome ended in the French revolution, both testimonies we are told by Sister White typify the end of the world. {See Great Controversy 36; Education 228.3} Therefore Apostate Adventism in her alliance with the Lamblike Beast will end with her destruction in the outpouring of the final judgement of the plagues, cut off from the true vine. This is why Christ is pointing us back to the book of Daniel to understand the abomination of desolation, so that we can escape the plagues and be extracted as the remnant people. 10

11 QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Questions & Answers QA & How can the sixth head of Revelation 17 be America? I thought it was Atheism. Thank you for your question, in fact this is a whole new study, a whole new article in itself, however I will briefly summarise the answer to this question in this section and in a future edition we will have a whole article dedicated to this topic. Many agree with the fact that the Papacy is the 5th head in Revelation 17, which went down in 1798, now the next player that Satan uses to carry the mystery religion (the Roman Catholic church) is America and not Atheism for Atheism hates the whore and desires to make her desolate. The Bible in conjunction with the spirit of prophecy identifies only three persecuting powers that carry this mystery religion. {See Great Controversy } It was the same year that the Pope received a deadly wound; that this power was to arise from the earth. {See Great Controversy 441} The two horns of the lamb like beast represent Republicanism and Protestantism. It advocates the principles of Christ s word but this beast with lamblike horns spake as a dragon. Note that this history is to be repeated. It was two nations; the Medes and the Persians that destroyed literal Babylon by drying up the river Euphrates. Though Medo-Persia carries the mystery religion, it being the 2nd head of Revelation 17, or the second beast as described in Daniel 7, also fulfils another role in Bible Prophecy. The Lord speaking through the prophet Isaiah typifies Cyrus as Christ using two key characteristics that Christ uses to identify himself, referring to him as Shepherd and anointed. (Isaiah 44:28; 45:1) Now why would the Lord liken himself to a pagan King that also carries this mystery religion spoken of in Revelation 17? Well it is this portion of history, the Lord expects the diligent student of prophecy to align with the events that took place between Though Cyrus was a pagan King, he was used as an instrumental figure to allow the children of Israel to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. (See Ezra 1:1-2) Similar to Cyrus, America is also given a characteristic that symbolises Christ who is the Lamb. America was the gateway that enabled God to rebuild His church again; Spiritual Israel in the modern day glorious land. The constitution of America was built on the fact that Church and State must remain separate. But the Bible in conjunction with the Spirit of Prophecy tells us that she forms the third persecuting power, of the seed of the serpent. She will persecute the saints of the Most High and will enforce Catholic dogmas; she will make an image to the beast.
