2 A Message from Pastor Krueger Come and see what God has done how awesome his works in man s behalf. - Psalm 66:5 Dear Members and Friends, Living Our Mission means walking step by step with God into the future. It is a new time with new opportunities and together we are preparing to take the first steps into that future. As member of our church family I invite you to be a part of an initiative called, Living Our Mission, that will radically improve our church facilities and put us on a course that will allow us to serve our Lord Jesus long into the future. Your sacrificial gifts have the potential to impact our church family today and touch the hearts of future generations as we see the mission field come alive in our own town. There are generations to come that will be told about the Lord and His goodness and it will happen by what we do today as a church family. By improving our church facilities we are making bold preparations to step into our church s future at what could maybe be the most important time in our church s history. 3 A Proud Past! 30 Years and Just Beginning With joyful recognition to God s abundant grace, Our Savior Lutheran Church has been bringing Christ-centered transformation to the people of the Minot area for more than 30 years. Each ministry impacts hearts and lives with the Mercy of Jesus Christ and communicates that this church has truly been a place where faith and life meet. Our church building and the resources that we have serve to make this possible. These four walls provide the setting in which we pass on to future generations the beliefs, values and teachings of our Christian faith, as well as providing the launching point for Christ-centered service and Gospel mission into the community. At this time of unprecedented growth in the community of Minot, the leaders of Our Savior Lutheran Church are planning a project to upgrade our current facilities and prepare us for future mission.

4 With the unbelievable growth of our city there has never been a greater opportunity for us to reach people with the hope of Jesus Christ. Like our mission statement says, our purpose is to: Bring people to Jesus Christ; Build people to mature faith in Jesus Christ; Equip people for life-long service to Jesus Christ; and Send people into everyday mission opportunities for Jesus Christ. Our church building and property provides the setting that makes our mission possible. Step by step we move into the future as we pass on the beliefs, values and teachings of our Christian faith to future generations. This campaign demonstrates our desire to remain a strong, vibrant church family and to continue to be a witness to the Gospel for years to come. After two years of careful planning and research the time has come to step forward in faith and conduct this campaign!

5 Together We Are Embarking on a Three Year Capital Funding Campaign Several projects were proposed in a feasibility study. Being good stewards of the resources of God s people, Our Savior Lutheran Church leaders narrowed the projects. With your generous financial help we will accomplish these two high priority projects: COMPLETE our Parking Lot Project and ERASE our parking lot loan! REJUVINATE our main facility with long overdue building UPDATES! A Complete Rebuild and Expansion of the Parking Lot from the Ground Up Overcrowded and filled with mud are the words that once described our parking situation. The parking lot stifled ministry and reflected poorly to those coming to OSLC for the first time. After putting the project on hold in order to serve Minot s flood recovery, a $350,000 loan was approved by the congregation. Built to LAST from the ground up, 61,000 sq. ft. of new parking lot with lights, landscape and enough room for 380+ vehicles has now been completed! Because moving into the future calls us to invest our resources in people, it is important that we quickly eliminate this debt. Your generous gifts to this campaign will allow our congregation to completely repay this parking lot loan in a short three years, leaving us ready to invest in the future ministry opportunities that the Lord will surely provide. 6 Building Updates that Serve Our Future Main bathrooms, an upgraded entry that reduces congestion, a commercial kitchen, new flooring for the fellowship hall, heating and cooling systems, as well as other items are included in the building updates. The heavy traffic of 350+ worshippers each Sunday morning along with the everyday ministry of a busy congregation has taken its toll. Bathrooms have not been updated in 25 years; flooring has not been replaced in 10 years. We have been well served by our building to this point, yet continuing to serve people as we move into the future requires attention and upgrades. Building Updates: $400,000

7 RESTROOMS 6 ENTRY FELLOWSHIP HALL KITCHEN The First Phase in a Future Multi-Phase Project These projects prepare us to move toward our building s master plan in careful, well-measured steps. Future phases will include adding classroom wings, expanding the child center space, a large multipurpose room, offices, fellowship area and more. Today s projects will complete much-needed updates and set the stage for the next phases as we build step-by-step toward to the future. Wise Stewardship of Our Funds Our building updates will be financed according to the success of the capital campaign. A bridge loan may be necessary to carry the projects while waiting for the pledges to be fulfilled. However, a strong, successful campaign will find it unnecessary to borrow additional long-term money. If it becomes necessary to borrow additional money, the approval of the congregation will be required once again.

8 Giving in Faith We need you! You are invited to prayerfully consider how you can be a generous part of this capital campaign. Not Equal Gifts, But Equal Sacrifice Not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice is what best describes our understanding of giving. While some may not have the resources to make a large commitment, every person can make a prayerful, sacrificial gift that will make these projects possible. We encourage an equal sense of commitment and sacrifice throughout our church family, with each person prayerfully determining his or her own commitment. Your pledge to the Living Our Mission campaign is in addition to your weekly giving which is still essential to the operation of our church. The family of believers at Our Savior Lutheran Church serves as a conduit or an extension of our individual faith life. As members of this faith family, we are part of an extended body of believers that actively support a wide array of worship, education, mission, outreach, service, and fellowship programs. As a member each one of us provides visible, tangible support and encouragement for all needs within our church family, not just those needs important to us or in which we choose to participate. This could be one of the most important times in our church s history. Together we can do more than we could ever do as individuals.

9 Questions on Giving How much should I/we give to the campaign? There is no easy answer to this question. It s up to you. As Christians we have the power of prayer to help us arrive at the answer. Clearly a goal of this magnitude cannot be reached without sacrifice. As others have given sacrificially in the past so we might be served today. In the same way, we are being called upon to make a generous sacrifice for the sake of present and future believers. Your pledge isn t legally binding, but we ask that you make it with full faith and intention. Why a three-year pledge period? Pledging enables members to make a more significant investment than might be possible with a single cash donation. Individuals can realize optimal tax savings by spreading their contributions over a period of several years. Pledging also assists OSLC in plans for completing the projects. Are my payments fully deductible? As a general rule, payments on your pledge are tax deductible in the year they are made. As with all tax questions, you should have your accountant review your specific circumstances. How can I make my gift? Cash or Check What could be simpler? During the three-year campaign period you can fulfill your pledge weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually by using church envelopes. Electronic Giving Program If you would like to give automatically from your account much like you pay your monthly bills, just note this on the pledge card and complete the electronic giving form. This form will be included in your pledge

10 packet. We encourage the Electronic Giving Program for this campaign. It simplifies our records and allows each of us to give our first and best back to the Lord. Securities or Real Estate that has Appreciated By donating appreciated securities or property there are opportunities to avoid capital gains tax. How often will I have to make my pledge? You may pay weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Below is a chart to help you consider your pledge to the capital campaign.
